Summarized Biography: Although born on Tatooine, Nik’s family left the desert world behind when he was only a year old. They settled on Coruscant and were able to earn a fair living as shuttle pilots, but when his father was killed by a trainee at the spaceport Nik’s mother was forced to quit flying. As luck or the Force would have it, the district where they worked was in the same area as the Jedi temple, and she was offered a job as a courier for the Order. When the lack of a nanny-droid forced her to take him to the Temple one day, his Force-sensitivity was discovered by a Jedi named Master Nikola Tyris. Nik’s mother agreed to give the boy to the order, and disappeared soon after.

Nik grew up as most Jedi did within the Temple walls. Early on in his apprentice training he stumbled across his talent for healing when one of his friends broke their leg during a game of chase, due to Nik goading her to try and catch him. Feeling awful, Nik instinctively tried to repair the damaged limb with some small success, and from that day forward his teachers gently nudged him down the road of a Jedi Healer. He achieved his Knighthood after several years of being Master Tyris’ chosen Padawan, and served as one of the Temple’s doctors in addition to his traditional duties as a Knight.

After a year, he was transferred to the newly-built Academy on Dantooine, where he became the school's head teacher on medical uses of the Force.
