Heat waves suck... I guess there are outages all over the area. Haven't lost power, though.
Thank God for air conditioners, too. _________________ Emperor Ams Jendob, Ruler of the Imperial Remnant

Wizard: Yeah. There's an arcane lock on it.

It's not my GM, that's a quote from a guy on the forums. I was reading the thread called "Things You Never Expected Your Players to Do" thread last night.
Here's one from my game on Friday:
I'm tired of these frakking PCs splitting the frakking party!
Quote: |
Me: You enter the hole in the mining tunnel. The only illumination comes from your torch, so you can just barely make out enough details to suggest you're in an ancient library of some sort.
Psion: I move into the room. Might as well check it out before the rest of the party gets here.
Me: You can see that the shelves are mostly empty of books, with piles of their charred remains scattered about here and there. As you move in farther, you can see a stone pedestal on the far end of the room shaped like a dragon's clawed hand, flanked by two winged dragonborn statues.
Psion: What's on the pedestal?
Me: You're too far away to see, it's tilted away from you slightly.
Party: How far away are we?
Me: Five minutes.
Psion: I use Far Hand to move my torch to the opposite end of the room, then Stealth over to the bookshelf near the pedestal. *rolls* 22.
Me: You can see that a draconic skull sits atop the pedestal. Its eye sockets have rubies fitted in them.
Psion: I Far Hand the skull over to me from behind the bookshelf.
Party: *facepalm* Are we there yet?
Me: You enter the library just in time to see Tobi (The Psion) reach out for the skull, which promptly lights on fire inches from his hands and roars at him. The statues animate and spread their wings, and three spectral dragonborn scholars emerge from the bookcases.
Psion: ...surounding me.
Party: >_<
Me: Roll Initiative.
|
Thus what was supposed to be a relatively easy encounter turned into a fight for their lives, seeing as the Psion was smack-dab in the center of all the monsters, while the rest of the party was crammed into the hallway (Where they remained for half the fight, since the statues flew over and blocked their path inside before any of them could act). The ghosts tried and failed to possess the burly, low-Will warlord and avenger, while succeeding on the Psion, who promptly started punching himself in the face. _________________ Kyle Fenris - Jedi Master, Gray Jedi

I just read a post by Orrion that stated that a char's clothes were dissolved in places. I've heard/seen this before, and I understand the reasons behind it, but I was just thinking...
Isn't human skin far more susceptible to dissolution than all known fabrics, such as cotton, linen, polyester, and flannel? Even in the SWU, it would be logigal to conclude that clothing would only be more resistant to damage.
Also, both the skin ad clothing of the victim would dissolve in a more uniform manner, causing widespread slushiness intead of small, isolated, "burns".
And I read the post where that happened as well |

Not necessarily. Some fabrics actually are more sensitive to caustic materials than human skin. That said, it wouldn't be pleasant. I've had my share of encounters with acids, and yeah... it hurts.
Also, caustic compounds don't melt or dissolve you in seconds. _________________ Emperor Ams Jendob, Ruler of the Imperial Remnant

Well if you dunked a whole person...?
Oh, and imma citizen of Munnillist (gosh dang Latin alphabet, I can't figure out how to spell anything) between the ages of 10 and 30. Someone just activated a gynourmous jamming device above my planet. WHy iSnt mY seLlfone werKIng??!!!?! WHYWHYWHYWHYWHYWHYWHY!?!?!?!?!?!?171717171/1/1?! *foams at the mouth*
Either that, or I'm one of thousands if not millions of freighter pilots leaving this immesely important economic center, and I'm bashing my brains out against the dashboard because the dang hyperdrive is on the fritz agian for the first time ever due to an artificial gravity well I can probably feel. (and since my ship's speed is measured in megalights anyway...)
But there couldn't possibly be a hostile fleet blitzing us, not even in that dense field of very large stars that just appeared, right? Deus Ex Machina. |

My neighbors sacrifice chickens and goats on altars in a room filled with fruits and vegetables to their voodoo God who parallels Artemis and consider themselves to use white magic, not black. And if you're wondering, their white robed rituals truly do complete the picture, however, their religion is primarily Hispanic. _________________ Captain of the Elusive, MC-90 Star Cruiser

I though so but I had to ask. Dang, I didn't notice how incoherent my post was >_<. I meant sw canon makes no sense, and would make the recent invasion of Munnilist happen... differently than described if applied too literally. Sorry.
Incidentaly since that post I realized the planet Ryloth is impossible. Different parts would face the star at different times of the year. I can't stop it. >_< |

Actually, phase-locking is a VERY real and well-documented phenomenon. Example: the Moon. "But that's just a satellite going around a planet... not a planet itself." Well, look up "Hot Jupiter" on Wikipedia. They've found hundreds of phase-locked gas giants around stars in the Milky Way.
Long astrophysics rant short... Ryloth could happen.
It's these demented mono-biome worlds that are strange. _________________ Emperor Ams Jendob, Ruler of the Imperial Remnant
