The Prelude to War.

Officers of the True Empire readied their battle stations, all systems gave the green light. Grand Admiral Zend had checked in, giving them a glorious send off. "Commander, the Austere and her satellite vessels are reporting in." One her officers announced, his fingers racing over the consoles. The preparation to battle kept all of them at peek efficiency. Her boots cleared the plank, standing before the specs of stars. She breathed the air, recycled as it was, she could feel the burning passion beneath the men around her. She could sense the dogs of war beneath their uniforms.

"Commend Admiral Harrison, and open a channel to the fleet." Krauss said, her voice low, calculating. Finally, the ensign nodded his head, her voice was live, so all officers could hear her. "It is our time. It is our time to please the Grand Admiral, to correct things in the galaxy we so long ago left behind. Feel the emotion. Use it. You've built, and conditioned for this. If the traitors take your ship, by turbolaser fire, your lives will not be lost in vain. They will be honorable deaths. Should you be boarded, and those traitors dare attempt to step foot on our vessels, slaughter them."

She paused, letting the words sink into the fleet. "We go to war, gentlemen. We go to war to restore the Galactic Empire." She twisted to face the pilots, and her exact command, the entire Imperial fleet jumped. The blue ream of hyperspace overtook them, the soft colors passing over the hulls in a temporary peace, before it disappeared. Muunilinst was an easy target, a single planetary orb, with a pair of golan stations.

Bilbringi. An asteroid field nightmare, with debris fields. The fleet came into a perfectly calculated position, long researched by their spies. Krauss was one of the first to gaze on their target, their prey. The Fourth Fleet waited them, but so unexpected was their arrival, Krauss could feel the fear emitting from their location, like a beacon.

"Jammers, ONLINE!"

"Interdiction fields... ONLINE!"

Krauss cackled, her laugh sending shrills to all who could hear, with their comm lines still open, she gave the orders to the fleet. "KILL THEM. Kill them all!"

The fleet was positioned with the Dragoons and Scythes behind the Glory. Once the Austere and her sister ISD-IIs engaged the Fourth Fleet, Krauss would begin draining the shipyard's shield grid, enough to land her troops and secure them. The tricky part, would be setting a good distance between the yards and the rebel guard dogs...

Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, Glory

Bilbringi...

Alister hated this place. Not because it was a hazard for any invading force. Alister had seen far greater environmental obstacles in his years. It was here that one of the greatest military minds the galaxy had ever seen was ruthlessly murdered. Alister himself was an outstanding fleet commander, and Zend was just as good, if not better, than he. But Thrawn...It was fitting that Alister's return to the galaxy was where his best friend was killed. A good place to vent his anger.

The more powerful portion of the attack force was being dispatched with Admiral Harrison to engage the rebel fleet. With Alister directing the attack on the shipyards.

The Glory lead the group of smaller vessels towards shipyard's defense. Taking care to avoid any asteroids and metal scraps they came across. Alister walked over to the bridge's holodisplay table and invited Commander Krauss to join him. Calling up a real time image of the battle, Alister was able to get a better look at what they were dealing with.

The defense force around the shipyard consisted mostly of corvettes and frigates with one capitol apart from the main fleet. Smart. Unfortunately for them, Alister knew what they would depend on most to try and route the Imperial advance.

Alister scanned the holographic image one more time and shook his head. "This won't take long at all."

I'll start moving my part of the attack along after I give Carn a chance to post. Also...What the hell is a Scythe?

“Bilbringi is in sight, Admiral Harrison,” Captain Kiandra spoke, pleasure hinting in her voice. Harrison, however, dreaded the battle to come as he gazed on the spinning asteroids, the turbolaser laced stardock, and the combined Rebel and Traitorous Remnant Fourth Fleet. Star Destroyers and Capital Ships lining it’s ranks with support vessels of every design. But a Mandolorian Keldable Cruiser caught his eye, wondering if it’s Magnetic Acceleration Cannons, Mass Drivers or MAC Cannons as they were called, were operational. If it was, shields would do nothing for his portion of the fleet.

But they only had one ship that could be equipped with it, it would be only a nuisance that he could easily rid himself of. The Austere’s size doubled, if not tripled the length of the Mandolorian vessel, and would be an easy problem he could more than handle.
“Captain,” Harrison directed to Kiandra, “Prepare your advance teams for your departure to the stardock. Once Admiral Mako has a landing area secured, depart and assist.”
Kiandra saluted then in a crisp hast, she disappeared from the bridge to the hangers below.

“Launch Single Seat Fighters and Bombers, concentrate on the smaller ships,” he ordered, “Withhold one-half of them for reserve.”

"Yes, Admiral."

"Also, instruct our Star Destroyers to stay within tight formation with the Austere, we'll move in on the Rebel Scum as one."

Jonathan’s jaw dropped, they had barely come out of hyperspace half and hour ago, and they were being attacked already. When The Fourth Fleet arrived at the Bilbringi Asteroids, Gavin had relayed the message Daara Zend had transmitted to the entire galaxy, being the cause for the reassignment. He expected it to be a joke, a hacker playing a galaxy wide prank. But the message was genuine. He saw ships in the Empire’s Formation that were familiar to him, but other’s that were foreign and alien to him. One being a large, nearly four-thousand meter long forked ship of immense size. He was thankful that there were no Executor Super Star Destroyers, or else they would have been slaughtered. Here they stood a chance, a vastly outnumbered chance as it were.

“Charge MAC Coils and prepare to fire a burst of slugs at… Hell… Any target you want, Romny.” he was too dazed at the sudden appearance of the Empire, his mind half concentrated on the Star Destroyers in the Fourth Fleet’s own formation, wondering if they’d defect. And if they did, he would have to react quickly.

“Bring all shields double front,” Ferris said aloud, loud enough for everyone to hear, “Leave twenty-five percent shield strength to our Port incase that Star Destroyer defects on us.”

He looked, seeing faint dots of blue flames approaching them, “Contact Commodore Gaains and ask for some fighter support.”

(To find out what Tira Gaains was doing prior to this battle, Click Here.)

The tension aboard the Negotiator was think as Commodore Gaains stood aboard the bridge and looked out at the view of Bilbringi. She could almost swear she could feel it crawling along her skin, trying its darndest to break through and drive her to do something crazy or stupid. Or both. Having an Imperial warlord that hadn’t been seen nor heard of in roughly two decades suddenly declare war on the entirety of the known galaxy had that kind of effect.

Worse, High Command was still in pieces, as far as she was aware. There had yet to be a replacement for Ulgo, the most likely pick was reportedly dead as well, and Valure…well, Valure failed fill her with confidence. He struck her as among the peak living examples of a not just a politician, but a career politician. She had disliked their kind for as long as she had been in the military. Far too many of them had more interest in how to best serve themselves, rather than how to best serve the New Republic.

That one of their kind was running the show now that they were at war, she sincerely hoped that the man would be able to break her perception of him before it was too late. As regretful as Commander in Chief Ulgo’s death had been, there was a bright point it had created. Perhaps this time, Chief of State Valure would be smart about his selection and not pick someone simply based on the whether or not they had helped get him elected.

“Ma’am, we have new incoming!”

Too occupied by her thoughts, Gaains was startled as an officer at the sensor station announced the event. However, she successfully managed to downplay it to being unnoticeable and maintained her composure as she gave her attention to the station.

“It’s…a massive Imperial fleet…”

The lull in the mans voice told her all she needed to know for the instant about what they were looking at.

“Zend?” She asked, fearing she already knew the answer. If it had been the Remnant, she would have expected they would have been informed ahead of time.
“Commodore, we’ve just detected an interdiction field.” She heard from another man at the sensor station.
“Zend.” She said under her breath in response to her own question.

The Battle Alert alarm signaled as Captain Horn activated the ship alert system.

“All hands, all hands, report to battle stations. This is not a drill! I repeat, this is not a drill!”

She quickly began running tactics and scenarios through her head as the crew of both her own ship and the other ships under her command scrambled to their posts. It went smoother than it could have, thanks in large part to Gaains having ordered the task force to be battle ready as soon as the Zend announcement had been made.

“Have all fighters ready to launch, but do not release them until I give the signal.” She ordered. “Are they launching fighters?”
“Yes, Ma’am. Reports of TIEs, both Fighers and Bombers.”
“Order the Voyager and Osiris to spread out for maximum fire support coverage while staying within the Tatooine and Negotiator protection area.” She said. “They are to make the bombers their priority targets. I don’t want them wasting shots on the escorts.”

With the asteroid field, it would be difficult for any bombers to launch projectiles without getting in close. Theoretically, that would bring them in close enough for the Ranger gunships to open fire on them without sending their own fighters out to be needlessly picked off in open space.

“Until Zend’s ships move to where we can shoot them, the same goes for the Aggressive Negotiator and Heroes of Tatooine.”

And with TIEs, it was only the bombers that would be a threat to the capital ships. The escorts, whether they be Interceptors or originals, did not possess the firepower to make much of an impact on the New Republic defenses.

“Commodore, we’ve received a request from the Infinity. They’re asking for fire support.”

”D’ast.” she thought to herself. According to what she had read, the Infinity was an old Keldabe-class Battleship commanded by a Captain Ferris. Unremarkable in most respects, it’s main saving grace for still being employed by the New Republic Defense Force was its MAC cannon. If reports were accurate and the thing still worked, it would not be a weapon to let Zend’s forces get to.

“Have the Heroes of Tatooine launch Phaser and Crimson Squadrons and deploy them to protect the Infinity. Echo squadron is to be kept on stand by as potential reinforcement. Contact Captain Ferris, inform him of this, and recommend he move his ship within the protective firing arc of our Rangers.”

For the immediate future, that would take care of defensive tactics, but they needed to prepare for the inevitable counter-attack, as well as the future of the defensive operation once the enemy close in. With as big a fleet as Zend had sent, they needed something to even the odds. The asteroids helped, but…

“Prepare the tractor beams.” Gaains said. “And locate any asteroids within range that aren’t currently inhabited by anything intelligent.”

Shen was awestruck, watching the Imperial Fleet arrive. He expected them to arrive, but not here, not this quickly. He hoped the New Republic would have time to dig in and prepare, but no later did they even arrive in system, they were already encompassed in interdiction fields. The Trucemaker angled expertly around the asteroids as it moved with the rest of the fleet, dodging the Corvette sized pieces. Admiral Darklighter stood at attention in the front of the bridge, watching and assessing the new ships that adorned the Imperial Fleet. Shen looked to his left, seeing Janice staring out in fear. He knew for a fact that she never faced action, and neither did he. Fear was beginning to overtake him, but his training kicked in as Gavin spoke.

“Send our Star Destroyers to the stardocks to defend them, we need to protect those at all costs,” he said, directing to Shen, “Launch fighters and have them stay close to the our formation for protection. Contact Captain Ferris and tell him to concentrate his Mass Drivers on the formation that is heading to the stardocks.”

“Order the rest of the fleet to engage the rest of the Imperial Forces, but from within the asteroids for protection, if possible.”

Shen’s mind clicked, then his fingers tapped as he sent the Admiral’s orders to the rest of the fleet.

The holographic display shifted, the instantaneous replay of the events taking place inside the Bilbringi asteroid belt. Her eyes melted when the Remnant vessels moved against them, their positioning taking a defiance that would be remembered. She took leave of the display, leaving Admiral Mako to continue issuing orders. A comms officer watched her approach, his posture stiffened. "I want you to hail those Imperial Remnant ships directly." She waited, and then waited for the small red light to appear, she was live.

"Captains, and crew members of the Imperial Remnant. You have a decision to make today. You can fight alongside the Rebel scoundrels, who have long ago usurped power from your hands, or you can fight alongside us, under Grand Admiral Zend. She is the future, gentlemen. You know it in your hearts." She paused, "If your Commanding Officers disagrees, shoot him. Only those loyal to the cause will survive our attack. Any ship that does not defect, shall burn. No survivors will be taken. Do what you must, but in the end, resistance is futile."

Krauss cut the transmission line. The IR fleet would see a number of defects, maybe none would be successful, but it would cause unfortunate doubt in their comrades' allegiance. The officers required and depended on will become suspicious and vulnerable. Chaos may ensue, wrapping and negating their vessels entirely. Krauss left that window open, it was a tactic. If it worked, the pace of the battle would move along much faster.

Returning to the display, she watched as Republic fighters began to grapple nearby asteroids. Krauss shrilled with laughter. "Send a Scythe to assist the Austere and her sisters." The tractor beam was a creative ploy, but it would slow the fighters and the energy used to power the tractor beams, would leave less energy for the shields. Krauss returned her gaze to the older Admiral, and something had emerged. It was a fire in his eyes, it had been absent for quite some time, inside the dormancy of the Unknown Regions. But here, back in the galaxy they once left, he was more alive than she had ever seen him. Good man.

"Admiral Mako, status report please." She leaned against the holo-display, watching as the fleet progressed towards their goals. As the True Empire moved towards the shipyards, a number of asteroids had activated, cannons and planted turbolasers screaming towards them. The Glory negated a majority, with the Scythe-class protectors eliminating the remaining. Though this particular region of space was void, they would no doubt cross another.

"Interesting," Krauss spoke, as the last of the turbo-asteroids had been destroyed. It was a small patch of space, probably the perimeter of more to come. "Bilbringi has forced our enemies to think outside the rancor pit." Her nails methodically tapped the display screen. The odds were still in her favor, and she had no intention of letting Zend down.

This was her battlefield...

"Admiral Mako, status report please."

Krauss interrupted his thoughts. It had been a long time since he was commanded during a battle. He ignored her for a moment, but she began to say something else he couldn't quite catch, but figured it best to answer her inquiry before she became angry.

"Everything is going smoothly thus far. The armed asteroids were unexpected, but hardly proved effective. I suggest the Scythes take up positions in front of the Glory and lay down suppressive fire on any asteroids in our path. While the Dragoons remain behind us until we begin fighting the larger vessels."

EDIT: Btw, Alex. You're free to use Alister for minor reactions to things you do or say if you want. :)

The Expeditionary Battle Group was just returning from tests in deep space for some final adjustments when it was yanked out of Hyperspace at the edge of the Bilbringi system.
Alarm klaxons started ringing everywhere and the entire bridge erupted in a chaos of shouting as sensor reports came in, showing an Imperial force attacking the system. And not just any Empire, Zend's Empire. The real bad guys who were not gone after all.

Resisting the urge to gloat over his insistence upon keeping the military around, he began shouting orders, "battle stations! Seems we're going to test the ships' systems the old fashioned way!"

They were far away from Bilbringi itself as well as the battle, but with some manoeuvring they might be able to attack the Zend fleet from behind, especially the force headed for the shipyards. But for now they were out of firing range, even for the Renown's largest guns. And then the was the little matter of the Imperial fleet being massive, considerably larger than even the combined allied forces. But that was easily changeable in a number of ways.

Brand looked at his XO, Captain Wellsprun but before he could even open his mouth he said, "local communications has been jammed. We can still use hyperwave, but further into the system everything's down."
"We're on our own then," Brand stroked his chin and then raised his hand at the comm officer, "signal the picket Hopper to reverse course and get outside the jamming field, so we can alert Coruscant," he paused and sighed, "and Denon, about this mess! And send an A-Wing courier to Bilbringi and tell them we'll try to flank the Imps and go after the clowns advancing on the shipyards."

Many people had called Brand a relic from the past for his pre-Union attitudes. It was his luck that a big chunk of that past had just walked in. Now that the war had returned Brand might even take up pipe smoking once again.

“Launch remaining TIE Fighters and Bombers in our entire formation, have them remain at our sides until I give the order.” Harrison spoke aloud, suddenly finding himself staring down the length of The Austere as he saw tens, if not hundreds of fighters exiting his ship and idling over it as they patiently waited for their coming bloodlust. Most, if not all of the Imperial Pilots under Grand Admiral Zend’s control have seen multiple fields of combat throughout the Unknown Regions.

He saw an explosion from the Keldable Battleship, and a blink later three explosions burst fifty meters away from The Austere. Wiping away dozens of fighters and pilots that were caught in their wake. His ship’s particle shields had taken the Mass Driver Slugs and vaporized them, but the kinetic energy from each of the three rounds would have severely depleted his shields, but it had also destroyed a third of his starfighter forces.
“Shields holding at Seventy-seven-point-five percent, Admiral.”

Hearing the news wasn’t wanted at the moment. The Pilots who just gave their lives would never be forgotten, serving Daara Zend with courageous honor. He peered to the outer edge of the asteroid system, seeing another New Republic Fleet arrive. He expected them to panic, and try and find help.

"Send half of our fighters and The Scythe Commander Krauss gave us to deal with our new arrivals. Destroy any couriers that you encounter."

Tag: Admiral Fyyar, Alex, Cray, Space Jawa, Vader Welcome to Unity, Fyyar ;) Just to let you know, no one is to know (I don't know if you know already) about Bilbringi or Muunilinst until after the battle and the Republic retreat. Just a heads up :D

Cheers exploded from the bridge of The Infinity as they watched the three massive MAC slugs impact the larger forked vessel. But it quickly died down once the smoke settled, seeing only the vaporized remains of some fighters and pieces of the slugs they had thrown at them.
“I can’t get a reading on anything on the Imperial Forces, Captain,” Jones announced, “Besides their locations and firing arcs, I have no reading on if we’re even doing anything to those ships.”

Almost on cue, a New Republic Fleet was pulled from Hyperspace at the edge of the system, The Expeditionary Battle Group, under the command of Vice Admiral Karel Brand.
“Welcome to the hellhole, Admiral Brand. Pick a target, please.” Jonathan said, it might have come off insubordinate, but he was trying to alleviate an already stressful mood.

Before he could finish his thought, explosions from his port side rippled his port shields to near nothing.
“Sir! The Star Destroyer Victory has opened fire!”

The Victory had defected on the Republic and Remnant, but they had opened fire with their backs, and exposed engine sections turned.
“Direct all shields to port and engage,” Jonathan quickly replied in distaste, “Load MAC rounds and prepare to fire on their engine systems.”

“Commodore, a new group of ships has entered the system.”
“Please tell me they’re not Zend’s.” She said. The current fight was an unpleasant enough looking situation as it was.
“No, Ma’am. It’s the Renown.”
“Send Admiral Brand any information we’ve gathered on Zend’s ships thus far.” She said, recognizing who the command belonged to.

From the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a flash of light.

“What was that?” She asked. It had appeared to come from one of the Zend ships, and if one the opposing craft had been eliminated that quickly she wanted to know what was responsible.
“I think that was the Infinity’s MAC gun.”
”At least it looks impressive.” she thought. But as the light cleared, she also could see that the ship looked no worse for the wear. Nothing like the damage she thought it was suppose to cause.

“That’s it?” she asked, astounded over the apparent end result of what was suppose to be some kind of superior anti-capital ship weaponry. ”At least that explains why they stopped building them.”
“If I’m reading this right, squadrons worth of fighters were wiped out.”
”Well good for them.” she thought sarcastically. She was willing to admit that it wasn’t something to discount entirely, but at the same time, it amounted to little in the grand scale of things. They couldn’t count on the enemy fighters staying together for long, especially after what had just happened. If destroying fighters was all the MAC cannon was good for, then she couldn’t afford to set aside squadrons to guard it for long.

“Send a request to the Infinity to tell us what just happened.” She said. If Captain Ferris was interested in dedicated fighter support, she saw no problem with expecting that someone over there would be able to tell her why their key weapon wasn’t working like it was suppose to.

“And if that weapon doesn’t work as advertised, I want you to…”
“Ma’am, the Victory has gone rogue!”
“What?” She asked, wondering if perhaps she had misheard the announcement. The Victory was a remnant vessel, and a Star Destroyer to boot – a symbol of the Imperial navy, even after all these years. If it was opening fire on her former allies, it meant there were high-ranking Imperial officers who were jumping ship.
“The Victory. It’s opened fire on the New Republic and Imperial forces!”
“D’ast you, Imps.” She cursed under her breath. While Zends forces were still on the other side of the Asteroids, the Victory was behind lines and free to attack their flanks. Already it had opened up and driving cracks into the Bilbringi defenses.

“Launch all fighters.” she ordered. “Do you have any asteroids located for me?”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
“Send all Negotiator squadrons to remove the Victory from the battle. Send out an asteroid ahead of them at a safe distance for cover. And tell them they are not to destroy any of the Victory’s fighters that do not shoot at them first.”

Jonathan watched as the Victory fired wildly at the surrounding ships in it’s formation, taking an equal amount back. Jonathan waited for the MAC slugs to load into the magnetic rails that ran the length of The Infinity. With their backs turned to them, and their engines running hot, The Victory would be an easy target for their slugs, their shields would be very low due to the exhaust of their Ion Engines.
“Rounds loaded and ready for your order.”

“Target their Starboard Ion Engine and fire all three rounds, quick succession.” If he was lucky, it would hit it’s reactor and detonate it.

“Aye.” Jones replied.

Three dull thuds rung throughout the ship as the rounds fired, the first impacting The Victory’s aft shields, the second causing minimal damage, being slowed by what remained of it’s aft shields. The third hit it’s mark, ripping and warping the hull as it passed through decks at lighting speed, tumbling out the other end of the Star Destroyer. It’s reactor didn’t blow, but it’s shields shimmered and failed, as did it’s starboard weapons.
“Reload one MAC round and fire on it’s Central Ion Engine.” It wouldn’t take long for a single round to load, but it gave him enough time to pace the bridge and study the battle before him. Admiral Brand was moving skillfully through the asteroids towards the stardocks, Gaains was using her tractor beams to guide asteroids in front of her fighters for protection and cover.
Admiral Darklighter led the rest of the formation into direct combat with the Imperials; an attempt to destroyer their Interdictors with his Mon Calamari Cruisers and support ships, including his own Corellian Corvette.
Jonathan was firing what was suppose to be a shield bypassing weapon of mass destruction, the most powerful non-nuclear and non-blaster weapon in the entire galaxy. And it was barely causing a dent.
“MAC round loaded, sir. Ready on your order.”

“Fire.”

I think we should add this to the end of our posts, it'll clarify which characters remain.

"Everything is going smoothly thus far. The armed asteroids were unexpected, but hardly proved effective. I suggest the Scythes take up positions in front of the Glory and lay down suppressive fire on any asteroids in our path. While the Dragoons remain behind us until we begin fighting the larger vessels." Admiral Mako had suggested.

"Do it." Krauss looked away, watching a triad of Scythes take ahead, forming a formidable line in front of the Glory and her escorting Imperial Star Destroyers, modified Mark IIs. The Bonecrusher, Demon of the Maw and the Pallisx formed tightly on their rear, their own turbolasers and beam weapons clearing nearby asteroids from shield-draining impacts. This allowed the first of two Interdictors to slip between asteroids with ease, along with the remaining Scythes and Dragoons behind the oversized destroyer.

In the rear, a leftover interdictor remained guarded by six war ships, the Po, Deadman's Dread, Byss, Zaro, O'a'a and the Dominion. This extra security left the Rebels trapped in their own web, where the spiders of death and war, slipped in to destroy them.

Cheers rang about the command deck, the awesome power of the Victory had turned on her sister fleet, a powerful surge of turbolasers began to erupt over the Rebellion forces. Completely caught off guard, she watched as their enemy frantically switched tactics against the brave officers persuaded by Krauss' offer. The crazed commander laughed, her shriek sending chills down her own spine, before slamming a fist down. the Keldable-battle ship sent a MAC blast towards it.

"Frakkers," she said under her breath, though entirely surprised to see the vessel still intact. She screamed in delight, her military boots stomping over the Glory's command deck, until a glorious explosion sent the massive Star Destroyer into a plume of flames. From inside out, the Imperial giant buckled and disappeared into a million fragments.

"Our brothers paid the price," Krauss spoke aloud, returning the holoscreen.

The asteroids had stalled their attack on the New Republic fleet, but that gap was closing fast. A new force had appeared at the edge, now putting the True Empire into a the middle of a Rebel horde. Fish cruisers, built by the Mon Calamari, now sped towards them. Krauss could feel saliva turn into distasted venom, her eyes rolling in utter hatred. They could no longer leave the second interdictor and her supporting fleet out in the rain. "Hail the Deadman's Dread," Krauss barked, one of her officers patching her through immediately.

"Bring Zend's Diamond towards the Glory, do not engage the fish cruisers." The officer acknowledge, the bulk of the Imperial fleet would be combined now, the gap would be easily closed as the majority of the wake between them and the shipyards had been vaporized by beam weaponry.

"We need to stall the Mon Calamari cruisers before we reach the shipyards," Mako pointed out. The older man was right, Krauss thought. They needed to engage the bigger vessels, but only after the shipyards had been boarded, should the new Rebel fleet hold orders to destroy the shipyards, in a last ditch effort. It would be a tactical loss for the Rebellion, but a tremendous feat against the True Empire. Their staging grounds would be lost, and Zend greatly displeased with her most effective commanders.

"Hail Admiral Harrison, order him to destroy the Keldable-weapon, then to engage the Fish." Her eyes looked ahead to the rats guarding the giant cheese haven. "While he moves to engage the MAC weapon, we'll have a limited amount of time to begin our assault on the shipyards. Drain a key segment of the shield grid, and to launch our dragoons. Should the Fish-destroyers arrive, we may lose our invasion parties in crossfire."

It wouldn't be a question of victory, but the new addition of Rebel warships brought the equation closer to balance, from an absolute True Empire wash. Now it was tact and timing. The Kedable warship had to go, first and foremost. The NR defensive fleet had to be neutralized before the Calamari vessels arrived. "Oh, and tell Harrison to catch a Corellian Corvette with one of his Star Destroyers. I have a surprise for those onboard."

She cackled, watching the gap close between the second Interdictor and the Glory's position. Now, they were in striking distance of the Defensive Rebel fleet, as the Austere surged ahead to attack the origin of the MAC blasts. The hordes of starfighters emerged, though Mako ordered them behind the Scythe fire blasts. "All vessels, open fire..."

Okay the way I see it, the gap is finally closed between the True Empire and the Defensive Fleet of Bilbringi. All the T.E. ships are now in position to assault the protectors and the Shipyards for boarding parties.

Brand is about 20-30 minutes behind, I'm assuming they are coming from a different section of the asteroid field, which means they'll need to clear the way, which will take time.

Please point something out, if I missed anything. Ciao!

“With pleasure,” Harrison hissed joyfully at the comms officer aboard The Glory. Harrison looked out, The Victory had been destroyed and Imperial, Rebel and Traitorous Forces merged into combat. The new arrivals were too far out, they wouldn’t be able to do much. The battle was almost won. The Rebel’s Fish Warships were closing in, but they wouldn’t be successful. With a brash, calm and orderly voice, “Launch all reserve fighters and engage The Keldable Warship. We will smite it from the Face of the Galaxy.”

He felt a sudden jerk as all the engines aboard The Austere leapt forward toward it’s enemies, eagerly wanting their blood to stain space as much as Harrison. Another burst of MAC rounds fired at The Austere and her Star Destroyers, but they simply damaged and pinged off their shields. They were accurate weapons, from an obsolete era.
“Open fire on the Keldable Warship and any ship that gets in our way with all weapons. Show them the might of The True Empire,” he pondered for a moment, he still needed to address Krauss’ other orders for capturing a Corellian Corvette. For what reason? He hoped it would be torture and slow, painful deaths. If she was feeling merciful. He looked on the battlefield as lances of lasers and expended rocket fuel shot towards the mandalorian ship to disable it. He didn’t see a Corellian Corvette within the formation in front of him, but amidst the Mon Calamari Starcruisers, there were plenty to choose from, one interesting one caught his eye, “Send all of our forces to the Fish formation and deal with them, but spare and capture as many Corellian Corvettes as possible.”

Lances of light and fire soared at lighting speed towards The Infinity, they were wild, seemingly aiming for every portion of Jonathan’s ship. But then the missiles altered their course and expertly soared through the only unshielded opening onboard his ship, The MAC Coils. Explosions rippled throughout the ship, damaging multiple systems, but devastating the MAC Cannon.
“Status!” Jonathan barked to LT. Romny as he danced around the bridge trying to get Ferris the status he requested.

“Screwed!” he shot back insubordinately as he reviewed the report before handing it off to him. Ferris reviewed the information for himself. With the MAC coils running the length of the ship, the missiles had damaged nearly every system except their reactor, engines and hyperdrive. Shields were gone too, at least half of them that is. He needed to think of something cleaver to get himself out of this one.
“Launch all escape pods and begin… Spiraling out of control. Vent atmosphere on non-essential decks once crewmembers are clear from those sections. Cease weapons fire and contact Tira Gaains and tell her we’re playing dead, we’re useless anyways.”

His plan was to hope the Imps were stupid right about now and bought his floating hulk trick. If the Imperials got close enough without firing and taking the bait, it would be a hell of a surprise.

I'm done writing for now. I got nothing for Shen for now, but Alex and I were talking about them being captured, but later escape due to a planned event.
If any CMAC member has a problem with Gavin getting captured, please let either Alex or me know.

Just to clarify, Brand's so-called fish fleet is actually comprised of the Renown, two regular Mon Cal Cruisers, two Star Destroyers, three heavy cruisers and a fleet carrier. Plus a bunch of smaller escort ships, but probably not that many Corellian Corvettes, since they were outdated even twenty years ago.

Several Z-Imperial ships were now turning to face Brand's Expeditionary Battle Group and soon they would be within targeting range. The enemy fleet was a mix of the usual suspects of Imperial Star Destroyers and some larger vessels of similar design, the likes of which had been used by Imperial commanders ever since Palpatine got around creating the Empire in the first place.

One of the larger warships however was distinctly more alien, and seemed as a quite modern warship. It was obvious Zend's people had laid their hands on some interesting new technology while taking their leave of absence. That one they were going to face soon.

"Enemy ships will be within firing range of Renown in ten seconds," reported the gunnery chief.
"Fire the main guns as soon as they're in range, target whatever looks shaky!" It would be a while before the rest of the fleet's artillery was in range.

Observing the first mighty flashes of the Renown's heavy guns in action for the first time in more than half a year, Brand almost fell into a nostalgic trip. In fact he did, but that was back to the days of active warfare against the Imperial menace. Twenty years of not fighting an organised state left its mark on one's tactical preferences. Had this enemy been a pirate group, Brand might be able to win the battle by engaging them head on in a slugging match, relying on the superior firepower and training of his New Republic ships. But this was no pirate gang, and he didn't even have the advantage of numbers nor firepower.

Taking a quick glance at the Imperial fleet as the Renown's first volley impacted harmlessly on their shields, Brand concluded that barring any major miracle, this was a losing battle. And even if victory was achievable, the price would be far too heavy.
But he would not just turn tail. He had to save his comrades-in-arms closer to Bilbringi as well. And he had a hunch about how to do it.

"Signal the Fourth Fleet to start filling up whatever ships they've got and begin scuttling the shipyards," Brand ordered.
Captain Wellsprun looked at him for a moment, and then he obviously understood, "yes, sir."
"And instruct our ships to line up close to the Renown and prepare for full speed ahead. Keep the K-Wings ready for launch. And start bombarding the Z-Imps!"
A few moments later after the instructions had been transmitted, the heavy cruiser Indomitable hailed the Renown, "Vice Admiral, are we doing what I think we're doing?"
Brand smiled, "indeed we are. We'll punch a hole in their formation so big even the entire Hutteese people would feel overwhelmed."

It was all or nothing.

Her squadrons had barely had time to advance on the Victory before an explosion erupted through it, tearing the ship apart. Apparently, the MAC cannon was effective, just not against the new designs that Zend’s forces had brought with them.

”Still makes it just as ineffective.” She thought. “Belay the attack on the Victory.” she ordered. “And recall Phaser and Crimson Squadrons for redeployment. They’re not doing any good out there.”

The ship began to shake as Zend’s forces closed in and unleashed their weapons on the defending forces – the Negotiator included.

“Keep weapons concentrated on as few targets as possible.” She said as her ships returned fire. “I want them to have an impact!”
“Ma’am, the Infinity has been disabled. They’re launching escape pods, but they sent a message telling us they’re playing dead.”
“Retrieve any escape pods we can as long as we’re in range, but do let it distract from the battle.”

She couldn’t ignore it entirely, but at the same time, the ship hadn’t been worth the effort, as far as she was concerned. She needed a new plan, and without any orders from Darklighter or Brand, she was left to her own initiative.

If Zend’s forced meant to destroy the shipyards, there was little anyone would be able to do about it. There were too many ships for the Imperial and New Republic craft to keep back all the firepower the invaders could unleash.

But there was little reason for anyone to attack Bilbringi for destructive purposes. It was too valuable a target. And the likelihood that their enemy wanted to capture the station meant the job of defending it would be that much easier.

“Pull back to the shipyards.” She ordered. “Find out what point they’re most likely to try boarding at if their goal is to capture, then take us to where we can best defend that point from.”
“Commodore, Brand has signaled the Fourth Fleet, he wants us to scuttle the shipyards.”

No, that couldn’t be right. The battle wasn’t over yet. Was he that prepared to give them up already?

“Are all fighters launched?” she asked.
“They are now.”

She needed to give him a reason to change his mind. She couldn’t disobey his orders, of course, but she was reasonably in a position where she arguably couldn’t follow through with them yet.

“Get confirmation from Admiral Darklighter.” She ordered. “And send Solar Wind, Ewok, White, Knight, and Crimson Squadrons around through the gaps in the shipyard. See if they can flank Zend’s forces standing between here and Brand from below and help clear the way.”

Maybe if they could clear the way for Brand to get in close, that would give them the advantage needed to hold off the enemy till they could call for more reinforcements.

This IS still a pre-determined battle, right? >_>

The shipyards were close now. However the rebel force tasked to defend them was hurting. And what Alister assumed was an effort to stay alive, they started moving closer to the shipyards themselves. Alister had no way of knowing what they were up to. It is possible they were about to scuttle the shipyards, or just try to better defend them. While the latter was more likely, the former was still an option. But they would not get the chance to perform either one.

"Fighters incoming!" one of the crew shouted as the proximity alarms sounded. "And the new fleet has picked up speed!"

"Orders, sir?" Captain Leon asked Alister.

Alister looked over at Krauss. No objection from what he could tell. Besides, she could just belay his orders.

"Send the all ships except the Star Destroyers at the shipyards. I want the fighters the swarm through the enemy fleet to throw them off balance while a small number of Dragoons work on bringing down the shipyard's shield grid with the rest pounding the rebel ships. Have the Scythes deal with any fighters they have in that area to keep them from our boarding parties," Alister ordered.

"What about the Star Destroyers, sir?" Leon asked.

"Turn us around to face the oncoming fleet and have all of them, the Glory included, dip their bows and open fire."

Sorry for taking so long. I was a little busy. And I have no idea if this post will be acceptable. I barely have an idea as to where people are, and where they are going. But I guess that is what the 'edit' button is for.

Round Three Complete - All Characters Have Posted.
Still a True Empire Victory, but we'll just have to work a little harder at it!

Krauss watched the Keldable Warship burn, and spiral out of control. Sensors had registered the engines were still operational, and the critical mistake of not continuing the assault by Admiral Harrison was noted. She had wanted the vessel destroyed, not sent out of control. Though the shortage of power, and the deck blow outs were a considerable show, the Rebel Captain deserved an Actor's Award, and she planned to deliver it. The smaller defensive fleet clung to the shipyards, as starfighters dangerously protected their prize, much like a nexu over a fresh kill. In due time, Krauss hissed.

Admiral Mako ordered the bows of the their vessels to be tipped, the majority of their forces, now dedicating tactical resources to the incoming Calamari vessels. Krauss paced the vessel, watching the battle in fluid motion, as the balance swayed. "Patch me through to three dragoons." The communication officer nodded, the easy pass of his fingers over the console, before putting her live on the mic, "Take the Keldable Warship. I'll have two squadrons of fighters escort your ships. They will be ordered to make a pass through the lifepods vented." The Empire had learned a valuable lesson about leaving escape pods, nearly a half century ago. The secrets of the Death Star had been allowed to pass into Rebel hands, and forever changed Imperial history. She watched as a squad of TIEs screamed through the location where the Keldable had just been moments ago. Their laser cannons opened fire, small pods exploding in the distance. She laughed wildly, blood pulsing with thick packets of adrenaline.

It was an easy job, to pick off the survivors, but allowing unprocessed victims of war escape, was too much a risk. Plus, it pushed the rebels into a divided frenzy. Save the shipyards. Or save the fleeing, utterly helpless lifepods. The fighters launched heavy rockets, slamming into the Keldable's engines. She wasn't sure if they were damaged, but it allowed the dragoon boarding parties to land and begin cutting into the hull. The droids would be swift, and make quick work of those aboard.

Three dragoons might've been overkill, but the MAC-vessel needed to be neutralized, and she had a plan for this ancient starship. It would see battle once more.

Moving her attention back to the Fourth Fleet, the only defense of Bilbringi, she understood the need to neutralize the forces their backs were currently turned to. "Hail the Demon of the Maw and the Zaro." Once again, her communications officer patched her through almost immediately. Faces of two Imperators appeared, "Captains, I want you each to take a Scythe-class, and engage the Ranger gunships. Once they have been destroyed, cripple the Bothan Assault Cruiser." She hesistated, "Allow them to use lifepods. Destroy 95% of them." The rest would be allowed to leave the Interdictor field, she needed voices. Voices that would communicate and spread fear throughout the galaxy to those who wished to oppose Zend.

She returned to the display screen, hoping to find news that Corvettes had been snatched, and Harrison had begun his assault on the Fish Fleet.

Harrison watched as the Keldabe Battleship slowly spiraled and vented atmosphere with flames shooting forth from it’s destroyed MAC Coils. Krauss wanted the ship out of the fight. It was still intact, but it’s main hindrance had been neutralized. He ordered Kiandra, still awaiting his order to assist in taking the shipyards, from the hanger back to the bridge. He wanted her with him so they could plan an assault to fulfill Krauss’ order to capture a corellian corvette. Why? He wasn’t sure. But he wanted to make it notable enough to actually impress her. He looked around the battlefield, and amidst his own Star Destroyers, Mon Calamari Cruisers and support ships on both sides, was a lone, modified Corellian Corvette. Intel on the Fourth Fleet suggested it was The Trucemaker.

Fitting. He watched his Star Destroyers close in, and fire coherently on single ships to maximize their damage. A Star Destroyer closed into the formation and sent a quick and small volley of medium turbolaser fire towards the Trucemaker. Taking out it’s shields and engines, but leaving it severely damaged.
“Contact the closest Star Destroyer and tell them to capture and take the Corellian Corvette to Commander Krauss. She will be most pleased with us.”

Kiandra entered, taking Harrison’s side. He turned to her, seeing a blank expression of victory on her face as lances of lasers lit the entire bridge up as they fired towards The Rebels. But something was odd about it, she didn’t stare at the tactics his forces took, her eyes followed the Rebel‘s movements and strategy. He ignored it and branded it as her studying her opponents.
He watched the Trucemaker vanish inside the main hanger of one of his Star Destroyers as it quickly escaped the battle with power from it’s weapons diverted to engines and shields.
“Move in,” Harrison announced with a brash, confident voice, “Destroy them.”
