Solo Enterprises
The Leader in Galactic Transportation and Travel

Brief History:

Founded shortly after the creation of the Galactic Union, Solo Enterprises started out as a small shipping company run by Han Solo and a few close relatives and friends. After several years of renown service to the people of the New Republic and to the Galactic Union at large, the company soon grew into a galaxy-spanning organization, doubling in size and reputation seemingly overnight. The company soon took on several new services, including galactic travel and sightseeing, charter service and of course, the usual shipping services that made the company famous. Still headed by Han Solo with his son, Anakin Solo, at his side, the company today ranks up there as one of the most reliable and stable companies of its time, providing safe and fast service to all of its loyal customers.

    -Shipping and Hauling
    -Charter Service

It wasn’t long before Sean was hovering over the Solo Enterprises headquarters. It was a nice enough building, and Sean could tell that it got a lot of business. Even this early in the morning, there were ships coming and going. As for Sean, he had hailed the docking authority and was awaiting their response. Five minutes later, his comm. crackled and came to life.

“Solo Enterprises Docks, please identify.” It was a male voice, and he sounded bored. Had probably been there most of the night. Poor guy.

Sean quickly hit the transmit button and spoke. “Sean Tavell, Jedi Knight and captain of the YT-1930 Nova Hound, requesting permission to land. On a return run from Corellia I stumbled upon one of your damaged freighters, the Star Runner. Concerned for the timely arrival of their freight, I offered to haul it on my way back, and here I am. There should be a message with the details.”

After a brief pause, Sean heard, “Please wait a moment.” So he did.

It took some time, and Sean found himself drifting off a bit, not into sleep but into thought. He was grateful he was not hung-over, but… well… he was still kinda bitter he hadn’t been able to finish his… ehem… business with Starbright back at the cantina. Despite Master Skywalker’s orders, he may have to hit that place up one of these days. She certainly was luscious, what with the perfectly form…

“Freighter Nova Hound, you check out and have been cleared for landing on platform 5. An escort will be there to greet you. Please proceed.”

“Thank you, kind sir.” Sean replied. He then moved his ship slowly to settle down on the designated platform. As he powered down the ship, he noticed several men standing at a respectful distance from his ship. Sean lowered the cargo ramp and then moved out of the cockpit and out of the ship.

“Jedi Tavell, it’s a pleasure.” A man extended his hand politely, and Sean took it briefly, nodding as he did so. “If you will follow us?” Sean gestured for him to lead on. He did.

The man lead him through the building while the others stayed behind, presumably to begin unloading the freight in Sean’s hold. He didn’t think much of it. Solo Enterprises was a highly reputed shipping line, and Sean had little fears about the safety of his ship or his property.

Eventually, the two ended up in what appeared a waiting room, but on closer inspection Sean realized it was the public front of the building, with the receptionist’s desk to his right as they came out the door. Gesturing around the room, his escort politely asked, “If you would not mind, you can wait here. We will inform you when you have been unloaded and are ready for departure.” Sean was about to object…

Until he caught sight of the receptionist. She was a pretty blonde human, and although normally blondes were not his thing, this one made it work. Sean shot the escort a grin and said, “I think I’ll manage.” The other man chuckled softly and then moved off through the door he had just come through. Sean vaguely noticed it closed and locked behind him.

Sean wasn’t really paying attention though. Strangely enough, the room was empty aside from the two, and the Jedi Knight moved casually to the receptionist’s desk. He leaned flirtatiously on the desktop and she looked up from her paperwork in annoyance… until she caught the suave and attractive grin on Sean’s face. She smiled sweetly.

Sean noticed she appeared a little lacking when it came to make up, as if she had slept in and hurried to get ready. It didn’t bother Sean though. This girl didn’t need makeup. At last Sean broke the silence. “So, what’s your name? My name is Sean, by the way.” The girl… she looked about nineteen or twenty, blushed slightly.

“Sonya.” Was all she said. Her voice was pretty, and so was the name.

“Pretty name. So, you been working here long?”

She nodded slightly. “A year or so.” Sean nodded back.

“Seems like a good place to work. Stable, and all.” She nodded.

“It really is.”

“And, to work with Han Solo? Well…. I’ve always wanted to meet him. I have always had a great deal of respect for the man.”

“Oh, he is absolutely wonderful. A great boss, and… um…” she blushed. “Never mind.”

Sean just chuckled. He could guess what she had been thinking. “Indeed. So, you into ships?” Sean asked offhandedly. “I mean, why does a girl like you end up at a shipping company?”

Her blush darkened. “Kinda, yeah. They just… just always fascinated me.” Sean laughed.

“Me too, though I must admit that I’m not too great a pilot or mechanic. Been patching together my YT-1930 for a few years though, so I picked up a few things.”

Her eyebrows shot up. “I absolutely love YT’s. I’ve always been fascinated by them. Maybe it’s because of the Millennium Falcon. I’m not really sure.”

“Oh, they are good ships indeed.” Sean nodded. “You own a ship?” Sean thought he knew the answer, but this was all part of his deviously brilliant plan. Sonya sighed.

“No. I want to own one, some day, but… well… the money isn’t great working as a receptionist.” Sean nodded sadly before flashing her a charming grin.

“Hey, you’ll get there. I can tell by looking at you. You have the air of a spacer.” Her eyes widened.

“Really?” Her voice was hopeful, and Sean chuckled.

“Yes, really.” She flashed him a broad smile, and then ducked down a bit, blushing again. She seemed to be a slightly shy girl. She could be worse things, like a pilot. Sean had never met a female pilot he liked. It was even worse if they could fix ships too. Talk about big heads.

“So,” Sean began. “How’s life going for you?” It was a broad question, but… it was what came to Sean’s mind.

Again, she sighed. “Not much, I am afraid. Working here, mostly. Still at home with Mom and Dad. Haven’t been able to find my feet yet, it seems. Just trying to break the monotony of life, I think.” Sean smiled both outwardly and within.

“You know…” He leaned further across the desk. “I can think of a way to break that monotony for you.” She blushed even more, but didn’t protest, even though she shrank back a bit in embarrassment.

“O..oh?” was all she managed to get out.

Sean nodded. “You see, I happen to have a ship, and they are great fun. Real quiet, real close. Very private, you know? And you can park them almost anywhere; get the best views in the galaxy.” Her blush deepened, if that was even possible. However, a coy smile crossed her lips.

“When do you plan on doing this, Jedi?” The way she said Jedi thrilled Sean. He sratched at his beard slightly in mock-thought.

“Well, let’s see… you don’t work all day, do you?” She smiled.

“No. No I don’t. I just got in, actually. I mean, Mr. Solo would love to keep me here. Says I do my job very well, but… I do need some time off. I think it’s… six, today?” She was playing along, and Sean loved every second of it.

“So, six then?”

“Well, I’ll need time to run home and shower and so forth.” Sean nodded, gesturing offhandedly towards her.

“Of coruse, of course. Six-thirty?”

“Sounds good… now, what did you have in mind?” Sean smiled seductively. This was the clincher right here.

“Well, you see,” he began to slowly circle the desk, “I figured we’d start with a romantic dinner aboard my ship.”

“Ooo… I like it already.” She grinned, the blush fading slightly from her face.

“And then we can sit and chat for a bit, get to know each other.” Sean was now behind her, and gently he placed his hands on her shoulders and began rubbing them softly. She blushed even more. “Then I could give you a massage, similar to this.” His mouth was by her ear and his breath played softly across her neck as he whispered. He felt her shudder slightly, but not out of discontent.

“I think I’d like that.” She said quietly, her eyes slowly shutting as Sean rubbed her shoulders some more.

“Then, you and I could retire for the night. If you’re a drinker, I got plenty of that. Then, a girl like you and a guy like me? We can have a lot of fun…” She giggled slightly.

When Han entered the main lobby of the Solo Enterprises building, the first rays of sunlight were just beginning to cascade into the vast space from the floor to ceiling viewports that adorned either side of the room. They offered quite a breathtaking view of the cityscape around them and as Han passed the first fixture and took in the morning light, he realized that it was still too early to be up. He had never arrived this early and judging from the sidelong glances he was drawing from the few employees that had already arrived at their posts, they were pretty shocked to see him there as well. And it was all thanks to an emergency comm call he received just after 0600 this morning.

One of his assistants on night watch had informed him that one of their fleet ships had stalled out near Corellia and their cargo, which was to be delivered back to Coruscant today for transfer, was dead in space. It was a top priority shipment and the delay would cost him plenty credits and Han wasn't exactly ready to deal with the monetary woes or angry customers so soon after the holiday. It was a hell of a way to start out the new year.

To make matters worse, a Jedi had decided to show up on his doorstep for no apparent reason to meet with him and he was now waiting up in his office suite. Wasn't that Luke's department? What the hell did a Jedi want with him anyway?

Stifling a yawn, Han ran a hand over his face, noticing that he had forgotten to shave in his rush to get here, and crossed the lobby to the bank of turbolifts along the far wall. He keyed in the code for his office level and waited as the car accelerated up the shaft.

When the lift came to a halt and the doors parted, he stepped out into the foyer and was greeted by the sight of his secretary, Sonya, getting a little too friendly with a scruffy, young man. Han sighed and leaned against the doorframe, listening in on their conversation as he rubbed the back of his neck with one hand. When they said a Jedi had come to see him, this isn't what he was expecting. Luke must really be getting slack with his protocols.

Still, it was pretty amusing to watch...

Clearing his throat to grab their attention when things really started to heat up, Han pushed away from the doorframe and started to make his way to their position with a wry smirk. He eyed the Jedi curiously and shook his head. "Is this some kind of new technique they're teaching at the Academy?" he asked dubiously. "How to hit on my secretary? I doubt you came all the way up here just to pick up a girl, kid. And I'm a busy guy, so..." he trailed off, spreading his hands in a gesture to get the information out of the kid. Whatever it is, it better be good.

Sean was quite enjoying himself, and it quite seemed that Sonya was as well. She obviously wasn’t a reclusive girl, that was sure. Sean began to speak sweet little things into her ear and his hand moved down to her hip, a place that she seemed comfortable with. Sean could tell that tonight was going to be a fun night indeed.

In his defense, Sean can’t really be held responsible for what happened next. Despite the fact that no one will believe him, he truly did what next happened by accident. He became suddenly aware of the distinct sound of someone clearing their throat, and it startled him. He hadn’t been paying attention. Not at all. Sean jumped slightly, his hand jerking upwards and… well, let’s just say that Sonya wasn’t comfortable with where, completely by accident, his hand ended up.

It stands to reason that Sonya screamed slightly, as Sean jumped backwards pulling his hands clear. The girl turned in her swivel chair and slapped Sean across the face. For such a small girl, she packed quite a bit of punch because it hurt. Not as much as Sean had and can endure, of course, but it stung, and Sean gapped, dumbfounded, at her as she harrumphed and moved off to a break room or some such, his mouth all the while moving soundlessly as he tried to explain. If there was a deity of love, Sean was now convinced that he had offended them. Two times in as many days Sean had missed out on a potentially very good night with a woman.

"Is this some kind of new technique they're teaching at the Academy?" Sean turned quickly at the sound of the voice and… well, things just kept getting better and better. Han Solo stood staring rather impatiently at Sean. Yes, there was a deity of love and yes, they hated Sean. He was now sure of it. Or maybe it was the Force. Maybe he never should have lied to Master Skywalker about never planning to visit that cantina again…

"How to hit on my secretary? I doubt you came all the way up here just to pick up a girl, kid. And I'm a busy guy, so..." As Solo finished, Sean was undoubtedly now embarrassed. In retrospect, this was a very foreseeable outcome. Sean had been stupid… but, that happened a lot when there was a beautiful woman involved.

Wordlessly, Sean pointed after the vanished girl, but his voice wouldn’t work. He did manage an audible, “um…” though, so he was proud of that. Sean pointed towards Han, and then back towards the girl as words continued to fail him and a blush spread quickly across his face. Finally he was able to speak, and his voice was relatively normal. “That wasn’t… um… that’s not… academy related.” He thought for a moment and then added a respectful, “sir.”

Sean thought long and hard about how to save face and fix this situation, but it only took him a few moments to realize that that was an impossible task. Instead, he composed himself slightly and spoke, the blush fading slightly from his face. “Uh, Jedi Sean Tavell, sir… er… Mister Solo.” Sean extended a hand to the legendary man, who shook it briefly and then let go. Sean let his hand drop. “And, um… no… uh, the girl’s not why I came up here…” Sean paused ever so briefly, “A fringe benefit though.” He chuckled nervously, and then realized maybe that comment was a mistake. “Um… sorry, Sir. No, I…” Sean ran a hand through his hair to calm himself, his face on fire. After another second, he had regained some semblance of composure and continued. “I do apologize for any wasted time, but I assure you it is important.” Sean paused briefly, this time for affect… and it was planned too.

“I was recently returning from a mission from Corellia, when I received a distress call from one of your freighters. Star Runner, I believe. Crewed by two nice, hard working, diligent chaps… anyways, I docked, tried to help them do repairs, but soon found that we didn’t have the required parts.” He paused as his hands began moving to his explanation. “You see, their navicomputer was damaged, and they didn’t know it. It flew them too close to a planet and… well… I don’t really know what happened, but it messed their engines up something fierce.

“They had mentioned that they had some rather time sensitive freight onboard, and I offered to deliver it on my return to Coruscant.” Sean rushed to defend the two SE employees before Solo could form the wrong impression. “They checked my identity through the Jedi Temple, and there should be a message somewhere around here explaining what I have just said and detailing the parts they need, as well as a record of them receiving authorization to do what they did.” Sean gestured towards the door he had been lead through from the landing platforms. “I believe your crews have begun unloading my ship…” He didn’t know what else to say, so he merely stopped and waited for the other man to respond.

Year 41: Month 1: Day 6, 7:55 AM

He was five minutes early to his shift, as Kalin puffed the last of his E'dao. It was an herbal stress reliever, something he had grown attached to since his posting on Coruscant. Kalin dropped the puffer, his shoe crushing the lit end, and extinguishing it, before he kicked it into the small garden. Entering Solo Enterprises was growing more and more of a hassel as security beefed up their presence, partly due to the attack on the Jedi Temple. It made matters worse for Kalin, afterall, his job would be to kidnap the CEO the moment Lumiya gave the order. Now, would not be a good time for that. Not with all these muscle-brains around.

The secretary was beautiful, most men were ensnared by her presence the moment they arrived. If Kalin wasn't sewed into the Dark Lady's plot, he might've been lost to her as well. But his heart was set, and little could move it from his master. "Good morning." Kalin breathed, flashing a friendly smile. Her eyes stopped on him, before returning to the work before her. A casual wave of the hand, but nothing verbal was released. If Kalin had the chance, he would have manners beaten into her. To Solo, she appeared as an angel, but to the rest, a cold hearted, blood sucking nerf herder.

Kalin sat at his desk, kitty corner to the witch. His fingers brought up the latest financial information, including reports from the shipping captains. Nothing really out of the ordinary. He stretched, bringing his hands to the back of his head, before extending all parts of his body to their limits. The morning air had been replaced with the cool refresher of the office building. "Beautiful day, isn't it?" Kalin toyed, attempting to get a word from the ice queen.

The usual workings of Solo Enterprises were already underway for the day when Han finally entered the building and rode the turbolift up to the executive suites. Despite the confidence had had bolstered back at the apartment and in the face of Leia's accusations, he now felt vulnerable and nervous over what he was about to do. The feeling only escalated the closer he drew to his office and the aides waiting to assist him. Maybe it had taken all that time for reality to finally sink into his head - that he was actually giving up a major part of his life, something he had worked nearly 20 years to put together. Sure, he had given excuses about the Falcon and spending more time with Jaina's kid once he was born, but now that he was alone the question still remained - what would he do with himself?

He was still searching for an answer for that question when the lift came to a halt and the double doors parted. Clenching the documents containing the vital information for the meeting closer to his side, Han stepped out of the small compartment and started down the spacious corridors leading to the executive offices. He kept his gaze straight ahead, avoiding the looks and glances of any passerbys as he approached his office at the end of the extended corridor.

As he approached the reception area and the alluring woman, Sonya, sitting behind the desk, he took note that he would miss the soft green hues that decorated the office. It was a subtle reminder of his homeworld of Corellia, a decision he had made on purpose when designing the layout of the building. It was anyone's guess what would happen to his contributions under new leadership. He could only hope that Davad would have some sense in keeping with tradition.

"Good morning, sir," the blond woman called as Han drew close and stopped in front of the desk, leaning up against the tall counter.

"'Morning," he mumbled under his breath, clearly too preoccupied with what he was about to do to give the woman the proper time of day. He fumbled with the documents under his arm, his eyes roving over the text one last time before slapping the entire packet down on the desk in front of Sonya's face. "Can you process this for me?" he continued without preamble. "Get it out to the appropriate people and schedule a meeting for 0900 to discuss it." He pointed to his chrono as he started to walk away. "You have one hour."

She stammered, trying to get some kind of explanation out of him, but he was already past her. That's when he noticed the young man sitting at the desk directly outside of his office. It was a spot reserved for one of his personal aides, but it was no longer occupied by the kid that had been working there earlier in the week. The young intern hadn't had the best track record(which was one reason why he had passed the workload off on Sonya this morning), so it was a safe bet to assume that the kid's supervisor had replaced him. who he was stuck with now, he had no idea.

He offered a weak smile to the young aide as he passed, just enough to acknowledge him, before pressing on to his office. He had to mentally prepare himself for the meeting that was looming ever closer.

Good Morning, the voice had said, and immediately Kalin looked up from his desk. It was him. Kalin's stomach tingled, much like a fisherman when the line moved. Han Solo, the Corellian smuggler and Rebel hero, in the flesh. Kalin typed something, anything to make it seem like he wasn't staring. Three months behind Solo Enterprises, and he was finally at the top, in the office. Unbelievably, Han was near impossible to get to. Kalin had tried to set meetings, pretending to be rich offworld clients, he had even tried to break into his apartment, but it all proved impossible, at least adhering to the guidelines set. Lumiya wanted a clean, no records, no tracing. It had to be set perfect, or everything would fall into pieces.

Han looked at his chrono, before saying, "You have one hour." Kalin had been mildly caught by his own bewilderment, he had missed the conversation entirely. The look on the Ice Queen's face was priceless, and enjoyable. But, now wasn't the time to allow emotions to get the better of him. Locking them down, he gave Han a heads-up nod, a guy's way of saying hello. Nothing over the top, and nothing too kiss-ass. After all, he needed to remain right under the radar. Nothing to prompt anything. It seemed to work, Han passed without saying a word, just a sheepish smirk. Kalin breathed slowly, how perfect was this.

Solo Enterprises was well protected. In house security, New Republic guards, the works. To be an outsider, this would prove as another impossible challenge. But for Kalin, he had busted his ass to get this seat. Sure, a few heads had to roll, quite literally in some instances, but it worked. Anything to please Lumiya, and better yet, bring about the work she is destined to unfold. Kalin was just another player, an instrument in her grand orchestra. Grabbing some files, mostly a heaping pile of "busy-work", Kalin decided to visit the old Rebel, and get a feel of the relic for himself.

Knocking on the door, Kalin flashed a smile. "Good morning, sir. I've been sent by the temp agency, more or less. Worked under your company for several months now, actually. Usually where ever they needed me. Just brought a shipment in from Corellia, aboard the Venri Island, in fact..." It was safe to ramble, showed anxiety, a weakness. Most of his temps acted like this any ways, and Kalin didn't want to be singled out. "Any ways, just wanted to say it's an honor working for the Big Man." Kalin winked, "Oh yeah, I need signatures on all these. Should I leave them with you or Sonya? Can I get you anything, you seem a little... preoccupied, if I may say. Coffee?"

Han had sat down and only had a chance to just begin to organize the mess of papers splayed out all over his desk when the knock came at the door. He stifled a groan, knowing the direction the day was about to take, and glanced up briefly to the doorway to see the young man from the reception area. Like most of the young kids that worked for the company, he was eager to please and hadn't even bothered to wait to be invited into the office before starting into some long tangent about things Han could care less about at the moment.

In fact, Han was content to let him stand there a while longer. Lowering his gaze back to his work, he started to push the papers around on the desk once more. He wasn't looking for anything in particular, he just wanted to appear busy so the kid would go away. After all, he would be leaving the company in a short while, why should he care about disciplining his employees and the same tired issues they came to him with day in and day out? Something he signed off on today could easily be turned around by Davad's crew in a month's time. It wasn't worth it.

Even with that in mind, the kid was insistent. It soon became very clear that he wasn't going anywhere and Han would have to deal with him regardless of what was going to happen to the company.

Without lifting his gaze to acknowledge the young man, he latched onto the most important part of the kid's tirade and provided his answer in a gruff voice. "Well, I was gonna chase you out of my office, but since you're so eager to get started, I'll give you a chance and I'll let you fetch me that cup of caf. Black. None of that fancy stuff. Does that sound like a deal to you?"

He finally glanced up to make eye contact with the kid, his brow furrowed as he studied him under a crucial gaze. That's when he noticed the papers cradled in the young man's hand. He thought he had said something about those, but Han hadn't really been listening. Something about signatures? "What about those?" he continued, gesturing with one hand to the stack. "What are they for? I don't have all day to sit here and read through proposals. I have a meeting in an hour."

"What are they for? I don't have all day to sit here and read through proposals. I have a meeting in an hour."

"They're the latest shipping agreements. Corellia changed a docking procedure, and legal wants them approved before fauna, or live stock byproducts, can be unloaded." Kalin explained, luckily, he had the spare time to read up on the material, before walking in completely blinded. "You do not have to sign them all, just the master copy on the top. Your legal team has a small memo, right, here" Kalin pointed carefully, before retreating to the door, "I'll be right back with that drink, sir."

Kalin disappeared, his feet sweeping past the secretary, who happened to be raising her voice into the communicator. "No, Hal, he wants everyone here in an hour. You are one of the them." The man on the other line seemed either angry or worried, perhaps even a mixture of the two, before he agreed and disconnected. The ice queen sighed, before she attempted a new member of the list Solo had given her.

The break room, or whatever it was, had been one of the finest he had ever seen. The Corellian really knew how to spruce a place up, but then again, the Solos were never really hurting for money. And if they were, a ten-second advertisement for a holo-agency, and they'd be rolling in millions. Must be nice. Kalin didn't trust the coffee generated by the server droid, instead, requesting that a fresh batch be made. The brew took little over a minute. "Coffee. Black." The droid answered, the last of the black liquid dropping into the cup. Kalin grabbed the fresh coffee, and as he turned around, a woman surprised him. Except, it wasn't a member of Solo Enterprise. It was Lumiya.

The woman had preferred to make her communication over vast distances, and her contagious paranoia, developed an unique way of speaking to her agents. For Kalin, her illusion had manifested into younger version of the Dark Lady, which nicknamed herself as 'Shira'. The sudden appearance of the woman caused him to jerk the drink, some of it catching on his shirt. "Great." Kalin muttered.

"Kalin," her voice. Kalin wouldn't know how to begin to describe it. Sometimes he preferred this version of her, being almost too beautiful. Her voice alone could make him do whatever she wanted. "What is happening?"

He handed the droid a new cup, not trusting the old one. "Another, black...none of that fancy stuff." Kalin imitated Han, before returning to the ghost, "I don't know. He's called a meeting."

"Does this happen?" She leaned against the wall, a worker had passed by, stopping momentarily, before Kalin lifted his communicator. She nodded, the confusion of Kalin talking to himself shifted to a technological understanding. Kalin shook his head, and Shira looked annoyed. "We need to move quickly, I can sense something, just enough to know that our plans need to be accelerated." The server droid beeped, repeating the order exactly. Kalin had finished drying the spill and retrieved a tie from his pocket. He hated wearing the thing, but it would be long enough to cover up the mess Lumiya's surprise had caused.

"I'll let you know as soon as I find out." He rounded the corner, just after Shira disappeared. He was used to this, but sighed. Whatever was happening, he could tell it was going to be a long day. Appearing back into Solo's office, Kalin produced the black, not too fancy, coffee. "Here you go, sir. Are there any particular assignments you'd like me work on?" Kalin had set his chrono to beep, and just on time, it went off. "Oh shoot, I meant to catch the Dreadnoughts..." His voice trailed, his eyes darting to his desk.

In reality, he hoped it sparked somekind of attachment. Sports were usually the greatest conversation starter for any man, but to find a guy rooting for the same team...

Silence reigned once more as the kid left the office to carry out his assigned task to collect a cup of caf. Han watched him go for a moment, waiting until he rounded the corner and disappeared from sight before returning to the heap of papers the kid had left for him. More busy work. With a weary sigh, he reclined back in the chair and started flipping idly through the pages.

The kid had already highlighted the important stuff - something about docking procedures being changed on Corellia and his staff wanting them legalized. There was no doubt that he would ultimately sign the agreement to pass it through as soon as possible, but as he glanced at the cover sheet, he couldn't help but see the irony in the whole thing. He had gone from smuggling illegal contraband into spaceports back in the good old days to actually signing agreements to legalize docking procedures and oversee that they are being followed properly.

A small smirk crept onto his face as he set the stack down and pushed through the mess on his desk to find a stylus. This 'respectable' stuff was really starting to work on him and it was yet another reminder that he needed out. The meeting to make everything official couldn't come soon enough...

Once he was able to track down the elusive stylus, he applied his signature to the appropriate box and pushed the packet aside just in time to hear the buzz of a chrono. Lunch was still several hours away and he still had a fair amount of time before the meeting, so that left only one thing - the kid.

"Oh shoot," the kid cursed with a single glance to his wrist. "I meant to catch the Dreadnaughts..." He trailed off and Han could feel the kid's gaze back on him.

Well, the kid had good taste, he had to give him that much. Glancing up, Han simply shook his head as he reached for the fresh cup of caf. "Don't even bother, kid," he said bitterly as he brought the cup to his lips. "I saw the scores this morning and they blew it big time. I'm starting to rethink my strategy of scoring season tickets for when I get outta here. Who wants to see a losing team?"

He winced as the hot liquid traversed his throat and setting the cup down, he motioned with one hand to the stack of papers the kid had delivered earlier. "Anyway, those are signed. You can take 'em," he pointed out as he started to rise from his chair. "Other than that, I won't need you till after the meeting...if at all. Depends how things go." He winked at the kid and flashed him a lopsided grin before moving toward the door to check on Sonya.

Kalin had returned to his desk, perplexed by what Han had just said. What exactly did he mean? "I won't need you till after the meeting...if at all. Depends how things go." Kalin cringed at the thought of being fired. Lumiya wouldn't be pleased, and a desperate Plan B would need to be in place. Kalin sat idly as the Corellian discussed and checked on the secretary, before switching into intern-overdrive. Kalin acted as though he was joyfully busy at work, taking moments between scrambling at the computer and filing different sheets of information to glance over at their conversation.

Kalin knew he'd have to do some scouting, so he took a pile of the datawork, and left his desk. He took special attention to nod at the CEO, looking as frazzled, without going overboard. The job was to look important, and overachieving, not overwhelmed and sloppy. Once around the corner, Kalin deposited the busywork to the nearest droid, and artificial data-assimilation. There Han's signature would be processed and transmitted to the waiting vessels on Corellia.

Kalin clocked a new plethora of guards, something that would need to be taken into calculation. Two, had been added to Han's protection detail. Though the Corellian had preferred to travel virtually alone, they were always in the shadows. Since the glory days and Leia's term as Chief of State, the government agents had lingered and followed nonchalantly. Perhaps over the decades, the man hardly noticed them any more. Kalin greeted both of the new additions, explaining how much he had enjoyed working for the company, and the great benefits. He exaggerated how exciting the workload could be, and all the exciting places in the galaxy he had the opportunity to visit. His tactic, here, would be to bore them into submission. And sure enough, they made up an excuse, and departed the hallway. Kalin would have to keep this facade. Pacing the upper level he timed and took into account the additions and changes since the attack on the Jedi Temple. A warning had apparently gone out, that the Solo family may be danger, at least, that's what one of Han's private security officers had mentioned to the man's partner, while cruising the grounds.

Kalin had a knack of picking up side conversation, especially the stuff meant to be kept a secret. Though this piece of information was trivial, it allowed the possibility of a scapegoat. The Jedi had tipped, and thus, linked the Jedi Temple attack, to Han Solo's abduction. Kalin beamed, working ways to connect the two. When he finished his morning scouting, Kalin returned to his desk, the secretary looking more frantic than ever.

What had he said to her?!

Kalin needed to continue the bonding with the old man. Whether he liked it or not, the Corellian was key to everything. It would assist Lumiya in completing her plans, and ultimately, help Kalin along on his destiny to restore order to the galaxy. Peace was a strange defintion to the current state of the galaxy, and though wars have been small or ignored, the galaxy was anything but whole. It was fragments, and quite literally, ripe for the picking. Military channels have long talked of diminishing fleet levels and discharging a majority of army soldiers. The numbers had been high since the Clone Wars and with it, the skyrocketing funding it required. With over twenty years of "peace", they weren't even really needed. And for greedy senators, Moffs, and Alliance representatives, those credits could be used to fund their own private endeavors.

Kalin gathered another round of documents, this time, he needed casual conversation. Maybe even to one-up the favoritism the secretary usually gathered. Kalin noticed the score on the latest game played by Corellia, and several player stats. If he ran into any trouble, he could bark up some sport knowledge, that would hopefully, save the day. He collected another brew, adding a small ounce of Corellian flavoring. Maybe the guy would place it, but it didn't matter. A fresh cup was just another excuse to get into his office.

Putting the documents under his arm, he walked passed the secretary, and knocked on his door...

Han had entered the meeting with low expectations and a sinking feeling that everything would end in a giant brawl. It hadn't exactly ended in a brawl, but it hadn't gone perfect either. His executive team had agreed with his decision to sign over the company to Davad, but only after some careful prodding. They had been upset and perturbed with the idea of Han going behind their backs and making such a rash decision. Han had merely scoffed at the notion - it was his company and he had final say in what happened to it. Besides, he had always had a loose streak. They should have expected something like this from the very beginning.

With a weary sigh, Han shuffled a stack of papers to the side and reclined back in his chair. He was through with all the technicalities and proper codes the execs were always throwing at him. If it were up to him, he would be out of here later that afternoon. Unfortunately, things weren't that simple. His team had required an additional day or two to piece together a written contract for Davad to look over as well as settle any unfinished business. It was all part of the political game and Han would have none of it.

A steady rap at the door spurred him from his inner musings concerning the meeting and he glanced up at the door with a bitter frown. He was always getting interrupted at the most inopportune time. If he found out it was that secretary again...

"It's open," he rumbled in a low tone, just loud enough for whoever was on the other side of the door to hear. He was less than enthused and his expression said as much as the door slowly slid aside.

When he saw the kid, Lohden, on the other side, he managed a small smile, but nothing more. "You're still here?" he asked, reshuffling the papers sprawled out on his desk to make himself appear busy. "Don't you get a break?"

"Don't you get a break?" Kalin smirked, closing the door behind him. He extended the fresh brew, and set it nearby. Though Han's meeting was only minutes from being over, the way several of the board members looked while leaving, meant something was up. Kalin was sent here to do reconnaissance, and now, was the opportune moment. The Corellian was alone, and even here, he could probably plant some kind of object into the man, and seal the deal. But Lumiya wanted him alive. And that was tricky business.

"Funny you should say that, sir." Kalin let a goofy smile escape, "I was about to say the same to you. Meeting like that," He paused, "whatever it was, seemed to peeve quite a few people. But whatever it is, I'm sure you'll do fine. A lot of people in this company respect you." Kalin pulled from his experience serving on the Corellian freighter, "Hell, everyone on the Venri Island would follow you the seventh layer of hell, if you asked." It was meant as a pep talk, but Kalin could sense he was bombing. He retrieved the game scores for the afternoon, the Bucks had some victory in a pre-game which meant good news for the season. Kalin didn't really bother with specifics, knowing his window to get into the office were rather small. "This outta help, though if you need a perspective, perhaps from a young, smart guy like myself... I don't mind. I've been here for a couple of months, and really know the ins and outs of the company, sir."

The last part was a giveaway, more like a tease of foreshadowing. Han was just a boar and had no idea of the starving lion sitting across the table.

The kid was well versed in flattery and the longer Han had to listen to him ramble, the more sickening he became. When he had established this company, he had not set out to break records and impress the elite with his skills. It was something to keep him occupied on the side and it was only with a little luck, that it had turned into something more. Unfortunately, the kid wasn't quite grasping that concept. In the back of his mind, Han had to wonder what he was up to. He was being too nice for a simple intern. He wanted something.

"The ins and outs of the whole company, huh?" Han questioned, glancing up at the young man under raised brow. It was clear from his expression that he was skeptical of that statement. Setting the stylus down on the desk, he reclined back in his chair and decided to humor him. "Then I guess you'll know about my little announcement...you know, about me resigning and selling the company."

He turned back to his papers, pretending to shuffle through him as he waited for a reaction. If he played this right, that ought to bring the kid down a few notches. "That shouldn't come as a surprise," he continued, a small smile forming on his lips. "After all, you do know everything about the company."

Han Solo dropped a bomb. Kalin reeled for a moment, clearly this had caught him off guard. He knew Han was maybe looking for retirement, but not now... not when the company was doing so well. Solo was being sarcastic, a point Kalin would later make up to the old man, but for now, it was up to him to keep the charade going. Months he had spent learning the Corellian's schedule, even while away on some boring shipping mission. Kalin breathed, attempting to convey some type of humorous shock, when in reality, his mind was racing. "Um," He knew the board members were displeased, but this. "Actually, that does come by surprise..." Kalin sunk into the seat, adding a defeated look.

"You know, sir. I pride myself in doing the best work I can," Kalin needed to pull this off, even a little could get him a long way, "And when I learned the internship was sending me here, to Solo Enterprises, I revisited all the galactic history chapters of you on Endor. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Just the prospect of it all." Kalin slightly cringed when he made it sound like history. "You're a hero, in all forms of the word. I might be a kiss-ass, but I'm honest when I say that. I respect your decision, you've earned it." Hell, the Corellian deserved a break after years of public service... even in the glory days of Solo Enterprises rising to the top of the shipping sector, he had been known to lend a few hands and offerings here and there.

But this sudden retirement affected Lumiya's operations. The timetable needed to be adjusted.
"Who, uh, is going to be replacing you? Not that bastard Doxald Franks?" The board member was a jackass, and many wondered why Solo kept him around any ways. "Excuse me, if that sounded a little off sir."

A hero. Han had never prided himself with the title and hearing it come from the mouth of such a young man made him cringe. He hadn't gone into this whole thing looking to be a hero - in fact, it was the furthest thing from his mind. He had strived to stay far away from the spotlight, but that proved to be a near impossible task with Leia as his wife and now, his apparently well decorated tour of duty. Han pressed his fist lightly against the edge of the desk. Damn it all to hell! It wasn't just a sign that he had failed in his task, but also a blatant reminder that he was part of the past and only growing older.

"Who, uh, is going to be replacing you?" Lohden asked casually. "Not that bastard Doxald Franks?" There was a pause as the young man realized his place. [i]"Excuse me, if that sounded a little off sir."

The kid was bold and he did have a big mouth, but all things considered, he wasn't bad. In fact, maybe he was even starting to grow on him. Pressing forward with his hands now folded before him on the desk, Han issued a deep chuckle, now thoroughly enjoying himself and the kid's company. "No, not at all," he drawled. "I'd say that's a pretty accurate description. At least it tells me we're on the same page. But before I hand out anymore information, let's get one thing straight - don't call me 'sir.' You don't officially work for me yet, so you can use my real name, got it?"

He stared across the desk, studying the young man for a long moment with a hard gaze before finally deciding to divulge the rest of the information. "Now, you wanna know who I selected?" He scoffed, revealing a small smile as he shook his head at the reminder. "Ryan Davaad. Ever heard of him? He's from outside the company...runs some kind of droid operation out in Kuat. Heard rumors he has connections in the shipyards as well, but not sure if that's true or not. In either case, he's well-liked by the locals - that gotta count for something."

All right, Han.

The Corellian was finally giving some slack, and the job could be done with a little more breathing room. Kalin took in the information he provided, and recalled the name. The Davad man was well liked inside Imperial territory, and a legend in the financial district. Though Coruscant was open-minded to Imperial Corporate leadership, Kalin had doubts about subsidary companies on more Republic-enthused planetary routes. Still, it meant an Imperial was gaining a foothold into the New Republic's business sector, and with a leading company like Solo Enterprises, it could one day benefit Lumiya and her rise to reclaim a lost empire.

"I see," His voice paused, and he let out an expression to show his shock, "Wow." It was all he could provide. Even his best connections wouldn't have seen this coming. Most of the boys thought Anakin Solo would inherit the company, never had Ryan Davad even crossed the Rumor Mill. Kalin could sense his connections with the Corellian were fragile at this state, and he had a point, he didn't officially work for him. His position at Solo Enterprises was critical. He needed a time frame. "You are just as bold as everything I've heard, sir" He attempted to clear his throat to cover the last part, and corrected with "--Han. When does it happen? Probably not for a year or so?" In person, Han didn't look as old as he actually was. The childish joy he got from the shock-announcement left him in the ballpark his famed youthful personality and sharp wits.

Kalin attempted to act nonchalantly, but the fact was, this was do or die. If Lumiya learned he lost connections to the reckless hero of Endor, he'd lose everything. Kalin casually looked around at the desk, just for a moment did he glance at the pointed stylus. Gods, I can't kill him either. Why did you agree to sell, you bastard! Lumiya will not be pleased, she won't forgive me! How can I pull this off?!

The kid was shocked and confused; good. That meant he had done his job well. He wasn't trying to intentionally be mean, it just came off like that sometimes. At the moment, he was enjoying every minute of it and with any luck, it would get even better. Han was about to deal Lohden another blow.

He did his best to conceal a smug smirk, picking up the stylus from the desk and casually turning it about in his fingers as if what he was about to say was all in a day's work. "Wrong, kid," he uttered in response to his question on when the move would happen. "Let's try a couple of days. I set everything in motion this morning and my team are working hard to come to a solution - you know, something we both agree on. Unfortunately for them, I set a two day deadline. It might mean pulling an all-nighter or two, but I'm sure it'll be well worth it. And if not..."

He trailed off, only providing a little shrug.

A couple of days?! Kalin internally flipped out. He held a smile, though allowed the confusion to escape to his face. Solo wanted a show, and Kalin needed to give it to him, just not as shocked as he really was. "I see, Han. You're quite the shocker. How does-" Kalin trailed off, and the Corellian looked at him, as though wanting him to continue. This was going to be bad, and Kalin knew it, "Anakin feel about this?"

Kalin needed to say anything to slow the man down. Lumiya couldn't have been fully ready yet, or maybe she was. Was he just trying to slow this down? Was he ready to kidnap the greatest figure of the New Republic? Kalin breathed, not letting the anxiety spread and reveal his true intentions. It took everything he had not to freak out.

I figured this conversation would almost be over.

With only a few simple words, the moment was broken. Han's disruptive twirling of the stylus ceased and his expression hardened. His back became rigid in the chair as he blew out a heavy sigh. Things had been going so well between them and just like that, the kid had to go and ruin it. What went on outside the company walls wasn't any of his business - especially any issue pertaining to his youngest son. It was a complicated matter and no one - not even Leia - would completely understand. To think that this kid even had the nerve to intervene and pry for that kind of information set Han completely on edge. His trust was waning and it would take a hell of a lot to build it back up. The kid had essentially closed the door with his unbridled curiosity.

"Thrilled," he spat bitterly as he placed both hands on the desktop and rose to his feet. If everyone felt obligated to interrogate him like the kid had, then this was going to be one very long day. Going home after only a half day was starting to sound like a really good idea. Whatever he decided, one thing was certain - he needed a break now. All he had to do was usher away the kid...

"Look, don't you have some reports or something to be filing?" he suggested after a moment, waving one hand slightly with uncertainly. He started to cross the office to the door, hoping the kid would follow. "I think you've done enough damage in here for one day," he finished without making eye contact, no doubt referencing the whole incident involving Anakin.

He pushed aside the old-fashioned door with his elbow and stepped out into the corridor, ignoring the prying stare from the receptionist across the way. "Why don't you go bug Sonya? She could always use more help," he offered with mock innocence, concealing a small smile.

Of course, that would be no easy task. Sonya wasn't exactly the forgiving type. Lohden would have his hands full, but that was all part of the plan.

Solo's reaction had not been entirely unexpected, but it would make matters lean towards the worst. The secretary flashed an icy grin, no doubt reeling with bittersweet revenge. He would, without a doubt, be running dimwitted errands for the rest of the business day. But that was all right. It allowed him to get around, and find out what people were thinking. "Sorry if I, uh, hit a nerve in there. You are clearly the man making very capable decisions, without outside opinion. Hell, its why we respect you so much." Kalin tried to flash him a positive vibe, the best he could. The man seemed to take compliments, but where exactly they went, no one knew. They were probably shredded deep inside the Corellian's brain or twisted into some form of insult. Unless, Kalin had observed on more than one occasion at Solo Enterprises, the compliment came from Leia. He basked in it, and even flaunted it, like a puppy receiving a large bone after good behavior.

Leia Organa Solo was a target on Lumiya's list, but Lumiya had made it clear he was not to be around or even look at her. Her ability with the Force was supposedly mirrored to the legendary Jedi, Skywalker. The bloodline no doubt filling her veins with the unique gifts of which Lumiya tactfully displayed. Kalin had wished, in some form, that he had the ability to conjure and twist the minds of others to his advantage. Maybe he had, but he just had to work a little harder at it. Either way, he had to be on top of his game, if it meant an unexpected run-in with the Corellian's wife. Lumiya had taught him carefully how to conceal his intentions, but even then, it was never a full-guarantee.

Kalin dropped the stack of signatures Han had signed for him, before he turned to the secretary. Dramatically he tossed the the Galactic Civil War Relic a glance, like proving he was carrying out a punishment issued by a parent. The man was no doubt soaking every moment of his walk towards the desk, laughing on the inside as the secretary nearly squealed in delight. "About time I get an extra hand around these parts. Been workin' hard all morning, and it would best if you checked your slacker-attitude at your desk, and pull up a chair. We have over a dozen world contracts to overlook and shipping schedules to modify...." She droned on about some strange pirate attack against the First Fleet, and how security measures needed to be increased. Kalin groaned, not because of the rate she was speaking, but it meant his job was about to get much more difficult.

* * *

Kalin hadn't seen Han since their meeting, as the rest of the day tugged along. For nearly nine hours he had been occupied with the secretary demands, and finally, he was free. Typically, Kalin would grab a bite at the local burger joint and follow Solo's speeder home, but after the drone and psychobabble, he needed to rest and flip on the holovision.

The office building of Solo Enterprises finally came into view. Ryan had insisted the driver circle the building several times, he wanted to get the right feeling, before making his entrance. It would be the first time employees would see their new boss, and if the transition were to go smoothly, he had to make himself appear just as capable as the old Corellian. Han Solo had surprised the entire table by looking to sell, and offering the position. It was an honor, and he took it as such. And the employees deserved to know that.

But business was also business, and the economics behind the decision, paved the way for him to launch his new holo-communications network. The business deal needed to be closed in a week, if it meant he was to stay on schedule. Ryan moved with the sea of Coruscanti traffic, something he did not envy to experience on a day to day basis. When the speeder finally made contact with the VIP Guest Parking lot, he made his way into the building, in a slow, yet entirely collective walk. The images fell into his memory banks, the smells, the sounds, everything he possibly could.

The business suit he was wearing was tailored to Kuati standards, and it gave away his identity almost immediately. Rumors had no doubt already surfaced, and spread like a Mustafar wildfire among the coworkers. The blond secretary had garnered the attention of several of the office boys, all too young to handle her vibrant personality. Her charm would fail to penetrate the vows made to his wife almost twenty-two years ago, if she made an attempt to please by attraction.

"Good morning, Mister Davad. It is a pleasure to meet you." She was much more formal than he had assumed, making conversation easy, and contrary to his first impression, she did not flaunt her own beauty. She spoke of her name, position, and on the fact that he had arrived earlier than they had all expected. Ryan smiled, he liked catching his employees back home off guard, but something told him they already knew that. Smart bunch. Only one desk was left empty, and the secretary caught wind of the location his eyes were paying attention. "Sorry, that is Lohden's desk. Never had a sick day, postponed his start time by three hours. Some kind of family emergency."

Ryan nodded, it didn't matter. He wasn't much of a hardball any ways, but he needed to play the part to keep things working efficiently. The Board of Directors had not arrived, yet, but that gave him the advantage. As they trickled in one by one, they would be out of place, and hopefully, in a position to please. Of course, there will always be those skeptical and totally-against the deal.

Though a slight pay raise could do wonders...

Captain Baros certainly didn't fit the image of a man in charge of a major fleet within the ranks of one of the galaxy's most distinguished shipping companies. With straight, greasy hair that hung down into his eyes, a crooked nose and a light beard that was there simply to slim down his rotund face, Baros was a man more fit to live in the underworld of Coruscant than conduct professional business deals for Solo Enterprises. In fact, that was one of the reasons why Han had hired the man in the first place. It wasn't only about appearances - Han understood the man's background better than anyone and knew that only the best of the best could be found in the darkest corners of the galaxy.

Judging by the story Baros was now sharing with Han, it was clear that the Captain had put those skills to the test in order to simply bring his fleet back to Coruscant in once piece. But even with Baros' best efforts, the fleet had still suffered substantial loss and it would take months in the brig to even bring half of the ships back online in working order. That was the last thing Han wanted to hear on the eve of handing the company over to new ownership. It not only reflected badly on him, but it also suggested that perhaps his men and his company were inadequate to go head to head with the competition and win.

With a weary sigh, Han brought a hand to his face and pinched the bridge of his nose in obvious frustration before lowering it and staring long and hard at the holofeed of the Captain in front of him. He was silent for several moments - perhaps too long - and it caused Baros' usual tough demeanor to crack. The other man squirmed uncomfortably as he awaited Han to pass judgment.

"This is gonna set me back, Nil," he finally replied, his voice low, almost menacing as he addressed the Captain by his first name. He brought his hand up again to cup his chin in his palm. "You're telling me you have no idea who could've shot a few dozen torpedoes up your ass?"

The holo flickered for a moment, almost giving the impression that Baros was smiling. "Alright, Solo. Relax, will ya?" the Captain droned, raising his hands, palms up, in a gesture of defeat. "I did my best. It wasn't my fault that pirates--"

"No."

The man blinked, his mouth hanging open in mid sentence. "Err...what?" he stuttered.

Pushing himself closer to the holo emitter, Han gave Baros a knowing smile. "You're wrong," he stated bluntly. He had known what had happened even before Baros had contacted him and reported that there had been an incident. His advisers had sent him reports on the damaged fleet hours ago and he just wanted to test if the Captain would be honest with him or not. Either he was truly oblivious to what was really going on, or he was lying. In either case, Han was beginning to second guess his decision to keep him on the team. "It wasn't pirates. Not this time."

Baros' gaze hardened and a hint of anger darkened his features. "What do you mean...'not pirates?'" he asked threateningly, easing himself forward to match Han's previous movement. "I know what I saw with my own eyes, Solo. The were pirate ships. Every single one of them!"

"Yeah?" he challenged, raising his brow as he pressed something on the commpad beside his chair. "Get a load of this. I'm sending you the security feed we managed to salvage from the Turhaya before her systems overloaded. This should give you some entertainment for the evening."

The Captain snorted incredulously and simply stared back into Han's face. "Security feed?" he questioned, not being able to believe what he was hearing. "How did you manage..."

This time, Han couldn't keep from showing his satisfaction and gave the other man a wide, lopsided grin. "People don't tell me I have the best luck in the galaxy for nothing. They mean it. Plus, I know things." His smile faded and a dark shadow crossed over his face as he became serious once more. "I want you review that tape and write up a report by tomorrow morning...with the truth this time, got it?"

Baros' face scowled over the feed, but he complied with a sharp nod. He started to rise to his feet, the datapad containing the security footage tucked under one arm.

"I want it hand delivered to my office no later than 0900," he added with an edge to his voice just as the hologram figure of Baros disappeared from sight. A curse slipped from Han's lips as the hologram faded and only then, did he allow himself to slump back into his chair. The man would surely be without a job come tomorrow morning, but that was the least of his worries right now.

The recording he sent to Baros would reveal that the Empire had returned in full force. Numerous TIE craft could be seen at various points throughout the feed, which wasn't out of the ordinary for pirates to facilitate, the real deciding factor came when a close-up image of a Star Destroyer appeared on screen before it fired a volley of turbolasers at the ship and killed the live feed. Han had been privy to the attacks the Empire had launched on both Bilbringi and Muunilinst, but he didn't think they were so willing to go after civilian vessels this early in the game. If that were the case, they were all in trouble - big trouble.

"Why can't things go back to being easy?" he mumbled under his breath, running both hands down over his eyes and face. Not only did he have to deal with family issues pertaining to Jaina, Anakin and Leia, but now he had to worry about keeping his company afloat - in the short time that it was left within his hands - while facing the brutal might of the Empire.

Lohden had been monitoring Solo's transmissions for some time, and today, was the perfect solution to the problematic equation he faced at Solo's sudden retirement. His accessibility to Solo's office had allowed him a privileges even the Bothan Spynet were not accustomed to. Lohden rose from his chair, picking the proper moment, before entering the Corellian's office. He was widely unnoticed, it was large enough for Kalin to stall at the door. If he could persuade the relic to stay with his shipping company, it would so perfectly fit into Lumiya's plans, he'd be rewarded for sure. The Kuat kid had really stolen his thunder, and Han Solo breathing and retiring, wasn't helping his rise to favoritism. Lohden cleared his throat, barely catching the CEO's attention.

It all came down to this. Lumiya needed this to go perfectly, and if he failed, his head would be removed and placed on a pike as a deterrent against failure. Kalin felt nervous, his palms were a little sweaty. He brushed them against his pants and cleared his throat a little louder. "Mr. Solo, er, Han. I would like a moment, if you have one." He played his anxiety a bit, he needed to come off a little younger... a little more innocent. Solo wasn't a fool, but he placed faith in his men. Not allowing the man to answer, Kalin jumped right into it. "I think selling to the Kuati businessman is a huge mistake. Let me start off by saying... " Solo's expression... it terrified Lohden, in as much, he wanted to turn around.

Rejection meant Lumiya's retribution, and that could have meant death. "Uh, saying that you are smart man, and I'm one that hears and listens to things. It's all over the holo news. The Empire is back." Han might've opened his mouth to speak, but Kalin couldn't allow him to get a word in, not yet. "You're one hell of a guy, sir. I respect you. It's odd for me to call you by first name, just doesn't feel right. I don't feel like I've really earned it. Your crew, your staff. I'll be honest, they are overqualified in many positions they fill. They're not doing it for the money, they could probably get more somewhere else, but they stay there. They stay put for a reason, sir."

"They're good men, but they all see something more in you, than just a guy who organizes a couple of ships filled with boxes. You... you represent everything that we have. If it wasn't for you -" Kalin paused, he might've thrown in too much hero worship, he needed to wrap this up and bring it home. "Sir, I think if you needed a way to track the empire, you've got it. These men are willing to put their lives on the line. It would be an honor to them, to guys like me. You brought peace the first time around, now its our turn. If you sell Solo Enterprises... you lose that ability. How else could be effective? Don't answer that... I'm sure there are a bunch of ways, but you see what a huge advantage you have? You cover a lot of space... with a lot of... crafty pilots."

That was it, that was all that Solo was going to allow. He stopped breathing, he needed something, anything to let him know that he had a shot at pleasing Lumiya.
