Background:
A humid planet resting in the Polith System near the Rimma Trade Route, Thyferra is home to an insectoid species called the Vratix and a colony world for humans who harvest pure bacta from its depths. Thyferra is currently under Imperial influence and governed by the ruling dictatorship of Dmtir Bakh-Lowry centered in Zalxuc City. Short history of conflict include Grand Moff Kohl Seerdon's invasion in 2 ABY and Ysanne Isard coup of the planet; the legendary Bacta War . Thyferra has found relative peace of trade and society under Imperial control and the leadership of House Bakh-Lowry.

Xucphra and Zaltin: The Bacta Cartel

The primary export of Tyferra is its precious Bacta, found native to the planet. For hundreds of years, since at least the time of the last great Sith war, the Thyferran government was largely an extension of two major Bacta-production corporations -- Xucphra and Zaltin, both owned outright by Human interests in the Core. Under these bureaucracies, millions of Vratix labor to create Bacta. These corporations the former run by Lord Dmtir Bakh-Lowry, the latter willed to him by his late brother Ren Lowry. ruled by Lord Bakh-Lowry and under control of the empire, the two corporations, known as the Bacta Cartel, form the governing power of Thyferra.

House Bakh-Lowry

For hundreds of years, Lowry house has controlled in both production and trade. Ren Lowry and his Brother Dmtir were trained as heirs to the twin corporations. Ren, in charge of Zatlin corporation, was a kind leader. A family man, he treated the working Vratix with respect, working with them rather then oppressing them. Because of Bacta's influence, Ren essentially ran Thyferra as lord chancellor under the Empire. During the Bacta war, Rogue imperial leader Ysanne Isard descended upon the planet in a move to seize control of Bacta production. Even with the help of Rogue Squadron and the Ashern, a Vratix resistance group defeating Isard's fleet, the damage lent to the planet was done. Sold out by an anonomous source, Ren Lowry, his wife and children were brutally murdered at their private country home where they had sought sanctuary during the war. In a matter of years, Ren's brother, Dmtir, took control of both corporations, breaking apart Vratix resistance groups and taking for himself the title of Lord Chancellor with the aid of the Empire where it stands as present. Now, Bacta and the planet of Thyferra run smoothly as ever...

The Cartel's headquarters lay within sprawling grounds high above the capital cities Zucphra and Zatlin. The air was cleaner here, not that it was any kind of acrid, as the weather was temprate on most of Thyferra's human inhabited lands.

To Dmtir, however, the air smelled chemical. It was mostly his disposition, as well as the smell of fetid Denin, of fermenting bacta product turned alcoholic in the heat if the mills. This was where he'd spent the majority of the morning, supervising the Vratix labor workers, keeping an eye on the keepers and the Knytix farms. But now he was high up on the hill, away from the smog of workers dwellings.

Minerva brought him a coctail, even as he stood on the balcony overlooking the estate. There were Vratix working in the gardens. The young woman placed a fruit plate on the layout table.

"How many of the workers are documented?" Said Dmtir absently.

"All, my lord." Minerva spoke softy.

"But that one..." It was a tallish Vratix, with a purple skin tint. The Vratix were scraped daily of their Denin, therefore the one should not have been purple, but a dull swamp-green. "He's documented, and must have been scraped this morning."

Minerva looked uncertain as to a response. "It stands to reason, my lord..."

"See to it that he's down on paper, and make sure he's scraped properly. And if he resists have him put in the cages, I wont have my laborers withholding."

Minerva nodded. "of course, my lord." And left immediately, as she was bid.

Dmtir watched the Vratix carefully, then put a page out to intelligence. The head of security picked up.

"There's a Vratix coming in for scraping." Dmtir said by way of greeting. "Tall, with a tint. Have him detained and subject to interrogation. Suspicion of Ashern activity."

"Yes, Lord." Came the response.

Dmtir cut the link. How he loved a busy morning.

The swamp lands were humid, but in a pleasant way. The second the gangplank fell, Tseneca breathed in the smell of her homeworld, the lush and sharp scent of Denin, of soil and earth. It was clean here, like the country home her family had brought her up in. She could hear the coo of dove-like birds high in the willows. It hadn't been hard to find flat ground for the ships, with enough tree cover, but stepping out of that was ankle deep mud moss. Yes, just like home.

The Escrow's plank came down. Tseneca signalled to Lucas to keep Jonas hooked up to life support. She had to settle things first, make sure they were safe among these Ashern. If they were like the Ashern of her childhood, the were brash, roguish, and could be (necessarily) hostile.

However the moment she stepped from the ship she felt powerful leathery arms pull her forward, squeeze her tightly. Clicking filled her ear, and the tang of raw Denin filled her nose. Her head clouded with sharp pinks and oranges, a humming sound. K'nika.

She embraced the Vratix, feeling the rubbery skin of her neck and then pulled away. K'nika was a guava color, the color of warm excitement. She clicked wildly, and pulled out of Tseneca's head to speak to her in basic.

"My little bird! My little Sen! . How I thought you had perished. So big now! Look! you have feminine mounds!"

Tseneca blushed, and instinctively folded her arms across her chest. Count on K'nika to treat her as if she'd been gone on holiday, and not as a result of a blood seige. In Vratix years, Tseneca was still a child.

"K'nika." Said Tseneca, using the force to try and relate the urgency she felt. "I have a friend whose dying, I-- we need your help."

K'nika waved her claw. "It is nothing, nothing. Follow me, you and your number, you have safe harbor here. It is certain. Come little Sen, Ren's child, come!"

Tseneca signaled to the others and they came out of the ships, Lucas and Sethe pulling Jonas on the hover-gurney.

They walked to the Ashern base camp, a grouping of native made mud huts, as well as scrap tin shacks. The number of Vratix was good, a fair thirty to forty which included children, and nine or ten Knytix running around. Tseneca dodged a little female chasing a Knytix with a stick. "K'tilla!" K'nika hollered and the little one stopped dead, bowed in apology and then continued chasing after her pet..

"Yours?" Tseneca asked hearing the "K" prefix.

"Mine." said K'nika. "So goes the cycle. She's seventeen seasons."

Seventeen years and the child was the age equivalent of five human years. Not barely out of larval state. "You started a family?"

"My mate, M'glik... the same you spoke to with the fitSPELL. Its how i knew it was you. And it is you!" She pressed her forehead to Tseneca's lovingly. "After the siege, I knew the worst from you, your poor Father and mother, and Timote..." The Vratix shook her head. "Such a nightmare, a tragedy. But you! You survived! This is celebration cause!"

"First things first." Tseneca introduced the crew and K'nika turned turquoise, the collor of obligation and aquaitence. "We have to help our friend." Tseneca continued.

k'nika placed a gentle claw on Jonas. "He's fargone." She uttered with a look of overwhelming sympathy, but perhaps..."

She led them to one of the tin shack, a tumbledown. Inside though, lay bacta chambers lining the walls two deep.

"These stores hold Fid'ict. Acrid Bacta." K'nika said. "secret secret. If your uncle knew..."

"He's not my Uncle." Tseneca interrupted bitterly.

K'nika bobbed her head in an understanding way. "We can spare Fid'ict for your friend. We have enough."

So Jonas was submerged, in the makeshift medical chambers of the Ashern camp. Now all there was to do was wait.

The air on the world was serenity. He had been spoiled on Kuat, and after Coruscant and Felucia, this was welcomed paradise. He took several long breaths, feeling the purity cleanse his lungs of the radicals collected on the adventures elsewhere. Jonas was maintained to a hover, while Tseneca communicated with one of the Vratix. It was peaceful to watch, and Lucas could feel responsibility slowly filling up inside of the woman. Despite tragedies of the past, it was evident there were many more taking place in her absence.

The beat of the group changed as Jonas was hoisted into the strange bacta, his body danced in the liquid, the strange bacta moving and excitedly repairing the damaged tissue much faster than the original. Lucas put his hand to the glass, using whatever Force he could conjure to assist. The fact was, Anakin had taught him little when it came to a medical understanding, something Cighal would come in handy, should he ever have any spare time.

It was strange to have one's feelings submerged on the health of another being. He had never felt the ping of death, and the darkness of which She brought. On Kuat, death was embodied as a woman, with a mythical kiss which would forever seal one's fate. The Jedi taught something different. Skywalker had promised that all living beings returned to the Force. A sort of universal bliss, a perfect balance. Lucas turned away, perhaps on the teachings of the Jedi, a dark shadow casting across his face as he watched Tseneca reconnect with another insectoid.

"Life cannot be controlled. Fear of death, can lead to the darkside." Master De'ghaul spoke, his eyes scanning the children in the room. He stopped on the younger boy, Lucas shifted uncomfortably. Forcing Lucas to participate, to reveal the nature of his feelings, the Master asked, "What are you afraid of Lucas?"

Lucas hated the fact he was put on the spot, and reeled as the question revealed something so private to his entire class mates. His siblings tossed him a look, they too were caught off guard. Lucas buried his hands into his lap, his fingernails pinching and attempted to deeply scratch his thumb. Anything to take away from the sudden surge of embarrassment. A warm drop of blood escaped his hand, but it went unnoticed by any of the room, including their instructor. He was ready to answer, though.

"Master, I am not afraid to die. I guess," Lucas could feel the strange sense of humiliation attack his soul, "But I don't think I could live without the ones I care about." Lucas tried hard not to look into Bella or Damian. What would life be without them? Or his mother... anyone that meant anything to him, the reason to live.

The Master swept across the room, Lucas now squeezed the self-inflicted wound on his thumb to coo a sense of calm as the older man lowered to meet eye to eye. "Lucas you touch on an important trait of the Jedi. We hold many abilities, and while we can help many people, we can only do so much. When one leaves the physical body, the soul becomes part of the Force. A balanced bliss, fused with happiness and reward. We have no idea what awaits across the veil, but pain and suffering ends."

"How do you know?" Lucas asked, forgetting to add Master to the sentence, "Master" came the delayed respects.

"Skywalker has seen across the veil. It is true, if he says it is." The Master rose from his crouched position, his eyes now metaphorically peering down towards the pupil. Lucas couldn't help but resist this belief on the basis of the say-so of Skywalker. He saw across the veil? He withheld any further questions, and let the Master return to instruction.

Lucas realized he must've slipped into a daze, a strange hallucination overcame him. Where Tseneca was standing, the artistic paintings of Kuati's symbol of death stood before him. She was as beautiful as all poets and scholars described her. Her lips were pure, but it was the eyes that dragged Lucas into her surrounding essence. They were dangerous, much like the gaze a predator would give to its prey before the fatal strike. "He is so close, I can feel it," She breathed, her words stirred the deepest of his soul, as he almost wept at them. The command of her voice was sterile, void of emotion, but Lucas could feel the temptation of her presence. She wanted Lucas to fight, to struggle. To claim Jonas as his own, and to defy her magnificence. "I will take him," She was calling to him now, calling him to say anything, that would persuade her otherwise.

Lucas couldn't open his mouth to say the words, to resist, just watching as she reached into the tank and pull Jonas out. He was alive now, his eyes had opened just wide enough for her to look into them. Lucas struggled, rising to his feet in a sloppy haste to get to him, but she extended her hand and a strange energy wrapped around him. He felt hot, almost boiling inside, watching her lips lower, until finally, they met Jonas. A whine, before his body fell limp.

Lucas shot awake, his body stirring from the sudden drift in consciousness. Everyone in the room had, in some way or form, been staring at him. The computer screen flashed a blank line, and the subject read: Life Signs: Zero, the only thing he was able to read in Basic...

Badim’s head lowered, feeling the weight and pain this put on Lucas, the same feeling Jelahan had put on him. They all had lost a friend, Jonas Eisley was dead. Sara turned her back to the group, even if she held harsh feelings of betrayal and hurt from the man, she couldn’t help but feel the pain that was within everyone now, her face swelling with silent tears as did several others in the group.

Feelings of Clare filled him, the same that were overcoming Lucas as his face slowly fell blank, more so than it was before.
Badim turned and began to make his way back to the Leaper, to leave Lucas alone as he himself would have wanted on Coruscant. Until…

Sudden panic flooded the room as the life signs dropped to Zero. The Vratix moved with inhuman speed, pulling and removing the boy from the tank. Special machines were connected, and a jolt of energy surged through the organic flesh. Jonas twitched. Alisson had uploaded the information on the Vratix dialect, enough to understand their conversation.

"He was weaker than we first thought. We might have not put enough stimulation enzymes inside." Their physical colors darted across several varieties, a wide range of emotion, it seemed.

"Humans have always been a delicate species." The other answered, clicked more gruffly than those they had first encountered.

Alisson approached Lucas, her arms easily setting on his shoulders, comforting him as he watched impatiently. He moved to help, but she restrained him as a new instrument appeared. Strong metal prongs touched near his heart, the other two Vratix applying a thick coating of the strange bacta fluid. If this didn't work, Alisson had identified the strange piece of technology as a last resort method, she feared the worst.

A surge of green energy, and Jonas breathed once more.

It took several minutes, before the Vratix allowed anyone near. Lucas was the first, and the only, Tseneca and Alisson turning the group to the opposite wall to give them some privacy. When given a moment, Alisson asked Tseneca, "What do you make of their situation?" Alisson had heard enough idle conversation to understand it was bad. Not many of the galaxy questioned the source of the bacta. For all intensive purposes, the flow had increased, and everyone was happy, except these people were suffering.

Jaira felt relieved. Even if she had only barely met the crew, she couldn’t help but feel worried and fear the worst for Jonas as with everyone else. Badim turned to head back to the Leaper, his cloak whipping from the force of his turn. She watched him go, wondering if he was going to leave for Ord Mantell now that Jonas was safe. If he was, she wondered why he was heading to the Leaper. Her thoughts relieved again when she saw him take a brisk turn and head for a hill in the distance, a long walk from here. She had a thought of joining, but decided to stay.

Sara seemed to jerk, wanting to rush after him and join him herself, but fell back within the group after a quick thought.
Jaira looked around the camp as Alisson asked Tseneca, "What do you make of their situation?"
She knew the question was directed to Tseneca and kept her mouth shut, looking at the Vratix in the small village around them. They tried to have a merry step, but they still emanated despair.

Tseneca was breathing normally again. After watching Jonas slip and then recover again. She rested her hand instinctively to her breast, slowing her rapid heartbeat.

"Its...complicated." She said, looking at Allison. "It seems the Vratix in most parts of Thyferra are being used as wage laborers. K'nika has been telling me that they are being taken from villages, snatched in the night. Their young especially, the ones peaking adolescence. They are taken to the cities and scraped of the Denin, which the Cartel uses for Bacta production."

Allison shook her head. "its... barbaric."

"It wasn't always like this." Tseneca watched the Ashern medical workers mill about. "When my father held the Cartel, we worked with the Vratix, co-existing. Other then the fact that Dmtir can reach a higher quota for production, there's no reason why he should be using the Vratix as slaves. Its unthinkable."

"Unthinkable, but a truth well told." K'nika's mate, M'glik, approached. He was surly, just as he was on the comm, but softer then he had been. "Your father was great. Young Sen. We can welcome you here then, as his offspring."

"My Uncle cannot know I'm here." She responded, a little taken aback by the sound of her childhood name coming from the large alpha.

"This commune is well hidden, and we are trusted to you as we are trusting you and those of your number." M'glik replied, becoming rosy with warning.

"You have nothing to fear from us."

M'glik bowed his head in consult. Tseneca caught Badim leaving the shack and excused herself, following him.

Sethe watched Tseneca leave. He felt odd-out, but remained quiet, even as he left the shack closely behind her. The sun was high, it was more or less noon.

He strode over to the center area, where Vratix were watching their young play. While the ground was muddy here where the commune was placed, it was more of a meadow resting deep within the swamp. Flat grounds, wet with moisture but ideal for hiding out. Dmtir didn't know about this operation, wouldn't, if the Ashern weren't betrayed.

One of the young ran into him, chasing one of the little pets. It... he?... was small and bounced back with the force. Sethe knelt and picked him up. "Slow down there, pup." He said softly, and the little one blushed a pale pink before running off.

The adults were looking at Sethe, even as he brushed his knees off. He felt slightly unwelcome. These people wern't trusting, not that they had any reason to be. He went toward them tentatively, and they opened their circle for him.

"You are one of the new humans, no?" One large said softly. They were all female, Sethe saw. A mother's group. "You are kind to the young I see."

Sethe gave her a smile. "Young is young, be it insectoid or devanoranian. My name is Sethe."

"Tell us then, Set." She mispronounced his name. "Is it true what is said, that the Zressa is back?"

"Zressa?" He ventured.

"The... basic word is hair?"

"Oh, you mean Tseneca Lowry? The Heiress. Yes, thats why we're here."

The large vratix turned to the other women and they clicked in unison, the equivelent of gossip filled twittering.

"True then! True! What we've been waiting for, no?" said a thin female. She was shouldering a larvae, which, from time to time, would suck at the denin pouches on her shoulder.

"Whats that?" Sethe scratched his head.

"Don't you know?" spoke up the large one. "Young Sen is Zressa. Its bloodlines more powerfull than tyrant, yes?"

Sethe took a second. Bloodlines more powerful than tyrant? That couldn't mean...

Yes, yes it could.

"You're saying Tsen- Young Sen-- is going to help free the Vratix from Dmtir's rule?"

The large one turned yellow, shivering with pleasure. "Bloodlines more powerful than Tyrant. She is Zressa, under her the Denin will belong to us ourselves once more..."

Sethe turned away from the group, bidding them goodbye. Someone had to tell Tseneca she was the expected messiah. Oh, Mesh'la, what have you gotten yourself into now...

Badim strode silently, and hopefully, alone towards a hill in the distance. The sun beginning to shine and awake over it. It attracted him curiously, wondering what he’d see on the other side of it’s casting shadows. As he walked, he felt the calm, soft, clean smelling air try to caress him beneath his cloak, but was blocked by it. He pulled his entire hood back calmly, but still tingeing with hate and remorse, slow and deliberate.
The winds seemed to take him to a better place, but he knew it was only an illusion his mind tried to play.

He wondered about Sara. She had advanced on him last night, kissing him as she tried to find who she really belonged with, Jonas being an obvious not. He forgave her, of course. She was his friend and loyal all the same, and he knew it might have been her determination to enjoy what Badim and Clare had reaped, but also trying to comfort Badim through his trying and difficult tribulations. She wanted Jelahan dead as well, but Badim was conflicted with the constant thought of Retribution or Forgiveness.

He didn’t know what to choose: Forgiveness would have him keep to his path of letting innocents go. But Jelahan blurred the line to such an extent Badim couldn’t see what he was until now. A father mourning the loss of a loved one. But he was also a murderer, killing Clare, recently redeemed as an innocent herself.
Retribution would feed the hate that swelled and burned inside him, fulfilling it’s hunger and releasing it’s hold on him. But it would also make Clare turn inside her grave, wherever it was.

He reached the top of the hill, seeing the glistening lakes and seas beyond it. It was beautiful and he couldn’t help but sit and cross his legs together to enjoy it. Heaving a gentle sigh that Clare wasn’t here to enjoy it with him.
“Badim?” he turned, seeing Tseneca calmly walking up the hill to check on him again, it seemed, “How are you?”

Badim turned back to the scenery, Tseneca sitting next to him. He replied, not towards how he was, however. His life didn’t matter anymore, only that of his friends and Clare being avenged. How? He still hadn’t decided, “How’s Jonas?”

“He’s fine now. He’ll pull through,” Tseneca said, letting her breath slow and calm from the thought of loosing a friend. But she asked the same question as before, “But what about you?”

“I just don’t know anymore,” Badim said, heaving another sigh, “I thought Jelahan was a murderer just out to cause mischief and despair in my life. But he’s also a father mourning the loss of his son. And even if his methods of collecting justice are flawed, he’s…” he tried to utter the next word that had been conflicting him recently, countering his resolve for vengeance.

Innocent?” Tseneca asked, trying to help Badim find word he was searching for.

“…Yes.”

"There's nothing innocent about vengeance. Trust me." She said. "Look at these people." She waved a hand at the commune, which was shrouded by trees below the hill. "Their being oppressed, but they don't seek vengeance for the wrongs done them, the numbers of them killed in the name of production. If you have killed someone Jelahan loved and now he has sought vengeance on you by killing someone you loved, and then you seek vengeance on him once more, where does it end Badim?"

There was no clear answer to this, she knew. there was no lessening heartbreak by rhetoric, no lecturing away the pain, but on the other hand it was wearisome the way he pandered on about it. There was acceptance and then there was the bubbling flood of toil in the mind, Badim was pursuing the latter and it would, eventually, drive him insane.

"I spent nearly a year and a half taking orders from the woman who had my family killed. all I would have gleaned from taking would have been a court marshall, a death sentence and blood on my hands. I would have lost the one person i loved." She paused. "Although i suppose i lost him anyway, but the point is... weigh your options. Killing Jelahan wont bring Clare back."

“But I didn’t kill Jelahan’s son by Dirod’s Hand or anyone else’s order,” he paused, letting that night five years ago come back to him, “I kill Jelahan’s son in self defense. Not only for myself, but for Jaira. She was my eighth release since Sara. I was hired to kill her as with so many others.”

“But you let her go?” she asked.

“Yes,” Badim said, “I returned to Boz Loren that night for another mission. To help another innocent escape or kill another murderer. He found out about the betrayal, along with several other of my releases. He had recaptured Jaira, and was going to kill her if I didn’t step in,” he took in a deep breath, “I gave him a chance to live, but he took it and almost blew my head off. And I killed him in self-defense. I know killing Jelahan won‘t bring Clare back. But if I don‘t do anything to stop Jelahan, and he came after me again, to harm one of you…” he turned to Tseneca, letting the weight of his newfound convictions, to not only avenge Clare, but to protect the rest of his new family, “I wouldn’t be able to handle it…”

The last tendrils of the Sarlacc were finally gone, replaced with healed wounds and fresh flesh. Jonas scanned his body, feeling an out pour of happiness drain from his veins. The Sarlacc's connection was oddly violent and he could feel the hunger and the anger it experienced when Lucas and Sara entered the Ancient Abyss. Though that was gone now, and his own thoughts were freshly abundant and clear.

Jonas felt Lucas embrace him, the softness of the Kuati's skin was refreshing in many forms, as life slowly returned to his body, maybe a little too much. Strange insects clicked over him, moving and prodding certain areas of his torso. It was then he had no idea where or what exactly had happened to him. "Where the hell are we?"

"Thyferra." Lucas responded, using a towel to absorb leftover bacta fluid. The taste of bacta was usually revolting, but this particular brand was very much intoxicating. It was borderline addictive. "What is that?" Jonas inquired, a little more serious than his last question. Lucas fanned out the Vratix, persuading them that Jonas was fine.

"Some sort of secret elixir, utlra rare stuff." Lucas answered, "What's the last thing you remember?" He seemed anxious, and Jonas gloated for a moment in the hesitation to answer. Jonas reflected momentarily, recalling his plunge into the Sarlacc, and being assimilated against the wall of digested peoples. He remembered the kiss the pair had shared, and the laughter exchanged after pushing their way through an anal cavity. The mere thought of being processed by a creature of thousands of years, brought a smile to his face. "So you remember?" Lucas seemed to want to confirm, before planting another one.

"Yeah," Jonas rolled, his body felt amazing. "I feel fine." He attempted to rise, but a sharp pain brought him back to his knees. "Almost."

"A nights rest," A male Vratix announced, "We have special fluids to speed the recovery." Lucas assisted him to a make-shift bedding of sorts, and Jonas was content to just lay there. Life aboard the Leaper was going to change, and the dynamics between him and Lucas were going to be much more... interesting.

Sitting up, Jonas slurped a massive container of iced vitamins and medicine, though it was remotely similar to a Berry Galactic Slush. "What did I miss?"

Tseneca rose and shook the dirt off of her jegging pants. "you have to do what you want. I've said my piece. Just remember, a life for a life is a cycle that can never be broken. Even if its only your strength of spirit that carries it on."

She turned to leave and saw Sethe coming up the hill. He stopped a ways from them.

"Interrupting?" he asked looking from Badim to herself.

"No, i was just leaving." he was a little out of breath. "What is it?"

" I just had a conversation with some of the Ashern. It seems that they are under the impression that your going to rise up against Dmtir with your wayward band of mercs and overthrow his fascist regime while freeing Vratix slaves. Know anything about that?"

Tseneca felt her blood run cold. "We'd better talk to the Alpha."

So much for not seeking vengeance, Badim muttered in his head as he was left to the hill for himself. But quickly resolving that he should be apart of this event. He stood, quickly following Tseneca and Sethe down the hill. This was possibly the last time he was ever going to see any of them again, he didn’t know what kind of hole he’d be in after Jelahan, so he wanted to cherish what he could with the rest of the crew before he left for Ord Mantell.

The rest of the crew were assembled, save for Lucas and Jonas. They saw Tseneca, Sethe and himself entering the mud-hut where the Alpha was and curiosity got the better of them as they all filed in, listening to Tseneca speak.

The hut was quiet even as Tseneca walked in, Badim behind her, Sethe at her side. Lucas had left Jonas to lie in the infirmiry, in order to hear the meeting.

They took a seat, in the commune circle. M'glik, as Alpha male, took height. He towered, a lustrous green as according to his authority

"Young Sen." He said, his voice reader booming. "The Ashern welcome you, you are here, and can call us as home, or family, as can your number so they should choose."

Tseneca nodded in consent, and K'nika place her youngling in her lap as a symbol of trust. The little Vratix made a cooing sound, which warmed Tseneca's heart, even as she cuddled it to her chest. The Alpha continued.

"But as Vratix, today we face such a problem as been thrown to us by nemesis." He paused, and telepathecally shot images of terrifying reds and Dark blacks, the images of slaughter and enslavement. Tseneca held the youngling tighter as she shivered in her arms, cowering from the thoughts being presented by her sire.

There was quiet, a knowing silence. Tseneca took in a breath.

"I cant help you." She said, cradling the child. "Its not in my capacity to gain back what has been lost. My father is dead, and with him the values he taught..."

"If that were so," Said K'nika, "Then you would not be here, speaking our language and comforting our young. You are our hope Little Sen. you know it."

She looked at the council of Vratix, as they gazed at her hopefully. In her mind, through the force, she felt Lucas encouraging her. It wasn't enough that she be here, not enough that she see their plight and not come to their aid.

"my mate speaks truly." Said M'glik. "Even as we sit here, Vratix are being punished for no other reason then that they are Vratix. Their bodies are being pillaged of their juices, their muscles of their strength. We are the lucly ones, but for how long can we sit and hear of our people perishing?"

Tseneca thought of her family, on that dark and terrible day when they were killed by Issards people. She thought of how this world used to be, how it once was, how her father had known it...

"Just..." She started. Then she knew, she knew they had to stay here, to help, to fight in this resistance...

She handed K'tilla back to her mother gently, then stood. She looked at the leaper crew, adressing them.

"I wont ask you to stay here, nor will I ask you to fight a battle that isn't yours. I'm not righteous about this, but it must be done." She turned to The Alpha, to K'nika. "I'll stay here then, with your acceptance, we'll see what can be done."

Badim listened as M’glik and Tseneca discussed, then to Tseneca addressing the crew, telling them they didn’t have to fight or join her. She quickly turned after acknowledging the crew to agree to help the Vratix. The room fell silent, Tseneca keeping her back turned to them while she waited, wondering if anyone would join her or if this was truly her own battle against her uncle.
Badim was leaned up against the walls of the hut, arms crossed as he began:
“To know you’re close to the end is a kind of freedom.” Badim said, everyone turning as he spoke.
“Outgunned…” he said, noting what army Tseneca’s uncle could have, “Outnumbered…” a ragtag, motley crew of misfits and a primitive army of Vratix against the sound army he had just referenced, “Out of our minds. On a suicide mission.”

He let the words hang in the air for a moment, letting everyone consider the fact that was trying to be hidden.

“But the sands, rocks, grass and waters here, stained with the blood of Vratix slaves and workers for their attempts at freedom during the Bacta Wars so many years ago…” he paused, catching his breath and mind, “They will remember us. For this.”

“Because amidst all the vast array of nightmares and ways to die, or for the flickers of hope that line each and every one of us in any shape or form… This.” he thrust his finger to the ground, then pointing it in the direction where Dmtir’s Palace lay in the far distance, “This is the one we choose for ourselves. For the younglings here and for the younglings yet to be born.”

“With vigor in our hearts and the might that no man, woman, creature or army could withstand with one goal in sight:” he paused, letting the words hang again, “Today is the day that Dmtir’s reign of terror and exploit ends. And The Leapers will bring upon a Blight that Dmtir has never seen in all his days. And he will tremble.

Badim lifted his head and sights from the floor, making sure his face was seen to all in the room, “I’m in."

Seth slapped Badim on the back. "Well said, that 'rocks, and trees... vigor no man, no woman' stuff, reminds me of a mandalore haiku i read somewhere. Count me in." He nodded toward Tseneca. The others in the crew nodded in agreement. And Tseneca smiled in a knowing way.

"I thought you said you didn't go for causes?" Lucas whispered as the Vratix continues to click in celebration.

"Some causes are worth going for." Sethe said, grinning.

The Vratix shifted from many colors, obviously the speech had stirred the room, and many of the crew were already vouching their support. Attention shifted to Master Durron and Lucas. They needed to position themselves carefully in this matter, as it could have probable repercussions stretching across the entire galaxy. Durron acknowledged, pledging to the cause, and Lucas dipped his head. Approaching Tseneca, he said, "Looks like you've got the whole crew, Captain." A lean smirk escaped his lips, before clasping a nearby Vratix.

"We need a plan."

Frak. A plan was something she didn't have. Ideas, yes, plan no.

The chamber emptied with the exception of the leaper crew, M'glick and K'nika.

"If I I show up at the estate and try to so this diplomatically, who knows what Dmtir would do. He was so quick to take the Cartel over when my father died, having me present proposes a very real threat..."

"You can't put yourself in the line of danger, and I don't think this can be handled diplomatically." Sethe said. "What have we got to work with? Two Jedi, an assassin, a bounty hunter, a Diathim, the son of a Hutt, and me..."

Lucas cleared his throat. "The heir to Kuati shipyards and his slightly infirmed Telburn..."

Tseneca looked at him sternly. "You can't be serious."

"Why not," Lucas shrugged. "Jonas will be up and at em in a matter in a day or so, and my family imports from Thyferra consistantly. We'd be welcome in the house, treated as guests and can glean information on the best way to get in, out, and on with it..."

"I dont know..." Tseneca felt oddly, didn't want Lucas putting himself on the line like that. But perhaps he was right, perhaps that was the easiest way.

"Then its settled." Sethe said. "Once Jonas is good to go, it only a matter of dressing up and looking the part. Its a step in the right direction."

Kyp slid each of his hands into opposite sleeves. The speech gave him the impression that he wasn't coming back from this. Kyp glanced to the assassin. I don't know about you, pal, but crispy Jedi isn't going to be served on the menu tonight. Attacking a government, despite it's outlook on life, was usually a task reserved for an army. Not just a motley crew of ten.

He as well as Lucas were definitely treading on dangerous ground. Failure could lead to a death sentence. It looked as though the Vratix had it rough enough as it was. Their plan hinged on Tseneca's uncle not being a complete loon. He didn't like it, but he had nothing better.

Badim exited the hut and into the beginning hours of the afternoon. They were going to head out as soon as Jonas was well enough to move on his own and fight, tomorrow perhaps, the day after at the most. The planning was done for the most part: Badim and Sara would enter Xucphra from one location, while Lucas and Jonas entered from another. They would play the same role in two different locations to recon the area quicker. H6 was going to sneak into the city tonight and get into a sniping position near the palace to cover their eventual assault. He was excited when Badim told him over the comlink he borrowed from Sara, beginning to gear up and make the long, eighty-five kilometer brisk walk to Xucphra. Badim wouldn’t be surprised if H6 was already gone by the time he got back to the Leaper.

The soothing air around him made his body briefly shiver in enjoyment, a tingle running up his spine. He looked down, seeing he still had his vibrosword strapped to his side, bringing it along just in case the Vratix became violent. He almost drew it too when the Vratix swarmed over Tseneca when they arrived. He tilted his head back to the hut, looking inside to see Tseneca finalizing her part of the plan with Jaira, Firi, Dex.
Sara, Kyp and Lucas listening and giving the occasional comment. Kyp was still up in the air, swaying to either side of the assault: The recon teams with Lucas, Jonas, Sara and himself or the main force with Tseneca, Firi, Dex, Jaira and the rest of the Ashern Resistance. It wasn’t going to be all out war as some had thought, even himself. It was going to be a tactical strike. Dmtir and the palace were the only targets, they didn’t need to attack the whole city, they just needed to get as close as they could to Dmtir, then attack.

Badim looked at Tseneca once more before he turned to head back to the hill where he could think, and meditate in his own way. Tseneca briefly turned to see him, her face full of confidence as she paused her words to face Badim, but he could see the tinge of fear in her eyes. This was a tough call, and it’d be a miracle if anyone of them came out alive.
Badim turned to the Leaper to drop his cloak off inside. It was starting to get humid and he had the luxury he hadn’t had on Felucia to place it somewhere. He instantly began to feel the cool of the world around him with the winds, feeling like he could run without fear of overheating finally. H6 had left, leaving to begin his portion of the plan and get in the most ideal position a droid could ask for, Perfection.

Badim exited the ship and turned to the hill again, reaching the top with no trouble. He unsleeved his sword, closed his eyes and began to swing at invisible targets as he recited The Way of the Blade, he kept his ears open for anyone who would come and interrupt his session, to make sure he didn’t accidentally cut them down with a stray swing:
“To mold the mind and body.”
“To cultivate a vigorous spirit,”
“And through correct and rigid training, To strive for improvement in the Way of the Blade.”
“To hold in esteem human courtesy and honor. To associate with others with sincerity.”
“And to forever pursue the cultivation of oneself.”
“And to stay one’s blade from the flesh of the innocent.”

His eyes opened to the array of colors on Thyferra, feeling embraced as he sleeved his sword and sat on the ground again. Faintly seeing H6 rushing through the valley in the direction of Xucphra, eager to begin his mission and snipe as many guards once they began and as he pleased.
Badim took in a deep breath, letting the mixture of aromas fill him with the cool breeze that slowly started. He knew killing Jelahan wouldn’t bring Clare back. Nothing could bring her back now. But with sorrow and remorse he had already accepted that fact. To kill Jelahan wasn’t just a way to avenge Clare, but to also protect his new family.
Tseneca still didn’t see it: Jelahan was egging him on, purposely giving Badim who he was and who was also involved. And if he got impatient, he’d send another message to Badim through the death of another aboard the Leaper. He couldn’t let that happen, and The Sands of Time were falling to their last grains, another message fast approaching.

He needed to leave for Ord Mantell after the Vratix were free of Dmtir, to prevent what he feared. This wasn't just to continue a cycle of a life for a life anymore: If he sat out, another will die until he did react.

Tag: Jess Alex had the idea that Tseneca would have a quick duel with Badim and lose (his idea, not mine). Then later Lucas would fight Badim, catch a few weaknesses or something, then tell Tseneca, who would then use it for a more fair fight next time they battled. But that's your call, and you can actually have Tseneca jump in now if you want.

Jonas shifted his weight, bringing one of the data padds closer for inspection. He played with the holo net, bringing some local information from his neighborhood on Nar Shaddaa. He still hadn't faced his parents, and maybe, he never would. He came close, prior to stumbling into Nico's assault on the half-cyborg half-man Morgan. Lucas entered the room, Jonas setting the padd aside and watched the Jedi approach and drop nearby. The Kuati asked, "You okay?"

Jonas ran his hands over his body, "Seems good. I should be fine tomorrow, really."

"You looked pretty frakked up, not going to lie."

"Thanks," Jonas rolled his eyes, the thirst never seemed to be quenched, as he took down another vitamin-infused smoothie. A Vratix emerged momentarily to provide a fresh one, before disappearing into the next room. "So you jumped into a Sarlacc for me."

Lucas laughed, "Yeah, I guess I did." They basked in the moment, taking the joy to heart, before Lucas shifted, "I would've done it for just about anyone though. So, don't feel all that special..."

"So your a hero-whore, huh?"

"Something like that." Lucas looked over his shoulder, "Uh, and Sara?"

Jonas had forgot she even took the dive, and was rather shocked. Her feelings were mildly ambiguous, and the signs were there, now that he looked back on them, but... "Yeah," He chuckled softly, still unsure how to really react to such a profound gesture. "Feel kinda bad for her."

"Ah, she'll get over it. Before you know it, she'll be onto the next guy..." Jonas snickered, but stopped suddenly. Sara had entered the room, and he wasn't sure just how much she might've heard. Lucas didn't seem to notice, but the sudden vanish of emotion meant he sensed her. Jonas flashed a cheesy grin, "Hi..."

--Onto the next guy, she scoffed in her head. Lucas didn‘t feel the pain she was enduring. No one except Badim, Tseneca and Alisson knew about her losing her family, not being able to even feel emotion besides muffled and snuffed remorse from the loss. And her only chance to feel again, it seemed, was mistakenly placed in Jonas‘ hands, being snatched by Lucas. She sighed in her mind, she didn’t want to dwell on it, but her mind kept coming back to it. She needed to face it in order to move on.
She entered the room right shortly after Lucas' comment was made, the room falling silent, full of stares. She knew she wasn’t welcome and had the thought to make a snarky comment, turn and leave. But then Jonas acknowledged her with a sort of grin and a Hi.
“Hey,” she said as she calmly walked further into the room, then leaning up against the bacta tank Jonas had been in just a hour or so ago, not wanting to take a seat and impose on the two. She couldn’t help but look into the tank, seeing the bubbles of the rare and experimental bacta float diligently to the surface. She turned to Jonas, “How you feeling?”

Jonas shrugged, then quickly drank the water set in front of him, quickly being replaced by a Vratix, “As good as one could be after being eaten by a Sarlacc.”

“I bet,” she snickered. But Jonas mentioning the Sarlacc made her think of Valexxia, why he’d choose to be with her and not herself, “It’s a weird… Shivering experience being in a Sarlacc, melding with it and sharing the memories of hundreds of beings. Your’s specifically… And Valexxia…” she let her head hang, it must have been a sensitive subject for him, having felt the feelings he felt, she knew she was treading on thin ice. She rubbed her arm in a nervous notion, she was uncomfortable, having an almost homosexual experience didn‘t comfort her in the least. She told him she felt the pleasure he felt, the pain he felt Valexxia put on him.
“I thought I felt something between us, when we looked at each other when Nico attacked on Denon. I thought something was happening between us…” she said, Lucas shifting uneasily, but Jonas kept content with Sara, hearing her vent no matter how it hurt, whether it did or not was to be seen. Sara turned to the door and slowly began to make her way out, “But after seeing your memories, and how you love Lucas. I can see I was mistaken in what I felt…” she made it to the door, the two looking at her as she paused, seeing her heave a sigh as she continued, “But I accept it. You can’t change who you are, Jonas, if you’re happy the way you are, and I’m fine with it now.”
She didn’t turn, but began to continue her way out…
