Rain drizzled lightly on the apartment’s window. It was early in the morning, and large clouds, turned a murky color by pollution, covered the sky. James watched the city wake out of the water-covered window of his upper level flat with a distant eye. He was well dressed today. A fine coat, white shirt, hat and tie. Professional. For that’s what he was. A professional.

Off to his left, he heard a knock. Through the wet glass he could see two black silhouettes, standing on the apartments speeder port. He opened the door, gave the men a knowing smile, and extended a gloved hand. They shook, and turned towards the black enclosed, sophisticated speeder in the port.

His associates entered the speeder after him, Taylor Abagnale taking the wheel and Kal Doyle the seat behind him. As Taylor started the speeder and flipped on the windshield de-moisturizer, Kal passed James his T-40 Handheld Repeater and two clips. James pushed the first clip into the blaster and pulled back action, activating the weapon. The repeater emitted a high frequency tone as it warmed itself up.
“Alright, so our two boys in the space port just confirmed defenses. The transport skiff’s got pretty thick armor in the cab and storage area, but these T-40s should do the trick. They’ve got a mounted repeater on the back, a step up from last time, but it can’t turn around far enough to hit anything off their sides, so it might as well not be there. I just talked to Charlie, and they’re in their speeder waiting to get sight of them on 3118th.”

James straightened his hat.

“Sounds like we’re in business. Set her down across the street from Wade’s and listen for Charlie. Timing’s everything here.”
The speeder banked down through the lanes of traffic, and down to the street level café.

Clare and Badim walked the pristine streets of Coruscant together, gazing at the skyline. It reminded him of Nar Shaddaa, but a cleaner and brighter version of it. Clare wrapped her arms around his, leaning her head against his shoulder as they paced the large, near endless street. He took his eyes off the street for just a moment as a breeze came through, brushing and caressing Clare’s hair aside. It took that split second for Badim to be nearly thrown to the ground as he was bumped into.
The neimoidian stopped in his tracks and helped Clare bring Badim up to his feet, “My apologies, sir!” he let out, hoping for forgiveness. Badim stood up and brushed a little dirt off his shoulders, “Not a problem.” he replied, “It happens--” he stopped as he opened his eyes, recognizing the neimoidian, “Dorniekke?”

Dorniekke’s eyes opened wide as he realized who he’d bumped into, “Are you following me, Badim?” he asked jokingly. The last time they both saw each other was in the small café on Denon just a day or two ago.
“Nope, just taking a trip. Just now realizing how small the galaxy really is.”

“As am I!” Dorn exclaimed in surprise as he joined Clare and Badim in their walk on Coruscant.

Clare bumped Badim slightly to get his attention. Suddenly it clicked in his head, “Oh, Dorn. I’d like to introduce you to Clare Velez.” he said as he gestured to her.

“A pleasure to meet one of serdadu’s friends.” Dorn replied, though as soon as Clare wrapped her arms around Badim’s again, he quickly restated, “A pleasure to meet serdadu’s friend.”

“How did you two meet?” Clare quickly asked.

Badim thought back to his time in Dirod’s service, his only real friend being Dorniekke. Dorn was a mechanic for Dirod’s numerous luxury speeders. He also maintained Badim’s personal speeder for his assassinations. Several months after Badim’s release of Sara, one of Dirod’s speeders malfunctioned and exploded shortly after he exited it. Seeing as how the mechanic was the only one in contact with it besides himself, he took it as an assassination attempt and sent Badim to kill him.

Knowing it was either an accident or another assault from Candrog’s assassins, he helped Dorn get off planet.
“We’re good friends from our service with Dirod,” he hushed Dirod’s name while they were in public, “He was a mechanic for his speeders, until one of them blew up. Dirod sent me after Dorn thinking it was an assassination attempt. Of course, this was after I let Sara go, so I helped get Dorn of the planet.”

Clare shrugged, “Yeah… Sorry about that, Dorn.” she said as she looked at Dorn with apologetic eyes.

“Badim? Clare isn’t…?”

Badim laughed, then said, “Yeah, she was one of Candrog’s assassins…” he looked at her for a moment, then seeing the uneasiness of Dorniekke, he continued with a smile, “But not anymore.”

Clare smiled at Badim as Dorniekke tried to make sense of the situation between the two, coming up with a simply, yet altered metaphor of Boy meets Girl, where Boy and Girl were both altered to assassin. It was amusing how it seemed to fit what had happened between the two. “Seems like it.” she replied.

“Oh! Badim, I have information for you.” Dorn spoke out as he patted his head, trying to remember what was in his thoughts. Badim turned, half-eager to hear it, half-worried it was Dirod related. The neimoidian continued to pat his head as he brought the memory up from seclusion.

“Ah, does a Jaxor Soilding mean anything to you?” Badim froze, she knew for a fact that he wasn’t doing anything but wondering about the other Soilding.

He shook his head after a moment, “…No, it doesn’t,” he paused, his eyes darting as he imagined something, then continued, “Where is he? How‘d you come across this information?”

This could be the hope Badim was searching for, she understood that his birth parents was a mystery that had yet to be solved, and this was as close as he was going to get to finding them.
“He and his wife are living their golden years on Taris. I’m not exactly sure where they are there, but it’s a start.”

Golden Years was a term Badim didn’t want to hear, they would be too old to be Badim’s parents, but it was a start. She watched him as he closed his eyes, they both knew Tseneca wouldn’t be up for shooting around the galaxy in what could be a fruitless chase, so it was conflicting for Badim. She took his hand as he gripped it tightly, then she took the reigns, “Do you know how we can get there, Dorn?”

“Ah, you may come on my ship, The Dancing Remedy a large and beautiful Barloz-class freighter that I bought with the help of Badim to get off the planet.”

Badim kept quiet, collecting his thoughts. It seemed like it was a path he wanted to explore, but didn’t know how he’d handle his possible abandoners. She could feel his heart pulsing as he thought about how he was left there on Nar Shaddaa that fateful night. What would he do? What would he say to his parents? Hi, I’m your long lost son, oh, I wanna know why you left me alone in a dumpster, was a situation that might surely come up. She almost thought he was going to let it go and stay with the Leaper, when he finally spoke: “When can we leave?”

The news that he could find his birth parents was fairly unsettling for Badim, the fact that he would possibly be meeting with his abandoners was almost too much for him to bare. But he had to know. Something nagged at him that he should go, but another pulled him to stay and leave it. He had a new life now with Clare and his friends, but his past was a mystery that continued to bother him. He had pushed away any thought of a parent figure for him now that Breena and Jaalib were dead. They were his adopted parents, the only he had known. But he just had to know at least why he was abandoned.
“When can we leave?”

Clare looked at him, trying to scan his eyes, but his gaze didn’t detour from Dorniekke as he replied, “It will be a while, serdadu. Several hours at the most while it goes through it’s scheduled maintenance and refuels,” Dorn handed Badim a comlink and continued, “Here, take this. I’ll contact you when the Remedy is ready.”

Badim nodded and left with Clare back to the Leaper, they’d need to pack.

Lucas was barely out of the Indigo Tower Restaurant when a pair of New Republic officers approached him. A Jedi that he had recognized from the Temple was in tow, his eyes met briefly with Lucas, before disappearing behind him; his mind was clearly elsewhere for the time being. "Lucas Pallanén-Davad?" The Kuati stopped, wondering what his options were at this point. Was it related to Anakin? Was the chip reported stolen, or maybe, some kind of security feature caught him in the process? Lucas nodded, trying to sense something from their Jedi companion. "You should come with us."

"All right." It was all he could offer them. He couldn't tell, just sensed it was urgent. A government speeder rolled around, and he was helped into the backseat. Not exactly improving the trail of thought, the odds they were onto him kept getting worse. "We have uncovered very disturbing evidence. It has to do with a transmission..." Lucas could feel his insides squirm. Why did Anakin have to go to the government? He could've asked about it first...

It didn't matter, it was all over now. The Jedi across from him didn't look much older, could he really be a Master sent by the council to arrest him? Lucas breathed deep, the other-Jedi cleared his throat, but the government agent continued to speak, "...about one of our agents. Her name is Coral Callatros. You were tasked almost two months ago to locate and detain Vera Nico, and judging by your reports to the Jedi Temple, you came damn near close to achieving that."

Lucas felt relieved. It was about Nico, not the data disc he had stolen from Anakin's quarters. "Yes, what about it?"

"She could be dead, we are not sure. Here is the message we received...

Quote:
The body of New Republic Intelligence officer, Coral Collatros, can be found at 2341-424 Dallpha Apartment Complex NorthSide, Atzerri. - V.N.

"As you can see, it is considerably vague. Our agents are swamped with intelligence revolving Zend and her latest atrocities, and with the given circumstances, you remain one of the best agents on the planet to deal with this particular situation. I have received permission from Master Solo, you're cleared to leave."

"When?" Lucas was slightly annoyed Anakin didn't check with him.

"He is waiting for you, we are en route now." Lucas sighed, so much for a family breakfast in the morning. "And where are we going?"

"Atzerri."

"Great. The natives are freaks." He hissed, he didn't really feel the need to control his emotions, not at this point. He was under their control, no choice in the matter.

"That withstanding, we ask that you proceed with caution. There is...another matter." The agent seemed to fidget with much more concern.

"Brutus," It was the first time the second agent spoke, catching even the mysterious Jedi off guard. "Save it for when he returns." The speeder came to a stop, and in the distance, he could see Anakin firing up the thrusters of a Republic shuttle. "Good luck boy, return with our agent. May the Force be with you." It was the Jedi that spoke the last words. Lucas was curious as to why they had another member of the Order as part of the escort.

"Thank you," Lucas strolled out of the speeder, and almost instantly, it shot back into the sky. That was weird. He approached Anakin, "Thanks for the heads up." He growled and took the co-pilot seat...

Lucas Pallanén-Davad is now on Atzerri
