NOTE: After studying the True Empire's background more closely, I have revised the post completely.

Galak Fyyar, High Admiral and Governor of Larexet, strode down the ramp of his shuttle with the dignified gait of a person convinced of his own importance. And why not? He had risen through the ranks of both Palpatine's and Zend's Empire, albeit with a little warlord intermezzo between them, received numerous commendations for both his tactical skill and his brilliant ingenuity with technology, and was now one of the highest ranking officers of the True Empire, locating in the to the wider Galaxy uncharted Unknown Regions. Which gave a military officer little to do, freeing up much time for working on research and development. And as the Empire's top interdisciplinary scientist, he had become Governor of Larexet, an artificial planetoid which had once belonged to an advanced race but now housed a True Imperial advanced research and production facility, because of which it reported directly to the Grand Admiral rather than being part of a Moff's sector.

Behind him he could hear the precise steps of stormtrooper boots as his guards followed him from the shuttle, and onto the landing pad where Lieutenant Governor Aard awaited them all. He was as tall as Fyyar but probably one and a half times as wide, appearing to be a bulky brute, which was however far from true. Aard was a bureaucrat but scientifically trained like Fyyar and ran the day to day administration of Larexet as efficiently as possible, but he did have a tendency to joke about things in a thoroughly unprofessional way.

Fyyar walked past Aard, who then had to catch up, which was Imperial custom when welcoming a superior.
"Greetings Governor, I trust the ride in the new shuttle was comfortable?"
"Oh yes indeed," replied Fyyar, "but as I designed it myself, it was hardly any surprise. Any news from here?"
The lieutenant governor shook his head, "no, Governor, everything is running smoothly and all delays are perfectly on schedule," he only partially hid his amusement at himself, an inexcusable slip in the military, but less serious in the far less disciplined governmental branches.
Fyyar looked directly at Aard and zoomed in a tiny bit, just enough to make his data goggle lenses protrude a small distance, something which Fyyar knew was both uncomfortable and intimidating to whoever he was speaking to. That was why he did it, after all. He then said, "very well," his tone overflowing with irritation at Aard's crack.

Aard and Fyyar exchanged no more words on their way to the capitol, which was located in an underground complex adjacent to many of the laboratories and facilities in which Fyyar spent much of his time. Fyyar had some reports to read, and he looked forward to reading about what progress his teams had made.

Sitting down in his office, Fyyar quickly went through most of the reports. Since the Empire employed standard report templates, spotting anything of value could be done quickly, and useless information skipped with ease. Projects were progressing at estimated speed, no big delays or discoveries, nothing worthy of notice whatsoever.

More interesting were the reports that Star Destroyers Firmus Piett and Terrinald Screed would be commissioned in a week. Both ships were built on the regular Imperial Star Destroyer hull, but Fyyar had personally supervised several modifications to their design, including upgraded weaponry and advanced shielding, as well as the mounting of a more powerful reactor, based on the one in his own Star Destroyer, the 1 kilometre long Singularity. It was an experimental model developed by the New Republic, capable of yielding the same power as the massive SFS I-a2b reactor on the Imperial II-class while taking up much less space. However, the hyperconductive materials used in the magnetic confinement tubes were prohibitively expensive, so putting them into mass production was a no-go even with Fyyar's massive budget. Which meant Fyyar had had to compromise, and apply some of the advantageous features of the experimental reactor on the larger I-a2b's.

In the drydocks surrounding little Larexet, four more of these advanced Star Destroyers, all named after Imperial naval commanders and therefore colloquially nicknamed "The Admirals", were in different stages of completion, and would form a quite fearsome strike force when deployed, able to shoot harder and longer and take more punishment than any other six ships in their size class. Fyyar had never cared for gargantuan super ships, feeling they were an unnecessary concentration of resources. But both Daala and Zend seemed to like commanding from the gigantic Super Star Destroyers, which was ironic since Fyyar considered them the ultimate phallic symbols in existence.

Great weapons of war, but no war to fight. Not yet, at least. Despite being part of the inner circles of the Grand Admiral's leadership, Fyyar knew frustratingly little of when or even if they would return to the known Galaxy. Only the Grand Admiral herself knew, or so he presumed.

It occurred to him that maybe he had just been let out of the planning, but he dismissed it as paranoid speculation. His services were invaluable to the Empire. Had his combination of technological insight and tactical skill not ensured Imperial victories at the battles of Bandomeer, Hakassi, Taanab, Borleias, Talabea and, most famous of all, Gyndine? There ten of his 150 foot tall cortosis-armoured AT-BD's - All Terrain Battlefield Dominators - had completely crushed the Rebel forces. Twice as tall and much wider than the feared AT-AT's, the quadruped crustacean-esque giants had simply stomped over many Rebel holdouts, and exterminated the rest with their massive missile launchers, mortars and homing lasers. Rebel soldiers had fled in terror, although a group of daring Rebels had managed to trick one of the giants into approaching a ruined power plant and detonated a reactor, crippling the AT-BD. Fyyar had been furious at the machine's commander's incompetence, but fortunately that was the only loss the massive walkers had suffered, while having destroyed an entire Republic army group and won the Battle of Gyndine. Since then, they had been deployed on a number of worlds and spread terror among the Expansion Region and Mid Rim, but when the Rebels found out about Fyyar's base in the Lenico belt and launched an assault, five of them had had to be abandoned in the exploding Cairn Installation. But the remaining four were kept in a storehouse not far from his office, and he looked forward to using them again at some point. When the Empire returned to the Galaxy, so would the AT-BD's.

Noticing how his mind had drifted away, he resumed reading the reports which really reported absolutely nothing.
