So will the war be primarily based on roleplayingm or will each faction have a certain number of assets (As in ships and soldiers)?

Well, the entire game is assetless. That means, you don't have specific numbers of troops, ships, or even money, like in VIII. So, it'll pretty much be just roleplaying. The battlesystem, which will be forthcoming, will handle battles from a roleplaying standpoint. :)

There's gotta be some numbers and some basic stuff-attaining system...

It's all relative. I may describe a ship as "comparable to an ISD" or something that already exists in canon.

As far as ownership, the basic idea here is "be reasonable, not ridiculous." If you'd like to own a small freighter or personal shuttle, then that's fine. If you expect your character to be a small time warlord and want a little fleet, that might be okay. If you want to be a rogue warrior and have a top of the line ship bristling with 50 different weapon systems that are undefeatable, have personal armor that lasts for 5,000 high-powered blast shots, and own a small moon made of diamonds, then no. Just always mention it in your application or via PM to CMAC.

The bottom line is that what we did in VIII didn't work. We're trying this new way out; don't abuse it.

What about just the moon made of diamonds? :P
Anyhow, that makes sense. I thought you meant no numbers as in, "I have some amount of credits, and I buy some amount of ships to fight your some number of ships." :P

"If X Star Destroyers encounter Y Star Cruisers and 4 ships survive, how many of each starship are there?" :P

Well, if X-Y=4, and you take into account the odds of two battle clusters over ten encountering each other, and an ISD's superior shield rating, while taking into account... :P

It's a paradox, I'm afraid, but once you get passed it, you are able to understand it more clearly. :P
