The Galaxy drifts closer to unabated fear as the Republic confirms reports of an assault on its military headquarters on the planet Rendili. The Republic's top tactical minds, including Chief of State Ares Valure himself, were present for a meeting to discuss the aftermath of the alleged Mandalorian destruction of the Republic flagship Alderaan.
Admiral Akatos, tipped by sources as being the foremost candidate for the position of Commander-in-Chief, was killed in the assault. Chief Valure escaped narrowly with his life and is now recuperating in an undisclosed location.
Only a few days have passed since the death of former Commander-in-Chief Francine Ulgo, and Republican security is on top alert for what appears to be a coordinated offensive. The Republic has not released any details on the identity of the attackers, although such a targeted, surface-side attack is not consistent with conventional Mandalorian strategies, experts say.
