PG-13. Violence.

Shattered remains of the Republic rested among the asteroid field. Escape pods, which remained unrescued and utterly helpless, floated at the mercy of Commander Selena Krauss. Victory lingered in the air, her eyes gleaming at the spectrum broad-casted over the Bilbringi system. She breathed in the essence of glory and the triumph in their grand return. For twenty-one years, they had passionately waited for this moment. Krauss let out a shrill cackle, her heels crushing glass fragments of smashed-computer screens. "We won," she hissed into Command Deck, the officers cheering as the words slipped from her tongue.

The battle was longer and much more tedious than Zend had predicted, but Krauss had promised the Grand Admiral a victory, and one was given. Perhaps to concern, though, it was much more than their spies had provided, and made her wonder if the second force, later identified under the jurisdiction and command of old Admiral Brand, wasn't tipped off of their invasion... Krauss parted from this thought. Instead, she listened to the chords of notes still playing across the battlefield. Wishing to hear the volume of screams of those inside the escape pods, watching as their comrades slipped away to safety, leaving them stranded to starving wolves. Krauss closed her eyes, attempting to feel the sense of lost hope. How it penetrated the soul, seeping through veins and dragging the body into darkness. There was nowhere to run. Lifepods would grant them a day or two at most, before air and supply in nutrients would run stale and dry.

"Tractor them, and escort them to the Demon of the Maw." Krauss whispered, devious intentions were beginning to slip into her mind. The True Empire had returned, and this day was not to be spoiled by remnant Rebels. She skipped around the control room, singing joyfully many victory chants. We won, we won. The thought replayed over and over in head, her enthusiasm quite obvious.

"Twenty-one frakkin' years," Krauss hissed, watching their fighters drag escape pods into the Zend-Modified ISD-II. "TWENTY-ONE MOTHER FRAKKIN' YEARS." The sanity Krauss rarely experienced had vanished at the victory, her mind oozing excitement and triumph. Her laugh echoed throughout many chambers of the shipyards, as a pair of stragglers were dragged in by True Empire battledroids. Obviously they had missed the boat.

ZD-2s dropped them, their bodies hitting the floor relatively hard, as they took a moment to squirm into a defensive stance, still, they remained as though graveling before her. They looked up to her, she was reminded of a stray dog which had found its way to her parents home. She basked in this memory, for it brought clarity as what was to come. Selena carefully removed her blaster pistol from her holster, humming a melody meant for comfort like her father had done so long ago. "Hello dog." She whispered, a clean smile escaping her lips, the very length of the smile could have well reached her ears. "I am Commander Krauss."

One of the Rebels, perhaps driven by his own madness, spat on the ground before her. True Empire officers around her tensed almost instantly. The Rebel noticed this as well, and though he tried to mask the fear with bravo-machoism, she took a step closer, returning the pistol to her side. She paused, noticing the shine in her boots, then her introduction continued. "I see the galaxy has lost its manners. You will learn to heel at the feet of your new Masters..." The man must've ignored every word, as no apology escaped his lips. Her fingers crossed the divide between them, and ran through his hair. It seemed to calm him, much like the fur of the dog she was petting moments before her father arrived all those years ago. The Rebel began to resist, but her strength had been greater than he anticipated. With relative uncanny force, Krauss shoved the man's face towards the biological fluid which had left his mouth a minute earlier. "Retrieve it." Two of the droids latched onto to both arms, holding the man. Resistance was futile.

Forcing his head, she humiliated the man in front of his comrade, smothering his face against the dirty, slimy floor. On cue, the droids lifted him enough where she was allowed to plant a boot in the man's face. The crunch was loud enough for the bridge officers to pause momentarily, idling in their duties, before snapping back into work. "Disrespect will not be tolerated." Her words were smooth, as she wiped her hands on the Rebel's uniform, freeing her fingers from several stray hairs. He was twitching as his hands tried to catch the blood pouring from his nose. He might've been trying to stop the flow, but realized it was pointless. Krauss continued, as though nothing was wrong with him,"I am not without a heart." She seemed to be emphasising this point, "My orders were, ambiguous, when it came to prisoners, in fact, I was ordered to demolish the entire fourth fleet."

She looked towards the viewscreen, the Demon of the Maw could be seen collecting lifepods. Clearly she failed that task, but Zend had not pressed the need of total victory. She only wanted the shipyards, and the Rebels were allowed to retreat, if it meant keeping the system. Returning her mind back to the situation at hand, she began to work towards some kind of confession, "Now, we can sit here, and I can teach you manners, of which you desperately desire, if you wish to survive under our reign. It does, however, take precious time away from the task of securing this system." She paused, the ZD-2 droids pulling the bloody man and hoisted him to a point to where he could stand on his own. Slightly crippled, but standing. "Now, if you apologize and accept the terms of an unconditional surrender, I will allow all of your friends," She casually glanced to the remaining pods yet to be dragged into the ISD's hangar bay, "to live. If you refuse, and continue to disrespect me, or my officers, I will have them gunned down by our starfighter corps." The man coughed, probably the blood beginning to clot air pathways. "I'll even see to it, that they all receive medical attention. Starting with you."

The man didn't speak. It was a better sign versus out-right refusal, but still, no answer, was a no answer. "Lt., hail the nearest starfighter captain. Target Lifepod 42-143." The Imperial officer nodded as Krauss returned to the bloodied-up rebel, "You will give me an admission to surrender, to whatever terms I deem necessary, or I will have that starfighter kill the seven people aboard Lifepod 42-143. Seven of your friends. Our instruments read that lifepod carries a seven-year-old child. In result to your negligence, that child will die." Her fingers ran across his face, collecting a smudge of the red goo, "The blood on your hands no longer reflects your own beating heart. How many shall be slain because of your ego?"

The officer, despite the short amount of time given to her, finally broke. His spirits had been crushed, his dreams of a Rebel-Reinforcement Fleet coming to save him, vanquished. Despite the amount of gore that had spread over his face, she could see tears pouring from his beady, disgusting eyes. The pride and patriot spirit washed away, "I surrender. On behalf of the New Republic, I surrender." Krauss promptly snapped to his side, bringing a performance that would marvel the galaxy.

"We accept your surrender of the Bilbringi System. Lt. Larria," She called to a random soldier in the distance, "Get this man some medical attention. His comrades left him to die, but we're here now." She touched his shoulder, "You did the right thing." The man noticed a recording device. It was all she needed, it would be enough propaganda, should She need it. When the camera flipped off, Krauss backed away as if the man was an infected wild animal. To the droids, she said, "Escort them to the prison barge."

"What?" the Second officer, after nearly five minutes of silence, finally spoke. It was then she noticed he had pissed himself. "You lied."

Krauss smacked the second man across the face. He was younger, probably fresh out of the academy. The eyes watered, but no tears fell. A sound escaped him, though not audible to any, only her. It was a familiar whine, much like the canine of her youth. He was the dog that had found its way to the doorstep in the storm. His sweat and stench became a peaceful reminder to the catering of a true Imperial. Krauss removed the blaster from its holster, and shot the mutt in the face.

The True Empire and heir to the galaxy had secured the Bilbringi system. Commander Krauss stood with dominion over the system, her polished uniform dazzled the reflection in the window as she stared into space. The asteroid field had been searched and all of the Republic's pods had been fished out. Men and women of the democratic government were shipped to a prison world in the unknown regions, forever away from their homes. The floors had been scrubbed, the consoles repaired and updated with Imperial technology. They had built a hub command center for future invasions, one that could coordinate multiple attacks in several systems. The captain of the Demon of the Maw arrived, accompanied by her fashioned ZD-2 battle droids. She never took a meeting without her loyal, programmed, guards. In the Empire, one could never enjoy the luxury of trust.

"Commander," He took a knee and dipped his head. "More and more ships arrive from the Unknown Regions every day. What does the Grand Admiral wish? What system shall we take next?"

Krauss tightened a pair of black gloves, she liked the feeling of the Alderaanian leather. They were her mothers, and purchased almost a week before the Death Star vaporized the planet. It was one of the last things she had of her parents. "Bakura." She need not to divulge more information than what was required to satisfy his curiosity. Several of her officers glanced her way, but they were quick to adjust their gaze as she passed. "We will leave in the morning." The tight corset made breathing difficult, but she enjoyed the way her torso looked in the uniform. Zend had been most grateful at their victory here, it was without a doubt, she had proved herself to be one of the most capable battle commanders.

"Aye, Commander." He rose to his feet and she dismissed him almost instantly. He looked relieved to be gone, but there was another matter at hand. Fink. He had gone missing in the last week, and it wasn't like him to not report in. His shuttle's transponder had disappeared off their tracking system, and that was nearly impossible, unless he meant for it. Frakking coward, Selena hissed. A couple of bounty hunters were next to be brought aboard. They weren't exactly standard issue. One had been imported from one of the systems they conquered in the Unknown. Long black leathery skin, much like her gloves, with gills that processed the oxygen in the air and converted it to hy'drx, a chemical required for their bodies to live outside their swamps. Dangerous species, but most adept at keeping themselves off the map.

"His last known coordinates and a list of his contacts. Start with Vera Nico, she might know something."

The other bounty hunter, a Trandoshan, had hissed. "Niccco?"

"Yes."

"Thhhat willl be difffficult." Krauss removed her firearm and shot the bounty hunter. Two droids broke formation and dragged his body away. She watched it go, the strange deathly twitches and muscle spazzes brought a lean smile to her face.

"Just you then," Krauss sighed, holstering her blaster, "You've never failed me before, Kraum, but this is a different region. Get up to speed, then track her down. I want to know what happened to our boy." Krauss turned and left the shadow-skinned creature behind her...
