So as some of you may be aware, I am a member of a weekly D&D group with a bunch of my RL friends in school. Today we finished our last campaign before summer started (And I would start to DM), and consequentially it was the boss fight. As in, six level 6-7 adventurers vs three level 8 monsters: two ogres and a cyclops, all Large-sized.
The backstory is basically that we were hired to defend a town from a horde of orcs/goblins/etc that were preparing to attack. We would have said no (The pay was too low) except for one thing: we had been working for the past three weeks to take over said town from the inside. So, y'know, having the whole place burned to the ground would have put quite a dent in our plans. So we agreed, and the mayor stuck us in a pimple of a fort in the forward lines, hoping we would dull the brunt of the attack and allow the other elements of the defenses to hold, which we did.
So the final fight starts off okay, except one of our characters dies. My dragonborn barbarian is mixing it up with the Cyclops and remaining Ogre (Both are bloodied) alongside a Warforged Avenger and Minotaur Monk. I decide to try and intimidate the Ogre into surrendering, since he's bloodied. I roll a 19 and fail to intimidate him, and he laughs in my face. Pissed off, I hit him with my last daily, Rage Strike: 4d10+6 damage.
DM: *glances at notes, then back to me, then back to notes* ...You bite his head off.
PARTY: 
ME: "I spit out the Ogre's head, kick his body, and bellow at the corpse. 'YOU SHOULD HAVE SURRENDERED, B****.'"
On my next turn, I roll a 32 to intimidate the Cyclops. He drops his axe and flees in terror.

The Reapers wanted the Collectors to build another vanguard to replace Sovereign in order to open the Citadel relay for the Reaper fleet. They failed, so now Harbinger's just gone "Screw it," and ordered the fleet to take the long way to the galaxy.

OMFG I leave for like... um...
And the galaxy asplodes! I feel like posting now would be like joining SWVIII all over again, only now I know how to not sound like an idiot.
So I'm posting at well past midnight, and I'm not sure why. I just had this feeling that something was wrong. I wondered if maybe it was that I hadn't posted here in a while. Or that I haven't checked my email in a while. Or that I want to complete the Monkey Madness quest in Runescape, or that I want to discreetly teleport away from Ape Atoll and earn a Teacher's Wand which I can lend till I get the money for some better equipment, or that I'm playing Runescape too much. Maybe I want to find out where I left off in Final Fantasy IV after finding Saban today. It could be the lack of the once-omnipresent couch in my room.
Perhaps I want to finish the story I'm writing. Or a story I started a while ago. Or I might want to write the beginnings of a new story. I could possibly want to finish the portrait I started, or the bestiary I started earlier. Or start a new picture. It'll still look like crap.
It could be fridge logic from Stargate Continuum, which I watched in full, or from Knowing, which I walked into with perfect timing and saw only the good parts of. Perhaps those are just mixing with The Sixth Sense from the day before into some bizzare miasma.
It could be that I want to press the Stumble button yet again. Or that I want to try making a videogame with some software or another. Or that I want to try making a movie in - nope, deleted it. Or that I want to publish an article online even though it will provide neglidgible income. Or that I want to organize my life more strictly by a set of rules I can't decide on. Or that I want to spend ages looking up references to obscure things that seem important. Or plan the infrastructure of a nation I will likely never rule. Or install my Hylian font. Or remix Last Train To Awesome Town just so I can say I've done it. Maybe I want to look into the matter of ontology to see what it is exactly. Or embark on a veneful crusade against email spammers. Or watch DMC mod videos, if I can find them, just to ooh and ah. Maybe I want to control people's minds and show them how moldeable they are. Or save the enironment. Or invent things. Or clean my room, purging the aracnoid menace from these walls. Or just get myself locked in a padded cell somehow and forget any of this exists.
The closest answer seems to relate to my brother's broken PS2, 007: Nightfire, and zombies. The feeling could be something I can't directly associate with it, like I'm so addicted to hardcore music that I'm somehow getting withdrawal. Or barely-contained rage at all the disgusting things in this world. Or all of those at once.
Hell, I should be asleep right now. BTW, I guess it's tomorrow. |
