Imperial Distinguished Service Medal
From Holonet
The Imperial Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) is a military award of the Imperial Remnant presented to any person who, while serving in any military capacity of great responsibility, has provided exceptionally meritorious service to the Remnant. On rare occasions, it has also been awarded for meritorious service in combat. It is second in order of precedence, behind the Order of the Imperial Cross.

Description
The full medal consists of a red-and-white-striped ribbon, which carries an octagonal silver medallion with a darker, bowl-shaped depression split in half by thick silver band. The ribbon tapers in width to equal that of the medallion's upper side.
The service and semidress uniform ribbon features just the red-and-white-striped ribbon, in full width.
Criteria for Awarding
The Distinguished Service Medal is given for meritorious service from a senior position that deserves high recognition, but is not up to the standards of the Order of the Imperial Cross. It can also be given to a member of the Imperial military of any rank for exceptionally distinguished service in support of combat operations. However, this is rare, with a lesser award often being awarded or circumstances calling for an award that recognizes battlefield valor, which results in an upgrade to the Imperial Cross.
