Khoonda has remained even after it's establishment four thousand years ago, and has remained under the administration of continuing family members of the Adare name.

It is now a community that has grown from a simple spaceport to a medium-sized city of over four thousand members, multiple spaceports and plenty of places to travel to and visit. It continues to serve it's roots as a spaceport as supplies for the neighboring Jedi Temple come and go. It passed The Emperor's judgment many times, and as such the Jedi Temple remained where it was as a ruin until it was rebuilt after his fall, and the nearby Crystal Cave is still intact. Becoming one of the few places that still contain natural, non-synth lightsaber crystals, including: Purple, yellow, orange, maroon, red and the normal blue and green saber colors, as with a host of other color variants.

The Killer’s Fate II set down inside one of the hangars of the Khoonda settlement, it was larger than he would have thought. Being just a supply port for the farmers here. It was completely the opposite. It was a large city with active spaceports and people were up and about during the afternoon hours. It was an amazing feeling traveling like this. Having looked at the rolling hills and the expanse of horizon while they had flown over them. Elbow room, Badim thought. The two were going to spend a lot of time here in the fields and not locked away inside The Killer’s Fate II all the time. It was just what they needed. He had enjoyed the open spaces of Naboo with Clare, and wished she had seen Thyferra. There was enough time for all of that, and he was sure if they decided to travel to Thyferra Tseneca would send good word ahead for them.

He looked at Clare, plopping a pill in her mouth and guzzling down a hydration pack. The doctor had subscribed a week’s worth of pain killers for her, and she was told to take one each day and no more otherwise it’d send her into illness that would result in nausea, but nothing fatal with an overdose. Safety pain killers.
So she had five days of pain killers, and the bacta bag would be off in seven days. She wouldn’t be completely hale for two weeks after that, but she’d at least have the bacta bag off of her and able to recover naturally.
Badim sighed, she wouldn’t have to put up with this for long he knew. He just wondered how immense the emotional trauma had been for her. He hurt too, he had lost a child and the one he loved was in pain and anguish, but she was baring the thought that she couldn’t have children ever. She had to find her own way of recovery, and he’d be with her every step of the way.

The ramp lowered and H6 began to clank towards the cargo hold to hide. He was still an asset to Badim, but he also drew a lot of attention. Though on worlds like Nar Shaddaa, Tatooine, Coruscant and Ord Mantell, it didn’t matter as much. With softer worlds such as Naboo and Dantooine, it was best he stay onboard and he knew that.

Badim reached over and rubbed Clare’s shoulder, then noticed the chrono, “Let’s go get dinner. On Lucas.”

She smirked. She was coming back to him, but dinner was probably the last thing she wanted. The last one they had had together was on Bespin. He checked the chrono and clarified, “Linner.”
“What?” Clare asked. Turning her head in complete confusion.
“Lunch and Dinner abbreviated. Linner.”
“Very funny. Let’s go.”

Badim stood and the comlink clipped to his belt fell to the floor. Badim cursed as it clattered against the metal plating and finally settled. He reached down and picked it up, noticing something odd with the display, “Huh…”
“What?” Clare asked again.
“It says,” he looked at it again, getting a more accurate description and smiled, “Sara is within Khoonda.”

Sara was stunned. She hadn’t realized the…extent of the relation. She hoped it was just a coincidence, but things didn’t work that easily. Sean turned and moved into Khoonda, and Sara was left to fiddle with her comlink to distract herself. She flipped it on in case Sean found a lead and needed her, but until then she’d put the lessons Sean had taught her on investigating to the test. Then a name stuck out on the comlink: Badim Soilding. She did a double-take and gasped. He was here? Why wasn’t he on Nar Shaddaa? Why was he here? She tapped the connection and tried to contact him, but the information showed that he was… Ten meters away? Behind me?
“Sara!” Badim called and Sara whirled around. There he was, in a slow stride towards her, emanating relief that she could feel through The Force, now that she knew how to recognize it.
“What are you doing here?” She asked, “Weren’t you on Nar Shaddaa?”

“Was. Had a run in with Dirod--”
“Again!?” Sara almost pulled her training saber out in frustration, but it stayed hidden and out of view from the once white-cloaked assassin. For now at least. He seemed happy, emanating it as well as he approached and gave her a stern, warming hug.
“Don’t worry, I’ll explain over Linner.”
“The frak is ’Linner’?” she asked, cocking an eyebrow as Badim took a step back.

“Not this again. Lunch and dinner put together. Linner. But first I need you to meet someone.”

Sara nodded and followed.

Badim and Sara came upon the hangar which held The Killer’s Fate II, and H6 was outside despite Badim’s earlier thoughts of him staying inside and concealing himself. Though this was an enclosed hangar, so there was little to worry about aside from the random, and well un-maintained mechanics that rarely came in. H6 was working on the ventral quadlaser, correcting an error Badim assumed or perhaps adjusting the aim. Whichever would suit the ship better was alright with him.
Sara looked up at the Starwind yacht. She turned to Badim, to the ship again and back at him again. Pointing, she gestured the ship with an open palm with a curious look.
“The Killer’s Fate Two.”
Sara looked again, then let her gaze fall to the ground. The thoughts were coming back to her, he was sure of it. The brief adventure. The crash. Clare. She shook her head and turned to him while they walked towards the boarding ramp, “You look like you’re fairing well.” she smiled. Truthfully Badim missed seeing her, and he and Clare both had worried about her when they were on Tatooine. “I am. Was but better than I was on Mantell--”
H6 turned his head from the quadlaser and exclaimed, “Enthusiastic: Sara! What a pleasure it is to see you again.”

“Can I shoot this damn droid?” Sara whispered, though H6 quickly spoke up to her secret question.
Cautionary: Sara, I would highly doubt that you could withstand my robotic abilities and reflexes.”

Sara rose a hand, though she lowered it before she could demonstrate her abilities. She probably wanted to keep it a secret from Badim, though he already knew and had been preparing for it. Sara, a training Jedi. It wasn’t impossible, though he had to wonder how long she had been able to use this, likely her whole life. And that could explain the touch he felt in the back of his mind. Similar to the one he felt when he released her. Could he have been weak minded? He was still young, and he hadn’t been affected on Ord Mantell unlike Nar Shaddaa. So he was sure that disadvantage had disappeared.
“I’m sure you would, six.” Badim had forgotten that H6 hadn’t been told that Sara was Force Sensitive, and was going to get himself sliced in half if he kept up his bold attitude. Sara turned to Badim again, “So who’s this person I need to meet?”

Badim gestured to the boarding ramp, and the two ascended. They came to the lounge, where a cloaked figure looked over a blaster. Clare’s blaster. Clare.
“Look who showed up,” Badim said, sidestepping to allow Sara full view of the figure as Clare turned and slowly removed the hood of her cloak. Revealing her smile, her blue eyes and her night black hair that came just above her shoulders.

Clare turned around at Badim’s signal. Looking at a bewildered Sara with a smile that was visible from beneath the hem of her hood, then she slowly removed the enveloping fabric and smiled more broader than before to her friend. Sara gasped, wide-eyed and in complete disbelief. In a fluid movement, she rushed forward to Clare with arms open. Clare was about to open hers when she realized the bacta bag on her stomach and instead lifted a gentle hand. Sara slowed, then noticed the bulge and she closed her eyes for a moment. She opened them again and shook her head, coming and hugging Clare slower than she once had tried.

She felt Sara shiver, “You’re alive?” she asked, pulling away and looking at her with those questioning green eyes.
“You can’t feel me?” Clare joked, then patted her on the shoulder, “I thought you were a training Jedi?”

Sara’s eyes widened, “How’d you--?”
“Tseneca,” Badim pitched in, “She told us while we were all on Tatooine.”

Sara smiled and shook her head, “Figured she’d be the one who’d tell,” Sara looked at her, then Badim and back to Clare, “Where have you two been?”

Clare laughed, “For Badim it’d be Nar Shaddaa. For me it’d be Ord Mantell, Carratos, Atzerri, back to Carratos and then to Nar Shaddaa. We took a transport to Tatooine, then Hoth to save Lucas and then Besp--” her expression hardened, and she looked away, “Sorry. Bespin. It’s good to see you, but please excuse me.”

Clare briskly strode out before the tears came back. Heading to the bedroom to try and wash away the salted drops from her face, or at least mask it.

Sara watched as Clare left, a hand rising to her face just before she disappeared into the ship. Badim watched her as well, following his sights on her as she fled down the hall. Sara felt a pain in the back of Badim’s unguarded mind. Something happened on Bespin, and she hoped it had nothing to do with Jonas. Gods why couldn’t she forget him? She shook her head and stood next to Badim, the two watching a door down the hall hiss shut as Clare’s form vanished within. Silence filled between the two, and she broke it as she bolstered herself with The Force to ask, “What happened on Bespin?”

“On Tatooine, we found out Clare was pregnant--”
“That’s great!” Sara exclaimed, not enough for Clare to hear, but enough to express her excitement.
“Everything was going fine, then she was feeling pain and when we were on Bespin and having dinner with Lucas and Jonas…” he paused. Giving her enough time to find a little relief in knowing Jonas wasn’t apart of the sadness, “Everything was going fine until Clare blacked out after she experienced extreme pain. We brought her to the hospital and we found out her-our child was ectopic, and burst through her ovary. The child was already gone, and she was suffering from extreme internal bleeding. She has less than a ten percent chance of ever having a child again now because of the damage that was done.”

Sara froze. What? she asked herself. She walked over to the couch in the lounge, propped her arms against the head of it before collapsing on it. Her best friend was in ruins, and that explained the bacta bag on her stomach. What could she do? Be there for her friend or just let Badim take care of it? All she would be doing is flinging random objects everywhere if she stayed to comfort and support Clare. Though she could get expert training from Sean, or better yet the Jedi Academy here on Dantooine.
“The crew was shocked when they found out that Clare was pregnant and then wasn’t,” Badim looked at her, “Lucas and Jonas had found out already, Jonas might have picked it apart or something. Though, Clare wanted to wait on the announcement until you found out.”

“What?” Sara clarified, “Why wait on me?” emotions were wrapping around her, and they weren’t calmed or controlled with The Jedi Code.
“She considers you a close friend Sara. So do I. It was fitting. Jonas found out while he was delusional, another story, and he, Lucas and H6 were the only ones who knew. But she wanted to tell you first before she came out with the rest of the crew.”

“How could this have happened? To Clare?”
Badim pressed his fingers to the bridge of his nose, “I don’t know. It’s… A sensitive subject, for Clare the most. Give me a minute and we’ll grab something to eat.”
Without another word or acknowledgement he turned to follow Clare. Sara left in the lounge with her face in her hands as she processed the information. She felt the pain from Clare and Badim through The Force and she tried to calm herself with her meditations. It failed her, and her own remorse for Badim, Clare and their dead child came out.

Badim knocked on the door to the captain’s quarters, then after a moment he entered. He found the room largely undisturbed, except for the still unpacked bags. He turned to the refresher to see Clare looking at her wet and drenched face in a reflective mirror. Her eyes were searching herself, much like he had shortly after Clare’s kidnapping. She was trying to find a reason to motivate herself to continue on, and not become a depressed, slumped over person Badim had known all too well within himself. Badim came in behind her while placing a calm reassuring hand on her shoulder. She had been so connected with herself that she didn’t hear or see him come in, jumping while she spun around to meet Badim. He heard her gasp with a tinge of pain in her voice, then a sound of a plastic device hitting the durasteel plating below their feet.

He looked at it and realized it was his razor. He remembered he had placed it right where Clare’s hands were propped. Though when Badim made her jump she had accidentally gripped it’s blade and now the fingers on her left hand were bleeding. Nothing severe, but it was a cut no less.
Clare looked up at Badim with worry and shook her head. Does she think I think she tried committing suicide?
“Accidents happen Clare,” he bent down to pick up the razor and tossed it in the sink. Opening the cabinets to find some bandages and a small canister of bacta. Standard self-treatment items. He opened the top of the can, held Clare’s hand out over the sink gently, then held the open can just above the gash. Clare nodded, and he poured a small amount of bacta in her pooled hand, her fingers pressed together to hold the bacta in place. The quarter size drop of healing liquid impacted her hand and she grimaced.

He rubbed the bacta in gently, already seeing bubbles form around the gash. He took the bandages, carefully wrapped each of the inflicted fingers. They both sighed.
“Sorry.” Clare said.
“It should be me who apologizes.”

Clare looked at her hand then retrieved it from his grasp, holding it close to her chest. She was ashamed he could tell, she was an assassin and she hated showing weakness. If she weren’t already his, his only, he would have just stayed there instead of reaching for her hand, close to her chest. But she was, and he reached for the hand she had withdrawn. She resisted slightly, she didn’t want him to see her this way, but then gave way.
Badim rubbed the back of her hand in a soft massage, then Clare staggered forward and nuzzled into him while she wrapped her arm around him. Her other hand and arm pressed between them as Badim continued to rub. Badim grabbed a towel, pulled Clare off of him for a moment and dried her face and hair. Then with her good hand she grabbed a brush and began to comb her hair for dinner. Badim couldn’t help but watch her gentle movements with the brush.

* * *

Badim and Clare exited their room and went back to the lounge where Sara still waited. When they came in view Sara instantly stood and walked to Clare, embracing her in comfort. Clare smiled, at least they all knew not to mention Bespin at all in the future. Badim gestured for the boarding ramp and the three departed. Heading towards a small, family owned café in the un-equally large downtown area. The smells were nice and smelled delicious.
“So where’s this lightsaber of yours?” Clare asked playfully. In the midst of a crowd, though small like this, it’d be hard to pick out a weapon of that sorts unless someone really paid attention. So Sara opened her jacket and pulled out her lightsaber, but Badim knew that she’d be pretty stupid to try and activate it in this crowd. The cylinder looked simple, with only few features and an activation switch.
“It’s only a yellow training saber, but it can still deflect a blaster bolt or two.” she seemed unsure with that last statement, but shrugged and placed her lightsaber back in her jacket pocket. Stretched the crease and making sure it conformed to her again.

They entered and seated. It wasn’t an elegant dinner, since the times had changed so Badim had dropped the term Linner for now. Sara had a salad called The Works, Clare ordered a sandwich that had shaves of roasted and seasoned nerf with a slice of holed dairy melted on it. Badim just ordered some soup with a clam-like meat, caught fresh from the nearby seas.

The food arrived and everything was to order, and Sara’s Works turned out to be a deluxe salad with a large assortment of toppings. Her eye’s brightened slightly, “Better than the spicy Corellian food.”

“So where have you been since Naboo, Sara?” Clare asked rising from a slow bite in her sandwich.

“Corellia, Kashyyyk and here. Met Jedi Knight Sean Tavell on Corellia while we were both more or less drunk, where he wholeheartedly agreed to take me on as an apprentice. He was investigating the murder of his father, and it led us to Kashyyyk where I was able to talk to Shawn again.”

“How’s he doing?” Badim asked. He had forgotten he had injured him on Nar Shaddaa, a blaster bolt to the shoulder.

“He’s fine. Glad to see I’m out of the Shadowlands. Worried that the family secret got out and…” she paused and lowered her fork, keeping her hand near to continue, “I had a brother. My parents never told me, and he died when I was too young to even remember him. Ganner was his name.” she shook her head, taking a bite of her food before beginning again, “Found out a lead to where the assassin’s went—Here-- and left. Shawn is still on Kashyyyk, but he said my last name and Sean seems to know something about it, though he won’t shed any light on it just yet.”

“How was the Sarlacc?” Clare asked again, hoping to get a perky joke such as Cold, Damp and full of shit, but what came was completely the opposite.

“A bad memory. I-I don’t want to talk about Jon—it.” She shook her head again and ate to fill her mouth so she didn’t accidentally spill anything that was inside.

“Where’s Sean right now?” Badim asked.

“He’ll call me when he needs me, but a more important question is,” she turned to Clare, “How are you alive?”

Clare leaned back, eye trailing the table before she continued, “I was cornered at the spaceport on Coruscant, drugged and dragged away. Me being drugged played an important role in making the stun bolt make me completely freeze. I had blacked out, but apparently I had actually gone into a temporary coma and couldn’t move and barely breathe. They had medical equipment onboard so they brought me back quick, but I was already out and taken to Ord Mantell. The rest doesn’t matter, but it was a play. Jelahan wanted Badim to see me die, rejoice when he saw me, then see me die again. Feel the pain twice over he said…”

“It’s all in the past now,” Badim said, “We’re friends and together again. Like the original Fate crew.”

Clare smiled at Badim’s statement. They were friends, and still crewmembers from their original crew. Their meal was finished and the three opted to walk the town, it was mainly to catch up. Detailing what had happened between each of them in more depth than the dinner could provide. She had no idea who this Sean was, but he sounded like someone she should stay completely away from. He had already made an advance on Sara, one of which making her consider leaving the ship to get away from him.
“Come with us.” Clare said. Badim turned, but didn’t seem to disagree.
Sara stopped and looked at the two for a moment. Clare was confident in her suggestion. She wouldn’t mind sparring with a Jedi after all, when she herself was up to it of course.
Sara shook her head, “No, that’s okay.”
Badim placed a hand on Clare’s shoulder, “Come on, it’d be just like old times. Forget about the crew, Nico and Mycah for a while. Then, I’m not sure when, we can continue the fight--”
“Nico isn’t my fight anymore. Zend’s Empire is now. And…” her head looked around, then settled, “After what happened on Naboo, I can’t bring myself to face the crew, and Jonas after how I used the favor he owed me.”
“I understand,” Clare nodded, “It’s not like we’ll force you to join the fight or see the crew again. We can drop you off before we do. We’ll be here for a while. So think on it, the offer still stands.”

Sara nodded. Then her eyes narrowed on the path in front of them as they walked towards a park, more or less just a clearing with a name. The afternoon sun was nearing the sea, and the three gathered as friends to watch.

Sean was not doing so well. He wandered the city with his hands in his pocket for quite some time. It wasn't his finest hour. He was a mess. He knew that. He should have been more straight forward with Sara.... but more importantly, why the hell did he care? Who was she anyways, to judge him? She didn't know anything about him. Why did she get all.... well.... did she get upset? Ah, hell, he didn't know. Sean shook his head, clearing it briefly.

Sean began working on a plan of action. First, he'd head back to the starport, which he did. It was a short amount of time and small amount of credits later that he figured out that the assassin's ship, Dimensional Extreme, was in fact docked on planet. That was fortunate. Thankfully, Sean still had friends in the starport and he managed to get the ship effectively grounded. Unluckily, a brief recon trip revealed that the ship was empty. Slightly disheartened at this find, Sean nevertheless felt his blood begin to pound. He was on the chase. His father's killer was close. Very close, if luck was on Sean's side.

The next stop was a local cantina. He began asking around a bit, but it ended up granting him nothing. His feeling of dejection began to slowly sink back in, so he moved to the bar, leaned up against it, and ordered a drink. They didn't carry any good brandy, so Sean ordered the first thing on the menu he couldn't pronounce. Slowly, he began to sip it. It was some time and one drink later when an attractive blond came up next to Sean. She was a pretty enough things, though Sean didn't tend to prefer blonds.

"How ya doin, sweetie? Haven't seen you around here before."

Sean flashed her a smile. "Just passing through. Arrived a few hours ago."

"Well now, that would explain it." She cast a speculative eye over him. "You're not like a lot of the other men around here."

Sean laughed and then took another sip of his drink. He really didn't like it, but he'd decided on it and he'd be damned if he changed his mind now. "Don't get much Corellians here then?"

The girl laughed. It was a pretty little laugh, though rather annoying. Why was that? "Well, that could do it, eh?"

"Heh. Maybe." The two talked for a short time. The girl was hinting quite strongly that she'd love to see Sean's ship—and his cabin, though more specifically the bed—though Sean was, strangely, disinterested. It rather confused him, but.... well.... he couldn't explain it. At any rate, it was when the girl related that she didn't even need to see the ship, for she was only concerned in what could be done in one, that things got interesting.

Sean laughed at her comment and turned casually towards the door. He had to do a double take at who was walking in. It was the assassin. What luck. The two locked gazes and froze. The hitman's henchmen looked bewildered at their boss. The girl looked just as oddly at Sean. Sean definitely recognized the face. Sean also knew that he was a splitting image of his father, and no doubt the assassin recognized him. What Sean didn't know was that the assassin had an amazing memory and that he felt as though he was seeing a ghost... granted, a younger, bearded ghost of the man he had killed not long ago.

The two might have resolved peacefully and moved about their business, but Sean stood and began to move towards the three men at the entrance. The girl forgotten—she did not seem too happy about this—Sean strode purposefully and steadily towards his target. Rational thought was beyond him. Despite the fact that the cantina was well occupied this afternoon, there was a relatively clear path remaining between the assassin's and Sean.

Thus far, the three had remained motionless. Now, however, the leader pointed at Sean and said, "Blast him. What am I paying you two for?" As the two drew their blasters, Sean flicked his jacket open and used the force to call his saber to his hand. As the blaster bolts let loose, Sean's crimson blade ignited and flicked twice. The bolts were sent harmlessly into the floor. Sean sped up.

Worry now lining the leader's face, he shouted, "Run, you idiots!" and the three rushed from the door. Sean half growled half roared, seeing his target escaping. He sprinted out the door after them.

Sean burst out of the cantina. It only took him a moment to find them, and they were still on foot. Very good. He began sprinting after them, control slipping. He pulled his commlink from his belt and shouted into it, "Sara! I found him. I found the bastard!" One of them fired a blaster back at him, which he hastily batted away. She may have heard that. He didn't care. He clipped his commlink back to his belt as he wove in and out of the foot traffic around him. People were now screaming and running for cover, making the path clearer... but also making it easier for the three pursuees to shoot at Sean. He was skilled enough though that not one hit him.

They were in the nicer, touristy side of town. The chase led them through market places and souvenir shops. Blaster bolts were flying, and Sean cut through more than his fair share of obstacles to keep the path clear. He was reasonable enough, however, to avoid injury to the bystanders as best he could.

Despite Sean's advantages with the use of the Force, the three men knew the city far better than Sean and they used that to their advantage. They weaved in and out of alleys, through shopping centers, and down crowded streets. They would occasionally gain ground, but Sean would always catch up, never letting them out of his sight. Sirens began blaring in the background.

The chase was now running through a seedier part of town. If Sean had been paying attention, he'd have noticed that the glitz and glam of the tourist district now gave way to more run-down, industrial sections full of lowlife bars and warehouses. The authorities had caught up to the foot chase by now and had impeded Sean's progress more than once. The confusion was to the Jedi Knight's advantage though... the police didn't know who to shoot.

At one point, Sean's path was suddenly obstructed by a speeder shouting orders for him to let down his weapon. The trail was blocked. He couldn't lose them. Not now. Sean sprung onto the hood of the speeder, shocking the officials within, then flipped over it onto an awning above, slashing one of the engines in the process. From the awning he sprang to the roof and followed the three from there.

The path grew more roundabout. It kept cutting back on itself, looping back around. The shooting had stopped, and the police now had no clue where the four troublemakers were. Sean, who had dropped back to the ground some time ago, was finally rewarded for his diligence. The three slipped into a warehouse ahead of them and shut the door. Sean could hear the click of the locks engaging.

Were Sean more rational, he'd have paused to consider the possibility of a trap. He would develop alternative tactics to decide how best to infiltrate the facility. Sean was not in that frame of mind, however. Instead of an intelligent, thoughtful approach, he barreled towards the door, slashed it in an X, then kicked it in, hardly stopping at all. The door was not military grade. The industrial steel hardly resisted his saber, and the locking bars were severed just as easily.

Inside was a decently lit warehouse. It was relatively empty, save for some speeders, a ship in some state of assembly, and a few weapon caches. The three men Sean had been chasing ducked into a door on the far side of the warehouse, presumably a set of offices. Between Sean and that door were six men armed with blaster rifles.

Sean didn't stop. he didn't pause. He rushed forward, hardly losing any momentum from the door or the odds against him. The six men opened fire.

While they were no doubt skilled in combat, it became readily apparent that they were not used to combating Jedi. The Force served Sean well. He felt the blaster bolts coming, almost saw them. The first one to reach him was deflected back into the throat of the man that had shot it. The rest failed top go where Sean planned. As the remaining five continued firing, Sean danced speedily towards them, dodging as much as he deflected. The Force and his instincts guided him as much as his senses.

He reached the first man, who was trying to pull a vibroblade in favor of his blaster rifle, and used his lightsaber to slash him across the chest. The man fell, his vibroblade dropping to the floor. With a quick twist of his body and twirl of his saber, Sean sent a blaster bolt flying back at another man. He blocked another blast while he used the force and propelled the fallen vibroblade into the chest of a fourth man. With a twirling flip, Sean landed behind the fifth and slashed his back from shoulder to hip. The sixth dropped his rifle and fled. Sean sent a massive Force push towards the fleeing man, sending him sprawling into a weapons cache. He didn't stand up. Sean continued towards the door at his same breakneck pace as before.

When he reached the door, he kicked it in. He got a brief flare from the Force and flung himself aside as two blaster bolt came flying at him. He was a second too late as one burned into his right leg. He rolled to a crouch and deflected the next too. Then, with the help of the Force, his adrenaline, and the roaring flames of anger that now consumed him, he pushed aside the pain and rushed forward. In front of him were the two henchmen.

As he closed on them, one faltered and began to step back. The other brought his blaster top bear. Sean twirled his saber and sliced off the second one's blaster hand before twirling his saber to stab him through the chest. That one dealt with, Sean pulled his saber out and lunged forward, striking the fleeing man through the back. The second fell to the ground within seconds of each other.

There was only one door from here, and Sean could sense the assassin beyond it, afraid. As he should be. The scum. Sean kicked the door in with his good leg and blocked the bolt the came flying at him. He moved forward and blocked another. The third bolt, Sean deflected at the assassin's right leg. The man was standing in front of a desk and screamed as the laser burned into his leg. He staggered back to lean on the desk and began getting his blaster back in line to fire again, but it was too late. Sean had closed the distance.

With a flick of his wrist, he severed the gun into two pieces. In a fluid movement, his blade came down and severed the assassin's left leg completely at the knee. The injured man howled in pain and slumped to the floor.

Sean stood over him and looked down on the man that had killed his father. Since Jacoba's death, Sean had been relatively composed. He was able to shove aside the lust for vengeance and focus on the justice of it. He had been lying to himself. He wanted the vengeance. That was all. Standing over this ruin of a man, he could feel the bloodlust rising, consuming him. He wanted to kill him. He could kill him, in so many different ways. He stepped back a moment and looked on the once-proud assassin. How short a time did it take him to destroy this man so utterly and completely?

Finally, Sean decided to speak. "Jacoba Tavell was my father, you bastard. He was a good man. A great man. Why did you kill him, you wretch? Why!"

The man sobbed out a reply. "I was just doing my job! I have bills to pay. That merchant was sticking his nose where it didn't belong. People didn't like it." The man curled up, a new wave of pain and loss wracking his body. He grabbed his stump of a leg and began to sob. "Just... Just kill me! Get it over with!"

Sean paced back and forth now, anger gaining more and more control of him. This man must die. It was only fair. He took everything from Sean. Everything! He was a cruel, hard man. He'd murdered many. It was only just. Why should he not suffer as Sean had suffered? Death... death was what he deserved. Yes, Sean would do that. He would kill him. He always knew he would. That was the plan. Sean hid it well, even from himself, but now there was no doubt. The moment he had learned Jacoba had been murdered, Sean knew he would kill the man responsible.

As Sean turned to finish the task, he saw the broken man before him. Despite his fury, sympathy welled up in him... and disgust. The lessons he had been taught during his training came back to him. The words Luke spoke when Sean's master had been killed. This wasn't right. He couldn't do it. He wasn't like this. But... but he couldn't stop himself. He had to kill him. He had to. How could he not, he who had brought him so much pain? He had to die... it was only right... but it... it wasn't right....

Sean's leg cramped as the pain caught up with him. He sagged back against the back of a chair and became aware of Sara behind him. He didn't know how long she'd been there. He turned, tears forming in his eyes as his dilemma tore him to pieces. He was no longer Sean, the Jedi Knight, but Sean the small boy who lost friends and masters. He slid to the floor as his leg finally gave out, his saber deactivating and clattering to the floor, his head resting on his knees. In a weak voice, he pleaded. "Sara... help me..."

Sara, Badim and Clare sat on a bench together as they watched the sun set. Badim and Clare were in the bench itself, and Sara was on the armrest to the left of them, using The Force as best she could to help balance herself. The sun set, and then in the distance she heard several blaster bolts in the distance, but didn’t feel the touch in her mind. Nothing was directed at them and she didn’t call her lightsaber to her. Instead she with Badim and Clare turned towards the city, where a flash or two erupted and the distant sound of a blaster bolt sounded.
"Sara! I found him. I found the bastard!" Sean exclaimed into the comlink, then a brief crack, a flash of light in the city and a hiss as Sean’s lightsaber batted away a blaster bolt and the comlink disconnected.

Now Sara called her lightsaber to her, gripped it in her hands and turned to Badim and Clare, both of them holding their blasters with Clare’s figure hidden within her cloak to shield her from being detected with the bounty on her head. They both nodded, Clare from beneath her hood and loaded their blasters. Sara returned the nod and heard a snap-hiss. The two were taken back for a moment at how confidently she had ignited her lightsaber, the yellow blade casting lights that they had rarely seen from Lucas, Kyp or Tseneca. It had appeared as the sun had come out again with the sunshine blade, and their eyes adjusted after the briefest of moments and they were off.

Badim and Clare trailed behind, but they kept their comlinks on to follow even if they lost sight of her. Sara hadn’t realized, but her heart was pounding at the thought that Sean was injured or dead, and then there was a nudge in The Force. Sean? No, it wasn’t him. But, then she heard something else within her head, Run. She shook her head and ran faster, her world began to blur and she slowed her pace. Sara looked around and realized she had covered double the distance in half the time.
She could use this to get to Sean and help, and ran again. Her world becoming a blur in her eyes but clear in The Force. The city was in tatters, there were spraying fire hydrants, people screaming and running while Police tried to get a hold of the situation. There was no structural damage aside from blaster scoring on the buildings and saber slashes everywhere. A hydrant was in half and spraying people with water, there was a lamp post laying on the street but no one was underneath, and there were several people holding limbs with burned holes in them from deflected blaster bolts.

A police officer turned and saw Sara rushing through the streets with her yellow lightsaber ignited.
“You! Stop!”
She halted.
“What’s going on here!?” The officer yelled while he raised his hand to order his men to aim their weapons at her.
“Jedi Business! That man is highly dangerous and needs to be stopped!” she could actually be referencing to either the assassin or Sean, and what she would find at the end of the carnage would prove which was true.
“Damned Jedi,” he lowered his arm, “Always thinking your high and mighty against us normal folk don’t you?”

That stung Sara a bit. She wasn’t normal, not anymore. But she could easily deal with these officers, and she knew that she had the power to control it. Sara disengaged her lightsaber and boldly strode to the officer, “I used to be normal, Officer. Until two frakking weeks ago. I didn’t ask for these powers, I don’t give a damn about the Jedi, but I will stop one that is going barvy over vengeance,” her voice turned stern while the officer’s face did as well, but he’s emotions were showing he was lightening up, realizing she had been thrown into this and had once been normal, “So I suggest you stand out of my way, and let a Jedi deal with another Jedi.”

The officer’s face turned cold and scoffed. Sara took that as an acknowledgement, reignited her lightsaber and jumped over a police speeder in a Force assisted leap. She followed the carnage, the damage averaging out from the initial attack zone to a warehouse as she heard a single blaster bolt ring out. Sara grabbed her comlink, “Badim. Clare. Get back to The Fate. I’ll see you two later.” she keyed it off. With the condition Clare was in, though in combat readiness, was still weak from her surgery. She didn’t need to be brought right back into the action.

Sara entered through the front door, cut and sliced open by a lightsaber and inside she found remains of six guards. Some whole, others not. She continued with her lightsaber sending a yellow hue throughout the room, looking on to see a kicked in door with two bodies inside. One with half a blaster in his hand and a hole in his chest. The other with a slash down his back.

She looked further in the room to see Sean slump to the floor and she came up behind him. He looked at her, eyes tearing, his emotions heavy and in several different directions. His thoughts in confusion. She looked at the man in front of the desk, clutching a severed leg and she almost gagged. She’d have to get used to that fact of a lightsaber.
“Sara… help me…” Sean pleaded below her. Sara looked and saw the blaster wound in his leg, then back to the man. She pulled her blaster out. This man had the Nine Corellian Hells to pay, but he’d serve it. Sean couldn’t kill him because of his vengeance, and she had heard somewhere that killing a prisoner wasn’t apart of the Code of the Jedi. She heard the Code of Old from Sean, there was no such rule that she had heard. Not that she had learned yet that is.
“I am going to quote a friend: No One Deserves To Die. Except For Those Who Do. And you,” she trained her sights on his chest. The man squirmed and she used The Force to steady him, “Deserve To Die.” She hissed.

With a flick of her finger, switched firing modes and fired. The man falling into unconsciousness. He deserved to die, but after punishment had been served to him.
Sara turned to Sean and disengaged her lightsaber, clipping it to her belt now that she was revealed to be the wielder. She knelt next to him, just as the officers came in and trained blasters on them.
Sara pointed to the unconscious man, “That’s the man you’re looking for.”
The guards surrounded the man and they assured her and Sean they’d keep the Jedi here on Dantooine involved with the case as it progressed. Thus letting her and Sean keep up with the man’s trial.
Sara grabbed Sean’s arm and began to tug with care and worry for her injured trainer, “Let’s get out of here. These normal people can take care of it from here.” She snorted to the lead officer while she did.

Badim and Clare returned to The Fate without causing alarm or doing anything to arouse suspicion from the authorities. Badim was relieved when Sara called them off, a stray blaster bolt from whatever assailants could have hit either Clare or himself, which either case would be bad. He didn’t care if he took a blaster bolt for Clare, but if she was injured anymore than she already was, he wondered if he could remain sane in another hospital.
The two entered and quickly answered a Query from H6 who, from the influx of authorities, had hid inside at the first sign of unrest. Though H6 was an IG-152 and not illegal, many considered the line illegal by default due to it’s roots.
Badim pressed a button at the top of the ramp and made sure it locked into place. He turned off the lights in the cockpit and shut the door to the access tube. Anyone passing by would think they were asleep and had nothing to do with the situation. Which hopefully would mean at first glance the authorities would dismiss the Kuati Pleasure Yacht and move on.

Clare tossed her cloak off and tossed it casually in the lounge, barely hanging onto the once empty caf table inside. They had shed their shoes and were walking on the carpeted floors as environmental settings detected their presence and began to slowly warm the floor for their comfort. This wasn’t a ship or a yacht, it was practically a five-star pleasure hotel. Lucas sure knew how to pull strings. He’d have to once again sincerely extend his thanks to Lucas when they finally returned.

Clare returned to the cabin while Badim went to the cargo hold. H6 was stacking crates in various locations, cover as he had put it in case they had to use the hold as a fallback position should anyone try and board the ship.
“You’re being paranoid, H6.” Badim said, moving to grab a vibroblade and begin his recital of The Way of the Blade.
“Mind if I cut in?” Clare asked, plopping her second pain pill in her mouth and guzzling a hydration pack, tossing the crinkled remains at H6. He caught it and sighed, exiting the cargo hold to dispose of it.

Badim exhaled his own sigh, “Not right now. You still need time to recover Clare. It’s only been two days since the operation.”
“I’ve taken worse hits.” Clare said as she stepped through the hold to grab a vibroblade and Badim caught her wrist.
“Those were skin deep. This is deeper than that.”
She wrestled her wrist out of his hand in frustration, and continued to reach for the blade. “I know my limits. And this is well below them.”
“Not tonight.” Badim said, grabbing her shoulder and spinning her around. She already had the blade in hand, but held it there in case Badim changed his mind on the sparring. He wouldn’t.
“You really think you know what’s best for me right now?” Clare snapped, “I thought you understood because we’ve shared so much together. Our careers, our experiences, our bodies.”
“I thought you understood when it was time to not take risks.”

Clare gritted her teeth, hearing a clear snap as she clamped down on them, “I. Am. A. Frakking. Assassin. I take risks all the time and this is no different.”

Badim considered. But didn’t shift gears, she needed to understand the condition of her body right now, she could barely move without removing the bacta bag or damaging herself even further. She was denying that she wasn’t still in shape to do these things, but she needed to understand.
“This is completely different Clare. One false move and your wound could reopen and cause more internal bleeding. And I’m pretty karking sure Dantooine wouldn’t have the resources to patch it up. But if you want to take the risk on bleeding to death internally. Be my guest.”

Clare’s eyes fired, the vibroblade was in her hand, she lifted it up and slammed it to the ground, keeping her eyes locked to Badim to express her discontent. “Grah!” she exclaimed and stormed back to the cabin and heard the door hiss shut with force. Badim put his vibroblade back on the rack as with Clare’s. He’d need to keep his distance for a while, but she needed to understand that he did care for her wellbeing, even if she didn’t believe it right now.

The door hissed angrily behind Clare as she stormed into her cabin. Badim could frakking sleep outside for all she cared and locked the door behind her. She was fumed, she knew her limits. She could handle sparring with the man she loves without ill effect to her. All she wanted was to be with him and he turned her down in the feeble excuse of her own wellbeing.

She stripped of her clothes and felt the weight on them vanish, dressing into fresh night clothes for the night. She flung the sheets of the bed aside and covered herself, reaching out with an arm and turning off the lights. In the dull silence she felt her body warm as her fuming built in her body and irritated her. She rubbed with her hopefully cold hands to cool herself, but wherever her hands passed, the area heated more.

She sighed. She knew she was right. She could handle the sparring she knew. Maybe she wouldn’t be this angry right now or in this situation if she had just pulled the trigger for Candrog. She rose a hand to her mouth and covered it. Why would she even think that? She was far better off now than she was under that alien's control. It was just a fight, she knew her limits and could feel within her body as much as Badim can for himself. Clare just had to keep the bacta bag on to insure there wasn’t a grotesque scar from the surgery.

She was still pissed. They hadn’t sparred together since their time on the original Fate, and she’d at least want to see how they would both fair if she used her full potential in those matches and who would victor.

Clare was calming down, but she was so exhausted from the anger that she didn’t bother getting up. She'd see him in the morning, and if Badim needed to talk to her, he can do so in the morning too, or have H6 hack the door open if he were desperate enough.

It was the middle of the night six hours later, and Badim couldn’t sleep. He was regretting having turned Clare down, making her feel the way she did. Angry. Discontent. Upset in every way. She’d certainly get the sparring she wanted, just after she was well again. He smiled at how that duel would turn out, since on The Fate it was pretty obvious now that she was caging her top potential to catch him off guard. Make him think that she wasn’t a threat, then she would strike when he let his guard down. Which in a way she did on Denon, but not for the wrong reasons.

Badim lifted himself off the couch and rubbed his eyes of the sleepiness. Hearing the faint brush of carpet being disturbed from the hall and lifted his eyes to see Clare, in her simple white tee and blue shorts. The only obvious addition to her appearance being the bacta bag still surrounding her incision. Her hair was frazzled a little, probably from just getting out of bed herself. Her blue eyes surrounded by faint black rings. Her smile soft and worrisome.
“Couldn’t sleep?” she asked, slowly moving towards him in tired steps. When she finally crossed the distance she sat next to him and they both resisted the urge to lean on each other. For now at least.
“No. I’ve just been thinking about what happened.”
“So have I.”

They both looked at each other, “I’m sorry.” They both said, and Clare’s smile became less worrisome, and a smile crept across Badim’s features in response.
Clare leaned into his shoulder, letting out a yawn with one from himself quickly following in it’s wake. Badim laid down on the couch and Clare came with. Her vanilla smelling hair covering his neck as they both could finally get some sleep.

But before he passed out entirely, he said, “As soon as you’re well, we’ll duel. I promise.”
“You better,” she said groggily, then all Badim heard was her sleepy breaths and the slow rising and lowering of her chest, Badim’s arm wrapped around her to make sure she didn’t slip off the couch.

Badim saw H6’s orange photoreceptors in the dim hall and said, “H6. Dim the lights further and set the room’s temperature to a comfortable degree,” he looked down at Clare’s sleeping form, “And get a blanket for us please.”

Acknowledgment.”

Sara woke in her bed and checked her Chrono. It was just about day break in Khoonda and it was ten forty-eight on Coruscant. She remembered what had happened the night before, and groaned at the thought of her lightsaber hilt. Now that she looked back, it was horrible. She’d scrap it when she got back to the Hound later. But until she could make a proper hilt, she’d have to use her plain training saber as a temporary replacement.

Speaking of which, she gestured and her saber impacted her palm, inspected it and set it on the bunk while she dressed. She pulled off her black night shirt and grabbed a brown shirt from the closet, warm around her torso yet sleeveless, she pulled it over her head and zipped it all the way up to her throat.
Sara reached into the closet once more and retrieved a white, accented vest, sleeveless also and slipped her arms into the armholes. She buckled the brown belt and buckles and flared the collar.

Sara pulled off her shorts, black also, and pulled up a pair of brown, slightly form fitting jeans. She’d still be able to move with them in combat and tested it out by stretching each leg to her own full capabilities, trying several combinations to make sure she could move freely. She could and then moved on. Calling her blaster holster to her and strapping it to her left leg, then her lightsaber and clipped it to her right hip.

Now all she was missing were a good pair of black boots and gestured her boots to her, tied them on and then called her black fingerless gloves to her. She slipped her right hand into one of the pair, then grabbed a long sleeve of leather and slipped it up her left arm, ending just above her elbow and then pulled her left glove on. Lastly she grabbed the black leather jacket from Sean and looked at it, then used The Force to place it back in the closet. Reports she had heard suggested it was going to be pretty warm today in the Khoonda area and she didn’t want to be roasting today, and decided not to wear it today.
Expand

Sara looked at herself in the mirror, not a bad outfit. She exited her room and looked at the door to Sean’s cabin, closed and locked. She sighed, then quickly knocked on it, “Meet you outside.” She said, hoping he was awake inside to hear her.

She lowered the boarding ramp and checked the area. She was relieved they didn’t get any bad press from the night before with all the crazy Jedi Business, if she could really call it that. She went to a nearby bench in the open canopy hangar, resting in the morning sunlight and meditating while she waited.

Sean was vaguely aware of Sara trying to wake him up. It took him a good while to actually stir. Once he did, he rolled out of bed and checked the chronometer. He had not been asleep all that long. He left his cabin and noticed Sara had left the ship. That worked out well.

Sean hobbled down to the fresher. His leg was far better, but still a little hard to walk on. Once inside, he cleaned himself up, shaved all but his goatee, combed his hair, etc etc. When he was done, he walked back to his cabin, a towel wrapped around his waist. Once inside, he dressed in his usual clothes. Lastly, he pulled his jacket over the whole ensemble.

He moved down to the Cargo hold and unsealed it. once inside, he grabbed Sara's near-finished saber and tucked it into an inside pocket. He picked his saber up from the work bench and tucked it into its hiding place. Confident he was ready, he moved to the boarding ramp and went out to meet Sara. She was settled down meditating or some such. As he limped his way towards her, he said, "Hey, beautiful. You ready?" He had no idea how long he'd been.

Sara’s awareness was elsewhere. Feeling the world around her like she could never have done on the other worlds she had visited, and she hadn’t been able to on Naboo because she hadn’t fully tapped into The Force yet, though it would likely feel the same as here on Dantooine. Alive. Full of life. She could feel around the spaceport, though only in a way as knowing that people were there. More like a cloud of walking energy than an exact beacon, distorted due to her still developing abilities.
“Hey, beautiful. You ready?” Sean asked, and Sara opened her eyes with a snort.

“I already told you my name is Sara, unless you’ve forgotten since last night.” she unfurled her legs and stood straight, “The Crystal Caves are to the north, right?”

Sean nodded, “It‘s not far from here actually, just a half-hour walk from here.”

“Let’s get started then.” Sara tried to resist a grin, but the thought of getting her own lightsaber, a real one, excited her and a grin appeared anyways.

* * *

Sean and Sara came to the entrance of the crystal cave, on the way over Sara had noticed a Kath Hound in the distance with a mate as they moved across the plains towards their pack. Khoonda was safe from such attacks with the automated defenses. And after years the indigenous creatures have learned to stay away. It was peaceful here in the early morning, and she could see the manta-like Brith flying through the air as though it were in water. She couldn’t help but appreciate the life here on Dantooine, and then she turned to the dark, hollowed out cave entrance before her and Sean. She could hear a few shrieks inside, similar to what she had heard in the Kashyyyk Shadowlands from a kinrath. Nothing a blaster couldn’t fix, and she was going to get her full lightsaber today.

She nodded to Sean and she walked in, Sean following close behind.

The crystal cave was dark, like usual, at the entrance. Sean too had heard the kinrath inside. he hated those things, wished they would just die. Numerous efforts had been made to eradicate or relocate the population, but thus far there had been only marginal amounts of success. His last stay here Sean had also tried to shrink the population some. While he succeeded to an extent, he almost died from the encounter. It didn't leave him with happy memories.

Sean moved in front of Sara as the two made their way in. The screeches of kinrath continued and grew louder until they stopped. Sean paused, motioning for Sara to do the same. After a moment of silence, there was a louder screech, made up of many voices in unison, and the sound of the kinrath rushing towards the entrance. Around a bend in the tunnel came maybe fifteen or so kinrath, nine in front and maybe six lagging behind as a separate group. Sean was afraid this would happen. He pointed to the group in the back then turned to Sara. "See if you can't handle them. I have these guys up front." With that, Sean limped forward and took a stance a little ways in front of the rushing Kinrath, drawing his saber and igniting it with its customary snap-hiss.

The Kinrath in the first group zeroed in on his lightsaber and charged in an uncoordinated mob. Sean waited patiently. With his leg injured, there would be no out maneuvering them. He'd just have to be a better fighter, which he was sure he was. The first one reached him and jumped, lashing out to poison Sean. The Jedi shoved it aside with a sweep of the Force before twirling his saber and slicing it in half as it passed him. With a quick twirl of his saber, he brought the blade up and completely through another kinrath that moved to fill the first's position. A third moved in on him, a little more cautious than the last two, as other caught up and began to flank Sean. Sean lashed out, slicing off the kinrath's head... or what passed for one, at any rate.

A slight flare in the Force was all the warning he needed. He twirls around, pivoting on his left foot, and brought his saber clean through a fourth kinrath that was advancing on him. It only severed about halfway through, but did its job. Another warning, and Sean turned to his right and sent a kinrath flying against the wall with a Force push. He continued the spin and brought his saber down diagonally through his fifth kinrath. Sean jumped forward narrowly avoiding an attack from one of his opponents, and rolled as he hit the ground and slashed a kinrath's legs off as he passed. He then impaled it through the chest as he got to his knees.

He barely got his saber out of the corpse before another kinrath jumped at him. He brought his arm, which was down towards the ground, up and slashed the Kinrath, using the motion and the creature's own momentum to throw the corpse behind him. The next one moved towards him, wary of the great predator it faced. Obviously, what little it was able to think didn't think he'd be this tough. The two were at a standoff for a moment, Sean still crouched, the creature motionless. When at last it moved, Sean was ready. The kinrath lashed forward, shooting out its poisonous barb. Sean slipped aside as the poisonous appendage shot harmlessly past. He brought his saber up through the stalk, leaving the now severed head to go flying, and then twirled his saber to slash through the body for good measure.

Sean eyed the battlefield warily. There was still one more, the one he'd sent into the wall. His eyes zeroed in on it, a large and pointed rock protruding from its body. Wouldn't be standing after that. Sean himself stood, gritting his teeth as the muscle in his leg flared with pain. Obviously it had yet to heal. He then looked around to see if Sara needed any help.

Sara lifted her hand up and sliced the poisonous appendage that had tried to poison her clean off with her humming vibroknife, using her newfound and still shaky ability to augment her speed and increase the force and damage done. She heard the kinrath reel in pain while the rest of it’s body reeled with it. She felt something touch her mind and she spun around with her blaster pointed, she sidestepped to dodge another appendage and closed the distance with the next kinrath.
Her blaster shoved between the creature’s eyes, she saw and felt the kinrath become confused before all thoughts ended with the pointblank pull of her blaster pistol.

She sleeved her vibroknife in the brief, two second lull in attacks and drew out her other pistol. She had gotten the duel blasters at the same time in Depatar on Genarius while she was on the run from Badim and Dirod, of which was useless running and blind fear now that she looked back.

Duel DC-17s, pointed away from her sides; aiming and shooting at the closing pair of kinrath. Her first shots deflected off, but then after a few more hits, and two lucky if not Force assisted shots to their heads, they fell dead.

Sara felt, more or less heard the fifth of six kinrath charging at her from behind. She dropped her blasters and used The Force to draw her vibroblade once again. If it hadn’t been for her newly Force augmented speed, she would have been impaled by the poisonous appendage and died a slow painful death. But that didn’t happen, and instead her arm flowed over the outstretched limb and wrapped around the middle, then brought her vibroknife down on it with a full downward swing.

Green blood spewed out of the crudely cut stump that used to be the base of a limp. More blood pumped and splattered the walls but didn’t catch her at all as the wounded creature ran back into the depths of the cave.

The final kinrath appeared before Sara and with a gesture, her training saber came into her hand and ignited with the blinding light of it’s yellow blade. The sudden surprise scared the creature into submission and scurried after the fifth she had disabled.

She made a dull smile and disengaged her lightsaber; looked around and saw Sean had defeated his portion of the kinrath. And she strode towards him. He was limping more than he had been. The combat, though fairly stationary for him, had caused a few close calls and he was forced to move at times, so that impaired his healing and he was limping again.

He rested an arm on her shoulders and she made sure he didn’t collapse while they made the final stretch to the crystals. Her comlink bleeped, having received a message. She picked it up and realized that she had a poor signal and was amazed that she got anything from outside the cave. The message was from Badim and read:

"Sara,
Clare and I are going to Naboo. It was good to see you again and we’ll see you in the Galaxy somewhere, I’m sure.
May The Force Be With You."

She smiled and clipped it to her belt again. Looking up to see the magnificently glowing room of the crystal chamber.

The few kinrath that were in here abandoned the portion of the cave in fear of death. Which was good, she could work in peace and quiet. Sean leaned up against a stalagmite and Sara strode forward. She searched, using The Force to the best of her abilities to find a crystal that felt right. One seemed to call to her and she went to it.

It was yellow, glowing a little brighter than the others around it. It was small, the perfect size and required little shaping to fit in her training saber. Sean had brought with him and given Sara four pieces of cloth, embedded with grains of sand with varying coarseness for grinding and polishing.
She brought out a hammer and chisel that had also been brought along and pecked away at the rock until the crystal became free.

She held the crystal up and began to grind away with the coarser of the four cloths, getting it down to a rough shape and continued the procedure until she had a polished gem. She held it between her forefinger and thumb, marveling at it through the natural glowing light of the chamber.
Sara gently set it down and began to dismantle her training saber, removing the primary crystal and ready to insert her new one inside, tweak a few settings and get herself a full lightsaber.

Sean had settled down across from her as she worked, legs crossed, letting his wound heal and recover. She was slow, meticulous, and did good work. Sean had felt no reason to watch her, so he closed his eyes and meditated for a long moment. He felt the life around him, the breeze, the Force thrumming in the cavern. It was a living place, one of the few like it left in the galaxy, no doubt. It was a sanctuary, of sorts... kinrath aside.

When Sara was finished, she began dismantling her training saber. Without opening her eyes, Sean said, "A Jedi's first saber shouldn't be so plain. It's a major thing."

"So what do you suggest?" she responded. "That I use that piece of...slag back at The Hound?"

"That is precisely what I suggest."

"Look," Sara said, a little impatience creeping into her voice... and frustration, maybe, as she looked down at her saber. "I don't know about you, but I think I'll deal with this plain hilt than what I have at The Hound."

"And what's wrong with it?" a slight smirk crept onto Sean's face, his eyes still closed.

"Because, well, you saw it. It's crap. It's a project, something I might scrap and try again someday." She continued to dismantle her training saber. "But if me getting a lightsaber today means a less flashy looking hilt, then I'm okay with it."

Sean's smile broadened ever so slightly. "Nonsense. All it needs is the touch from the hand of a master." Without waiting for a response, his eyes still closed, he reached into his cloak and held her finished hilt out to her, quite nonchalantly.

Sara looked at Sean. She was getting frustrated. She didn’t want to use what she had made in The Hound as he had been suggesting. Sure, it wasn’t plain but it looked horrible. She knew that, Sean knew that.
But then her eyes fell on what he held in his hands. It was her lightsaber, the one she had made. Polished, cleaned and all around what she had tried to envision while making it the night before. But her family crest and seal was on the back of it and she was so amazed she hadn’t realized she had snatched it from him with The Force.

She marveled at the piece of work, the curves were perfect, there were no seams she could see and it felt right in her hands. She looked at the crest, seeing an engraving within it‘s borders: "Honor to the dead. That they live on in our hearts.

She smiled. Ganner. Her parents. Her family.

“Thank you.” she said, looking again at Sean with his eyes still closed in meditation. She began to try and find a way to access the insides, then chuckled, “Uh… Stupid question. How am I suppose to open it for maintenance?”

Sean flashed her a smile, finally opening his eyes. "Not a stupid question, actually. Took me a while to design it, and it's a first that I've ever seen of it. It's easy enough, once you know how." Without another word, he took the saber from her. Slowly, he began running through how to open it. "First, you need to sense what is inside your saber. It's a little tough. Inanimate objects can't necessarily be sensed. However, if you pay enough attention, you'll notice that these areas here," He pointed out approximately where the spring-loaded latches where, "Have some pent up energy in them. That's because there are two springs there. It'll take some time to get it down, but once you do, it'll become second nature. I do ask, however, that you have a gentle touch with it."

"Once you have both the latches pulled back, it'll be a counterclockwise turn and you'll hear a slight click. Once that happens, pull out the whole emitter casing. There will be a cylinder inlaid into that casing that will now be able to slide out. There are access hatches on the cylinder that will let you get to the various components." He handed the saber back to her. "That about sums it up. Have fun." He flashed her a small grin before closing his eyes again. He wasn't really meditating, per se, he just felt that it was kinda aloof and annoying.

Sara was, after some trial, error and concentration, able to detach the chrome outer-shell and gain access to the various hatches to the interior of her lightsaber. She only needed to open one of course, and that was the crystal and focusing chambers. She used her old crystal as a focusing crystal and her new one as the main. She had paid attention to Sean’s instructions when she constructed her training saber, and he had mentioned where certain items went. So she knew where to place them without trouble.

Sara gradually placed the crystals in their designated places, each suspended between four side-mounted prongs that would hold them in place, then she closed the hatch and slid the outer casing back on. She turned it once around clockwise and made heard a similar click from when she had opened it. She closed her eyes and concentrated hard, using the shortcuts she had figured out to easily reattach the locks.

She kept her eyes closed, using her already established connection to the Force to levitate her lightsaber and make fine adjustments to her crystals. She could feel the crystals and could see the tips of their poles. She infused them with the Force so she could see them as if they were flashing beacons, using that to align them. She let go once she was happy with the results, far happier than when she had first made the shell for her lightsaber. Sean had helped make what was in her mind come to life, and the crest on the back made her lightsaber more sentimental than her training saber if she had used that.

Her eyes opened and her lightsaber was still floating in front of her until she placed her grip around it, and let go with the Force. She breathed in deeply, exhaling the fears of her lightsaber exploding in her face like Sean had mentioned when she made her training saber.

She primed her finger around the activation trigger, and in confidence she depressed it and the sunshine yellow blade extended from the tip in almost slow motion to her, though shooting out like lightning at the same time. It flickered and lit the chamber around her and Sean, she had to shut her eyes for a brief moment to adjust but opened to gleam at the perfectly made blade.

Sara looked around, she couldn’t test it out here, it’d be wrong to do that to such a beautiful place. The crystals were gleaming, glittering and shining. Bouncing and reflecting the light being emitted by her lightsaber in all directions, dotting the curving walls and ceilings with a variety of colors. Blue, green, orange, yellow, magenta. Even silver and red. It was almost like the cantina on Coruscant she had to go to, to make sure Jonas was in fact alive and bring him back to the Jedi Temple and to safety.

At first she might not have paid attention, but thinking back it was almost like the underworld’s version of a night club, a mix between a club and cantina almost. And there were lights dancing around the walls.

She felt uncomfortable with that thought and deactivated her lightsaber and stood. She clipped her saber to her belt and turned to Sean, “Let’s go before more kinrath show up.”
