"what do you want?" the gruff, harsh voice of a cliffhold docking tenant came over the comm. the one that was working anyway.

"Docking permissions" Tseneca said plainly.

"we don't have room." The voice said again.

Tseneca didn't have time for games. she needed to land and fix her gorram ship.

"you have room." she snapped. "I can see an open docking bay off my starboard side."

"Its reserved." He whined back.

Tseneca closed the link and opened another one within the ship. "Lucas, get up here." she ordered. soon, she heard his soft footfalls on the deck.

"You rang?" he said. She smirked a little despite her irritation. His cocky sense of humor always seemed to amuse her.

"i'm having trouble recieving docking orders from some crotchety old nerf herder down there. think you can use some of your Jedi parlor tricks convince him to let us land?"

Lucas nodded and she made room for him at the console. She ruffled his hair endearingly. "Make it quick, im not sure how long we can stay stabilized." With that she went to check on the patient.

In her life, there were few moments when Firi had felt at peace. Under these circumstances, she had every reason to feel frightened, anxious, wary that her very existence hung in some sort of terrifyingly fragile balance. But, as she huddled with the enormous creature that enveloped her, ribs broken, bloody, pale and fragile though she was, she felt the warmth of peace surround her. She felt her heart swell, where only moments ago there had been nothing but hopelessness.

This beast was to be pitied, yes. but there was something else that surrounded her as they dangerous strangers caressed. a connection was forging more quickly than she'd ever experienced. she knew that above, days were passing unheaded by those in the dark abyss of the underworld. suns rose and fell, nights were deep and cool, and yet they sat, the two of them, and bonds were growing. They spoke from time to time, very little however, for the demon's words were mere accents to the powerful images he would send to her non-verbally. in him she saw worlds she'd never seen before, visions of life beyond what she'd always known. To her, they were strange and beautiful, to him they were terrifying, agonizing; she knew that his sharing them with her lessened that fear. Made them tangible.

She leaned her head against him, listening to the dull thud of his heartbeat.

"We could see them." she ventured to whisper into the dark.

He flinched. Not Possible... then, more tentatively How?

"a ship." she responded. "A fast ship. We could go to those places, see those things that appear in your mind. know them, understand them."

He was quiet. as if contemplating. ...you... and I...

She nodded. "Yes" His mind sent her an image, the bright blue of the sky above. a contented blue. "We two. we could be free of this place."

She knew it terrified him, but the idea of the two of them, newly discovered, strange kin, uncommon lovers of sorts, filled her heart with hope and happiness.

Yes he said at last. Together, you and I.

Vera Nico dropped from the ceiling of the audience chamber, her arms extended to slow her descent as her barabel accomplice matched her speed. Together they fell from above... as the horde howled, their anger and surprise shaking the chamber in a sudden fit. Vera closed her eyes, her fingers snapping to her breastplate. In unison, the charges ignited, sending the orb into a chaotic blender. Smoke engulfed the field as rock and chunks shot in all directions. One nicked her side, the pain notable, but received no reaction from her.

The gap between the wookiee and the barabel closed. Pulling ascension guns from their sides, they fired nearby. By instinct, the wookiee grabbed on, as did the lizard. "They're on." Two jetpacks roared to life, though considerably mute compared to the screams and disorientation that had surrounded them. Locking the guns into the jet pack, she moved the dial to maximum, hoping to compensate for the additional weight. Slowly, they accelerated and lifted off from their positions.

Vera carried the wookiee, as the barabels zoomed from behind them. The only way out, was back and through the caverns... Just before they were able to reach their ideal exit tunnel, a massive creature revealed itself. It's eyes were the size of hyperdrive engines, its claws large enough to wrap around her several times over. Whirling away from its clicking fingers, it roared in frustration.

Below them, demons scattered at the surge of fury released from their leader. "Sithspawn," Vera hissed, shooting into the eye of the creature, but a reflexive blink shielded the creature from any harm, the blast merely impacting the thick eyelid.

"Verrrra!" One of the barabels hissed, landing one one of the tunnel entry points, "Thisss way. We will finnnd another wayy." Landing in frustration, she tossed a blaster to the wookiee and said, "Make yourself useful, things are about to get real ugly."

A simple wave of the hand had failed, but an ample amount of face time seemed to do them some justice. "Just make it quick landin' then." Lucas figured Samm could take it from here and leaned back for a moment. It was his first real moment of rest since the night in Firi's hovel. It felt like months had passed...

"Braedan, we are going to need medical equipment as well. A doctor, if you can spare one..." the man over the comm channel complied, knowing that with the addition of two space-worthy vessels, inhabitants now had the chance to leave Iego, or, receive political, entertainment and other holonet updates. It had been over a year since the last appearance of survivors, let alone, intact computer systems.

Lucas was humbled for a moment, knowing that the hundreds, or thousands, of people that had come to live here, especially involuntarily, may even want to send letters or rescue pleas to governments. Anakin Solo was so far away, but this place held a time capsule of information. If someone had survived, completely isolated, from over a hundred years ago, their information was relatively uncontaminated. Military secrets, Jedi philosophy, perhaps even a few stories of dark Jedi...

Yes, without a doubt, Anakin would petition the Order to send something or someone to investigate, but Lucas would play a little to no part in a returning mission. "Davad, we have a team of medics standing by." Releasing the hatch, his hands touched his lightsaber as walked to greet them...

"Slow down, Jedi," Neo growled as he limped forward, leaning on his blaster rifle like a crutch. "You got a date?"

Lucas half-turned to glance at the commando, a small grin on his face. "Sorry, sergeant."

Neo's face burned behind his visor, but he forced the embarressment down. It's your own damn fault, he told himself as he followed the Jedi to the boarding ramp. General Baeton would have my ass if he'd seen that stunt with the demon. Crazy, cocky as hell screwup...

He grunted as another spike of pain shot through his chest, but when Lucas gave him a worried look he waved him off with his free hand. "Forget it."

"We can get more painkillers from the locals, if you need-"

"I said forget it," Neo retorted, switching to his no-nonsense drill sergeant tone. He hobbled past Lucas and started down the loading ramp into the morning sun. "Save'm for later."

He could see that the pilot had put the ship down in a makeshift docking pit constructed out of sheet metal and durasteel scraps. It almost resembled some sort of odd mosaic, with a riot of conflicting rust spots and gray welds competing for space. As Neo and Lucas reached the bottom of the ramp, one of the sheets slid to the side, revealing a man in ragged workman's coveralls and a fuel-stained bantha-hide vest. His skin had been darkened from years of exposure to the harsh sun, and his mouth was all but invisible behind several years' worth of beard growth.

He stepped forward, casting an interested glance at the newcomers' ship before holding out one hand to Lucas. "Welcome to Cliffport," he drawled in a deep voice.

"Thank you," Lucas dipped his head, and immediately started, "I am Lucas Pallanén-Davad, citizen of Kuat and member of the New Jedi Order under Luke Skywalker. One of our passengers, Jonas Eisley, is a resident here, and requires immediate medical attention. Internal damages, and..."

His train of thought drifted as Tseneca emerged... even without a sonic shower for days, she was breathtakingly gorgeous. Lucas gave her a smile, and so did their Cliffhold-greeter, before several hangar aides rushed to attend Jonas (who was only half supported). And judging by the frantic movements of one of the members, it would appear they had known each other.

"Joe! Joe!" she had shouted, slapping him slightly, before Tseneca had caught her hand.

"He's fine, just needs a doctor. " Lucas mentioned tenderly, finally catching the woman's eye. She was about an inch shorter, long blonde hair, and beautiful blue eyes. Her figure was well maintained, something of a runner or a swimmer physique. Her voice was sharp and held an authoritative tone, "What happened to him!"

"Long story-" Lucas started, his voice slightly annoyed that Jonas remained their first topic, "What is your name?"

"Celelia."

"Beautiful. I'm Lucas, by the way."

"Lucas Bytheway?"

Lucas released a playful laugh, before nabbing her shoulder with a playful flick of his hand. "Pallanén-Davad, actually." He let the fact that his parents owned KDY slip, but he'd reintroduce the fact later, when he needed an advantage. So far, judging by the Force, he was doing rather well. "If I hadn't crashed here, I would have sworn you were an angel."

She blushed, her hand grazing his shoulders, before skimming across the side of his biceps, which he had flexed just seconds before. "Any ways, thanks for letting us dock..."

"Any time, Lucas. You can dock anytime you'd like." With a sweet smile and a wink, she departed, following the medical hover bed that Jonas was perched ontop of. Turning to the crew, Lucas couldn't help but release a sigh.

With the preferred exit blown to bits, Vera pulled out the transceiver and sent a backup signal to Cade and her droid starfighters... without knowing which exit they'd pop out of, having a ship in each of the general areas would help.

Running down a corridor, Vera was shocked to find a lone demon and what appeared to be a glamorous victim.

Firi'Taknik was about to meet one of the galaxy's most renowned political terrorists...

Neo shook his head. Half his squad was missing, the Eisley kid was injured, Nico was still at large…and the Jedi was flirting?

He limped beside the boy, still leaning heavily on his rifle like a walking stick. “If you’re done flirting, saber-jockey, why don’t you get the rest of the survivors together?” Neo jerked his head back at the ship’s loading ramp. “I’ll have one of my men go with the kid, if it’ll make you feel better, but we need to concentrate on finding out where those animals took the rest of my team.”

Lucas looked at him with a frown. “Sergeant, I know you’re dedicated to your men, but how do we even know they’re still alive? It’s been hours since the attack–”

“All the more reason we need to get going ASAP,” Neo replied. “Besides, why would the creatures bother taking prisoners unless they needed them alive?”

“Even assuming they’re alive, how are we supposed to find them?”

Neo reached up with one hand and slipped off his helmet. “Here.” Lucas looked at it, confused, before Neo rolled his eyes. “Put it on.”

The Jedi slipped the battered helmet on and saw a small terrain mapper in the top right corner of the visor’s HUD. Two blue blips were blinking steadily several kilometers to the east, and at least four hundred meters below the surface. A pair of small monitors showed two elevated but otherwise normal heart rates. The dots were separated by a few meters of rock, but were still within each other’s comm range.

Lucas handed the helmet back to Neo and took a deep breath. “All right,” he asked. “What’s your plan?”

Neo nodded back to the ship. “Get everyone together. We’ll organize on the ship.”

It had been three hours when Jonas finally came-to. His head was spinning as Lucas chimed with some dumb ass remark. "What the hell happened?"

"Not really important, just some terrible flying by SAMM." Lucas teased the ship's artificial computer. Did he have something to do with it?" Lucas seemed to sense his thought, and instantly added, "Wasn't me. Honestly!"

Jonas forced himself to sit up, despite the medical droid's banter about not moving. "I'm fine," A large pain pulsed upwards and into his shoulders, "I think."

A hand plopped on his shoulder, at the most sensitive spot, causing him to cringe and open his mouth in muted agony. "Oh, sorry." Lucas muttered, with a more serious tone, "Maybe you should sit this one out..."

"What one?"

"We're rescuing the captured." Lucas grinned, "Sarge has a plan. You might slow us down though..."

Lucas patted his shoulder again, only this time, Jonas gritted his teeth and took to his feet. "No, I'm coming with you."

"Good. Meet us in the hangar bay, we are trying to get out just before dawn. Few of the cityfolk around here seem to think thats the best way to go..."

Lucas hummed to himself while walking away. The medical droid spun around, though his expression was manufactured into place, its automated tone had stressed nearly volatile disagreement. "You require forty-eight hours of rest, Mr. Eisley, perhaps I should sedate you."

With a double hop, Jonas was out of the medic's door and off towards the shuttle bay.

Lucas hummed the imperial theme as he entered the hangar bay, everyone had been assembled, with the exception of Tseneca. He had wondered what was keeping her, but before he made any progress in thought, the Sarge had cleared his throat for attention.

"I'm in," Jonas interrupted, and took his spot diagonally.

"Good to hear, but none of us really know what 'in' is..." Lucas injected, and threw the Imperial a glance. "The Blight Leaper will be ready for space travel in six hours..." It was a nice piece of information... immediately following the rescue operation, they would be getting off this piece of rock...

A demon was cradling a beautiful creature, something that looked as if it were half angel and half human. An inbred of its species, and by the looks of the demon, they were both outcasts. The lizardman slithered nearby, the green scaled warrior taking point, as they raised their blasters. The wookiee cawed in protest, but it was still dazed from massive blood loss, to really put up any kind of fight.

The demon sounded a triumphant roar as it stormed towards them, tossing the first barabel to the side like a ragdoll. The wookiee catered to its blow, flopping over like a pathetic bantha. Vera stared down the creature, her fingers loose around the blaster, as it charged.

"You are a powerful creature, and courageous." Vera taunted, sliding out of the charge. It hissed, spat and roared again before rounding towards her for a second time. With the explosive cartridge loaded, she took aim and fired.

A mangle of blood and brains splattered across the room as the evil creature fell to it's knees. The headless bounty sent the angel into a fit. It's fury was beautiful, yet unbelievably terrifying. To see such beauty submit to rage, brought discomfort throughout Vera's body. Pulling the second weapon from her side, she shot the woman, sending the angel into a dreamless state.

Why were the eyes lit with such rage?

Kicking a chunk of flesh from her shoe, Vera and the barabels exited the pocket-cave. The signal flashed red, but her vessel was not in sight...

The Star Raptor glided over Iego's terrain, the fear of demon hordes and creatures of the night vanished from their thoughts, yet dread lingered within their souls. The demon lair rested before them as Selanno guided the ship through the maze of tunnels. Coral stared at her console, calling out the upcoming turns before they were even visible.

"It's weird...we haven't spotted a single one of them..." the boy Jedi whispered, his eyes closed. She ignored him, but underneath her cool composure, he was right.

Something was wrong.

The air was stale, the onboard filters damaged, the system deemed unworthy of repair time. He breathed deep, sucking what oxygen he could, and breathed back out. It was a terrible stench, everyone covered in sweat, blood and anxiety pulsed through all of them.

Jonas was stationed in the back with the Imperials, all of them poised in position, ready to deploy and secure their comrades. Jonas held on to the fact that soon, after the confrontation with the demon horde, he would be drinking Corellian ale, bathed by Outer Rim-dressed "slave" girls. He would breathe the cool air on Naboo, and swim in oceans of Sol. He'd be anywhere, but here, on this forsaken planet.

Something scratched against the hull, but it wasn't the demon nor some ghoulish creature, just the tight formation of the tunnels as they rapidly skimmed by.

"One false move by the pilot, and go crashing into a wall, we will!" one of the flinched Imperials let out a breath, his face blue as though he had been holding it too long. Jonas tensed up... the eerie silence of it all.

The Star Raptor slowly crept through the caverns, meter by meter.

Daegon sat in the cockpit, his hands clenched on the pilot's yoke so hard his knucles were white. Next to him, Coral occupied the copilot's chair, her eyes glued to the holocharts as she sent out sensor pings ahead of them. "Left turn in sixty seconds," she said. Daegon watched the meters scroll down, then gently eased the side of the ship over so that it could slip into a crevice in the wall. Behind him, the Jedi inhaled slightly as the wall came unnervingly close to the viewscreen, but Daegon kept the ship from colliding and leveled out with the cave.

Sarkk, the Imperial squad leader, stood up with a grunt of pain. "I'll check on the others," he said before heading aft towards the port cargo bay. Daegon paid him no attention. Jedi, spooks, and Imps on my ship at once...Fenris and Booster'll die if they ever hears of this...

They continued through the catacombs for nearly an hour, stopping every fifteen minutes or so to allow Daegon time to rest. Daegon's hands were beginning to cramp by the time Coral said, "Last turn ahead. Right in twenty, then down thirty degrees and head straight."

Daegon maneuvered the Rator into position and slid neatly into the gap between a pair of stalagtites-or were they stalagmites?-and brought the ship to a stop. He looked around, but there didn't seem to be anything special about this particular junction.

Then Coral activated the ship's running lights.

Pockmarking the surface of the tunnel were dozens of smaller warrens and holes. Each of them were about two meters in diameter and were glossy-smooth, unlike the rough rock walls of the cavern. Daegon stared in awed silence as Sarkk entered the cockpit. "Are we there...frak me..."

Coral paid the spectacle no attention as she began sending out sensor pings. One of them returned with an affirmative beep, and she narrowed the sensors onto a single tunnel. "Looks like that's the one, Sergeant. No side passages I can detect, and from the location of your beacons it shouldn't have any twists or turns."

Daegon stood and locked down the ship's controls. "All right, kill the lights except for the one over that passage. C'mon, Jedi, let's move."

Coral and Lucas looked up at him in confusion. "Where are you going?"

"Where do you think?" Daegon replied as he strapped a second holster to his thigh and slipped a heavy blaster into it. This was followed by a bandolier of slugs and power packs over each shoulder, plus a pair of thermal detonators at his belt. "To find my copilot."

He strode out of the cockpit, his duster flapping as he slid it over his clothes. Kaor wordlessly stepped up next to him and cocked his slugthrower, giving Daegon a reassuring nod. "The Imperials are good hunters," the Kaleesh said. "This should be entertaining."

"We're here to get Mal back," Daegon reminded him firmly.

"Of course," Kaor replied. "I simply hope you will not mind if I acquire a new...trophy, while we are down there."

"Long as you do it after we find my copilot." He slapped the hatch release, and with a groan of complaint the loading elevator rumbled open and began dropping with the two of them on it. The Jedi dropped down as well, landing so softly his boots didn't even ring on the metal. There was a snap-hiss as he activated his lightsaber, casting a low, eerie blue light over everything. Daegon drew his slugthrower and activated the glowrod snapped to it, sweeping the tunnel as they stopped. Nothing.

He glanced up into the bay and waved before steping off onto the ground. Behind him, three ziplines dropped down and the three commandos followed, their spotlamps piercing the darkness and their blaster rifles scanning the room. "Clear," one of them said.

"Clear."

"Let's move," Daegon and Sarkk said at the same time. They gave each other a quick look of confusion before the five of them made their way over to the shaft.

The signature hiss of a lightsaber echoed off the chambers, yet only the barabels stirred and growled. "What is it?" Vera questioned them, which they quickly explained. Her eyes narrowed towards the dark void between the two groups. "Frak." The angel was one of the lightest creatures Vera had encountered, but they wouldn't be able to snake around them without crossing into demon scavenge parties.

"We just stirred the horde, I doubt they'll get very far before being overrun. We just have to make sure it's them and not us. I am shutting off our beacon... we'll reactivate it once we are outside... then blast the openings." Six hours earlier, Vera had visited Cliffhold, and bargained for three essential starship pieces... in exchange, she was supposed to close the caves.

Vera cursed in her native tongue, using a bantha-herding prod to get the wookiee to move forward. "Don't make a sound." The wookiee's life meant nothing, but Vera wasn't entirely cold-hearted. She would save him, as long as he followed directions. Plus he'd make a nice demon-snack and buffer against an ambush, not to mention the bargaining potential should we fail to evade the Jedi and his comrades.

The caverns were damp, water drops amplified several times over. Coral dropped from the Star Raptor, trying to stay as close to the starship's dim light as possible. She would never admit to it, but she was terrified of the dark. "Selanno, take a look at this..." a beacon had been flashing, perhaps Mal had one. "The walls were too thick for us to detect it outside-"

The dot had vanished from the display screen. "It's gone-"

"What happened?" Lucas inquired, disturbed by her obvious expression.

"There was a homing beacon, but now its gone. Either someone turned it off, or-"

"They're dead." Jonas finished her thought, all of their eyes tracing back to Selanno. "What do you want to do?"

"They are alive, I know it." Lucas injected, "I couldn't sense it before, but... I can't explain. Someone is alive."

Coral crossed her arms, "I'm not one to abandon anybody, but their chances for survival are thin. It would be a miracle..." She stopped, fearing she had heard something, she opened her mouth to speak again, and that's when it charged. It was a demon, it was something bigger...darker... all she could do was scream...

Tseneca felt as though she had be caught day dreaming. It was Iego heat that was doing it, leaving her lethargic and numb. She crouched in the lower part of the ship. avoiding Lucas and Jonas. Just how had she gotten into this?

Snap out of it Tseneca

"I know, I know" She twisted another cupling into place and sat back on her heals. "I just have a bad feeling about this."

She turned as footfalls echoed in the corridor. She knew it was lucas without even looking...

They sat together for a long while the demon and her, the connection they shared glowng feverously. He wanted to leave with her and the more she pondered it, the more she wanted to. They would find a better place. a new home where they could live and speak in their strange way. one where they could feel not like the outcasts they were but like those who belonged.

Aquar held her and she slept, safe in time with the beating of his heart. He made low rumbling noises that told her he was asleep too. they stayed that way for what felt like an eternity.

then, as if their world was not enough to hold them, it ripped apart. Noises came, the sound of machines and weapons. Aquar lept to his feet, toppling firi over in swift movements. He let out a shriek, his muscles tensing and teeth barred out of his jaw. his retracted claws rose with sharp ferocity and she could feel his mind make form only one thought.

Protect.

she reached out, struggling to help him, trying to find her voice, but nothing came. The fight was short. Aquar leapt at the monstrous machines at their leader, a lithe female human. he leapt at the guns even as they fired. Aquar parried them, using his fearsome body as a more powerful weapon. But the woman. She aimed her weapon at the beast and fired.

Firi screamed as gore bathed her, as she watched the demon get destoyed, as she felt his mind disintigrate, its wayward thoughts flare out and die like snuffed fire. She shivered as, in the sudden absence, the connection broke and she grew cold.

Her eyes found the eyes of the one she knew from the others speaking as Vera Nico. her mind blazed with an unlikely rage. a powerful, horrible, deadly rage. She bored her eyes into the woman's, humming, raising her voice and wailing like a siren. Her people were capeable of such wrath, and so was she...

Then she was silenced, a blaster bolt cutting through her vision and sending her to darkness...

It happened in a slow sequences of events.

Selanno's blaster was the first to go off...Jonas was attacked... Vera Nico appeared, Firi and Coral were captured...

***
Just moments earlier...

"They are alive, I know it." Lucas injected, "I couldn't sense it before, but... I can't explain. Someone is alive." He could feel them, their presence was so strong now, so vivid. It was as though he was blinded by darkness, and then suddenly, he was staring straight into the sun. He could almost feel what they were feeling.

Rage. Anger. Defense. Protection. All of it flashed into him. His lightsaber felt weak in his hands, as the demon brutes appeared. They were massive, larger than the typical horde. They were dormant protectors, bred by some monster to be protectors of the hive. They hissed as Selanno's blaster rang out the first bolt. It hissed across the chamber, lighting up small spider creatures across the cave flooring.

As the clamber erupted, the arachnids scurried out of the fray, rushing deep into their own homes. The Imperials, fully locked and loaded, shot with everything they had. Powerful charges knocked one of the brutes, flipping him entirely, before it landed. One of the Imps stood over the creature, and shot repeatedly with his blaster, until satisfied the creature would never rise again.

Neo shouted for Lucas to participate, to pull it together, but something else was occupying his mind.

Vera Nico was close, so close. She was rounding the corner.

"NICO!" Lucas shouted out, but was mute compared to charging brute. It snarled and slashed as it was inches from him. Just as the fatal claw was about to make contact, Jonas shoved him to the ground, and took the blunt force of the impact. His flesh ripped from his side, as his rib cage became slightly exposed. He didn't move.

Sarkk jumped onto the back of the creature, using his hands and all of his upper body strength to twist the creature's neck into a sharp hiss. On the other side of the cave, Coral screamed into agony as one of the creatures hoisted her off the ground and into its arms. She smacked its chest and beat its face, but nothing would stop it. Sarkk charged, racing for the republic girl, but was cut off by the emergence of Nico and the wookiee.

She kicked the wookiee to the ground, unleashing a deadly voltage of blaster fire across the caverns. Anyone left standing would've been dead, had the darkness not masked their positions. Two barabels slithered from behind her as she covered them with blaster fire. Sarkk must've landed on his wrist, as he tweaked it back into place... he was reaching for his blaster when Nico shot at the rock just inches above his fingers.

On the second barabel, Firi was there. Limp in his arms. "FIRI!" Redemption crept into his heart... if he could save her, here and now! "STOP HER!" He bellowed across the chamber, but Vera must've released somekind of masking-gas to shield her from the Imperials. He rose to his feet, but a vision struck him, stopping him entirely.

Tseneca was laughing at the helm, as SAMM retorted something. Lucas was there, as was Jonas. They were all happy. Her fingers rested on the hyperspace control pad, "Seeya Sarkk, May the Force be with you." And as she pressed downwards, believing to jump to hyperspace, the Blight Leaper ignited, and sent them all into oblivion.

Shaking, Lucas was released from the future. His eyes met Sarkk's. "Get Coral, I'll take on Nico." Lucas told the Imperial, afterall, this was personal. Lucas didn't need a visor or HED display to light the way, the Force guided his footsteps. He could hear Nico in the distance, he could sense her fear and confusion. He traced faster, knowing that a ship would be waiting for her on the outside.

Lucas jumped across a cave split, saving him minutes of precious time as he climbed a steep edge and towards a splinter of light. Nico had found an opening. Slipping through, he ignited his lightsaber...

"God damn it, Jedi!" She screamed, unleashing a volley of blaster fire. His lightsaber deflected the majority, with a minor scraping pass his clothing. Vera's heart raced as the starships were no where in sight. She let out a scream of fury as she raced towards him. The barabels tossed the angel onto the floor, as they charged. Lucas deactivated his lightsaber, either in pity or pride, his fist meeting the first barabel's jaw. It fell backwards, obviously the boy had used a boost of the Force.

The second snarled as the Jedi tossed him aside, once again, the Force was involved. As the boy turned to face her, it was too late to collect the patience and the serenity of a clear mind. She was ontop of him, clawing at him with her bare hands. Her fingernails dug into his flesh, as she elbowed and kneed. She hated him, everything about him. His name, his apprenticeship, his beliefs, his birthright... all of it.

"I'll kill you," she breathed between the rage of her knuckles, now cracked and bleeding, "I'll slit your throat." Her fingernails chipped and slashed at his throat as he used the Force to toss her across the top of the caves. Vera grabbed the nearest rock and hurled it towards him, but it paused mid air and flung back at her. Then she heard it.

Ion drives and droid starfighters, modified by her own hands, raced towards them.

"You can either take the angel, and run for cover, or die with her. Your choice..."

"Frak you, Vera."

"Maybe under different circumstances, but not today." She edged towards the cliff and, "Good-bye, Lucas. May the Force be with you." A lethal grin, as she back-flipped off the edge, and to what he could see, as a fatal fall into Iego's underworld.

Her heels met the hull of her vessel's ramp. It slowly rose, the dramatic revelation, that she would live and fight another day. She walked inside and took the helm, waiting for the barabels to crawl aboard. Lucas lifted the angel into his arms, the droid starfighters unleashing their laser cannons... the boy had just barely jumped into rock splinter.

Together, the triad vessels shot upwards. Their hull burned against Iego's dense atmosphere, her fingers shaking to keep hold of the control stick. Finally, the blanket of darkness and stars laid before them. As she exited the gravity well of the planet, they punched into hyperspace.

Vera Nico and her droid protectors have left the system.

hours had passed. Tseneca was deeply entranced with fixing the ship. every so often she'd hear a tinking and wonder if anyone was coming down the corridor. it always turned out to be no-one. She'd spent so long alone on this ship. why now had she become so paranoid, so needy? it was an odd feeling, this. and she realized, now, that she needed Lucas. She had a friend in the kid, and as much as this was hard to come to grips with, it warmed her inside. It reminded her of another time. a better time.

Tseneca...

"sorry, sorry" She kept at the harddrive. But what would happen after she took Lucas back to Kuat? She'd leave again, that was the plan right? She had to keep looking for Emmett. She had to.

he's not there. he's gone.

She threw the multi-tool down, angry at her own betraying thoughts. he had to be. HAD to. but what if he wasn't.

She looked at her palms. scratched from working. sore. dirty. Lucas was real. He may never replace the family she'd once had. certainly not her lover, of course. but he was there. He was the closest thing in years she could ever call a friend.

she heard a tinking. wait, there really was someone coming...

Her head clambered against the back of the beast, warm goo slipping through her hair and splashing behind them. She had been smacked hard, really bad. Understanding that her blood must've stung the brute's nostrils with a furious lust of hunger, Coral was afraid she wouldn't make it to the ritual... he'd sprawl her out on a few rocks, and dive into her raw flesh. It would be slow and painful as he chewed on her organs...

All Seven Hells damn them... she thought, spitting a loose tooth from her gums, From intelligence computer screens to hell itself... I'll be damned then... "Frak you!" she leaned upwards slamming her fingers into the creature's eye. It shook with unbelievable pain, dropping to the ground as it released a terrible screech. The orb was soft in her fingers, sliding beneath her fingernails. She took its blade, it was made from something she had never seen before, probably from a body-part-turned-tool that was lethal to their kin; better protection against their bloodthirsty brothern. Placing it below its bellowing moans, she jumped onto the hilt. It hit the rock below, and the creature stirred no more. Rising from the brute, she spat on its face.

Suddenly, as though from a blockbuster holo-horror, it twitched and screamed in agony. It's nostrils sucked air into starved lungs, as it pulled the blade from its throat, in a slow and excruciating manner.

Coral ran. Knowing that life now existed on whether or not the beast would be able to track with pure scent, not knowing if the bleeding throat would slow its crazed state. She traced her own blood-drops, passing the tooth and into a narrow maze of caves.

"She couldn't have gone far-" a voice ahead said, and another much closer as she tread against the caverns, "Do you hear something?"

She tumbled inside, all of their eyes looking relieved. "We need to go... now." The demon brute emerged, hissing and spitting. It's hands wide open as blood poured from its neck and eyes. "Holy shit!" Lucas exclaimed, shocked as much as the next person. He laid the angel down, and chopped the demon in half... then again.

The Republic captain, Coral's superior, embraced her. Taking her arm over his shoulder as he guided her towards the Star Raptor. "Selanno, carry Firi. I'll take Jonas, we need to move." The caves vibrated as though the planet shook from some sort of quake, but the thousands of distant roars became apparent that it was something much worse. "GO!" An Imperial shouted, and all of them raced against the advancing horde.

Leaping onto the ramp of the Star Raptor, one by one, they made it to safety. Lucas used the Force to power the energy needed to lift him and Jonas inside. He laid the boy down, taking care to his wounded side. The ship rocked... just barely, but it was enough to know the creatures were crawling about on the hull.

"Hold on..." Selanno had called out, punching it through the narrow caves. Memory served him well as he swooped through the corridors. Closing his eyes, Lucas focused on what demons remained, and one by one, pushed them off with a strong nudge of the Force.

Twilight skies shown out of the small viewport, triumphant hoots and laughs erupted.

"We made it." Someone said, but it was a dark reminder, "We're not out of the woods yet." And he was right.... the faster they were off this planet, the better. Jonas stirred, as Lucas lifted his head into his lap.

"Wha-"

"What the hell?" Jonas shook, his body temperature well below what it should've been. "How-"

"I'll explain later, just need to patch up your side here..." What was he talking about? Jonas moved, and had felt fine... then it had hit him, a sharp pain across his entire body, and he couldn't move without setting it off again.

"Frrrrrrrakkkkk." Jonas breathed, gasping in between the spurts of pain.

Coral rang out, "Cliffhold ahead." It was all too much, and it wouldn't stop.

He passed out.

"We need to transfer you to the Blight Leaper, we are jumping tonight. We're going to Kuat... the best medical doctors will be able to assist you. I promise." Lucas was telling him, but he only understood a fraction of it.

Tseneca felt danger. she shivered and hoisted her blaster, heading down the corridor toward the already lowering gangplank.

"What the--" The star raptor sent dust flying as it came to a landing feet from the leaper. Their ramp opened and Lucas strode out. half carrying, half dragging Jonas toward the ship. Sallano hunkered forward, carrying an unconsious Firi in his arms. "What happened?"

"Are the repairs done?" Lucas wen past her, pulling Jonas along with him. the disabled young man was making garbled noises.

"Yeah, but what about Nico..." Tseneca couldn't make up her mind what to say, things were hapening so quickly. Lucas ordered Selanno to take Firi to sick bay. "Wait, wait wait. Lucas, we cant bring them with us."

"Why not? they're hurt."

"They belong here! this is their home!"

"We dont have a choice." Lucas fixed her with such a look, she shuddered in discomfort.

Tseneca looked at Jonas who lay bleeding on the medic bed. Firi was so out of it, she wondered if the angel might be dead. He was right, they didn't have a choice.

"I hope you know what your doing Jedi boy." gritting her teeth she headed toward the cockpit. "SAMM prepare to take off, lets get the frak off this miserable rock." she looked over her shoulder back at Lucus, who was dutifully gazing over the injured. "Well, what are you waiting for." She called back. "I need you up here!"

The Blight Leaper is finally.... FINALLY... off of Iego. next blight leaper post should take place on the ship please....
