The Indigo Tower, located in Coruscant's Senate District, was hardly a restaurant for those on the street just looking for a quick meal. If one intended to dine here, they should expect to pay out of the pocket for it. Only the wealthy could afford to reserve a table in the luscious tower, which stood high above Coruscant's skyline to offer the most stunning views of the city. Modeled after the former Skysitter restaurant of the Old Republic, the Indigo Tower rotated on its central spire, providing patrons with a complete panoramic vista. It was the main draw of the restaurant and Han figured the main reason why Leia had wanted to dine here this evening.

It was also the main reason why the place was so damned expensive...

"The service better be included in the money I already put down to reserve this place," Han muttered under his breath as he watched the waiter walk away from their table. Of course, the kid had expressed quite an interest in their choices for the evening, but Han knew that was all for show. All he wanted was their money and a big, fat tip. It was all the same wherever they went - act friendly with the celebrities and come out rich. "The food better be worth it too, for that matter," he added on for good measure, one corner of his mouth lifting in a slight sneer.

Leia, sitting across from him in a formal dress suit that accentuated all the right places and looking as pretty as ever, smiled warmly as she leaned back into her chair. She seemed unperturbed by his concern over cost. "I think we can afford to indulge occasionally," she pointed out in a playful tone.

The mark of a true politician; throwing around money wherever and whenever they saw fit. Some things never changed. "Keep up that kind of attitude and we'll be out in the streets in no time," he reminded her in an equally playful tone, finally allowing himself to relax a bit.

"I hope I won't have to deal with that kind of attitude when it comes to baby showers and whatnot," she continued while taking a sip of her drink, giving him that look as she glanced up from behind the rim of the glass.

He should have seen that one coming. Ever since Jaina's special announcement earlier that day that she would be bringing a child into this galaxy, Leia had been taking advantage of every open opportunity to remind him of the imminent bundle of joy. For whatever reason, he suspected that she just enjoyed seeing the look of pure terror and joy that crossed his face whenever she brought it up. Curse women and their ulterior motives...

"Well, you'll be shelling out for that stuff, not me," he remarked with a satisfied grin. He brought the wine glass to his lips and allowed the amber liquid to warm his throat before continuing. "That's your area of expertise."

Leia attempted to conceal a laugh, but it came out as a sarcastic snort instead, her dark eyes glistening with amusement. At least it was a sure sign that she still knew how to have fun after all these years. "I thought you'd be happier that one of them is finally giving us grandkids."

He glanced up at her, quirking one eyebrow curiously as he played with the stem of the wine glass. All things considered, he was thrilled to be able to have the opportunity to spoil another kid. But the title of 'grandfather' still gave him reservations over the whole thing. Then again, he had said the same thing when Leia had announced that they were going to have kids of their own, making him a father. He had survived that. This was just the next big step.

"Sure, I'm happy," he finally contended, taking another long sip of the wine. "If only it didn't officially make me old." He paused here, offering a teasing smile to challenge his wife. "Besides, can you imagine having little versions of Jag running around?" He curled up his nose in mock distaste, pushing the glass away as he waited for the inevitable rebuttal from Leia.

Leia laughed as she reflected over the thought. She knew, however, that to Han there was an element of truth in it. He was never Jag's greatest fan. Her husband never could entirely drop the anti-Imperial sentiment that they had both been steeped in for decades. But Leia felt no more animosity - if she would have allowed it to control her entire life, she may well have never desired to crawl out of bed in the mornings.

"I think people said the same thing to me when we got married," she recalled. Of course, no one had outrightly questioned her decision to wed Han - aside from the Hapan government, naturally. But she had received many a cold shoulder from the Alliance brass at the revelation of her choice of partner. "Didn't turn out so bad."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Han questioned, his brow almost-imperceptibly pushing down. "At least I didn't turn out to be an Imperial Moff."

"Unless you're holding out on me," Leia quipped, a smile playing on her face. "You did turn out to be a CEO, though." She took a moment to contemplate the differences between contemporary Moffs and corporation leaders.

"And a damn good one at that," her husband smirked.

Leia's mind sighed. She instantly knew where this conversation was going to go. He was a damn good one. That much was certain. But he was also getting older. He was almost seventy - he wasn't yet at the age of retirement, but he had had a long, arduous life. Leia had convinced him finally to hand over the reigns, and he had agreed. She suspected that for years deep down he had wanted to move away from the business, but frequently Han did not admit these things for himself. He needed a bit of nudging so he could agonize over the decision for a while. Parts of him were still not fully convinced.

"By the way," she began, her right hand absently picking up and playing with her fork. She drove the tines into her knife and spoon repeatedly, producing a small, distracting ting. "Have you heard any more from Anakin yet?"

"He keeps saying he needs to think about it, but I think he's avoiding it," Han responded, his expression drooping. He stared idly out of the nearest viewport.

Perhaps that Anakin was involved was the reason Han was so conflicted. Their youngest son had always been on the go and was always fairly close with Luke, Leia's Jedi brother. But he had taken an interest in Solo Enterprises after their daughter Jaina had left to pursue her own goals and her romance with Jagged Fel. Jaina had been the heir apparent, but it was funny how quickly things could change.

Leia boldly spoke. "He's still young yet. Maybe he's worried about settling into a permanent role like that," she concluded. She hoped not to offend her husband by implying that he was old. He was surprisingly sensitive about such things.

"Well, then if he doesn't want to do it, all he has to do is tell me," Han grumbled, enunciating each word and then sharply inhaling. He was getting angry. "He doesn't need to keep giving me excuses."

This time, Leia audibly sighed. "Maybe we both should talk to him one day," she offered a compromise to their conversation. She had to diffuse it. She didn't want to ruin an otherwise ideal day.

Maybe she diffused it a little too well. Silence reigned for what had to be at least a minute. "If that'll even make a difference," Han quietly proposed, his form now leaning forward against the table.

"Forget I mentioned it," Leia placidly stated, setting her fork back to its place at last. The food was coming. "We have other things to celebrate now," she said, calling to mind the buried fact that her daughter was going to have a baby.

"Yeah, sure," Han muttered noncommittally, glancing up at her from behind a tired brow. "Why not."

The man who operated reservations nearly toppled over as he dropped the communicator. His eyes sloshed to the right, his coworker, Tiffany, walked by and immediately pressed him for an answer. He took a small gulp, "The Solos, and the Pallanen-Davads. Tonight. One Hour." A nearby waiter dropped a bottle of wine, but within a minute, it had been swept away and the restaurant went back to its aura. The Solos had been legendary, eclipsing their fame was beyond rare, but their Imperial counterpart, at least as of late, had been the Pallanen family.

The skyline of Coruscant just after dusk had been always been an interesting spectacle. The lights of thousands of speeder traffic lanes, the city switching from day to night, without missing a beat. Their speeder ride had been rather enjoyable, the latest melody of the Kuati Grand Orchestra had been playing softly in the background, as Ryan went over several business pointers. Arlyn listened half-heartedly, allowing her husband to think aloud. She threw in a few, That sounds great, hunny. Or, Just a little more or less, she interchanged them often.

Anakin Solo had set them up inside the Senate's District, mentioning that it had been one of his mother's favorite restaurants since her early days as an Imperial Senator. Arlyn had vaguely remembered the days from her childhood, the dark void the Empire had cast over the known galaxy. It was a different vibe then, a feeling of terror and distrust. Even Kuat, had seen its fair share of atrocities, despite being the navy's jewel.

"Madam Pallanén-Davad," the speeder pilot had rolled the tinted window down slightly, "We will be arriving in three minutes." She had asked him to give her a warning, allowing her to take a mirror from and administer one last lookover.

"You look fine," Ryan buffed, but he hadn't even looked at her before he said it. It was just as much of a political get-together, as it was business. And on a softer level, their families had something much more in common. Anakin and Lucas had been tied together for nearly four years. And since, Anakin had become a welcomed man in their home, an honorary family member to the Kuati family.

Leia and Arlyn rarely communicated, but they had spoken to each other. She had left an impression of a powerful woman, one of many talents. Though many would name her greatest achievement had been destroying Palpatine's Empire, and bringing about peace to the galaxy, Organa Solo had never been more proud of her children. On the last dinner occassion, a Union tea party of sorts, Leia had been boasting about her daughter. It was a lasting impression that she was a fond and caring individual, living up to all expectations.

Han Solo had been a respected man, but at times, a loose cannon. He was difficult to predict, but Ryan had mentioned how much he liked that about Solo Enterprises. The name alone would sell the business across the Union and Republic worlds. Arlyn appreciated this, and understood it would be a prosperous venture for both parties, should terms be agreed upon.

Alderaan had been like a sister planet to Kuat, and Arlyn had hoped the bonds between the two people, especially with Arlyn supporting over 805,000 descendants of the Death Star tragedy, would spark a new friendship. As the speeder finally arrived at the destination, a bellman had taken the door and extended a gloved hand to assist her out of the vehicle. Ryan took her arm, caressing it next to his torso, as he led them inside...

To visit the Indigo Tower restaurant once in a lifetime was an extraordinary occasion for most. To visit it twice in one week was beyond belief. As much as Leia enjoyed the opportunity, she could not help but experience the gnawing feeling in her soul; the thought of the mysteries ongoing in the galaxy almost brought guilt to her. She was dining here while small cracks were beginning to show in the Union. It was strange to know that, this time, she wouldn't be the one to patch them.

Her time as the galactic adhesive, regrettably, had passed, and now she had other responsibilities. Other, younger souls were driving the galaxy now. Leia's charge was now solely to manage her family. She didn't find it easy to adapt. And sometimes, she still wished she could help the galaxy in a greater way, as she did years before.

Leia sought to sense the restaurant's axial rotation under her feet, but the effort was fruitless. One would not know of the motion unless he looked out of the windows. The stunning view showed the same old Coruscant, but somehow the perspective offered gave the familiar locale an astonishing new vigor. It brought back memories of her first childhood visits to Imperial City. She smiled faintly, trying to recall the feelings of every newcomer to the center of the galaxy.

Han placed his hand on Leia's shoulder, ushering her out of her reverie and into the dining room. Her eyes tore aware from the scenic vista and bounced around the furnishings of the interior. It didn't compare to the monument of civilization beyond her, but it came close enough. The fine tables, with cloths surely made from materials harvested from the rarest silk and plant fibers, seemed to luminesce. They were shapely pearls in a sea of emptiness; the tables drew the eye, and their functional lavishness was almost all that the restaurant needed. Any more adornment would have been tacky.

The people seated around each setting added - or subtracted, depending - to the adornment. Leia felt that she and her husband at least did not detract from their surroundings. Han was clothed with a conservative dark copper-rose suit, a pleasant mahogany coat surrounding it. Leia wore a deep purple pantsuit, made to appear as lovely as the fanciest dress with many white frills and false skirts issuing from the shoulders and hips, one draping from the collar to the back of her knees.

The finest in Coruscant were in attendance, but even they stared as the couple entered. The Solos were one of the most respected and beloved families in the entire Union. Leia and Han both, at times, did not appreciate the attention, nor think it entirely deserved, but they understood the admiration with a humble acceptance.

Seated ahead were the increasingly-influential Pallanén-Davads. The husband and wife couple headed the Slyfer droid corporation and the Kuat Drive Yards, respectively. Alatáriël was arguably more well-known than her spouse Ryan, owning several media enterprises and being Kuat's favorite daughter. They and the Solos had met on prior occasions, but never in such a way.

They were certainly friendly and magnanimous people, but tonight's encounter was not driven by whim. Anakin had contacted Leia, saying he had arranged a meeting with Alatáriël and Ryan, and that Han and Leia were to meet with them this evening. Leia didn't know if this was prompted by some specific business concern. He had only said Ryan Davad had been interested in discussing Solo Enterprises in relation to his own industry. Leia suspected Anakin's motivation was to prove to his father that he was able to handle concerns of the business by arranging such an important union. After the disaster the other night, no one had been sure of that. Han hadn't reacted strongly one way or the other when Leia had told him of the invitation.

Leia sensed that Han was entering the meeting not entirely of high spirits. She didn't know his thoughts, but suspected the Pallanén-Davads' status as wealthy socialites, and the fact that Kuat was an Imperial planet, might cloud his judgment. Leia could only guess at what this meeting would be about, but she hoped Han's past prejudices wouldn't color the decisions made tonight.

Leia smiled genuinely as she approached the table, right next to a portion of the curved viewport that spanned the circumference of the room. She briefly touched Ryan's arm, smiling. "Hello!" The former Chief of State then leaned down to Alatáriël, placing her hands on the woman's shoulders and offering a brief hug. "It's been too long, dear!" The words had been spoken by many politicians, but from Leia's mouth, they were not pleasantries. Instead, they were realities. Leia enjoyed these engagements and, most of the time, the people involved in them.

She glanced over at Han out of the corner of her eye, hoping he would play nice. Han most decidedly did not enjoy being sociable.

Even with Leia handling all of the introductions, Han still felt out of place with all the pleasantries. This was far from his comfort zone and it showed with the way he continually pulled at the high collar of his suit. It was true that he had grown in many ways over the years and had managed to impress a lot of people with all he had accomplished, but even his current role as CEO of a major competitive company within the Union could not prepare him for certain necessities. Formal dinner functions were included on that list.

But despite his nerves and the sudden urge to fall back on old ways, Han pressed forward, putting on a fake smile and extending his hand across the table to Ryan Davad as his wife embraced Alatáriël a short distance away. This was how proper people conducted business and he wasn't about to forget that. Although he wasn't particularly thrilled with the way this meeting had been arranged or the direction it might take, he had to remain focused and professional. Han Solo, CEO of Solo Enterprises, was a completely different person from Han Solo, smuggler and pirate.

"Davad," he acknowledged the other man with a nod, his voice a low rumble. He then turned, catching sight of Alatáriël's gaze as Leia moved away. Again, the fake smile and the nod to cover all of the bases. He didn't want to insult her and at the same time, he didn't want to completely ignore her either. It was a simple little greeting and it suited him nicely.

With the awkward part out of the way, Han stepped toward the table and selected one of the empty seats opposite Davad and his wife. With a playful smirk, he pulled the chair out for Leia before settling down in his own chair beside her.

That hadn't been nearly as bad as he thought it would be. Now it was time see how the rest of the night would transpire...

Coruscant's skies were beautiful at night, in a much different way than their homeworld. On a world that never slept, Ryan felt much smaller here. Since his work with Cybot Galactica, Ryan had ventured into a new company, a fresh start with all the resources and knowledge he had accumulated. His wealth was more than enough to fund this venture, and he was proud to call something his own. Heading Cybot Galactica already had a strong consumer base, with a well-known name. It was, in a sense, easy to run.

But to take pride in one's work, one needed to earn and build towards that. Kuat had taught him of the duties and the responsibilities of a worker. It was in his nature to continue this, despite having all the wealth in the galaxy needed to live a luxurious life. Innovation and creativity could be accessed with ease now, his own endeavors had become a full reality.

As Han and Leia sat across from them, Ryan smiled calmly at the pair. They were a terrific couple, Leia just as beautiful as the magnitude of her intellect. Han looked a little rough around the edges, but he had grown into quiet the respectable figure blasted over the holocommunications industry. Even on Imperial worlds, he was legendary. Maybe not the hardened soldier a cantina full of soldiers would talk up, but he had certainly been there.

Both had seen a lifetime of glory and ambition. The once Chief of State, and the Soldier of Endor...

Ryan wrapped his arm around the backside of Arlyn's chair, and looked around the Indigo Tower, moreso to build up what he was about to say next. His eyes returned to the Solos, and in a casual manner offered a new point of reference to future conversation, "Anakin, uh, picked quiet the place, didn't he?"

Arlyn, clearly pleased, added, "It's lovely." As she spoke, Ryan had almost forgotten how beautiful she was outside the "Colors of Tragedy". For nearly a month, they were under the belief their son Lucas had crashed and died. And to Kuati tradition, she had worn deep purple attire until the news that he had survived. Today, a black dress, with green Kuati emeralds sparkled as she moved to place a napkin across her legs.

"Tonight shouldn't be entirely about business, should we order a couple of drinks to start?" Ryan asked, particularly looking in Hans direction.

A shadow crossed over Han's face at the mention of his younger son, causing him to shift uncomfortably in his seat as he placed both hands on top of the tabletop and locked his fingers together. He knew he shouldn't let the mere mention of his son influence his decisions tonight, but it had been a sore subject. Anakin had set this meeting up, after all, and they weren't exactly on the best of terms.

"He takes after his mother," he quipped lightly as he stared down at his hands, refusing to look up at either Ryan or Alatáriël. "Never settling for anything but the best." He licked his lips and glanced out of the corner of his eye toward Leia. "Not that I blame him..."

It was a cheap cover up and he hoped they would buy it. That hadn't exactly been the best way to start off a business meeting, but what other choice did he have? Luckily for him, Ryan had managed to ease the tension by changing the subject.

Besides, maybe some alcohol tonight would do him good.

"Uh, yeah, sure," Han drawled out in response to the other man, waving toward the female server standing nearby. It was the same server who always waited on them on nearly every visit to the Indigo Tower. She probably already knew what he was going to order, which was a plain sign that they came here way too often, but he repeated it to her anyway just for good measure.

"Corellian spiced ale for me," he said evenly, giving the server a wink. It was none of that fancy cocktail stuff for him. He learned to stick to the hard liquor; it was always the best.

Leia smirked as Han at least made an attempt to behave himself. "A glass of Chandrilan reserve, please." In truth, Leia would have preferred simply water right now, but she realized the expectation of ordering an alcoholic beverage must be observed.

The woman sat back in her chair, straightening out her pants, as she pleasantly watched the other two ordering their drinks. She was eager to begin the conversation of whatever novel topic they were to discuss tonight. She would wait, though - they were the initiators of the deal and it was their place to begin the talking. Leia was happy with exchanging pleasantries and salutations for now.

"How are your children doing, Alatáriël? I was so relieved when Lucas was found," Leia began, interested. "That must have been horrible for you."

That's awesome, no problems! Thanks for checking!

Ryan had put in an double order of a Kuati Sunrise, an elixer that was relatively popular on their homeworld. "How are your children doing, Alatáriël? I was so relieved when Lucas was found," Leia started, "That must have been horrible for you."

"It was the worst thing imaginable, to believe you have lost a child." she answered honestly. Despite all her years, some much more challenging than others, the prospect of losing her son had been absolutely heart wrenching. It was the deepest and darkest agony she had ever felt. Like the Solo family, the Pallanén-Davads had all three of their children enrolled into the Jedi Order. Currently, they were padawans, only at the beginning of their journey, whereas Leia and Han must've seen and experienced equally horrifying moments of their own. "I guess you are one of the few that can actually understand that on a daily basis."

Their drinks had promptly arrived, the array of alcohol quickly dispersed to its proper owner, before the waiter disappeared. "My other two, Bella and Damian are on long-term assignments. Damian on Naboo, and Bella negotiating a treaty between a pair of warmongering groups in the Outer Rim." Arlyn had hoped that didn't come out as petty, as though she were a rich snob. On the contrary, she had hoped a lot of work and law could be applied to those who deserved the benefits and protection. The Galactic Union, no doubt, had endeavors and hopes of extending their own influence, should member worlds choose. But if Leia had any knowledge of their family, it was well known they were humanitarians (just not limited to humans, unlike many of their Imperial counterparts).

"What about you?" Arlyn looked at both Han and Leia, "We see a lot of Anakin, a fine man. A gentleman, and always a helping hand around the house. He actually reminds me a lot of you, Han. Some of your inflections are almost exact. Though polite, Anakin had never really enjoyed the political dinner parties on Kuat..." She was coy, hoping to ease the man out of his shell. After all, if they were to become business partners, the facade of "proper conversation" and "business suits and ties" could be dropped, and a much more casual tone could be asserted. It was Arlyn's way, though discreet, to let him know they weren't bad people. They didn't come to judge the man. If anything, because of the work and dedication Anakin has put into the training, Arlyn owed much to him, and his family. "How are Jaina and Jacen? Hope all is well..."

Leia didn't touch her drink until after Alatáriël had spoken of Lucas. She was trying to push away the pit in her stomach. She knew all too well how it felt to believe a child lost. The Solo children - especially before Unification - always found themselves in the center of some kind of trouble. One of Leia's few regrets was the youthful years of her children; they were precious and special, but Leia sometimes wished she had been able to offer her family a normal life.

However, Han's and her positions in the Republic, as well as the childrens' status as Force-sensitives, negated any chance of that. She imagined the Pallenén-Davads had experienced similar feelings, being in a like predicament. Leia occasionally had to wrestle with sporadic bouts of ennui about not being able to change the past, but it always ended the same way; she loved her children and what they had become. They were everything she could have hoped for, and when it came to the root of the matter, she would not change any part of their personalities.

Although sometimes they were difficult to deal with... Anakin in particular. Sometimes. She smiled at the thought.

Leia finally sipped her champagne as the woman across from her ended her recount about Lucas. Leia was truly happy for her, that she had experienced the joy of finding something thought lost. She hoped neither of the families would ever have to deal with a true loss so great.

"We see a lot of Anakin, a fine man. A gentleman, and always a helping hand around the house. He actually reminds me a lot of you, Han. Some of your inflections are almost exact. Though polite, Anakin had never really enjoyed the political dinner parties on Kuat... " Alatáriël continued, treading dangerous waters with Han. Leia glanced over at him briefly, trying to ascertain the thoughts behind his deceptive face. She had to smirk faintly - she knew hearing Anakin discussed in such laudatory terms must have been gnawing at him. But it was true; Anakin was a gentleman, but also took after Han in many ways. Perhaps that was why they butted heads so often.

"How are Jaina and Jacen? Hope all is well... " The Kuati moved on, perhaps sensing that Han was not eager to talk about Anakin. Leia hoped that the other couple would not be offended by Han's reticence, although they seemed to understand his general manner.

Leia responded first, trying to keep the conversation moving. "Oh, they're doing alright, you know. Jacen is busy as always; we don't hear too much from him. Jaina either, for that matter," Leia sighed. She was never one to boast or brag about her children, but she couldn't hide the smile - and the hint of pride - on her face as she continued. "She just contacted us on Unification Day, and... well, maybe Grandpa Solo should explain."

The grandmother-to-be looked over at Han with a sense of completeness that only a parent could show to another parent. She knew that Han wouldn't be able to resist it, no matter what the circumstances.

Once the server returned with the drinks, Han found himself enthralled with the golden brew swirling about in the glass before him. At the moment, the froth and bubbles contained in the drink offered more in the way of conversation than what was currently going on around him.

The words coming out of Alatáriël's mouth were all about pomp and he had no desire to sit here and idly listen to such garbage. It took all of his strength to not cringe at certain passages and he had to purposely lift the glass to his lips and partake in the smooth ale more than once to hide his distaste.

And it certainly didn't help his mood any when the conversation switched to Anakin.

He felt his muscles tense at Alatáriël's affinity for his youngest son. It was one thing to like the kid, but what she was talking about was akin to hero-worship. He knew Leia would claim he was ridiculous for thinking about such things, but he couldn't help it. The argument the night before had had a profound impact on him and because of Anakin's lack of responsibility, the company could potentially be in danger.

Inhaling deeply through his nose, Han angled his head down toward the table and turned the glass about idly within his grip, causing the liquid to slosh about within. He also kept his gaze lowered, refusing to look at anyone around the table, even Leia.

"Oh, they're doing alright, you know," Leia was saying, making a point to bring the twins into the conversation as well. "Jacen is busy as always; we don't hear too much from him. Jaina either, for that matter."

She paused and Han glanced up briefly out of the corner of his eye. There was a strange smile forming on her lips; an expression Han came to know all too well over the past couple of weeks. With furrowed brow, he stopped toying with the glass and he braced himself. Here it comes...

"She just contacted us on Unification Day, and... well, maybe Grandpa Solo should explain."

Damn her.

At first, Han wanted to scold her for flaunting the news so openly and in essentially one word, calling him old, but when he caught her gaze in his own, he realized something else was there. Was it pride? Joy? It was hard to tell. All he knew was that he hadn't seen Leia this happy in a long time and that alone made him happy over the occasion as well.

And if he really wanted to stop and think about it, he had to admit that it was like starting over. They could now give a child, their grandchild, the normal life they had always wished for their own kids. Plus, it gave Han a second opportunity to spoil the kid rotten - his favorite part. That alone, was worth it.

With a resigned sigh, he reclined against the back of the chair to find a more comfortable position before returning his gaze to Ryan and Alatáriël. "What can I say?" he shrugged as if it wasn't that big of a deal. "She's got the Solo genes. It was bound to happen sooner or later." He brought the glass back to his lips and took another long drawl. "I just need to keep this one in check to make sure she doesn't go overboard when the time comes."

He thrust his thumb in Leia's direction and turned his head to flash her a complacent smile.

The evening had started, at least under his belief, rather well. Over the decades, Ryan had picked up a few gifts when doing business. While Han Solo was out saving the galaxy, Ryan had been assimilating smaller corporations into Cybot Galactica, organizing hundreds of world distribution clauses, and had been through business talks with all walks of life to know that Han wasn't enthusiastic. Ryan took a sip of the Kuati Sunrise, the cool liquid had brought a peppermint flavor to his tongue just before it was swallowed.

"Congratulations!" Arlyn beamed, clasping Leia's hand as she said it. Ryan dipped his head, a testosterone version of the same excitement. He needed to be careful, and trying to get Han to open up, even about the simple conversation of family, had proven difficult. Ryan pinned this on his mental billboard, as the waiter took their order for the six course meal. Arlyn had picked out a vegetarian array, and the fact that she was still trying to push the healthier eating habits brought a lean smile to his face.

After the Solos had picked their dishes, and the waiter out of ear shot, it was time to talk business. Ryan had his associates run the public information on Solo Enterprises, and while their numbers were steady, it looked as though Han had been organizing the company and taking the administrative duties almost singlehandedly. The demands of the shipping industry were well known, and the amount of time one would need to dedicate, to put as “lengthy” was an understatement. The question had always been why hasn’t he hired on a business partner…

The brief interaction about Anakin Solo, their youngest son, had provided silent and carefully concealed hints. Anakin went out of his way to set this meeting, and recently, Lucas had been running many of his padawan training missions alone, or with a separate Jedi Master. Was he attempting to live a double life? Attempting to both please a, for lack of a better word, stubborn father, while still trying to find his own legacy? Ryan left this to mental ponderings only, deciding he’d talk about it to Arlyn later, should it be important enough.

“Solo Enterprises has made quite the name for itself, I am impressed,” Ryan started, he had always started with flattery, but the truth was, Han needed a huge contract. And Ryan had exactly that. Together, Arlyn and he had controlled two corporations that had fingerprints all over the galaxy. Droids in nearly every home, in some form or another, and ships used by independent and Imperial Remnant forces. “I’m not sure how much Anakin has told you, in fact, I’m a little excited about this next product. Slyfer Industries is about to launch a new cybernetic line that will connect the processing power of a droid, the individualized characteristics and personality subroutines, to the social networking of holocommunications. Across the Union, all Republic, Imperial, and the independent worlds will share a unique connection to Slyfer Datastream, nicknamed SlyStream, which will unify and bridge the gap between cultures. Thanks to the SLFR node.”

Ryan breathed, “If this is as big as what our preliminary predictions and beta testing results reveal it to be…we’ll have consumer demands across the galaxy. Hundreds of billions are expected to be sold in the first two years alone, with a trillion benchmark set for the next eight years.” He paused, allowing Arlyn to bridge the understanding.

“It’s really exciting. One of the most creative and advanced handheld devices I have ever seen. The applications are vast, and can respond and be applied to all types of lifestyles. Families can stay in touch across tremendous distances, where the Holonet is utilized in an entirely different way. Languages and cultures can mix and share, it’s… genius, really.” She leaned over and kissed his cheek.

“What are your thoughts?” He wasn’t sure if he had spilled it out over the table, was it too much too fast?

I was thinking it would be the type of revolution the iphone had on the telecommunications industry, except the Star Wars version of that. :P

Solo tilted his chin, watching Ryan curiously as he rattled off the specifics concerning his new 'toy.' As was usual in any business meeting, the other man resorted to using big, technical terms to make things sound interesting and to really sell his product, but Han took the time to take apart the pieces. This translated to a very long pause after Ryan had finished.

The truth was, the idea of a centralized system to communicate to others across the galaxy may not be as revolutionary as Ryan believed. Sure, he understood that the man intended to build up his own platform in which to host such a device, but that would only go so far. Han was skeptical about the future success of the product if it were to be marketed.

"So, it's like a datapad," Han surmised as he finally answered, staring the other man in the face as he brought his hands upon the table once more. To the untrained eye, his posture could have been identified as intimidating. "What's gonna make this thing stand out? What makes it different? Why should I buy it?"

He narrowed his eyes, leaning in close to the table as he turned selfish. There was only one reason he was here, after all. And it dealt with the continuing success of Solo Enterprises. "And how is this gonna benefit my company? Where's the connection?"

Ryan grinned. He knew the questions to ask, and it was comfortable knowing that Han Solo wouldn't just take a leap of faith at a get rich quick scheme, "A datapadd? That is almost borderline offensive," Ryan joked, "It's a lot smarter, and the capabilities alone will blow the average user out of the water. The SLFR node I mentioned, increases operating efficiency by five-hundred percent. The speed alone would be worth the average user's update. The Slyfer Holocommunications Network will be available to the Core by the end of the month, the Inner Rim by next month, and the Mid Rim in three months time." The funding alone for these concealed data processing and retrieval facilities had cost a good portion of Ryan's profits over the last 30 years. "I am taking a financial risk, should the product be a dud, I'd lose nearly 80% of my income collected over the last thirty years."

He didn't quite need to say how much that was, but even Solo could understand the monetary figure, at least in a large ballpark range. "But should the device take the public by storm, which I am positive it will, the benefits and profit in the first six months, will make earnings by Cybot Galactica seem like a toddler's allowance."

He met Solo's gaze on this point," Solo Enterprises... wouldn't have to worry about a credit for the rest of its days. In the first five years, you can retire on your own moon, if you wanted."

Arlyn laughed, their dinner appetizers arriving. As the waiter passed the dishes, and refilled their glasses, Ryan talked about the next point. "But, it's going to require a lot of work. The first month, all shipping rights will belong to Solo Enterprises. 350 billion units are expected to launch across the Core. As the buzz spurs, assisted by Arlyn's contacts in the holo-entertainment industry, our reach will extend to the Inner Rim. If you want to continue the venture, you're welcome to sign on. After that, an additional 400 billion will be expected to be pre-paid. And our networks will go online to support them a week before they launch in this sector...

"We've signed over six hundred celebrities, well known over the vast majority of the galaxy, to begin introducing the device to the public. Word will eventually spread to the Outer Rim. While this region is vast, we expect to have the large majority of the known galaxy covered in the first five years. We can do this, because we are already in the business of closing deals with three major holocommunications industries... we just need to update and upgrade their technology to be suited for the SLFR nodes."

Arlyn jumped in, "The interesting part about the Slyfer nodes, are the advancements in droid programming. This programming is virtually slice-preventable. The unique system allows transmissions to go untraced, and untracked."

Ryan tweaked the information, "While that is the current statement, we anticipate some labrat will crack the code, but we do not believe this will happen within the next ten years. The SLFR node combines unique technology, which will make each unit extremely difficult to override personalized security features."

The technical speech wasn't worth it here and now, but Ryan had something better in mind. He retrieved the sleek device from his pocket, after preloading fabricated information about Solo Enterprises. He put it on the table. "Here is a prototype I drew up for today, specifically for your question."

As the device powered on, a holographic insignia of Solo Enterprises appeared, with a text greeting: Good evening, Mr. Solo. Welcome to SLYFER. Directly after, thirty six ships and their whereabouts, shipping information could be accessed by click on each one, with unique communication directly to the crew, should any of them carry similar devices. Solo could essentially reach out to the pilots and shipping managers across the galaxy, and adjust an order within seconds.

The information had been created, to suit the needs of a prototype, but all the functions could be applied, if Han loaded the details. "You can immediately accept payments, transfer documents to your legal team, adjust figures and insure that S.E. is running smoothly at any given point in time."

"Now, for the average teenager, these devices are havens to the social life. They will be on everyone's Life Day list. That I can promise. The teenage and young adult market is extraordinarily vast, and our estimates will cross into almost 2.1 trillion devices sold in the next two and half years."

"Bottom line, 90.8 million credits for the first month, should all the shipping be made on time." Han would lose half of it funding the operations and making the runs to all the different ports. He'd probably have to purchase an extra ship or two, plus the crew to operate it. "But that number will double as time goes by, by the end of the year, Solo Enterprises will be pulling in over 10.8 billion credits, in sheer profit."

The number was particularly small, considering the amount of resources that Slyfer will have had accumulated by then, but Ryan allowed for some haggling room.

While 10.8 billion sounds like a lot, I figure plenty of it will be going to increasing and maintaining shipping fleet/crew, renting hangar space, etc. Han's profit ratio might be smaller than projected. And on another note, I haven't taken economics. So these are just random numbers to create a fictional environment. If they are too crazy and wacky, let me know. lol. Or anything else for that matter. It's basically a sleek datapadd, with small rudimentary holoprojectors (better ones will come out as the product advances).... with fancy-do-da capabilities. It's a datapadd with a lil tiny droid-like brain inside of it, making it fast and have a personality...like R2 or 3PO, just not as much. Think 1/5 3PO.

Hopefully this makes sense. I think it would be a cool device that is extremely unique to Unity, and even SWVII and SWVIII. In the future, we could evolve it to where you can plug it into your droid, and your phone's personality can become a walking talking thing. IDK. haha. just thinking FAR in advance!

Han took the time to merely glance at the display screen of the device as Ryan droned on with the necessary information about the product. Despite the program displaying all the correct logs for SE's current shipping schedule, Han found himself only half interested. After all, he already possessed a similar system that provided him with the same exact information and capabilities - why would he want another? It might have sounded good on paper, but the fact remained the same - it was still essentially a datapad and he failed to see how it would take off and eventually generate the kind of profit Ryan was talking about.

Even before the other man was through with his presentation, Han switched off the device and set it back down on the table. By this time, their appetizers had arrived and he popped one of the crispy pieces into his mouth and chewed slowly to allow Ryan time to finish.

That was one thing about Ryan Davad - although his words were full of fluff and technical terms the average person wouldn't care to comprehend, he had spirit. There was a real fire in him and that was something Han truly admired about him. He cared about the business and the people involved with making it successful. There weren't many people in the galaxy with that mindset anymore and Anakin surely wasn't one of them. In fact, this whole thing might even work out to his advantage.

A crazy idea was starting to form in his mind; one that he knew would cause Leia to truly question his sanity. But with everything that had happened in the past couple of days, this seemed to be the only real option. It answered all of their questions about who would take over and how the company would continue to succeed. It was staring them right here in the face the whole time.

Maybe he would be able to retire early after all...

Ryan had finally finished and Han drew in a deep breath, stretching out his arms as he milled over his decision. His eyes flicked over toward Leia subconsciously. She was still oblivious to what he was about to do, but maybe it would be better that it stay that way. He was already convinced that this was the right choice.

"Nice little product," he started out slowly, drawing out his words on purpose as he fingered the device sitting before him on the table. "But I don't think I'm ready to commit right now. You see, I'm anticipating some changes..." He paused here to take a sip of his drink. "Instead of going through me to get the shipping rights, how about you just take the whole company?"

He licked his lips and made eye contact with Ryan, his expression serious. "How would you like to be the new CEO of Solo Enterprises?"

Leia experienced difficulty swallowing her food, since her entire throat had gone dry. She had thought she misheard her husband the first time he suggested giving the company away, but he had only confirmed it by repeating it a second time. Perhaps he was simply bluffing, maybe to get better leverage on a business deal.

He wasn't.

She placed her fork quietly onto the table. Leia did not expect this action from Han Solo, CEO; or Han Solo, smuggler; or Han Solo, Republic general. It could only have came this from Han Solo, reckless fool.

Or possibly Han Solo, father. Leia wanted to believe that her husband wouldn't rid himself of the entire company because he did not think Anakin worthy to run it. In the seconds of silence that followed Han's proposal, she tried to figure out his motive, to analyze his rationale. He had nurtured the company - he'd conceived of it, built it, and ran it, almost entirely through just the two of them. Solo Enterprises was the fourth Solo child.

And yet now, he was seriously suggesting turning it over to people he barely knew. They were good people - and surely could be trusted with it - but Han had done it almost as if he didn't want to summon the effort to take on a new client, or to deal with a lengthy transitory process.

Although ambitions of retirement were already forming in Leia's mind, she pushed them aside. The shock was still too great.

"Han," she said, simply. She had intended it to be questioning, berating, comforting, or second-guessing. But somehow, it came out as none of those things. She just whispered the word, its tone isolated from any other emotion. But it was closest to astonishment.

A twinkle lit in Arlyn's eye, the food moving comfortably down her throat as Han Solo offered Ryan his latest legacy. The shock from Leia, however, suggested it may not be as logical as Han's serious tone had made it seem a moment before. Arlyn took a moment to process the pair across from them. Inside Imperial space, the Pallanens were well known business figures, and two of the most sympathetic, despite the general nature of their fellow kin. The Moff Council alone would cut the throats of their children to be seated at the head of Kuat Drive Yards, save perhaps, Jendob. Solo Enterprises would be safe in their hands, but was Han ready to let go, especially at the late turn of events?

The recent news of the passing of their government's leadership had been sour, but such was the ill fortune of these unhappy accidents. Then, on the other spectrum, the Alliance had lost its beloved First Fleet to a supposed ragtag fleet of pirates. Arlyn had been in the business long enough to understand that these kinds of events were not separate, but to what end, she had no idea. But atlas, she dabbled in thoughts that were not relevant to the table.

While the holocommunication network was on the verge of completion, the successful assimilation of local and outer rim networks occurring within the next three to six months, Han Solo's proposition would liquidate a hefty expense. His fleet was smaller than some of the larger shipping companies, but the name and the brand he had spent years crafting, would be worth the investment.

Arlyn smiled kindly, her eyes appealing to Leia's worry. "Maybe, we can let this brew and stir for a while? This is a big decision, maybe one that shouldn't be made over dinner?" Arlyn touched the former Chief of State's hand, an offering that they wouldn't accept nor press for the rights to Solo Enterprises. The last thing the Pallanens would have wanted, would be bad-blood between the pair. But she couldn't lie, this was a huge, tempting, opportunity.

With the Imperial Remnant bringing in skyhigh profits, Solo Enterprises provided an unparalleled beginning inside the New Republic. Ryan spoke, still in awe of the quick-respect he must've received from Han. "I'm honored, beyond words, really. I spent almost two and half decades behind Cybot Galactica before I sold her... took me a year to come to that decision. Maybe you ought to think about this... But if your serious, maybe want to retire and spend time with the... grandchild," Ryan tread carefully on this subject, not wanting to offend, "...your beautiful wife, then I will have my legal team draw up some documents?"

Arlyn set her fork down, of all things, this was the last thing she had thought would happen....

Leia's quiet protest hadn't gone unnoticed and Han responded to it by lifting an index finger into the air to silence her. The Indigo Tower wasn't exactly the ideal place to argue about his decision, especially with so many high profile people around. All it took was one wrong move and their faces would be plastered all over the Holonet later that night, accompanied by outrageous accusations and rumors. That wasn't exactly how Han wanted to end his evening. In fact, to avoid it completely, he refrained from even looking at his wife. Instead, he kept his gaze leveled on the Pallanén-Davads as they reacted to the news.

"Maybe, we can let this brew and stir for a while?" Arlyn suggested, patting Leia's hand to reassure her that she wouldn't do anything rash. Still, Han could detect the hunger in her eyes. She had been thrilled with the proposition and she was eager for it to come to fruition. "This is a big decision, maybe one that shouldn't be made over dinner?"

Han merely smirked. Of course it was a big decision; one that appeared to be the most beneficial to them in their current situation. Sure, it would be hard letting it go completely, but it would be better than watching it go under at the hands of his incompetent son. If only Anakin knew what he had been setting up when he arranged this meeting this evening...

"I'm honored, beyond words, really," Ryan chimed in after a moment, clearly taken aback as well. "Maybe you ought to think about this... But if your serious, maybe want to retire and spend time with the... grandchild..." The other man paused here and Han studied him closely, brow furrowed curiously. "...your beautiful wife, then I will have my legal team draw up some documents?"

The smirk on his face stretched into a full-blown grin as he spread his hands casually in front of him. "I have thought about this and I am serious," Han stated in a gruff voice. He allowed the silence to hang between them for a moment, his eyes locking with Ryan's to get his point across.

"I've done a lot of crazy things over the years and maybe you think this is one of them, but trust me...this is for the better. It's time to get out while I'm still on top." Something crossed his expression and his mood brightened a bit. "Besides, I can't continue to let the Falcon just sit around and collect dust, can I?"

Becoming serious once more, he made a circular motion with one of his hands as he tried to recall part of Ryan's words. "You, uh...mentioned documents, right? Yeah. Maybe now would be a good time to started on that."

"You, uh...mentioned documents, right? Yeah. Maybe now would be a good time to started on that." Ryan eyeballed his wife. This was actually something they were accustomed to. Ryan took the Slyfer device, inputting several commands, and withing thirty seconds, his legal team was standing by. It was the one nice nice thing about the galactic time difference, it put the dinner date with the Solos smack down in the middle of the workday on Kuat. The waiter swept in, picking up the plates and their cups. A moment later, the table had been refreshed with another course. The infamous six-course Coruscanti meal, yet basic, when compared to Kuati-style dinner parties.

"Yes, it can be arranged rather quickly, in fact. Even if you wanted a legal team to look it over, it could be handled by the morning, at the latest." Ryan's thoughts drifted, if Han was completely serious, perhaps by the end of the week, he'd become the official CEO of Solo Enterprises. His heart pounded, and in fact, he hadn't felt this excited since the foundation of Slyfer, and before that, Cybot Galactica. He allowed a large smile to extend to the Solos, "You are a good man, Solo, so I'll leave the cut-throat tactics out of it. I think we both know the general price range of Solo Enterprises..."

Ryan typed a large figure into his SLYFER datapadd and slid it across the table. There would certainly be room for adjustment, but all in all, it was above market value. With the interactions between Anakin Solo and the Pallanén-Davads, Ryan would insure that the man's father get a deal. The deal alone was a window of opportunity inside the New Republic's market. It would A-list him inside of Han Solo's business contacts.

Even if Han asked for an extra 4%, it would be worth it.

Leia watched much of the activity happening before her as a third-person observer - it felt that way, anyway. Alatáriël's attempt to reassure her did indeed make her feel a bit better, but Leia still felt shocked.

She quietly picked at her dinner, not having much to say for much of the conversation. Maybe she was rusty; she just couldn't summon up a politic response throughout much of the talk of finances and trades. She wasn't so much concerned for herself, but for Han; she didn't know that his actions weren't influenced by the past days' drama. Maybe in a couple weeks he would realize he hadn't meant any of it, withdraw the offer, and sour the relations between the two families after all. She hoped that wouldn't happen.

And she didn't think it would.

She leaned over to glance at the figure displayed on the screen, then looked at Han expectantly.

The rate at which Ryan produced the figures for the company was unsettling; almost as if the other man had been planning this takeover all along and he had been waiting for just the right moment to cash in. Then again, it could probably just be paranoia on his part. Solo Enterprises had been his sole creation - he had founded it, nurtured it and saw it through to the successful corporation it was today. It would be hard letting it go and despite the sincerity of his words, he did indeed have some doubts.

Keeping his expression impassive, Han took the pad and studied the numbers in silence. They were good; very good, he had to admit. It would be easy to end everything right then and there and accept the offer, but something stirred within him to press for more. He was practically a celebrity, after all, and his name alone would bring in the credits. It was worth a try anyway...

Han sighed and set the pad back down on the table, casting a sidelong glance at Leia. "It's tempting," he muttered quietly as he sipped more at his drink. "But I think we can raise the stakes a bit. I put a lot into the company, after all. I want to make sure she gets all she deserves. You understand, right?"

He slid the pad back across the table. "I'll have my men look at it and write something up. That good enough for you?"

Ryan nodded, but with Solo Enterprises up in the air, the rest of the business discussion was mutually voided. Arlyn bit the last of her fifth entree, she had been engrossed by the latest turn of events, she had slowed her eating dramatically. Her eyes shifted inconsistently from Han and Leia, sensing a bit of untouched tension. "I know this is a lot to think about, and whatever the outcome, we both," Arlyn put her hand on Ryan's lap, to signify they were behind this statement together, "want you to know that we support your decision one-hundred percent."

Ryan added after taking a sip of the Kuati sunrise, "It's been an honor, and I hope we can do this again in the future. Maybe without an agenda..." His voice trailed off, the waiter producing fantastic desserts. Arlyn loved the atmosphere of Coruscant, but nothing was better than home. The drastic change of events across the galaxy left her feeling vulnerable, especially without Imperial guards or Kuati security. Arlyn smiled as the cake touched the inside of her mouth, the flavor reminding her of something her grandmother used to bake...

The evening had wound down, after it had taken a flavor that Leia never expected to be on the menu. She recalled the remaining of the dinner as she and her husband rode the hovertaxi back to their home. Following the minutes after Han's game-changing announcement, a normal dinner - albeit one that was tapered by the barely-contained excitement of the Pallanén-Davads and Leia's uncertainty - with excellent food and scintillating conversation. They had all been able to relax, to a point - but only to a point. Everyone knew that soon after today, they would begin the negotiation and bargaining dynamics fundamental to every business deal.

She let her lazy stare linger unfocused through the windows, every point of luminance finding a target in her eyes, the conception emanating everywhere from Coruscant's dark corners to its monolithic skyscrapers. Han sat next to her. There was so much to talk about, but Leia hadn't been eager to speak about it, aside from the routine acknowledgments required by her. She needed an evening to think within the bastion of her own mind, before she could look at the situation objectively. It had been comparatively easier to handle Alliance personnel or send fleets to attack than it was to weigh the fate of Solo Enterprises, she was beginning to think.

She knew that wasn't so, though. She felt as if another short stretch of their life's race was ending. And while she had felt nothing but confidence as she had retreated from her long political career, she couldn't even begin to grasp what awaited them. It wasn't the exciting anticipation of the unknown, either. The galaxy had a pulse, and it was beginning to beat irregularly, affecting every creature between all of its spiraling appendages.

Pallanén-Davad would handle the company well. That wasn't the issue. It wasn't even about the company not ending up in Anakin's hands. It was something else, something Leia simply could not place. Maybe it wasn't even the company; perhaps it was an unwillingness to face impending change.

Coruscant felt empty with Jonas absent, but the thought quickly left his mind as he went about his fitness routine. Anakin had arrived and together, they decided to push each others bodies to the limit. The morning had started with a jog throughout the Temple, finishing with a free-fall with glider-wings into Coruscanti skies. It had required full attention to his senses, his arms were arguably in the best and worst shape of his life at the same time. He had no idea how they would feel the following day, after constantly adjusting the arm-gliders per traffic lane.

Lucas had cleaned and groomed for nearly an hour, his mother was still on planet, and she had asked him and Bella to lunch while their father finished business talks with Solo Enterprises. Though he didn't really want to face her, especially after the minor brawl with Damian, he dressed his best. She preferred they displayed top manners outside Kuat, something along the lines of family-bloodline image.

The Indigo Restaurant had been her recent favorite, after a night out with the Solos. Several workers must have identified him, the Kuati attire usually a dead giveaway. They showed him to his mother, who stood only to kiss each cheek, before they sat. An empty chair for Bella. "Any word from your sister?"

He shook his head, grabbing the menu and setting in front of him. He took a sip of the glass in front of him. A red wine from a vineyard on Endor. "No." It was a simple answer, but it was all he could come up with. He felt guilty and at the same time, wanted to spill the beans on his brother and his condition with the Queen of Naboo.

"I heard you went to see Damian," She was good, and he swore she was a mind reader. Lucas took a sip, before chugging the remains of the wine in the glass. "That bad, huh?" She offered him a laugh, Lucas knew she was just trying to be nice, to coax the information from him. Bella must've been equally silent. "Anything to report?"

Lucas wanted to yell it at the top of his lungs, in front of all the Republicans, but instead, bit his tongue. "He's changed. More mature, I suppose. Not really himself. Collected. Older." She beamed at the news, Lucas wanted to roll his eyes and gag, but watched as a short figure emerged in Kuati festive colors. "She's here." Their mother's attention shifted, greeting her only daughter and the two gossiped for several minutes before the waiter replenished the glasses.

"He'll have water, this time." The waiter's hand hovered above Lucas' glass, then turned away and back to the kitchen. A clean pitcher of water filled a new glass, before supplying a small trinket of bread slices. It looked like a variety of Republic wheats and whites, nothing Imperial or familiar to the Kuati banquets. "Now, have either of you talked to Kristopher?"

Together, Bella and Lucas shook their heads.

"He's graduated. Top of of his class." Lucas flashed her a smile, it wasn't that he was happy for his younger brother, but the fact she was happy. Their parents had always treated him a little differently than the rest of them. "I sent him home. I want him there when I return."

Bella snickered, "You locked him down?"

"Isabel!"

Lucas laughed, "I don't think he'll last very long under imprisonment." Their mother laughed, but added a stern look. She must've agreed, just as the first plates of appetizers arrived...
