The crowd flushed with emotion, bursting into applause and cheers, as she finished the song. Fireworks shot across the stadium and into the sky, erupting into an indigo display. Her fans erupted again, Ann Berlin bowed for the last time, and exited the stage, shouting “I love you guys, good night” into the microphone, before rushing into the backstage ensemble.

A man’s fingers traced along her back, leading her in and out of the crew, and into a parked stretched hover-limousine. It was her friend, and bodyguard, Evan Locke. The sunglasses and fashionable attire eluded the fact he had served in two entirely separate militaries. His face could be broadcasted against any model campaign, versus being stuck into a pilot’s seat where only the stars would see it. He was a good-looking guy, but never seemed to take notice. “What are you looking at?” he had caught her stare, and instantly, she adverted her attention to a nearby window, “Your show was great, epic.”

Ann blushed; receiving compliments from Evan were rare, and often hidden behind dull sentences or phrases. He was more direct, one would say. “Thank you Mr. Locke,” she teased, “I was staring at you, because I do not see why you wouldn’t try for a model agency… you really are handsome.”

“I do not see the relevance,” was his overly dull response. Ann sighed, knowing the confrontation on this topic was more than futile. The limo ride was quiet for the remaining duration of the trip, as Evan wasn’t much of a talker, and Ann lacked the energy to maintain a constant barrage of questions, or suggestions.

“I want a Alderaanian Luna Shake,” she told the driver, and acknowledged that a nearby diner would suffice. Evan perked up at the mention of the stop, his eyes invisible behind his shades as he turned and stared at her. She wondered what the man was thinking, but one way or another, the two were going to get close and personal. Whenever she made a stop somewhere, things usually got out of hand…

The diner was tame for now, but it only took one to recognize Ann, before the entire district would be turned into a frenzy. Evan emerged from the limo, scouting the scene, before Ann emerged. Her status was unparallel in the galaxy, and instantly, several people went crazy. Screaming as hard as their vocal chords would allow, they rushed over.

"We should do this, quick." Even stressed the last word. He wasn't in the mood, especially after a show, to defend her against hundreds of paparazzi. She walked like the star she was, each heel slamming into the walkway as though it was nothing, her confidence peaking in both joy, and satisfaction. Girls screamed, 'Ann', 'Berlin', and 'I LOVE YOU', was another. Deities were coming into play know, the souls surrounding them, were thanking everyone in heaven that they were here, now, to meet and greet the superstar.

"Back away, let her inside." Evan only needed to state it once, his stature towering over the tweens. Several of them began to cry, the pushed-aside drama engulfing their minds with rejected delusions. When he first took the job, he cared, and even apologized, but now, things were different. He wouldn’t let another get the best of him, and slow their progress and lower his guard.

They finally entered the doors of the diner, instantly all attention was on them. Even the older generations knew who Ann was. He had no idea how she took it, the fame, the attention. Would it always be like this? Her walk to the counter was short, everyone simply stepping out of line, in shock and awe. With the Alderaanian Shake ordered, Evan could see the scene outside morphing into a nightmare. It would be near impossible to get her out. Ann kept her cool, signing and chit chatting with several of her fans.

“Adarlon,” Ann answered a question about where her tour was heading next, “I look forward to it, a challenge.” She was downplaying the challenge, as nothing could even enter her league. She was it, simple as that.

“Your shake,” they had upgraded the cup size to the largest. She thanked them kindly, and looked to him as though she was ready to leave. Evan approached the doors, the mass of people filling around them, as holo-cameras snapped rapid. Several entertainment sites were already at the scene, recording their departure. One man, Evan shoved a little too hard, but the photographer had exaggerated the push. It was likely to emerge as a new scandal, but Ann, for the first time in a year, turned to the fallen cameraman. She extended her hand, and assisted him.

Just meters away from the limo, the crowd pushed harder to get a comment, or a picture. Ann posed for several seconds, before taking several question. “Floofy,” was her first answer, and the second was, “Tatooine sunburn.” Opening the door to the limo, Ann jumped inside as Evan rushed to close it behind himself.

“That shake better be good,” Evan breathed, instructing the driver to take off.

The limo ride was quiet as they approached the space port, her boredom peaked at the waiting period it took before they could board the private shuttle. Evan carried in most of her things, but she packed lighter than usual. A trip to Adarlon would require a special shopping trip, afterall, she wanted the latest fashion and accessories before she even appeared to the public. And the best way to win the hearts of the Adarlon, would be to boast about their own lifestyle. The world was the entertainment capital of the galaxy, and some would even say it was Ann's pop paradise.

Being born and raised on Coruscant, Ann understood the patience needed for over a trillion fellow people moving about, but the shuttle pilot seemed extremely slow. Evan finished placing the last of the luggage, allowing her to rummage through one of the smaller bags to remove her Holo-Interactive-Device-E, HIDE. She accessed her mail, her network, talked to her friend Lillian and a band known as the Calamari Sharks. She was ready for the duration of the trip, but her eyes wandered to Evan's position. He was toying with his own communicator, and it occurred to her, that she absolutely had no idea who he was talking to.

"Your girlfriend?" she spoke suddenly, "I don't think I ever asked that question directly." Evan looked up, and their eyes met. Ann could tell he was amused by her assumption, as he leaned backwards and placed his hands behind his head. His answer was a complicatd, "It's a woman." Her brow furled at his general response, and before she could retort, the shuttle glided off of the hangar deck, and into the sky.

The stars were dim at first, the cityscape too powerful for the distant balls of fire and light to shine. As the shuttle rose higher, however, the battle of light, began to side with the tiny spectacles, their numbers increasing with each second. Soon, they were over the atmoshere, and dark space overwhelmed their vessel. The brightest was Corulag's system star, beaming gloriously in the distance. The moment right before hyperspace always made Ann's stomach roll, and twisted with fear that they would simply explode, and somehow, she'd be vented into space.

Quietly, she hummed to herself, as though nothing was wrong. The pilot counted the seconds, but she wished she hadn't known. Three. Her body twisted, her mind taunting her stomach with horrific images, and unfound fear. Two. Her fingers grabbed the edge of the seat, her nails digging into the fabric, while her eyes were unable to remain open. One. This was it. This was the final second, her entire body cringing...
