Summarized Biography: Shayera Hjadalnia was born on Tralus just over ten years before the Battle of Yavin. While her parents had strong Rebel ties, Shayera found their continuous praise of the Rebel cause to be a source of friction. When she was seventeen, she ran away to join the Imperial Remnant, which had just formed with the loss of Coruscant to the New Republic. In the chaos, she was redirected to a training annex on still-loyal Anaxes.

At the Imperial Naval Academy on Anaxes, she discovered two things that would shape her life: her piloting skills, and upperclassman Ams Jendob. Jendob and Hjadalnia formed a fast friendship. After Jendob graduated, Shayera would correspond with him until her own commission was granted as a naval fighter and shuttle pilot aboard the Vindicator-class Heavy Cruiser Eviscerator. On her fourth mission, Pilot Officer Hjadalnia scored her first confirmed combat kill, shooting down an X-Wing starfighter on a patrol. She was later transferred to the Star Destroyer Terminator. There, she re-encountered Ams Jendob. Their friendship quickly turned to romance, and shortly after Shayera's twenty-fourth birthday, Ams proposed. The young pilot immediately accepted her paramour's proposal, and the two were given a traditional military ceremony, married by the ship's captain.

Just over a year and a half later, on 15 ABY:3:7, twins Krischen and Kendra were born. Taking maternity leave, Shayera raised the twins until Ams transferred to Imperial Intelligence, allowing him to take a post closer to home. With her husband around to take up any slack, Shayera was authorized for light duty, and quickly transferred to Imperial Intelligence herself once she was cleared for flight. With two sources of income, as well as some wise investments, Ams and Shayera quickly amassed a modest fortune and joined the re-emerging Imperial aristocracy. While their more liberal politics cost them supporters in the old guard, they gained support among the reform-minded newer Imperials.

In 21 ABY, Shayera was badly injured when her scoutship's navigational system suffered a catastrophic malfunction during a routine docking procedure. Sadly, her third child that she was carrying at the time did not survive. After she recovered from her physical wounds and some of the emotional scars, her husband, in a rare breach of form, offered her a position as his executive pilot. He defended his choice to critics by stating that if he could not trust the woman he loved, there were no other choices. Privately, though, Administrator Jendob also wanted to keep a closer eye on his wife.

As time went on, Jendob was able to put the past behind her. She continued to serve as a shuttle and escort pilot for Imperial Intelligence, and eventually reached the rank of Commander in 35 ABY.
