Sorry, I forgot that for some people, the thought of forgien dictators being deposed brings up a little more than simple feelings of glee. <_<

...So, Obama just won the Nobel Peace Prize. I have no idea what for... and, uh, I don't think the committee does either.

We still care about the Nobel Prize?

As far as I'm concerned, it lost any credibility and legitimacy it had left after last year.

Seemed normal to me. Have you seen any other world leader lately that hasn't been angrily ranting about how they can't have nukes? :P

Oh, and like we and Russia weren't taking it the next step up? Actually threatening nukes? :P

True. Peace is a lie. The Nobel prizes should go back to being about dynamite. :P

Finally! A politically related comment that I understand without looking something up! Thank you Lazer!

You know what? I was actually hoping to get a Nobel Prize.

In physics.

But like you said, it doesn't have much credibility (except to randomly selected fangirls) and almost everyone who got the prize for physics totally messed something up. Einstein, Smoot, some other people I'm about to look up...

I take that back [maybe]. The prize was given to the discoverer of X-rays, the creators of fiber optics, and the inventors of the modern spectrometer. However it has also been given to idiots for nonensical claims that quantum theory, and its child, string theory, are real. I beg to differ.

Oh wait I get it! You're asking who got the prize for quantum junk?

Yoichiro Nambu, Makoto Kobayashi, Toshihide Maskawa, (what the hell is giant magnetoresistance? I want to count those people) Roy J. Glauber, (um, "for the discovery of asymptotic freedom in the theory of the strong interaction"? don't scientists speak English?) Alexei A. Abrikosov, Vitaly L. Ginzburg, Anthony J. Leggett (them being PURE EVIL, they claim the existence of superfluids) Raymond Davis Jr., and Masatoshi Koshiba, since 2000.

Just because it's not practical doesn't mean it's gibberish!

Oh, and we can actually see superfluids, soooo... the only truly popular theoretical physicist stoners are the string theory group... they're all conjecture.

Just because we can see them doesn't mean they're real. You know what a siphon is, right? They just call it a superfluid when it happens to liquid Helium.

EDIT: sorta sick, but on topic: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/6223831/Pointless-research-top-10-Ig-Nobel-award-winners-for-silly-science.html

Quantum mechanics is hardly a BS science...

don't scientists speak English?

Not if they're from France, Germany, Japan, Brazil, Venezuela, or any of well over a hundred other non-English-speaking countries. ;)

And even when they TECHNICALLY speak English, we have our own special dialect to confuse the masses... otherwise you tiny peons would be able to understand our plans for world domination. :p

I don't like string theory just because it's the opposite of Occam's razor. They're are probably a hundred simpler ways to guess what's inside an atom.
