In 12 ABY after the unification of the Imperial force under Admiral Daala Kyp participated in the defense of the Yavin 4 Jedi Praxeum. Though injured in battle, Kyp managed to escape the battle and retreat towards the Core. Kyp also participated in the victorious Battle of Mon Calamari against Admiral Daala's forces. While hostilities continued between the Imperial forces and Republic Kyp often split his time between training as a Jedi and training as a pilot. Until 21 ABY Kyp often participated in Naval and Ground warfare in favor of the Republic. Kyp favored an aggressive stance in the war between the two factions where as other Jedi often held a neutral or passive stance.

With the Document of Unification signed and in acted Kyp returned to his life as a full time Jedi and began the training of his own padawan.
