Badim awoke outside to a frigid wasteland of Ice and snow. A whiteout was in progress, he couldn’t see a thing beyond five feet from him. He looked around; he saw a faint, red light flash in the distance, barely visible, a strobe light. He began to move but-
“Dahahah!!!” He yelled to the heavens in excruciating pain. He screamed even louder as he clenched it. He looked down at it. The white cloak of his was soaked red with blood. Even though he was a hardened assassin, had taken hits from a wookiee, a gamorrean pig, a cyborg and a terentatek and lived. But it all added up, he had a strange ability to heal quickly, nothing was serious before. Sprains of every kind and nature built up to this final moment. They all held up to one breaking point, the crash. There was one agenda in his mind now: Survive.
But one thing was keeping him from finding himself a cave and surviving. Clare and Diann. He made the determined effort to subdue his pain just long enough to get to that light - the escape pod’s strobe light no doubt - and make sure they’ll survive. He put one hand firmly on the ground. The snow crushed and compacted as his weight was placed on it. He heaved a heavy and pain-filled grunt. ‘Baby steps, Badim… Baby steps…’ He placed his other hand down and-
“Ah!” He screamed in pain and quickly retracted the hand and looked at it. It was crudely sliced into from a piece of metal on the ground. Blood began to trickle out of the crude wound. He looked around and saw the dead hulk of The Killer’s Fate, perched up on its side against a cliff. He looked at the ground around him, pieces of armor and components were lying around him everywhere. He watched where he placed his hands this time and lifted himself up.
“Nuh…” He painfully grunted. He turned his attention away from the pain and stared at the light, using it as a point to strengthen his will so he could subdue the pain in his chest.

One step at a time, he made it to the escape pod. It lay in a crater from the impact. No doubt both of them would be safer inside the escape pod if Badim didn’t open it. He would just pray that they weren’t dead, jettisoned in their coffin. He placed a reassuring pat on the door with his good hand and limped off to a set of mountains ahead of him. Light was shining on their peaks, making them eerily visible in the whiteout. He made it about fifteen feet… Then collapsed…

Badim walked in the snow, he kept walking, with no end in sight. The snow storm had passed, all seemed calm to him. The sun in the horizon began to rise in front of him. He thought of Brenna, Jaalib, Diann, Clare… And Sara. They all seemed to vanish from his mind; the light from the sun seemed to get brighter and brighter. He didn’t know what it meant to him.
He thought he heard something of it before. ‘Don’t go into the light’ so many desperate people have said. But for some reason, he suddenly didn’t remember that. He started not to remember a thing, except how to breathe, how to think and how to speak. The light continued to intensify, until it seemed to get to a maximum. He didn’t detour his gaze from it, not blinded by its intensity. He heard a voice call out, it wasn’t Sara as he’d heard in so many dreams; it was different, a desperately sounding voice, “Sir-s-s-Sir…! Cannn youuuu hear meee…?”
“Who’s there?” He called out, “Who is that?”
“Sir-s…!” She replied once more, “Can you hear meee…?”

He began to feel his body shake, his bones shivered. The blood from his cheeks instantly froze.
“What’s happening!?” Was the last thing he said before he collapsed on the ground. The light grew dark as it seemed to move away from him. That last thing he could remember, were two pairs of warm hands, caressing him.

Trying to wake him up…

Now that Zara is back (Senna Vucora), all I have to do is wait for the Jedi to come to Rhen-Var. I’ll revisit Badim and his comrades once they get there. But over all, It would require Koshina (Planned) and Nik Starskimmer (Debatable, He would be needed because he is a Jedi healer is Cheapy doesn’t mind accompanying Koshina to the crashsite) Cheapy, you can contact me via PM if there are any problems with this.

After a largely uneventful and mostly silent trip, the large, white sphere of Rhen Var was soon visible through the viewports. The shuttle approached the planet and eventually broke through the atmosphere and emerged over the endless, snowy plains. They made their way over a few mountains until finally coming up to a large group of ruins about half-way up one of the peaks. There were a few tents set up surrounded by bright lights, although they didn't seem to be helping very much.

When the door opened, the team was met with a biting wind. Senna had changed into a heavier cloak, with a thick, purple fur lining the edges. The snowflakes swirled around her as she stepped into the fresh, bitter air. For a moment, she scanned the horizon as the others made their way off the shuttle as another woman came from the blinding white to guide them further into the ruins.

"Most of the excavation site has been moved inside the temple!" the woman shouted back, trying to raise her voice over the winds. "They're waiting for you there!"

"What is this place?" Master Seyyr called out from the back of the group, keeping her own cloak tightly shut with a free hand.

"That's what we're trying to find out!" the woman replied before turning back to the path and continuing to lead them further up the mountain and into the ruined walls built into the stone all around them.

"Huh?" Koshina said, with a drozy tone in her voice as a padawan woke her up. She brought her hand up and lifted the lip of her hood above her eyes to greet the padawan. "What is it?" She asked the padawan. She straightened herself as Koshina began to stir. "We're about to land on Rhen Var, ma'am," She was wearing a heavy brown cloak, tugging on it's sleeve, the padawan continued, "Master Vucora suggested that we wear our winter gear and gather our baggage."

"Thank you, Padawan Stadd." Koshina replied, getting up, only to find that her legs were asleep. But she pushed past the numbness, as soon as they would land, Master Vucora would most certainly lower the entry ramp, letting in a lot of cold air. Depending on the weather of course.

Later...

Koshina and the other Jedi stood at the entry ramp, waiting for the shuttle to touchdown and lower the said ramp. When the door opened, the team was met with a biting wind. She placed her arm in front of her face as the wind rushed into the room. Slowly removing it as her eyelids adjusted to it. The other Jedi began to step off the shuttle, so it only made sense to follow them. Vucora stayed behind for a moment. It seemed as if she was actually seeing the environment. She saw another Jedi from the team stationed here looking at her curiously. Koshina couldn't help but return the same look towards him.

"Jedi Koshina!?" He called out, bringing Koshina to step closer to him, to get a more clearer look of course, and the face was an amazing sight for sore eyes. "Aron Sharpe!? I haven't seen you since you left the Academy Seven months ago! You missed the New Year last week!"
They both had giant grins on their faces, walking towards eachother as old friends, meeting eachother again after several months.
"We had our own, smaller celebration of our own. Suffice to say, I never thought I'd see you again - Not this soon actually."
Aron Sharpe... An amazing Jedi Counsular. To her a Master of the Force in all things.
"So, what's new at the Academy?" He asked,
"Nothing really, I just came here with Master Vucora-"
"Master Vucora is here?"
"Yes, weren't you notified?"
He shifted uneasily, he and the Master were never really on even terms with eachother,
"I was notified that a Master from Dantooine was coming here, but I wasn't told she was coming."
"It's okay, Aron," She turned to Master Vucora and Master Seyyr following another woman into the excavated temple, "What can go wrong?"

(Once Cheapy posts here with Nik, I'll start that crash of the Killer's Fate, where Nik, Koshina and Aron (Amara too if you want her to Cheapy) to go retrieve Badim, Clare and Diann from the crash and bring them back here.)

(Continued from Here.)

When his master had mentioned that he had borrowed a pair of X-Wings for their trip to Rhen Var, Dryas hasn’t considered that he had meant classic X-Wings, as opposed to the newer XJ models that were usually used by members of the Praxium. It made sense, he supposed. While borrowing one of the newer fighters likely wouldn’t have been very difficult, he reasoned that Homm would have seen it as overkill – that they were traveling to a friendly planet on a trip with no plans of potential combat, and so the use of a fighter that might truly be needed by someone else for such a situation would be wasted on them.

Still, Dryas had to admit that he likely would have felt better about things had his master chosen the new fighters instead. The X-Wing wasn’t exactly the style of craft he preferred – while his Jedi skills allowed him an exceptional advantage in the cockpit to begin with, there were times when it just wasn’t the same as raw talent, skill, and the instinct that made so many non-Jedi pilots exactly what they were, and the kind of person Dryas couldn’t help but hold some respect for and in some cases, even admire, when he took the time to consider it. Even if he didn’t expect anything to happen, the extra punishment the newer craft were capable of taking would have left him feeling more secure.

”Dryas, I need you to keep a bit more focused. I’m noticing you’re falling a little behind.”

The Bothan came out of his self-reflection to refocus on his piloting. A look at his instrument panel, and through the force, confirmed what his master had told him.

“Right. Sorry about that, master.”

Correcting his course and speed, he quickly fell back into formation. His borrowed astromic, R2-Z90, seemed to chuckle at the bit, if he interpreted the noises it was making correctly. It wasn’t exactly a flattering image of his piloting at work, especially so soon after leaving hyperspace.

“If I may ask, master, would you mind explaining why it is we dropped out of hyperspace early?”

It hadn’t been much early, but at his masters insistence, the two ships had entered realspace just a tad before they were supposed to, enough to lengthen the trip to the planet by several minutes.

”Extra flight time.” Norran replied. ”I reasoned that since we’re already in the cockpit, it would make sense to give you some extra fighter experience.”

Dryas questioned the answer to himself, but said nothing. True, any additional time he was behind the controls would do him well, but there wasn’t much flying here to be done, and it didn’t sit well with what he had suspected was a desire on his masters part to arrive as soon as possible.

Considering the possible true answered that he was able while still keeping his concentration on where he was going, he reasoned that the most likely answer was to give Norran extra time to both talk with Rhen Var flight control and search through the force to discover if Master Vucora was already on the planet.

“Z, you can provide star map data for distances, correct?” he asked, running on an assumption. The Droid beeped an affirmative answer.
“Tell me, comparatively, the locations of the systems containing Dantooine, Yavin, and Rhen Var.”

As he looked at the information he was given and considered it further, it seemed possible for the order of arrival to happen either way. He had no idea when Homm had obtained his information compared to when it had been received by Master Vucora, but with Dantooine over twice as far from Rhen Var as Yavin IV was, all other things being equal would mean that the Jedi Historian would have a longer travel time – leaving room for he and Norran to potentially arrive first.

”We have a clear landing space.” His master chimed in again as they made their initial approach on the planets atmosphere. ”Follow my lead.”

The biting cold engulfed Amara before she had even stepped down the ramp, despite the thick survival coat given to her by the shuttle's crew. After thanking them for the smooth flight, she followed Nik and the other Jedi down the ramp, crossing her arms to keep them warm. The wind was howling, leeching all heat from her face. Damn it, I bet space isn't even this cold, she thought as they trudged through the snow to the guide, who was standing a few meters away from the shuttle. Next to her, Nik sneezed and groaned softly to himself. "Next time, remind me I have Padawans to teach," he shouted to her, although because of their proximity and the fact that Master Vucora was speaking to the guide, nobody else heard him. Amara grinned and walked forward to listen to the conversation.

The Jedi spoke at length about the excavation site, and Master Vucora nodded, signaling the end of the introductions. The group began to make their way up the rock staircase that lead to the large stone structure that was evidently the Jedi camp. Amara took a few steps forward before she realized that Nik hadn't moved. She turned and squinted against the blizzard. Nik's back was facing her, and his head was bowed as he faced the endless snowy plains of Rhen Var. "Nik!" she shouted, wondering what he was doing. "Come on! We're heading inside!"

The freezing wind tore at Nik, pulling at his clothes and whipping his hair to the north. His feet were already starting to grow colder, and his facemask did nothing to retain his body heat. He noticed none of this.

He was standing in a golden field of grass, one of the rolling plains of Dantooine. His home for the past several years. The field he was in rolled in waves as a soft breeze tugged the grass and whispered in his ears. He closed his eyes and inhaled, overhwelmed with tranquility. When he opened his eyes again, he saw a figure from his childhood standing among the grass: a young Cathar Jedi named Syvra, the girl he had grown up with...the girl he had injured playing that trivial game of hide and seek so many years ago...the girl who had helped him discover his true purpose.

Someone was shaking him, calling his name. Even if he had wanted to respond, he couldn't have; he was too enraptured by the vision.

She smiled at him, flashing canines the same way she had whenever he had told her a joke or done something embarressing. It was then Nik realized he was dressed in simple apprentice robes, the exact set he had worn when he was ten. He smiled and took a step forward, opening his mouth to say hello, as if to acknowledge that he was aware of her would somehow atone for what he had done...and in that moment, that split second, her image wavered and blurred like a fuzzy hologram. he reached for her, calling her name, but she smiled and faded, leaving nothing behind.

Amara, it was Amara who was calling him. No, now she was yelling for someone else, someone he had come to Rhen Var with. Ah, Master Vucora, that was it. Without even looking he could sense the Master's curious irritation at being diverted from her interests; curiosity that turned to genuine concern as she turned and walked back down the staircase towards the two of them. Anxiously Nik urged the vision on...

"Help me..."

Nik whirled, somehow dressed in his healer's robes again. A trail had been parted in the grass, and from the direction of the path a man's voice rose over the wind. "Someone...please..."

Nik hurried onto the path, parting blades of grass that blew into his face until he came across a clearing. The vision was fading now, snow was beginning to fall in the golden meadow, creeping into the clearing. Before it vanished completely, Nik saw a man dressed in a white hooded robe lying on his stomach. A blood trail lead in the opposite direction, as if he'd been crawling. He lifted his head and his gaze fell on Nik. "Please...help me..."

"Jedi Starskimmer!"

With a sharp gasp, Nik snapped out of the vision.

He was on his knees some distance from the stone structure, panting heavily. Amara was kneeling next to him, her eyes full of concern. Master Vucora towered over them both, her brow raised but her invisible sight betraying no other emotion. Without preamble, she asked "What did you see?"

Nik looked at Amara and nodded, grasping her hand and squeezing it before standing. When he had caught his breath, he stretched out with the Force. Now that he was actively searching for it, there was a beacon of pain and hopelessness radiating from the north. Nik pointed in that direction and turned to Vucora. "There's someone out there, Master. Someone who needs help."

Koshina and Aron walked together chit-chatting as they went towards one of the research tents by the Temple entrance. Koshina was in awe at the sight of her long, near forgotten friend. She smiled at a joke he told and chuckled a little. She couldn't keep her eyes off his face. She looked at all the features that had changed over the months. It seemed his small whiskers were frozen together. His nose was a light pink. His cheeks were also the same shade of pink. His lips seemed to be turning an extremely light purple. Other than those links to the freezing degrees here on Rhen Var, he looked like he hadn't aged a day since he left the Academy months ago. She didn't want to send the wrong message by continuing her stare; she broke off the lines of sight and focused to something in front of her.

Nik, Amara and Vucora were standing next to each-other, Nik looked as if he'd seen a ghost, Amara looked to be in some form of shock. Vucora had an expression of curiosity in the way she stared at Nik.
"What's going on over there?" Aron asked,
"I don't know..."
"It might be connected to that large meteorite that crashed to the north."
"No... I sense something more..."
They walked up to the group and Nik discribed to them what he saw. Someone was out there, and he needed their help.

(Alright, either Cheapy or Zara can continue this, whoever posts first.)

Diann's eyes fluttered open, she saw the interior of the escape pod. The room was full with a dull, red light. Sparks flew from the consoles within the pod. Something didn't feel right, she looked across the pod to see Clare, strapped to her seat. She tried to reach forward to see if she was injured at all, but her arm flared in pain.
"AHH!!!" She screamed and looked over and saw her arm had the control stick shoved through it. She didn't know what happened to make it - Right, she thought, My strap failed when we hit the ground, and then I blacked out.
She cursed aloud, she wasn't going anywhere. She'd be better off to keep the control stick in her arm than remove it and bleed out. She heard a pat on the side of the pod. But she couldn't say a thing, as the pat was placed on the pod, she was feeling the back of her head. Her head was bleeding. That was the last thing she saw before she passed out.

Does anyone need me to continue? If it's a necessity, I could skip ahead a few posts, like to where Badim and the others have been rescued and are at the camp, being healed by the Jedi Healers and Nik? It would surely get everyone to a point where they could continue.

Any thoughts?

If it wasn't for Nik's sense on the source of the vision, there would have been no hope for the robed man, alone and injured in the frozen hell of Rhen Var. As it was, Nik could feel his life fading as he trudged his way up one last snow dune just in time to see a familiar figure collapse into the snow. Nik broke into a run, calling over his shoulder. "Over here! Master, I've found him!"

Amara and Master Vucora caught up to him as he fell to his knees beside the robed man, his hands already reaching for his medkit. "C'mon..." He noted the man's blue lips and frozen fingertips, and he frantically rummaged around for a thermoshot. His fingers closed around the syringe pistol, and he gently lifted the man's head onto his knees to apply the hypo to his neck. It hissed as he squeezed the trigger, and his patient spasmed once before letting out a choked sigh. Even with the shot circulating heat through his body, however, Nik could feel his life draining away through a ragged wound in his abdomen. "Stay with me," he murmured as he rolled the man over and gently probed the wound with his gloved fingers. Mystery Man groaned in his unconscious stupor as blood continued to seep from the gash like a sieve.

Amara kneeled next to him. "Is he going to be okay? Can you help him?" Nik shook his head. "I don't know. I wasn't expecting to operate on a comatose hypothermiac when I packed. I don't have the necessary-"

There is no death, there is the Force.

Nik blinked.

He reached a hand out, hesitated, and yanked off his glove. Gently, he laid his hand on the man's brow and closed his eyes, reaching out to him. He could feel his life force, once strong but drained of its energy by his injuries, and he could feel the man still fighting for every breath. The strength and determination of his charge interested him, but what surprised him the most was...a sense of utter isolation. For some reason, the robed man had emotionally severed all feelings of connection and bonding with the outside world, and one thin strand was just beginning to rebuild itself. Worry about that later, Nik admonished himself. Focus on the now.

Slowly, carefully, Nik began to heal Badim Soilding.

Badim slept in twilight, between life and death by a single strand. He could still feel the pain in his abdomen, but he couldn't express that pain anymore. He could hear another man trying to reassure him that he was trying his best. But he didn't want to live with all these burdens anymore; he was tired of his life. All he cared about right now was giving Clare and Diann a chance to live. He'd brought them near death on their short adventure, brought them to their deaths by coming here.

If he had to die for them to live, he'd do it. He was feeling weak in this state. He didn't have the will to go on anymore. But the man next to him wouldn't let go. He seemed to be delving into his mind and reading every thought of his life, every memory. He heard the man speak out in a faded voice,
"Th-There's someone else here... That w-ayyy!"
He heard someone acknowledge him and run off in whatever direction he was pointing, wherever that was. He felt warmer, like his body was warming up by itself. It could be that pinch he felt moments ago, but it could just be that light returning again. It was coming back and forth to him as he drifted towards death, and went away when he drifted towards life. He didn't care about that anymore. But he did feel warmer, he couldn't ignore that.

Badim...
He felt his consciousness turn left and right, trying to find the direction of the voice.
Badim... the voice, a woman's voice, said again, You have to find me... I need you...
"Where are you?!" He said desperately. He didn't know if it was a hallucination or if it was someone trying to talk to him, but he listened to what she said,
I'm closer than you think... It's up to you to find me... It was Sara, somewhere she needed him.
"But where?" He asked again,
You have skills, use them... Just remember, I'm closer than you think...

That was the deciding point, Sara needed him, he had to find her.
Suddenly, his will returned to him. He now had a fighting chance to live.
He had to find her, he just had to...

Wherever she was...

Please...let me go...

Nik almost jerked as the thought entered his mind. Wha-?

Leave me. Save them.

Even as Nik continued to mend the man's broken tissues and marrow, images began filtering in through his empathetic pain. He stiffened, remembering the vision of Amara, but instead of suffering and death, the images and feelings were of two women, one a red-haired woman with hard features and a young, dark haired woman with a light smile and bright eyes. The robed man-

Badim.

-Badim was standing at a distance from them, his hood down and his body hale, but he was still easily recognizable. To the red-haired woman he showed guarded curiosity, but towards the girl Nik could feel a strong sense of attachment and protectiveness. Just as Nik was about to try and ask Badim who the two women were, more images flashed into his mind; a small freighter, its engines holed by an asteroid strike, spinning down into the planet's atmosphere. Chaos and pain as the ship crashed and the inhabitants became gravely injured. Badim, arising from an unconscious stupor and trudging off into the snow, his only thought in finding help...

Save them. Leave me. Please.

Nik shook himself out of his trance and lifted one hand, pointing east. "There..."

Amara turned to look in the direction he was pointing. "What? What is it?"

"The crew..."

Unable to spare any more time explaining, Nik allowed Badim's chosen memories to flow into Amara. She gasped at the sudden vision and lifted a hand to her mouth, but Master Vucora simply grabbed her arm. "Where? Quickly, girl." Amara's wide-eyed gaze remained glazed over for a moment, and then she lifted a gloved hand and pointed deeper into the storm. "There-I think they're this way..." She started to walk in that direction, but Master Vucora held her grip and pulled her back. "No." With her other hand she summoned two of the archaeologists who had followed them and pointed them east. "See what you can find," she ordered. "Return to the camp by 1900 hours, with or without survivors. We must not delay any further." They nodded and proveeded into the howling wind without argument.

After what seemed like an eternity, Nik finally opened his eyes and glanced at his handiwork. The gash was still visible, but scar tissue was beginning to form along the edges, and it was noticeably smaller. He quickly removed a large bandage from his kit and used it to seal the wound, then gave Badim another hypo of thermoshot. "I think we can move him now," he yelled over the storm, which had grown to epic proportions in the time they had been waiting. He stood, stretching his joints and muscles. They protested at the sudden movement after nearly an hour of inactivity, but Nik quickly untightened them with a gentle caress from the Force. Slowly, gently, he lifted Badim with the Force and settled him into his arms, which began to glow once more with healing energies.

Together, the four of them trudged back towards the Jedi camp, the raging storm whipping at their clothes.

Clare gasped for air as she awoke in shock. Her eyes opened wide, she was aware of the situation. She looked around and saw Diann sprawled on the control panel, the flight control stick shoved through her arm. Clare gagged at the sight. There was blood all over her. Diann's clothes were soaked in the sticky liguid. She reached for her, only to find that she was still strapped in. She carefully unhooked herself and stood up in the pod as she got her barrings.
She reached for Diann's arm and carefully checked it over. Diann didn't move a muscle. But as she reached to check for a pulse, her chest rose slightly. She sighed in relief. They were both alive, for now at least, Diann had lost a lot of blood.
Clare firmly felt Diann's arm again, she moaned in pain for a moment, then fell back into unconsciousness. It was best if she waited for help, if there was help anywhere around here. She looked around the interior of the pod and found a rescue beacon and quickly activated it. Now anyone searching for them could easily find the pod. It pinged slowly and peacefully ever so often.

Clare sat back down in her seat and used her sleeve to wipe the cold sweat from her forehead. She had a blarring headache, and it seemed to hurt more when she touched it. She paused and let the pain fade away. Her thoughts shifted towards Badim, questions like, Was he okay? flowed and flurished in her mind.
Did he get to the other escape pod?
Did he survive the crash?
Is he dead?
She shook her head of these thoughts. Everything would turn out alright. She was sure of it. He had to be alive. Or else-
DUNG-DUNG-DUNG
"Hello! Can anyone hear me?" A man yelled from outside,
"Yeah! I can hear you! Help!"
"We're working on it! Just hang tight!"
"Hurry! My friend needs help!"
They were getting help now, but her thoughts turned to Badim again, was he alright?

Badim woke up in an upright tent, one you could stand and work in. Brisling wind made the tent ruffle in a terrifying way. His eyes slowly darted around the room; no one was in it, just him. He lifted his head up, only to rest it back down against the bunk he was lying down on. A splitting headache made its way across his whole forehead.
He placed his hand on his temples and rubbed the pain away. He closed his eyes and let his aching mind wander. He remembered entering the system, the asteroid strike. He remembered the crash. The crash! He darted his body off the bunk and planted his feet squarely on the ground.
His body shifted uneasily until he was face first on the ground. Grunting over his head hurting more, he made his way to the bunk, grabbed the leg of it and pulled his way back up. He brought himself up and into the bunk; he sat as though it were a chair instead of a bed.

He put both hands on his face and rubbed again. He was acting too rash, he was alive. But, he remembered thoughts of his entire life, another person delving into his mind, and the thought of acceptance. He was in quite a predicament. Never had he accepted death before, welcoming its soothing release. But Sara wouldn't let go, the first thought of her ensured a fleeting fight against death.

After all this thinking, he didn't realize he wasn't in his cloak until a brisk wind came into the tent and chilled his bones. He rubbed his arms aggressively, trying to use friction to warm them. He looked out the open canvas entrance out into a black, dimly lit world. Miniature tornados of snow whirled around the outside. A woman walked into the tent wearing what seemed to be, Jedi Robes.
"How are you feeling Mister Soilding?" She said. Making Badim lose his breath, his thoughts turned to questioning the girl. First on how she found out about his name.
"How do you know my name?" She smiled, walked in the tent and placed a heavy coat on a nearby table and replied,
"Nik Starskimmer told us your name when we got you back to camp. He was the one who led the rescue team to you and then prompt healed your wounds."
"My crew?"
"They're fine. They're in another tent getting medical attention right now."
"Thanks. Listen Miss...?"
"Koshina. Just Koshina."
"Can you tell this Nik, I need to speak with him? I want to thank him personally." He secretly needed to talk to him about how he acquired his name.

She nodded and began to leave; she turned around and said,
"Oh, those are heavy winter clothes. They're yours to keep warm."

"Thanks." He said as she left the tent. He got up more successfully this time and proceeded to put on the coat.

As the two Jedi exited from their craft, Dryas said a quick thanks under his breath to no one in particular for his natural layer of fur. Even if their flight gear provided them with a layer of warmth and protection against the cold, his hairier body made the frigid weather that much more bearable, and was a nice contrast to the discomfort he too often encountered on Yavin.

“So are they here?” Dryas asked, seeing if Homm had determined whether Vucora’s group had arrived. He had tried to determine the answer himself from looking at the other ships that were present, but it was difficult for him to differentiate between what craft might have been part of the main expedition teams ship pool and what might have come later.
“See for yourself.”

Yes, that would have been another way to do it. There wasn’t much of the Jedi camp that could be seen from the landing area, but he could see some of the individuals that were moving around, one of which he recognized as a student from Dantooine Academy.

“But yes, I did sense that Vucora is already here. I have no doubt she’s already within the ruins.”
“Master Homm, we weren’t expecting to see you here.” Said one of the base personnel as they approached the two Jedi.
“I wasn’t expecting to be here myself until recently.” Norran replied.

Dryas didn’t pay too much attention to the rest of the conversation, instead taking in the view of the planet as they traveled up the stairs. His attention was redirected, however, when the reached the top. He could sense that there was some sort of commotion going on. Or at least, had been going on. Nothing threatening in any way, yet out of the ordinary, and something about it had him wanting to find out what.

“If you don’t mind, master, I’ll catch up with you soon.”

Homm simply nodded and continued on toward the ruins, leaving Dryas to try to satisfy his curiosity.

Okay, I'm going to skip ahead to where I just left the planet and everything. Taking a jedi transport that was leaving for supplies and everything (I just asked if I could be dropped off at Nar Shaddaa) This has been holding alot of my RP time here.

Sorry, no time to post this, got another player waiting on me.

I'm following Badim's lead on this - If/When this thread starts up again, I'll return and help finish it up as I'm needed, but untill then I'm going to rush Dryas and Homm ahead to after they've left the planet.

Wow, sorry guys. I don't really have any excuses other than things kept coming up, and this got pushed to the back-burner. Sorry for keeping your characters in limbo for so long (though it seems some of you moved on anyway). In any event, I plan to at least finish this small little arc up, if only to let your characters free again. If you're still interested, then go ahead and hop in with your post(s), but if you don't have time, or are still mad at me, then I won't force you. :P

Complications had arisen. Upon their arrival at the excavation site, the Jedi had been informed that there was a disturbance within the temple. Their digging had caused some of the ice to shift and thus an entire section of the ruin was completely isolated by an unexpected collapse. Immediate action was taken to reclaim the lost progress, but it would take some time. Minutes quickly turned into hours and hours into days. Despite the harsh conditions and bitter cold of Rhen Var, Master Vucora remained in place, convinced that the wait would be worth her trouble. And yet she remained strangely silent regarding the mysterious find.

Senna remained mostly in meditation, spending what time she had left pouring over the other finds the excavation team had uncovered during their time in the frigid ruins. Most of them were small artifacts of relatively little importance that would be filed away within the various Jedi museums across the galaxy. The ones that caught her interest were all incomplete, destroyed by the savage forces on the planet. Or perhaps sabotaged on purpose long before anyone could uncover their meaning. It was all a riddle to be unlocked, but the keys had long since disappeared, leaving Senna to fumble in the dark at the locks. Of course, even one who is blind can find their way given enough patience. And Senna had more than enough patience.

"The others are getting restless, Master. Are you certain this is a wise choice to remain here?" Master Seyyr questioned as she slunk in through the doorway to Senna's private shelter. The small, prefab cabin was nothing to be proud of and the team had merely set it up quickly, not expecting such a prestigious Jedi to be staying among them for any length of tiem. However, it served its purpose more than well enough for the time being.

"I am," she replied, keeping her sightless gaze pinned to the orange and red horizon behind the small viewport. The snow had finally eased enough to let some light through, just enough to paint a beautiful sky, though still keeping everything uncomfortably cold. After a long moment, she finally pulled her attention from the window and turned toward her friend, adding, "This is simply a setback from a priceless find. It will pass, and when it does, we will have everything we came for. Are you worried about wasted time, Karon?"

"I am worried about you, Master. You seem to be walking closer and closer to a line that so many of us avoid. Be wary of your actions, or you may find yourself delving into—" the woman started, but was cut off by Senna's voice, who promptly finished her sentence for her.

"Obsession?" she said, adding a question mark to the end. She didn't entirely expect an answer, though Karon did nod weakly in reply. With a disapproving snort, Senna looked back out over the white plains outside. "Perhaps I am being more... Thorough than I should be, but being this close to a find like this could prove more valuble than anything else we have in the archives. So much information that once existed in this galaxy has been erased, and now we finally have a chance to piece back together some of the lost chapters in history. Do you not think that is something to 'obsess' over?"

Karon remained silent as her eyes traced to the floor, but that was enough to tell Senna exactly what she was thinking. Just as the Miraluka turned back to her friend to continue, a third face entered the small room, just enough to make her presence known. The new set of eyes looked upon both Jedi a little hesitantly, but after a brief moment of debate, she pushed her head in a little further to deliver her message.

"Masters, I apologize for the interruption, but our diggers have just breached through into the main chamber. We're through."

The slightest of smiles appeared on Senna's lips, accompanied by a small raising of her head before she answered the messenger, "Thank you. We'll be there momentarily." The other woman nodded and quickly removed herself from the doorway, which hissed shut and resumed the awkward silence between the two Jedi Masters. Senna stared at Karon for a long time, but eventually gathered her heavy cloak and glided past, saying nothing as she moved. When she emerged into the blowing snow, the door shut once more behind her. As she continued into the ruins, she stopped for a moment to glance back, but still didn't see her friend following behind. After hanging her head a small pang of disappointment, Senna pushed the thought to the back of her mind and refocused on the task at hand.

The air was cold, but perhaps not quite as cold as the air now between the two Jedi.

"Son of a bitch!"

Nik lifted the tent flap just in time to see Amara kick the base of an ancient terminal the excavation team had salvaged from the outlying ruins. The device likely contained a map of the entire structure in detail somewhere, and so Master Vucora had ordered Amara to try and recover whatever data she could from it. Amara had set to work with her characteristic enthusiasm, setting up shop in one of the encampment's heated tents to prevent her equipment from freezing. Nik forced himself not to shiver as he entered the tent, the biting wind receding as he lowered the tent flap. Ever since Soilding had left in his ship, there had been little call for Nik's skills. A bruised ankle here, a cold there; remarkably, no one had contracted frostbite from the sub-zero temperatures...yet. As it was, Nik had his medkit always close at hand, ready to assist if needed.

Although, it would be much simpler to rely on the Force instead...

Nik shook the thought away. He was a Healer first and a Jedi second. Using the Force carried its own risks, especially in healing. Nik had heard stories of Healers draining their own life-force unintentionally while healing. What was just as frightening was that after Nik had finished healing Soilding, he had felt...empty. It seemed as though the stories were true. Exerting himself so vigorously through the Force in such a way was dangerous, and so Nik had resolved to rely on his skills as a trained doctor rather than a healer for the duration of their visit. When he returned to Dantooine with Master Vucora and Amara, he would be able to investigate further with his access to the archives.

Nik smiled slightly at the sight of Amara's antics. "I thought the point was the repair the terminal, not send it into overload."

Amara turned at the sound of his voice and smiled back, brushing a strand of blue-black hair out of her face. "Yeah, well, it makes me feel better." Her eyes were covered in flash-goggles, and the azure bandana holding her hair back was still visible beneath her thick hood. She returned her gaze to the offending machine and continued probing the insides with her hydrospanner. While she worked, Nik looked around the tent. The tarp floor was littered in toolkits and parts, and Amara's ragged bag was hanging on the edge of the terminal's mounted screen where she could reach its contents without getting up from her workbench. There was a sudden spark from the computer, and Amara cursed again, this time in Huttese. "The display's fried," she announced, hunched over the smoking innards of the computer. "The memory's somewhat intact, but all the command pathways are shot to hell and back. Hand me the interface in the bag, would you?"

Nik stepped forward and started rummaging around in the satchel. "What does it look like?"

"Datapad with a jack and cable, blue casing, yellow cord."

Nik glanced in the toolbag; there were three devices fitting that description, all of them various sizes. "Which one?"

"The small one. No, wait-too advanced for this station. The big one. Akford-Plat model."

Nik withdrew the interface pad and placed it into Amara's outstretched hand. She accepted it without looking. "Thanks. Gimme a second." Amara inserted the jack into a singed data port, glancing at the readings on the pad as she did so. “Encrypted. I’ll have to slice them later.” Tapping a few commands into the ‘pad, she set her tools aside and moved the goggles onto her forehead, turning back to Nik. “So, what do you need?”

Nik was taken slightly aback at her bluntness. “I, I was just coming to see how you were,” he replied. He lifted his medkit. “I’m not sure why Master Vucora wanted me along; I haven’t had much to do since Soilding left on the supply ship.”

Amara frowned. “Wait, he left? When?”

“Two days ago,” Nik answered. “Why?”

“Because the last time I left the tent, I bumped into him.” She adopted a contemplative expression. “Have I really been in here for two days?”

Nik shrugged. “I haven’t seen you in two days, so the answer is probably yes. Not that I blame you; it’s a good idea to stay out of the cold.”

Amara grinned and was about to reply when Nik felt a familiar presence wash over him. Oh, boy.

“Jedi Starskimmer!” Master Vucora called from outside, “Technician Selanno!”

If something doesn’t happen soon, Nik thought to himself as he trudged through the snow and slush in the Jedi camp, I will go mad.

They had been on Rhen Var for two weeks now; every few days, Master Vucora or one of the other archeologists uncovered something new in the ruined citadel, whether it be a previously undiscovered chamber or the remains of yet another computer terminal or ancient datapad for Amara to examine. She already had a small mountain of the things in her tent, and no matter how fast she was working on decrypting the information that sat in their frozen cores she couldn’t keep up with the search teams. Already she was running out of room in her dwelling, the parts, tools, and machinery that was piling up cutting down on the living space she had each day…giving Nik a unique opportunity.

He shifted his shoulders uncomfortably in his jacket as unease fluttered through him. While Jedi were often encouraged to show compassion and sympathy towards all beings, strong emotional attachments–love, particularly–were strongly frowned upon. They weren’t outright forbidden, as they had been under the old Order: Master Skywalker himself was happily married, or so they said. Even so, it was rare for mere Knights to willingly form such attachments to others, even non-Jedi. Despite their formal training being complete, Knights still had a long ways to go before becoming Masters, and it was often said that each step a Jedi took towards fulfilling his own emotional desires was a step away from achieving a higher understanding of the Force.

Nik shook his head to clear it. What he was going to do wasn’t about love, he tried to tell himself. He was merely offering Amara the spare bunk in his own tent, to allow her to sleep peacefully without the electronic fuss of a dozen outdated computer terminals. Surely there was nothing wrong with that? After all, it wasn’t as if someone else was going to need the bunk. Since Nik’s assistant, Padawan Berring, had left with Soilding Nik had been alone in his tent. The isolation didn’t bother him, but some company wouldn’t hurt to pass the time on this blasted ice ball.

It would certainly stave off the boredom he faced every day.

Nik reached Amara’s tent, and as he pulled back the flap his eyebrows lifted in mild shock. The last time he had visited a few days ago, the salvage she had collected had been piled along one ‘wall’ of the tent. Now it was crammed in everywhere to the point that he could barely make out a path to the small clearing where Amy’s single-occupant cot and personal effects resided. Amy herself was half-submerged beneath the gutted inner workings of what looked like a holoprojector. As he watched, the lens flared to life and summoned the flickering, static-filled image of a robed Cerean female. Her words were too garbled to make out, but the fact that Amara had managed to retrieve that much from the device was impressive…considering the fact that it appeared as if a Hutt had sat on it.

Nik quietly cleared his throat, causing Amy to jerk in surprise–or rather, her legs, since that was all Nik could see. “Yeah?” she asked, annoyance pulsing from her in small waves as she resumed her work. “Who is it?”

“It’s me.”

Amara’s irritation at being interrupted flew away in a heartbeat, replaced by something else…Nik pulled away from her mind somewhat bashfully as she pulled herself out of the computer’s insides. She lifted the flash-goggles from her eyes and smiled, causing his heart to skip a beat. There is no passion, there is serenity, he chanted in his mind, although the words were meaningless to him at the moment. Smudges of grease stained her face and her dark blue hair, held in place by that same bandana she always wore, was stained with sweat…but to Nik’s eyes, she was beautiful.

“Nik!” she said, her face alight. She tossed the hydrospanner in her hand onto the desk behind her and somehow managed to maneuver herself between the flotsam that littered her dwelling, never losing her balance. Nik blinked as she stopped in front of him and embraced him; not at the hug but at how quickly she had reached him. Without the Force, he doubted he would have been able to replicate the feat without tripping.

Amara pulled away, wiping her fingerless gloves on her pants. “It’s good to see you.”

Nik gave her a brief smile. “The same to you.” He gestured to the nightmare behind her. “How did you–?”

She glanced behind her in confusion before a grin crossed her face. “Oh, you get used to it. My workshop on Nar Shaddaa was way worse, trust me.” Abruptly her features fell, as did her gaze.

“What’s wrong?” Nik asked. He reached out slightly through the Force, taking care not to intrude on her thoughts. Sadness was creeping in on her once-happy mood, as if she had just remembered something she would rather have forgotten. Sadness…and longing. Unable to comfort her through the Force, as he would a fellow Jedi, Nik laid a hand on her shoulder.

Amy waved her hand dismissively. “It’s nothing…I just wondered what my old junk shop is being used for these days.” She snorted contemptuously. “Grudo’s probably stripped it bare and burned it down out of spite by now.” Before Nik could respond, her expression changed again, once again cheerful. “But hey, you probably didn’t come here to listen to me mope about my old job. What’d you need?”

For a moment Nik was tempted to ignore his reason for coming. A Jedi knows compassion. Amara undoubtedly missed her home, and criminal underworld or not the fact that she was considered nothing more than a healthy paycheck by many in that sector had to be disconcerting for her. It was akin to a forced exile, something no being took well. Nik extended his sphere of awareness again…and hesitated. Now that he could sense her on more than an emotional level, Nik could tell that Amara had long put her past behind her. A life of scrounging and scrabbling for scraps to make ends meet had taught her the hard way not to hold onto something for too long…even her livelihood.

While she isn’t likely to suffer a depression over her adopted homeworld, this doesn’t exactly help my chances of sparking a connection with her.

The stray thought jolted Nik out of his reverie, and he quickly clamped down on it. Serenity. There is no passion. The words were empty to him now.

He realized that Amy was staring at him intently, a small frown creasing her face. “You okay?”

He shook his head, brushing his short hair back in what he hoped was a casual gesture. “Yes, I’m fine.” Now or never. “Actually, I…I wanted to ask you something.”
