Sara looked at Sean while he recovered from the attack. His movement was erratic, sloppy. But it was keeping her from getting a strike in. She ran a hand against her leg to feel the slight burn it had taken from Sean’s training saber getting close to it. It felt worse than the stun bolt from the training remote, as that only lasted for a single second, while this one was throbbing from the close encounter. She thought about trying a healing trance or something she had seen Nik on Rhen Var use on the crew, being a Jedi Healer and all, but it seemed like it took every ounce of him to heal their wounds. Something she didn’t feel like trying or wasting energy on just yet.

She listened to Sean’s words, “There is a fine line between arrogance and confidence. Don't cross it or you will die."

Sara contemplated on the words. They were filled with tiredness and fog. Far different from what the energy and clarity just a while ago. What did you do before we began? she inwardly asked herself. Before lunging forward and crossed blades with Sean. The blue and yellow blades creating a halo of green where they touched and battled for control. Sara grimaced while she used all of her muscle power to push Sean back to the floor, but he didn’t budge no matter how hard she tried.

Between the blades their faces were closing, and through Sean’s breath she almost fell backwards at the alcoholic smell. She whirled around and got a generous swipe to the back of her calf. She grabbed it and hopped in pain. He’d made full contact that time and her leg flared in pain. Sara glared at Sean as she slowly recovered, “Are you drunk!?” referencing to his breath. She jumped at him again with her blade extended.

Sean staggered back again as he deflected the next attack. He was still in his drunken dueling style, but against a novice like Sara it was doing quite well. He staggered and dropped and fell his way away from every attack she tried to land on him. Finally, seemingly upset, she asked if he was drunk. He flashed her a playful grin. "Only a little."

She jumped forward at him, slashing as she closed the distance. Sean parried easily then returned to his drunken dance, flitting about her, surrendering himself to instinct. This was just what he needed. No thought, no emotion. There was simply pure instinct and fog. He was losing himself, and that was splendid at this point in time.

However, he lost himself just a little too much. An idea came to him, one that amused him and brought a grin to his face... one that, were he sober, he would not attempt. Things being how they were, however, he was not sober, and therefore he didn't think of the ramifications of his actions.

When next Sara attacked, Sean went on the offensive for the first time in the duel. He began a.... semi.... complex series of attacks, letting his offbalance style confuse her. Finally, he twirled his wrist and disarmed her, sending her saber flying across the hold. This was the moment that he got the previously mentioned idea. Without thinking, he stepped forward, wrapped an arm around her waist, and kissed her.

Her lightsaber flung out of her hand and she watched it desperately, tumbling end over end, slowing down as she called it back to her through The Force. It continued away from her anyhow and hit the bulkhead. She hadn’t realized it, but Sean was right in front of her. Wrapping an arm around her waist forcefully and leaving her without time to react, thinking it was training of a sorts, to retrieve her lightsaber and react to a closing opponent. But instead he leaned and she was helpless when their lips met.
Mmph!” she uttered through her closed mouth, some of her breath slipping into Sean’s mouth. Her lips were unmoving against his slow opening and closing of his mouth, frozen still at the shock that this portion wasn’t lightsaber practice, but his own drunken instincts had taken over mid-practice and here they were. Kissing in the cargo hold with Sean’s training saber deactivating and dropping to the floor.

His eyes were closed while he wrapped his other arm around her as well, to make sure she stayed put while he indulged. And frankly, she felt like she was floating, not caged or being forced to indulge in it as well. She’d never, to tell the truth, been kissed before. One could say her kiss given to Badim didn’t count, since it was only to comfort him while he still coped with his loss.
Her eyes finally closed and let her world melt away, opening her mouth to match his movements. She didn’t know how long they stayed this way, but something didn’t feel right about it. Sean was her Jedi Master, and she was just a trainee. It felt right, but it wasn’t.

Sara pulled away and wiped her lips with her black, elbow length glove. Feeling her hair, which had apparently been floating as well as her spirit fall on her shoulders. She opened her eyes and pushed Sean away as he tried to continue. And even then, she had to be more forceful herself to snap him back into reality, and that, from what she had heard, it was forbidden for a Jedi to have that kind of relationship. She swiftly slapped him across the face, then once more with her other hand. Sara felt low, Used. Had she just been taken along as a toy instead of teaching her how to use The Force? Yes, the latter was true, but was this the goal the whole time?

She had a thought to say How dare you!, a great majority of her mind agreeing with it. But if Sean had been the player she had imagined back at The Haze, how he had acted in the bar and what he had just done here, all suggested he was. And if that were true, he’d be expecting those words. He needed a lasting impression to not mess with her.
Pissed. She called her training saber back to her and ignited it instantly, then swiping Sean across the chest with the yellow blade. He had left himself open, stunned that she had refused him she assumed. His shirt tore from where the blade had impacted, and before he could say anything in slurred retaliation. Sara’s lightsaber was deactivated and clipped back onto her belt. Force calling the training remote from the bin and into her hand, taking it back to her room with her. She needed to vent some stream off on the poor little droid. It wasn’t going to get off easy with just being temporarily disabled like last time.

The door to her cabin hissed over and quickly hissed shut again. She made sure to have locked it this time, not in the Thought-I-Did way earlier. She activated the droid and set it on it’s highest settings, then activated her lightsaber and began to bat away the stun bolts across the small room. Most made it past on this high setting, but she was so mad and out of place that she didn’t care about the pain and just concentrated on batting a bolt back at the droid repeatedly. After what seemed like forever, she finally batted two or three bolts, too fast to count, back at the droid and watched it fall to the ground. Sure, in this exercise she would have been dead a hundred times over, and her body ached, but it had partially removed her anger.

Sara lifted a hand and tossed the droid on her bunk. She sighed loudly and in agitation. She planted herself on the ground and began her breathing exercises, taking her into her meditative state and calmed herself and reflected. This was a horrible idea coming along with Sean, and the first chance she got to switch Masters. She would. She smirked, maybe she’d get Corran Horn.

As Sara stormed from the hold, the world, the galaxy, the universe came crashing back down on Sean unmercifully, crushing him. He stumbled over to his work bench and leaned over it, using it for support. What had he done? How could he have been so stupid? Not even the brandy was dulling the pain now. The loss, the hurt... it was all too much. How could he ever get over this. First.... her.... now his father.... he just wanted to be okay, that was all. He just wanted to be normal again.

He shook as a vast variety of emotions swept through him. He was unable to cope with any of them, drunken or sober, as the entire collection of repressed, unresolved thoughts and insecurities washed over him anew. It felt so hopeless, so meaningless. How could he cope? He was broken.

Finally, he half-stumbled-half walked to his cabin. Once he entered, he sealed the door. Bypassing alcohol or anything else, he collapsed on his bed. He lay there for a moment in silence. Then, he began to weep until he fell asleep.

*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*

When morning came—relatively speaking—Sean was not faring any better. He was now sober, hungover, still disturbed from the past night, and had been haunted by nightmares and relived memories in his sleep. He rolled out of bed early, clearly not going to be able to get any more sleep. He took a moment to clean himself up slightly, though a full blown shower was beyond his initiative just now. After a few moments, he moved out to Sara's room. She had the door locked, but he quickly overrode that.

She was still asleep, which was understandable. It was still early morning on Coruscant right now. He rapped on the bulkhead quickly, and waited until she turned to look at him. He couldn't really tell how she reacted to his presence. He was.... distant, now. Lost in the past and in his thoughts. He stood there for a moment, not sure if she said anything or not, before he spoke.

"I'm sorry about before, in the hold. I....." he was going to explain himself, but he came up short. She wouldn't care why he had been like that.... instead, he switched gears. "It won't happen again." He then left her, letting the door close behind him, and headed for the cockpit. Once there, he settled in his pilot's chair and stared out at the tunnel of hyperspace, lost within himself. They'd be arriving at Kashyyyk sometime today.

Sara was awake the entire night. She couldn’t get to sleep after what had happened the night before. And she was glad she stayed up, since she realized now that Sean could override any door on the ship at will. And she’d have to be careful about what she was doing when the door was locked, since he could barge right in on her privacy. She listened as he apologized, it wasn’t unexpected to say the least.

"It won't happen again."

The door shut and Sean was gone. And she wondered if he would truly keep to those words. She wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t either. She wasn’t going to give him the chance, she was going to jump ship at the first chance she could get, but she had promised to stay here on the revenge mission to bring justice to Jacoba Tavell‘s killers. After they were done with that, she’d leave for some academy somewhere.

She got up from her bed, opening her cabin door and heading for the cockpit. She had no idea how long she stayed in her cabin since Sean left, contemplating and reasoning with his words. An idea of how long she had been in her cabin was that Kashyyyk was before them. The dark, lush green world was before her, and Sean, in the cockpit. She took a seat in the copilots seat, still feeling agitated and angry at Sean for what he had done the night before despite his apology.

“Kashyyyk,” she muttered under her breath, “Rwookrrorro is a place to start. It’s also where we can get quick access to the Shadowlands, should our search lead us there.”

Sean was quiet, still recovering from the drunken act he had committed the night before. He only nodded at the information she had given. He felt misshapen, broken and out of place. That’s what she could tell from her senses, but his posture wasn’t the same as she had seen before. His feet weren’t propped up on the consoles and his hands weren’t blissfully behind his head. What happened last night had done something to him. His dry face was another indication, dry from salted tears. She knew the site of it, since she had done the same thing for Jonas when he was eaten by the Sarlacc, and the same when she was in the belly herself.

Sean typed in a set of coordinates and Kashyyyk quickly approached after they got clearance to land. Sara could suddenly feel her uncle. She needed to see him when they landed. Alone.

Moved. Also, a tip: it's not necessary to make a separate post detailing where the plot has moved to, if you use the plot tracking system in every post.

Sean brought the ship in for a landing, settling it down a bit roughly. He had said nothing else to Sara that morning, still rather lost within himself. He stared out the viewport at the surrounding tress for quite some time, not aware of anything aside from his own personal hell. After some time, he raised a brow over at Sara. "Perhaps you might go and investigate on your own. I'll be right behind you." His voice was still distant and removed, almost uncaring... it very well may have been a dismissal.

He didn't notice when Sara left, but next he was aware he was alone. So very alone. He didn't know how long it had been, as time slowly lost all meaning. Despair rid him of everything but sorrow. Sorrow for the loss of his father, sorrow for... everything involving her. What was worse was that it was all his fault. Everything was his fault. He was a talented, skilled Jedi, yet he couldn't do anything right. If only he'd tried a bit harder. If only he'd been there with his father.... If only, if only.

What was the point any more? How could he move past this? What if he managed to regain control and this came back to him at the worst moment? Was he any good for anything? Maybe, maybe not. It was all too confusing for him.... he knew that he had to snap out of it, but he couldn't. His world was slowly losing everything. He became aware of less and less....

Previous portion of this post can be found here: http://unity.swrpgs.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=10309#10309

Shawn and Sara entered The Nova Hound and walked towards the cockpit. The walk back here had been quiet. She was mad, though understanding, towards Sean, mad at Shawn for keeping this family secret of Jedi abilities and a long dead brother, and mad at herself for being naive in joining Sean and allowing him to do what he did last night. She breathed in calmly, There is no emotion, there is peace.
The cockpit appeared to them and she saw Sean, still in the position he had been when she left for The Sage Kinrath hours ago. He wasn’t recovering as quickly as she had thought.
“Sean?” she asked. Hoping it would snap him out of the state he had been in.

Despite the appearances stating otherwise, Sean had hit a peak. He was over the worst of it. As Sara came in and called his name, he tilted his head slightly and cocked a brow. He saw someone with her, but honestly didn't care who it was.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, centering himself. Slowly, Jedi techniques for control came back to him. As stability returned to his world, he put his head in his hands and continued to breath deeply. Slowly, methodically, Sean began shoving aside all his thoughts and insecurities of the past day or so. It was a tedious process, but he had to regain control of himself. Slowly he felt himself melting back into the galaxy, felt the life thrilling around him. Slowly he was recovering.

He realized he was very hungry. A good sign. It meant he was back. he stood, stretched, then walked past Sara and her guest. When he spoke, his voice was still aloof, still off, but certainly better than before. "I'm hungry. If you have anything to say, follow me."

He went to the galley, and as he began cooking things kept sinking back in. Finally, the recent murder of his father was back, and the burning resolve for revenge came back to him tenfold. His chopping and cooking became more furious, though otherwise he appeared in complete control. He didn't pay much attention to Sara until his food was sitting in front of him on the table and making its way to his mouth. He had made enough for four or five, should the other two wish to join him.

Sara sighed. Sean sounded better, and that made Sara relax a bit. Maybe it was all behind them now, just drunken instinct. But the thought of the night before still sent shivers down her body. Shawn was a little nervous being around Jedi, she could feel. It was probably coming down on him faster than he could contemplate, even keeping Sara from finding out about it entirely. He felt a little defeated from what she could tell, perhaps he promised her parents she wouldn’t find out about her powers. It was fruitless, however, whether she received training with Tarison while he was alive or not, she was destined to be this way. And she wouldn’t have made the friends she had gained and lost, or the experiences one could say that never happen. She still didn’t believe Boba Fett actually got eaten by a Sarlacc, and was making it up to raise his reputation.

Sara turned to Shawn, “Why did you keep the secret from me this entire time?” she asked a little softer than before.

“I promised Darik that I wouldn’t tell you. He didn’t know how long the war was going to last with Zend, and didn’t want you going around with a lightsaber against Imperials,” he laughed, “Looks like you’re going to end up doing that anyways.”

“I’m not in this for the Union or The Jedi Order,” Sara said, though she was unsure of those words herself, “I’m not even an official member. I’m just here to help Sean on a mission he’s on for The Jedi. To find the killers of a merchant on Corellia and bring them to justice. In exchange I’m receiving training. I‘m not going to get into this coming war.”

“Well…” Shawn started, but his thoughts became troubled at her claims, most likely, “Good. Just stay out of trouble.” he smiled.

“Let me show you around.” Sara said as she began to take Shawn around the ship and show him various places onboard.

* * *

Sara soon smelled something cooking and offered Shawn to join her and Sean for whatever Sean was making. He quickly accepted for another chance to catch up with his niece. They went to the galley where they found Sean about to start eating, noticing the two entering and offering them eat a seat and a plate of food. They sat and began to discuss, though Sean stayed fairly mute, his thoughts fogged from what Sara could tell. Maybe his barriers were back up and she couldn‘t feel anything from him, or in whole at least.
Shawn spoke up towards Sean, “So who was this merchant on Corellia I hear about? I’ve been hearing whispers here and there, and I’ll help you and Sara as best I can.”

Sean was about to shove his fork, laden with food, back in his mouth, but froze at the question. Instead, he set it slowly down on the plate. He looked at the man for the first time, furrowing his brows as his mind raced to provide a name. Finally, he asked, "Who are you?" but before either Sara or the man could answer, Sean merely shook his head and moved on.

"Jacoba Tavell was...." He paused, letting his mind carefully process the facts so as not to reveal too much to a perfect stranger. "A good man." he finished. "He was a well respected merchant in Coronet, until his wife's indiscretions led to shame and exile. Leaving her and the city behind, he and his son relocated to Bela Vistal. He built a large merchant enterprise there, actually, and was actively involved in the community. I don't know the details, but he was murdered for it. Most people agree upon that."

Sean stood and moved over to the viewscreen, powering it on and flipping some switches and the like until the security footage from his father's office was playing again. He once more paused it on the lead man's face. "This here is our assassin... the man we are after." He traced a circle around him with his finger. "And this..." he said, circling one of the emblems on the mercenary gear that was visible, "is a symbol that Corsec assumed was related to a gang that they were otherwise unfamiliar with. Any ideas on either of them?" Sean looked back at Sara and her guest now, raising a brow at him.

Sara turned to Shawn. Watching his eyes widen; his being enlighten and shudder while he looked on the security footage, listening to Sean describe the assassin and the emblem adorning the gear. Shawn straightened himself, closing his eyes as his thoughts turned to something Sara couldn’t piece together through The Force. He must have felt her and shot her a glance and she instantly withdrew the best she could. He smiled once she did. Perhaps Ganner had done something similar. Shawn turned back to Sean.

“I don’t know anything about the emblem, I was Shaddaaian born and raised. Simply a former bar owner. But the man…” Shawn trailed, letting his words hang while he concluded and organized his thoughts, “He just arrived here and came into The Sage Kinrath Cantina yesterday. Sat at a table across from me and he and a man in the suit, I’d assume from the way they were talking I thought they would know each other, discussed how to split the credits they were being paid. They decided to try and lay low for a bit after the drop.” Shawn closed his eyes, then opened them as his thoughts organized once more, “They left the cantina and turned southward and--”

“--Towards the Shadowlands.” Sara interjected her resolution. She realized what the purpose of doing so was, seeing as how she had done so for two years, minus the last month or so, “A Perfect hiding spot.”

Sean began pacing, one arm folded across his chest, the other slowly stroking his goatee. His thoughts began to process this information rapidly, moving from one option to the next. Finally, he spoke, sounding distracted... almost as if speaking to himself. "I find it unlikely they would be wanting to hide in the shadowlands. You go there only if you have to, and only if someone is looking for you. As far as I know, there is no reason for them to be suspicious of being followed. Corsec's authority, for all intents and purposes, remains on Corellia, and Jacoba was not high priority enough to warrant any higher authority looking into his murder."

Sean was still pacing, his mind still lost in thought. "Besides, regardless we can't go into the shadowlands. Obtaining permission is more of a hassle than I wish to endure at the moment, and even if our assassins did manage to get down there, it's far too large and dangerous to attempt to find them." Sean continued his pacing, let his mind envelope the entire situation. "It wouldn't make sense to come here anyways. If they wanted to lie low, Nar Shadaa isn't that much further, and they'd certainly be more at home their. Not to mention it's outside of alliance space..."

"Hmm..... no, they aren't in the shadowlands. I just can't see it." For the first time, Sean acknowledged the other two. "You.... whoever you are, do you have connections in the docking authority?"

Shawn raised a brow at Sean, but otherwise just said, "I do, young man."

"Good." Sean moved over to a counter and grabbed the datapad he got from the docking authority on Corellia. "Since you seem so intent on helping, would you mind checking with the docking authority to see if any of these ships have arrived and departed recently. Meanwhile, I am going to make a call to an old friend." With that, Sean moved to the hallway connecting to the cockpit and turned on the comm unit.

Shawn nodded to Sean, standing up and motioning Sara to follow. They left The Nova Hound and began to walk towards the Dock Authority’s Office. Sara strode next to her uncle while he ranted on at how she shouldn’t be traveling with Sean. Seen his type before and she should stay away and etcetera, etcetera. She had made a promise to stay with Sean until his mission with The Council was over. And despite what she had said about not joining The Order, if she left Sean, she’d need more training in her abilities. It wasn’t an option for her to seek out The Order, it was required. She’d need the help.

The two walked to the building they were heading to and stepped inside. A woman of around thirty years of age was behind the counter, glanced upwards and snorted, “Shawn, what brings you in here?”

“Jem,” Shawn said, moving up to the counter and placing his palms on the surface, “I need a favor.” Shawn pulled out the datapad and slid it to Jem, being sure to have turned it on and the information was there for her to see, “I need to know where this ship is, Jedi Business.”

“Please.” Jem scoffed, “You don’t even know what Jedi Business is.”

Sara stepped forward and gestured towards her lightsaber, the woman still scoffed stating that anyone could make a metal cylinder with ease. She need proof? She’s got proof.
Sara held the hilt to point upwards at her hip and ignited the lightsaber, with a snap-hiss the blade shot out and stopped just above her head. Jem was taken back and quickly began to apologize when Sara deactivated her lightsaber.
Jem quickly began to rummage through files on her console until she yelled Ahah!
“They’re not here anymore, but they left for Dantooine. That’s what our hyperspace satellites in orbit detected. GU Measures.”

“Thanks for the cooperation, Jem,” Shawn said, nodding to Sara before glancing back, “I owe you a drink.”

* * *

Sara and Shawn returned to The Nova Hound. Sara went up the ramp and turned to her uncle, standing on the landing pad; looking up at her.
“What? Come on. We’ve got a killer to track down.” Sara said, waving Shawn inside.
He shook his head and began to step back, tossing her the datapad in his hand, “This isn’t my adventure. Take care and be careful around that Sean character. And May The Force Be With You, Sara Soto.”

Sara rushed down the boarding ramp and hugged the one who had took care of her for so many years since her family’s death. Shawn was the only family she had come to know in recent years, aside from the new one she had made and abandoned on The Leaper.
For their own safety, she muttered in her head.

Shawn pulled away and she ran up the ramp, getting a final look at her Thought-of-Uncle before she retracted the ramp and heard it’s seals lock. She sighed and left for the cockpit to inform Sean where to go next.

The Corsec officer on the screen of the comm unit looked surprised to see Sean. "Tavell.... my my, it's been a long while. How's it going?"

Sean smiled at him briefly. "Not all too horrible, Steven. Yourself?"

"Same as always. Stopping crime. Catching criminals. Saving the bloody galaxy."

"Still married to that girl?"

"Desdemona? Yeah, yeah I am."

"Could never like that name."

Steven laughed. "I prefer you don't, given your reputation." Sean laughed, but said nothing. "So, what brings about this call? No doubt some Jedi business. Don't think you'd be calling for a social reason... not at work anyways."

Sean laughed. "Those detective skills coming into play, I see. No, it's not purely social. Was wondering if I could send you a photo of a man and a name of a ship and see what you can dig up for me. That too much to ask?"

"Nah, shouldn't be too bad. Send it over. I'll see what I can do."

"Thanks Steven. Sending it now."

"Alriiiiight........" The comm was silent for a long moment. "Annnd, got it. I'll keep ya informed."

"Thanks Steve." Sean went to close the call.

"Oh, and Sean?" Sean paused. "Sorry bout your dad. I know you were close."

Sean was silent for a long, long moment. "Thanks Steve." He then closed the call and went up to the cockpit.

*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*

Sean was sitting with his feet propped up on the console. lost in thought though not nearly as bad as before.... actually quite normal. It took him a moment then to realize what had pulled him out of his reverie. He traced back the last few moments, going over each individual thing in the cockpit. Finally, his eyes rested upon a screen showing the boarding ramp and Sara rushing onboard. His mind recalled what had caught his attention.

"May The Force Be With You, Sara Soto." He hadn't heard that last name in a long time. Very interesting. As Sara rushed into the cockpit, he turned towards her, raised a brow, and looked her over very carefully from head to foot. Most interesting. It was her. What a small universe.

Sara stood at the entrance to the cockpit, getting Sean’s attention and watching as he spun his chair around slowly. Scanning her from head to toe in a careful manner. His thoughts were calm, repeating. Reflective? She shook her head, “Here’s the datapad with the updated information on the ship. Apparently,” she looked down at the ‘pad, “They switched names while they were here. The ship’s now The Dimensional Extreme. Don’t know why. Might have pulled that one out of a hat of worst ship names ever.” Sara chuckled, she wondered if she was catching Sean’s behavior and passed the ‘pad to him. But his gaze was still fixed on her.

“What?”

“I don’t think I ever got your last name.” he asked.

She thought for a moment, maybe she should ask for his last name. But instead said, “Soto. Why?”

“I thought that’s what I heard whats-his-name say that.”

Shawn. And what’s my last name mean to you?” Sara asked, but for some reason stopped herself from asking for Sean’s last name in exchange. And watched as he leaned back into his chair. Propping his feet on the passenger chair just off to the left of the captain’s chair, or to the right from Sean’s current point of view.

“It’s actually a very riveting tale…”

Sean closed his eyes for a long moment, a contemplative look on his face. It was indeed a riveting tale....

He sat up quickly, eyes popping open, and his hands slapping his knees. "But, will have to wait for another time." Sean began studying the datapad. "Hmmm..... Dantooine, eh? Most odd...." He looked over the rest of the information, now intent on the task before him. His past would have to wait, for the present called. "So, a name change..... intriguing. Rather illogical. TL-1800s are pretty hard to miss. Anyone looking for them would spot them regardless. They can't be running. That just doesn't make sense. Unless...."

He looked through the data pad one more time, intent on the task before him. "Unless they were impersonating another ship. I could see that being the case. Wouldn't surprise me one bit." Sean paused, letting his mind wander. "Regardless, we have to get moving else we'll miss them again. Strap in Sara." With that, Sean cleared it with the docking authority as he powered up and lifted off, intent on reaching Dantooine in record time.

Sara watched the stars stretch and envelop The Nova Hound and propel them towards Dantooine. Sara had no choice but to strap in during take off, Sean was getting eager to get off Kashyyyk as quickly as he could and towards Dantooine, she could tell from what he allowed to seep out. She wondered what Sean could have meant with a Riveting Tale on what her family’s last name had to do with him, and more importantly what it meant to her. She shook her head, pressed down the release button with the Force, though she had to physically depress it, her Force abilities coming and going as she still got used to them; and made to leave the cockpit.

She turned back to Sean briefly and said, “If it’s another time yet, I’d like to hear what you were talking about with a riveting tale. If not, I’m going to meditate.”

Sara all but gave up on trying to figure out what Sean had meant, and decided to follow up on her claim and meditate. She held her training saber in her hand, just admiring the delicate workings of the unseen interior. She’d need to make her own, one that could actually stand in a fight. But until then, at least her current saber could deflect a blaster bolt. So she hoped. She’d only been able to do stinging, stun bolts, and she didn’t know if it could deflect a fully powered, and fatal blaster bolt.

Sara shook her head, entering her room where she sat on her bunk, cross-legged and eyes closed. As a test she opened her eyes and willed her lightsaber to rise, it did. Though only an inch from the sheets and then it faltered to the bedding. Her abilities were inconsistent, she would really need to work on it.
She reached forward and grabbed her training saber and set it aside, within arms reach. She closed her eyes once more and began her breathing method. Finding her center and becoming part of The Force, figuratively. Sara searched for a familiar feeling, the feel of Badim next to her as they had fought together. Searching for him and his whereabouts. She couldn’t. They had a bond, a friendship. But he wasn’t sensitive to The Force like she was, and he’d have to be on the same planet in order for her to even feel a twitch.

Sara feared she was never going to see him or the friends she had made and abandoned ever again. It was hard. She had sacrificed everything, burned bridges and left the people who wanted to help her behind. And for what? A Force trick or two and losing her first kiss to a drunken, now sober, man she barely knew? And now he apparently knew something about her last name and he wasn’t saying anything?
She was rocked out of her meditation, too many outward thoughts interrupting her session. Sara opened her eyes as if she had awoken from a deep sleep, she checked the chrono in the room. She had been ’out‘ for four hours. They should be arriving at Dantooine soon and decided to pass the time by batting away more stun bolts with the training remote. The stun bolts wouldn’t damage anything in the room or char it, so she tested herself again, though on a medium difficulty, she wasn’t ready for a full on E-Web blaster setting.

Sara gestured her hand and called her training saber to her. The saber flew, and impacted her knee in full force. She jumped for a moment in surprise, then sighed, bent down and pick up the saber that failed to reach her palm, rubbing her knee to null the pain. A tingle in the back of her head made her stop, then she felt the all too familiar sting of a stun bolt. Another tingle shot from the back of her head to her forearm, and a millisecond later another stun bolt impacted her exactly where the tingle directed. Yet another tingle, and she caught on. She ignited her lightsaber as the sunshine blade shot out and deflected the third bolt.
She felt the touch again, and deflected another bolt that had aimed to her leg. A warning system huh? she mused. She could get used to this.

Sean killed some time in the cockpit doing various tasks. Finally, he grew tired of mundane tasks. They were nearing his father's killer and soon it'd be time for combat. Sean had to be prepared. He stood and moved past the cabins to the cargo hold. He heard the training remote going in Sara's room, but otherwise left her alone.

When he entered the empty cargo hold, he pulled off his jacket and shirt. The cold air of the spaceship felt good against his bare skin. He took a deep breath then pulled his saber from the inside of his jacket. Calmly, he ignited it, feeling the power of the blade thrumming in his palm. Slowly at first, he moved through a few stances, flexing his muscles, keeping them toned. It had been a while since he'd dedicated some time to retaining his swordsmanship, and he was losing his edge slightly.

As he progressed, his movements grew faster and faster. He closed his eyes and imagined and epic battle around him. His blade twirled around his body in a graceful dance, deflecting imaginary blaster bolts and lightsabers. He let the tension that had been building up inside seep out with every movement. His thoughts became scattered, and then they settled into the back of his mind as the dance took complete control of him. He didn't know how long he'd been at it when he heard the ship's automated alarm stating that the hyperspace jump was coming to an end.

Sara heard the alarm and finished her training. Tapping into the Force to simply touch the deactivation switch behind the training remote. While the droid was in her grasp she, with lessening strain, gently brought the remote over to her bunk and left it there. Her sunshine training blade deactivated and clipped to her belt and she turned to the door. The door hissed and she heard the deactivation hiss of a lightsaber in the cargo hold. She had felt Sean go past the door just a half-hour later, so she assumed it was him. Who else could it be? she shook her head. Dantooine was near.

She entered the cockpit to see the blue realm of hyperspace evaporate and reveal the light green world of Dantooine. It’s rolling, endless plains covering the world with splotches of oceans, lakes and strings of rivers. The only thing that came close to Dantooine’s beauty was Naboo, and she preferred the latter to a farm world. Still, there was a killer down there, and she and Sean were going to take him down. Speaking of Sean. He strode into the cockpit, sat in the pilots chair and began to fly them in while answering a question or two from the Khoonda Authorities before being given a flight pattern. Sara sat in the co-pilot seat and strapped in, before she could comprehend the rolling plains were running briskly below them as they soared towards the main settlement, Knoonda.

Sara checked a console to her right and brought up information of the area. There was apparently a Jedi Academy here, that could be useful. That was all she really needed to see, and she thought she got a glimpse of a ship named The Killer’s Fate II, but her screen had closed already and she dismissed it.
Sean set The Hound down on one of the eastern landing pads of Khoonda and began the shut down sequences. Sara stood and left for the boarding ramp, removing the lightsaber from her hip and setting it inside her jacket pocket. It wasn’t like Sean’s jacket where it kept it hidden, but still within reach. She didn’t have a secret pocket or sleeve inside her jacket, at least it clipped to the inside.

Sara waited at the ramp for Sean to arrive.

Sean sat for a minute after Sara left the cockpit. He'd always liked Dantooine. Sure, he didn't really want to live here or anything, but it was a calm, peaceful place. He came here after she..... well.... at one of the worst times in his life. After a long moment, he stood and moved to the fresher, where he cleaned himself up slightly, washing the sweat from his training session off. It only took him an extra minute or two, at which point he pulled his shirt and jacket back on. He secured his saber and moved to the ramp.

He walked up next to Sara and stood for a moment. The two of them were a little.... off. There seemed to be some tension that wasn't there previously. Oh well. Didn't do anything to dwell on it.

"So. I'm sure they landed here. How do you want to go about this? I have a murderer to catch." Sean turned towards Sara, but before either could say another word, a passing dock functionary looked at Sean in surprise.

"Knight Tavell.... It's been a while. Didn't think I'd see you again, honestly." Sean laughed genuinely, recognizing the voice instantly.

"Gregor, well now, it has been a while. Still as bad at Pazaak as you used to be? If I remember correctly, you lost a good few months worth of pay to me in our time together."

The dock worker, Gregor apparently, laughed. "That I did. I'm a might better now though. It has been a few years. You on planet for long, Sean? We'll have to play a game or two."

Sean smiled. "Here on business, I'm afraid. May or may not be on planet long. If I have time, I certainly will though. Now, you best get moving along before that supervisor of yours gets on your case. Looks like he's casting you some dirty looks just now."

Gregor looked where Sean pointed, then chuckled. "That he is. Alright, well, take care Sean Tavell. I'll see you around, I'm sure. We'll probably bump into each other at the cantina or some such."

"That we will. Take care, old friend." Sean waved at him as he left.

Sara listened in on the conversation between Gregor and Sean Tavell. She didn’t interrupt, but during the time she had been left to think on the mission. Was this a mission to stop the killer’s? Or a mission of vengeance? She had left one vengeance mission for another, and this could explain Sean’s excess of drinking and his drunken kiss. Gregor left and Sara looked at Sean with crossed arms, then he turned. She felt like she had been lied to, and in a way she had been with the way Sean spoke of the mission. That he was sent by the council in place of the mourning Jedi to deal with the killer for him. Instead he was the one mourning and out for vengeance, and she was led on with his story.

Sean looked at her and looked confused at the stern look she was giving him, a searching one.
“If I may ask,” she said, using an irritated tone, “Why hadn’t you told me you were related to Jacoba? Sean Tavell?”

Sean froze at her comment. He'd forgotten that she didn't know. He'd forgotten that he had felt better about himself if he pretended his father had never died. He was an idiot, but he had already known that. The past few years had taught him that very well. He didn't know what to say. He didn't know how to say what he knew he should say. So instead he was quiet. He looked away briefly.

The last few weeks came back to him. A large portion was a drunken stupor. He needed to stop drinking. But he needed to stop stalling and deal with the current problem first. He wracked his brain for an adequate explanation. Nothing came. Finally, he started to speak. However, all that came out was, "Jacoba Tavell is... was... my father." He turned and moved down the ramp into Khoonda.
