Okay, so I don't quite get it. Say if I were battling Cheapy's forces, I would post things how I'd do them, and he'd post them how he would (both an alternate reality by themselves) and CMAC says what goes?

It's a bit more complicated than that, but you've got the Cliff Notes version down. :P

In short, no. Basically, CMAC gives you permission to get up to a specific point, and then it evaluates your performance versus the opponent's (based on writing quality, realism, your forces that are there, and so on). Like, if I tell you "walk to point A", you are guaranteed to get there. If you "succeed" in that round, maybe we'll tell you "break into the control room." If you break into the control room with a pair of cutters, then maybe you'll win that next round... but if you do it by scratching at it with a cat's claws (which is, obviously, unrealistic), then you'll be punished in the next round for doing something so stupid. If you do something really stupid (like you say "I just killed Han Solo" or something we did not give permission for) then the round may be rolled back. The winner of each round will then further his goal in the next objective while the loser will get a less positive objective.

Like I said in the thread, it's difficult to explain, so it's best just to sit back and watch the battle thread that we've got going. :p Zara and I will be adding in comments OOC to help explain.

Basically, mind your P's and Q's and play nice or CMAC plays the role of karma. :p

So... um... if you get in a lightsaber fight with someone, can you describe parries and attacks as long as everything you describe doesn't really further the fight and is simply descriptive exposition?

I think I garbled y question a bit.

If I'm understanding your question, yes. CMAC hasn't described mono-e-mono battles yet, so don't take my word for it, but I'll bet it'll be a climatic turn by turn fight until there is a point where CMAC determines a winner via PM because your posts and planning were better (IE you back them of the cliff, corner them, etc), and then you'll be free to stab 'em, shake hands, etc. I'm just guessing, however.

Side question @ CMAC: Can we have an NPC account for on-request NPC battles?

We ran that test years ago... >_>

And what do you mean by NPC battles?

Like, if I want to fight someone in-game, but either A: I want a challenge, or B: The NPC is highly competent, the CMAC can have another player use an NPC account, where they play as if it was a PC on PC battle. This could make it more interesting, as well as make high profile targets (A jedi, General, whatever), actually be hard to kill. So if I'm a farmer, and I try to just walk up to an NPC assassin and beat him up, CMAC can say that it's kinda ridiculous, and have someone deemed worthy fight said farmer as the assassin. It'd keep it down to earth, and exciting.

That's basically how it works. :p

Like if some farmer PC tries to fight a Stormtrooper NPC in full gear with stick, then CMAC will probably favor the trained, elite combat trooper with full body armor over Cletus.

So CMAC will just drop in and say 'No?' That's lame...

I love how Lazer's all yay for NPC account and Amsie just shuts him down :P

What about intelligence-style missions that aren't technically battles? Would they be handled in the same way?

I'm pretty sure Ams has downloaded a Lazer-Yay Detector for his Anti-Virus system. :P

Let's put it this way: if you do something ridiculous or execute a feat of utter jackassery, CMAC has the authority to negate it, have it come back on you, or rectify the situation in any way we see fit. :p

So play nice, and all will be good. Act like a jerk, and you will be so treated.

Yes, actually. Zara and I had that sort of thing in mind when we cooked up the system.

Awesome! Ten points for advanced planning! Then again, the best game plan doesn't mean anything if you don't have the chance to put it into action... *wink* :P

He who tried to post-farm on a nearly inactive forum should not be urging CMAC to action. :p

Interesting. You're saying you have to break the rules of the site... and you will do so if CMAC does not do as you wish. Luckily, you're joking... I assume. Otherwise, well... we wouldn't respond well to it. ;)
