Shen Velez entered the bridge of the Trucemaker, where he saw officers and station operators within. Their faces were bright and with courage, much like himself. They’d never seen combat, just drilled it every now and then. He turned to his left and spotted Admiral Gavin Darklighter bent over a holographic display. He uncontrollably snapped a stark salute to his commanding officer. Gavin saw the action and repeated it, then released Shen to his duties. He moved to his station at the front of the bridge to begin his job for today, to welcome and invite Gavin‘s new fleet additions to come aboard for a brief meeting. He took his station and stared out the window, waiting for the New Republic Task Force Beta-Nine and NR Infinity to arrive.

His ear twitched as he heard the doors to the bridge open once more, he couldn’t help but glance to it, where he found Janice Telsh enter. Her beautiful, dull red hair swayed slightly, her uniform made taught and crisp…her eyes glittering. He shook his head and returned to his station. He saw the faint light of a ship exiting Hyperspace, where he saw the NR Infinity emerge.
He grabbed his microphone and began his duties, “Captain Ferris of the Keldabe-class Battleship, Infinity,” he said, “Admiral Gavin Darklighter would like to speak to you as soon as you are able.

He waited a brief moment, then the Captain replied, “Aye,” Ferris said almost joyfully, “As soon as we fall into formation I will make for a shuttle.”

He watched as the Infinity began to form-up with the Fourth Fleet. For it’s size and age, it moved quite gracefully. He was about to close his eyes and relax while he waited for Task Force Beta-Nine to arrive when--
“Shen.”

He turned his head to see Janice tapping commands into the console next to him as she worked. She smiled slightly as she glanced away from her station to him, “How’s the day for you so far?”
Frak! he exclaimed in his head as he tried to think of what to say, Okay, what did she ask—Right!
He cleared his throat, keeping his gaze away from her, out of respect of course, “Good. Just some light duty today.”
She quietly laughed, shaking her head, “Not much of a talker today, Shen?”
He grimaced as she looked back to her screen, Shit! “Uh-Yeah, just had a bad night.” Now I’m lying to her? What’s wrong with me?

“Same here,” she laughed.

He was about to continue the conversation, before he saw Task Force Beta-Nine leave Hyperspace. “One sec, Jan.” Damnit! Don’t nickname her!

Commodore Tira Gaains of the New Republic Task Force Beta-Nine,” he said into the ship’s microphone, “Admiral Gavin Darklighter would like to speak to you as soon as you are able.”

Tira agreed and cut the line.
“Sorry about that, Janice,” he said.
She looked at him strangely, then replied, “What happened to Jan?”
“Huh?” Shen asked as he looked at her.
She continued to look at him, then with a smile she continued, “I like it. Jan, I mean.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, keep calling me that, kay?” she laughed.

“Sure.”

Jonathan closed his eyes as the transport finished the brief trip from the Infinity to the Trucemaker. He stepped towards the boarding ramp and stepped off and into the hanger of the Trucemaker, a CR-90 Blockade Runner fitted with a hanger. Due to his history in Rogue Squadron, Gavin had chosen to take his knowledge of fighter combat and tactics and implement them into his own ship. Or at least that’s what Ferris assumed.

He looked around the hanger, it had a squadron of fighters with mechanics working on them. B-wings, K-wings, Y-wings and classic X-wings were all parked within it. With several docking ports on the sides for four more assorted single-ships. Sparks flew from underneath several fighters and workers made fixes, repairs and modifications to them. He straightened himself and walked to a pair of durasteel doors. He pressed a button next to it and the doors hissed open.

He paced the hallways of the Trucemaker, walking the winding corridors until he found the bridge. He entered and saw Admiral Gavin Darklighter himself, a legendary Rogue. He walked closer to him, though just enough to get his attention. He snapped a sharp salute to his new Admiral, “Admiral Darklight,” he said, still in his crisp salute, “It’s an honor to finally meet you.”
