I have no idea what I'm doing with the wiki page, so you'll have to talk to either Moff or Cray.

At this point, I wouldn't be against taking it down to avoid further attacks until we can put something more permanent in place to prevent it.

I'm not on it anymore.

Though for whatever we have in there, we should have a thread that we can update.

Such as the timeline can be post. As with the Recent History. (With the timeline, if anyone wants anything added they just ask one of the CMAC members and they'll add it in I'm sure.)

And for whatever tech or ships players have made, put it in a thread called like, "Unity Technology" or whatever. So like player made ships and droids like IG-152 go in there, with their brief summaries.

That'd solve the bot problem since they wouldn't be able to edit posts.

I'm with Han as long as we can back it up.

Yes, but with having the timeline on the Wiki, that means you guys can update it rather than, say, the PNPC registration thread or the old map thread from VIII. :p

More substantial reply: I'm totally against putting stuff on the forums. I hate having to put static information on forums because it's so difficult to navigate between items and with large articles. So, let's not start doing that.

Just for the record, I wasn't suggesting that. :p

I was only saying maybe we should shut down the wiki for the time being to stop the current attacks. And then, once we have time, try to come up with a way to block out future spammers and keep it clean. Is it even possible to come up with something to prevent that?

I have a sort of captcha up now though it's not working quite right. If you confirm your email address you shouldn't need to use it, though.

I thought that was just a typo earlier, but I just looked it up and realized that a captcha is the protection thing on websites. :p

And that's odd that the bots are getting past that. They must really be determined to be able to break through security measures on a small RPG site.

Which begs the question: "For God's sake, why?" What could they possibly gain from this?

I mean, I'm not complaining; every now and then we get to watch Moff take a running leap off the deep end and hulk out on the poor bots. It's quite funny. :p
