A guy from school was bugging me about getting out of my basement and playing airsoft with a bunch of people. Yesterday I went, and him, his girlfriend, and a bunch of other people were there. A slight misunderstanding occurred...

We then established that he was definitely talking about airsoft  |

Ricery1: Illumination determines nuclear yield, so that photon torpedo can't be more than 9 kilotons.
Jace911: But...the fireball was kilometers wide, and the blast wave covered half a planetary hemisphere.
Ricery1: I said NINE KILOTONS! What, are you RETARDED?! Do you have a BRAIN?!
He later tried to convince me and several others that the 'kiloton-level impact' from Ent-E ramming Scimitar in Nemesis proved that photon torps were rated in the tons.

Full yield is about 270 Petajoules, while directed yield (i.e. what'll actually hit someone) is about 100.8. >_>

Also, this same guy advocates for MAC guns in Halo (Spoilers, skip to about 4:30 in this video for an example) to be rated at 1.17 teratons. >_>

The Halo encyclopedia rates ship-mounted MACs at 1.17 teratons (Non-canon compared to games)...SMACs are considerably higher. Double-digit teratons, if I recall correctly. >_>
