The Kua Kua Galleria had been their favorite spot of the night, and would probably service them for several more hours, much later into the night than his parents would want. It was always open, providing travellers and natives to intermingle and experience the finest entertainment. Bella had bought Jonas an entire wardrobe after hearing he had nothing but the clothes on his back. Service droids had brought all their new items to their respective speeders, and now, it was what Lucas had been most looking forward to: The Gladiator Arena.

It had been one of his favorite sports, though in the last three years, they had added holographic participation. Lucas would spend hours every day participating, becoming addicted to the adrenaline rush. It cost a fortune to play, but if you were victorious, you'd earn a lot more, just after the first match...but only the best survived beyond that.

"Oh come on, Bella! We have to play. The odds are stacked in our favor." Bella caved easily, even though they weren't supposed to, necessarily, show off their abilities. Jonas wanted to try, but he wasn't sure about Tseneca and Firi.

"We basically get hooked into this machine, ocular googles that transmit the information, and we appear in the center of the arena. People watch it all the time, and since it's average people, it's usually hilarious. But every now and then, you get a few people who know what they are doing, and it's -"

"Awesome," Bella finished, "Normally Kuati people aren't interested in such barbaric sports, but this is -"

"Honorable, in a way." Lucas jumped in, "It's sort of a way to fight against the odds. At first you just play against other players, but afterwards, you play against opponents the computer generates for you-"

"And the AI always creates them where the odds for victory decrease in each match... there are twenty levels. One person had made it to 17, before losing."

Jonas inquired, "What constitutes 'losing'?"

"In the arena, you just disappear. So if an opponent was to shoot you in the head, you're out. And you're not allowed to play for the duration of the tournament. Team play is fun, much more captivating and interesting..." He looked around, "I think we can kick some serious ass tonight."

The shuttle ride had been typical, the pilots generous and kind with their attempt to engage in small talk. Alisson had been waiting, the programmed emotion of anxiety seemed to pulse throughout her. It landed on a secluded portion of Kau Kau's private entrance. Her legs uncrossed quickly, and proceeded down the ramp and into the sun's bright rays, her pupils adapting accordingly. The walk was smooth as people gazed upon her, ijntrigued by her private Lambda shuttle and small chain of guards that halted at the entrance to Kau Kau. She looked to her pocket-pad, locating the communication device Lucas had been carrying. It was programmed so any member of the Pallanén or Davad family would be able to locate each other. It's unique frequency unable to replicate and extremely difficult to slice.

She crossed the galactic stores, stopping only to glance at a gem once worn by the long deceased Queen of Alderaan. It was, however, a replica. The true treasure, was probably locked away in some vault. Her steps continued, precisely the same as each foot stepped further than the last. Finally, she saw them. She listened to Bella and Lucas pitch the Gladiator Arena to their friends, "I will play." She said loud enough, looking at the two women beside them, before glancing at both Bella and Lucas. One was of an unknown species, but looked near-human. The other was older, and unlikely chosen as a mate for Lucas. They were older than the last time they had saw each other, but she had looked very much the same to them.

"Alisson!" Bella's voice had rose to an emotional pitch, logically a sense of happiness as she raced over. Alisson cradled the young woman, before Lucas wrapped his arms around them both. They looked at each other, both pleased to see each other.

"This is Alisson," Lucas mentioned her name, "Like a sister to me," he generously left out the piece of information that she was a Human Replica Droid, "Alisson, this is Tseneca, Jonas and Firi." Alisson smiled to all of them and responded with, "Nice to meet you."

"So that's four people," Bella counted, "Tseneca and Firi?"

They reluctantly nodded, unable to escape the peer pressure. Alisson smiled, curious to how long each female would last in the arena.

The entrance fee was a steep 1,000 credits per player, though if they were victorious in the first round, they would each earn that back, plus 200 credits. Lucas had generously donated enough for them to play the first round. If they had won the second round, they'd each win 2,400 credits, and it would continue to double until the final round. Most players would make it to the third round, before the artificial gaming computer stopped them from progressing. With two jedi, an angel, and two friends who had survived Iego, the odds seemed as though it was in their favor.

They were taken into an advanced room, something that reminded him of a holo-horror lab of an evil scientist. "We'll take the blue team."

Six chairs were provided, all augmented with different machinery and gadgets. Jonas sat down as three people appeared around him. "This is holo-vised across the sector. Don't do anything that'll embarrass you or your friends." The woman teased, snapping the goggles around his eyes. Jonas was wary about the prospect of becoming known for losing by fumbling with a blaster or something equivalently silly.

"Right," he said, now wondering what Lucas had gotten them into.

The last thing he saw, was the computer nerd hooking something to his neck, before he was looking at different room. "We're inside." Lucas said, moving strangely as though he was dancing. "Move around a bit, we have five minutes before the game starts....get used to your body."

Jonas tried to kick his legs, and they moved in a weird jerk. The second try was much more successful, and on his fifth, he had it down. He ran over to the side of the room, and something he noticed was that he was faster. He collected a few weapons, clicking them to his side, as Lucas took a large cannon and strapped it to his back. A vibro-sword appeared to his side, while arming himself with a pair of blasters.

"Unlimited ammo, in round one. We just need to mop up the other players." Bella informed them, herself choosing only an assault rifle and a vibro dagger. The girl known as Alisson had taken a sniper rifle and two small blasters. Tseneca had grabbed a rifle, with a small belt of grenades.

The gates opened and their team instantly loaded into the arena. It was an ice world, only the freezing temperatures were not apparent. He could see the snow fall and hit his skin, but he could not feel it. It was weird, out of body experience.

"Watch out!" Lucas pushed him to the side, a stream of blaster bolts hailed from the other side of the arena. Rocks and strange ancient architecture scattered around the battlefield. "Alisson! Take point! You and Bella will work on the Red Team, Tseneca, Firi and I will work on Yellow."

Jonas clicked his weapon into place, "And me?"

"Cover Alisson!" And they were gone, snaking in and out of the lower rock mazes. Jonas tipped his blaster and eliminated a yellow player... but nothing was as mesmerizing as Alisson's trigger finger. Every four seconds it rang out, each impacting a player on the opposite field.

A voice sounded from above, "Advantage: Blue Team. All players remaining."

Jonas bit down on his lip, "Shit. Now they are going -" A massive man approached from the side, his blaster finger quicker than Jonas had anticipated... allowing three shots to get off, before Alisson had spun around and shot him in the face. Just as Lucas had said, the man disappeared, presumably sent back to his body in an upset fit.

"Sorry," Jonas let out, taking the game much more seriously than he had before. The next two players to appear, were gone.

Alisson shouted, "Much better... We finished the Red Team."

The game's voice appeared again, "Red Team Eliminated. Green, Blue and Yellow remaining."

Alisson looked worried, "I haven't seen any green players. We should try and find Lucas and the rest... they might be in trouble..."

To be completely honest, Tseneca thought the holographic gladiatorial style fights were fairly ridiculous. In reality, she was very adept with blasters and preferred to fight when there was a need, not for sport. The others though, perhaps with the exception of Firi, were enthusiastic about the game however, and Lucas was spending so much money on them in the arena that it was just as well she indulge him.

She strapped in to a chair, the sensation of being in control of a outer body made her a little nauseous at first. She moved around trying to get used to to the disjointed feeling of her appendages lifting and moving on a seperate plane. She took hold of a rifle and some granades while lucas laid down a game plan.

The teams embarked, splitting up and moving quickly. With Firi and Lucas, Tseneca approached the yellow team, blasters blazing. She soon realized, based on Firi's lack of experience and the other teams skill that they were in for quite a challange.

"Firi, look." She pulled the angel aside, ducking behind a snow drift and molded her fingers around a hand-held blaster. she showed her the settings and helped her to aim at one of the sharp piles of ice, pieces shorn off by the bolt. "and thats how you use a blaster..."

Firi, nodded and the two, shot at the other team from their vantage point, watching as lucas ran at them with the grace and agility of a trained fighter. The yellow team tho, had obvious superior skill. the two women would have to come out of hiding eventually if they were to score any sort of wins...

They had been having such a lovely time. Since her discussion with Tseneca the night before, and Jonas' profference of friendship, Firi felt that some of the warmth she'd felt before was returning to her, in body and spirit. She even glowed a little bit more.

Then came the fighting games. firi was nervous by nature, a trait that came from her father's blood as it was an emotion not usually felt by the Diathim. Being thrust into a gladiatorial arena on the other hand, was the last thing she wanted to do. She didn't even know how to use standard human weaponry, let alone wanted to.

When the games started, Tseneca took her aside and wrapped her elongated fingers around the blaster, showing her how to use it properly. She swallowed hard. She was not in her real body, on unfamiliar ground covered in white, and surrounded by stranger she was being told to eliminate. She felt sick, all of a sudden.

taking a deep breath she shot at the other players, wildly at first, but then with more practiced aim.

"Ha!" Tseneca cried as Firi took out an aproaching antagonist. "Your getting good at this!"

Suddenly, Lucas dove behind their snowbank fortress. righting himself and taking shots at the oncomers. They were surrounded, blaster bolts flying overhead like starfall. "We're doomed!" Firi heard Lucas yell...

The green team had them surrounded, their victorious expressions taking a cocky lead as the artificial system deemed red and yellow players fully eliminated. "We're doomed!" Lucas called out, almost ready to throw down his blaster, when Alisson and Jonas arrived. Tseneca ripped two grenades from her belt, tossing them to Lucas, then to Bella before rolling out a spray of lethal acid-rifle. Using the agility of the program, they managed to dodge the chaotic fire, the small explosives landing near their opponents, their own speed unable to escape the blast radius.

Round One Complete. Blue Players victorious. Loading Round Two. The voice erupted over the stadium, the hoth-style playing field evaporating, leaving them in the center of the arena as Kuati crowds cheered in excitement Lucas took Tseneca and Firi's hands and rose them into the air, delighted at the sudden change of events.

Round Two Initializing. The arena evaporated, and the Gungan city of Otah Gunga appeared around them, except only two bubble orbs existed. The first a staging ground for their team, and directly across from them, the opposing team were already arming and preparing for the offensive. Each team had a turret, able to penetrate the deep waters and hail lethal fire to the advancing team. A small transport, large enough for four, would have to try against the odds and make it across the void between them... avoiding the opposing team's turret fire. This was a capture-the-flag style, with an emphasis on being the first team to score. If all team players were lost, the game would be won.

"A water level!" Bella squealed, "I love these." The gungan bubble orbs were large enough, much like a two story building. Most players would take their flag and run into the second level, barricading themselves into forcing the opposite team into advancing.

Jonas looked much more serious this time around, but Tseneca and Firi more annoyed. The beauty of the water, seemed to have Firi in a trance. Lucas shot them a playful smile, "Hey, if the galaxy was to all of sudden go into somekind of crazy massive war, and we were caught on the losing side, consider this practice!" Defensive tactics were crucial to survival.

Alisson interrupted, "They're advancing!"

Lucas turned around, "Already? Frak, they're going to rush us." Bella ran towards the water transport, the vehicle spurring to life, as Jonas and Lucas jumped into the passenger seat, leaving Alisson to the turret. "Firi, take that flag," he pointed to a golden object in the center of the room, "And run upstairs... don't let them get it..."

"We could try and kill them all," Bella added, but such a feat required little to no mistakes, as most players at level two, were no longer bantha fodder. Tseneca reluctantly hopped inside, taking her blaster pistol, and locked it into place. Bella slammed onto the accelerator and into the simulated ocean they went...

The angelic hybrid took the golden orb and rushed up and beyond the stairs, as Alisson took point with the blaster turret. Her fingers wrapped around the trigger as she sent a stream of red bolts towards the advancing transport. It hummed by, much more agile than the pivoting points of the turret gun. She watched as Bella, Lucas, Jonas and Tseneca sped across the open waters, just as easily dodging the green bolts that were coming their way.

The transport upon closer inspection, however, was a decoy. Only one member of the opposite team was on board. Alisson stopped firing, instead taking her assault rifle and taking a position on the stairs. She was Firi's only defense, should Lucas fail.

The transport sped along the top of the golden gungan bubble, Bella and Lucas both eyeing the bottom level... SHIT one of them called out, Jonas unsure what the problem was, but then it had hit him. All five of them were down there. Their transport-rush had been a decoy.

"BAIL!" Bella cried out, not able to adjust the transport in time to counter the oncoming turret bolts.

Jonas jumped into the water, it feeling much like jello than water. It was a strange sensation, pushing and swimming, when in reality, nothing was there. They reached the bubble, pushing through it to emerge inside the orb of the enemy team.

Bella was the first to get slammed with an assault rifle, but she didn't disappear, the game not considering the blow fatal. Lucas shot the player, before picking up his sister and leaping behind a box. In the background, their transport had fallen victim to the spray of turret fire and exploded before completely disappearing. So much for getting back to their own orb.

"We need to get their flag-"

"No, it would take thirty minutes to swim across the distance-" she pointed to the artificial countdown, "We have ten minutes, before the computer declares a winner. Losing the speeder...we just lost a shitload of points." Bella explained, Tseneca now fully along for the ride, no paying attention. Jonas laughed, but didn't have time to explain the humor in the situation. It was strange how much these two had put into the game.

"I still have these..." Tseneca pointed to five remaining grenades on her belt.

"We will need them in round-" Lucas opened his mouth to say, but she had already pulled two off and tossed them across the room.

Jonas crossed his fingers, as he heard the grenade hit the ground... 3. 2. 1. Booom! Lucas and Bella jumped upwards and onto of the boxes, firing as fast and as much as they could. Tseneca, clearly not taking the game as seriously as the Pallanens, walked bluntly into the open. Her exposure caused the remaining team members a slight moment of hesitation, allowing Jonas to pick them off.

"Oh my god." Bella expressed, laughing, "That was all five."

One Green Player Remaining. Time Remaining: Two Minutes.

Bella raced across the room, taking the green team's flag and dropping it into her pocket. Together, they raced across the room staring into the open void. They watched as the lone green player shot through the orb containing Alisson and Firi, jettison at the last moment. It was a terrific standoff, one that would earn Alisson hundreds of bonus points, before she had eliminated him from the game play.

Round Two Complete. Victory: Blue Team. SAVE and COLLECT? OR CHALLENGE and DOUBLE BONUS?

Lucas laughed, punching Tseneca softly in the arm, before saying, "Save and collect, I think we're done for today."

The water battlefield disappeared, the crowd momentarily appearing before them, before they reappeared in the artificial chairs. Wiring and googles removed, Lucas laughed. "We can revisit the program whenever we want, together as a team, in singles or doubles... but I figured we should call it a night for now."

Bella chimed in, "Besides, we all just earned 6,000 credits. Let's just take this victory and walk away in good spirits, shall we?" She looked a little nervous around Firi and Tseneca, both probably had not enjoyed the game.

"That rocks!" Jonas let out....

Tseneca pulled off the gear. It wasn't that bad, but she was gonna give Lucas a hard time anyway.

"you call that a challange? I call it childs play." She ruffled his hair a little as they headed back towards their transport to let him know she was joking around.

"Its just for fun." he shrugged. "Some of us don't have the advantage of constantly running for our lives." The two teased each other as they took their seats.

"Did you see the way those other players were ganging up though? I'll bet half of them are ex-academy or something..." Jonas commented. He looked at Firi. "You did well, if thats the first time you've ever used a blaster."

The angel smiled at this. "strange things..." her voice was soft. "I dont see why humans use them, the seem so barbaric."

Tseneca shrugged. "They are. But they get the job done."
"So do lightsabers..." Lucas chimed in.
"Sure, for close work, you cant hit a moving target up to 7 feet away with a lightsaber."
"To each his own..." Lucas smiled. "what do diathim use as weapons Firi?"
She sighed. "We-- they-- dont. The voice is enough, and there are other ways of warding off hostiles. Song, light, flight..."

"You fly?" Alisson asked. She struck Tseneca as being very odd, though she couldn't put her finger on why.

"no, I do not" Firi answered. She was being much more talkative. "My peoples bone structure is pneumatic which allows them to take flight. Since my sire was human, I was born without that advantage. The wings though, they sense vibrations, temperature, can warn me of danger, even change color and size when I am emotional. The are good then..."

"And very beautiful." said Jonas, touching the gauzy stems on Firi's back. She smiled and thanked him.

Thus the ride back to Pallanan- Davad estate was pleasant and uneventfull, filled with easy chatter and the relaxation of peace and new friendship...

Ann Berlin arrived on Kuat, the planet had lived up to the boasting of Kuati talk. It was a civilized paradise. The shuttle ride, perhaps one of her least favorite attributes of a being a galactic superstar, was finally over as it coasted towards the location of her next shows. She had decided to remain on the surface for six months, an extended tour. The longer she kept away from interplanetary travel, the better. A business contract had been agreed upon, the ex-CEO of Cybot Galactica, and husband to the infamous KDY Alatáriël Pallanén-Davad, was giving her a massive marketing campaign. A new handheld data padd, powered by the nicknamed SLYFER network, was about to launch. It was rumored to revolutionalize the holonetworks.

Ann was on board, her team pushing her to maintain public appearances, and staying apart of the latest technology and gizmos the masses kept eating up. She didn't mind, afterall, she enjoyed the spotlight. The device, when purchased by her fans, would allow her to give unique updates and entire concerts to their handhelds, and a precious lotto draw, would allow some face to face time with the popstar herself. The shuttle landed, the air exotically pleasing. It was fresh and reminded her of the concert she had played on Kashyyyk. It was rare that a world could hold such a beautiful smell. Kuat was one of them.

Ann cruised the ramp, holo droids and snaptoghers were already waiting for her. She waved at them casually, some asking, "How is Kuat? Why did you leave Adarlon?" A simple, Kuat is beautiful. and "I am excited to show off my new toy, the SLYPad!!" The word alone would send search engines across the galaxy into a frenzy. Everyone would want to know what she was talking about. Ryan Davad, founder of Slyfer Industries, seemed to know a way into introducing new products.

Ann Berlin was quickly ushered into a limo, and off to one of the world's finest suites...
