Cloud City

Quote:
Cloud City was an outpost and a tibanna gas mining colony of the planet Bespin, named as such because it was perpetually surrounded by giant clouds. The city floated 60,000 kilometers above the core of the planet, which was an uninhabitable gas giant. It contained a large and famous luxury resort district on its upper levels, complete with hotels and casinos.

once again... I quote wikipedia because we all know about this. LOL

Haze

Cloud City Resort Spa and Casino.

Under new management, and under the supervision of Lando Calrissian. Cloud City CEO Curtis Finch poured ever more money into the outposts top level, allowing it to become one of the galaxy's more exclusice resort spas, complete with a high end casino and five star dining opportunities. This set up, meant to draw vacationers from all galactic centers, is the best opportunity for rest, relaxation and play.

Curtis Finch
Cloud City CEO and Manager of Haze operations

Funny thing about Curtis Finch. Aside from Lando Calrissian, no one has ever seen him. Finche's offices are located privately on the upper levels of Cloud City, and he gives his orders through middle men and communication channels. His voice, charismatic and liquid, can be heard over cloud city's loudspeakers and in advertisements, but never does he venture outside his apartments, and even if he did, no one knows what he looks like. Who is this mysterious man?

As the Escrow lowered into the clouds, Coral began to reflect on her journey. She had nearly made one of the greatest achievements in the intelligence world, catching Vera Nico, and it all slipped away from her. It was time to let go of the pursuit, and move on. For now. Coral was bunked with Rylii Kuat, though honestly, he was hardly present, so it was like rooming alone. She used a comb to straighten her hair as best as possible, but it was virtually useless. It was a mess that would require hours and the finest cosmetic tools to bring back to into harmony.

The door hissed and Rylii emerged. In her investigation on Anzat, he stumbled upon her. Even in the intelligence world, the odds of a Kuati connected to Lucas (who was tasked to rescue her) were limited, to extraordinary. Then again, the galaxy had a strange sense of humor, and made it seem like a much smaller place than it actually was. Coral sat back on her bed as the Kuati collected his things, and left for the docking ramp. He was in a hurry.

Coral grabbed her bag and jogged to catch up with him. "Riles, is something wrong?"

"No," He was terrible for conversation, and she decided to drop it as the rest of the crew emerged. Anakin Solo, Badim Solding, Clare Valez, Tseneca Lowry-Fink, Sethe Bhren, Lucas Pallanén-Davad, Jonas Eisley, and H6. Jedi Master Kyp Durron was alongside the freighter for the duration of the travel, though probably had already landed and was waiting for them.

Anakin approached Lucas and the two exchanged a handshake and a small embrace, he mentioned that he was planning to return to Coruscant, though wouldn't be against to sticking around for a training session or two. Sethe had informed Tseneca that he had already booked the finest medical bed and that everything was going to be all right. Jonas was silent, and H6 was computing a gambling statistic that invariability led to mysterious deaths if you could not pay up. Coral laughed, being a slicer, she enjoyed the artificial's personality. He was much more blunt and twisted than the standard protocol droid.

The Escrow's docking clamps finally latched on, the auto-navigation flashed green and the hatch opened. Sethe stopped and turned to her, "Thanks for you help, by the way." Coral flashed him a smile. she had planted a few security nets, something even the greatest slicer, Mycah, could not help but trip if he tried anything with the ship again. A few security precautions could go a long way.

"No problem," she answered him, "Though I'd like to accompany you, if you plan on pursuing him." Mycah was another intelligence-world legend. He was gifted, and bringing him in, well, promotion bells rang in her head.

"Welcome aboard," He extended his hand, and she took it. Sethe returned to Tseneca, helping her hobble, but it wasn't a surprise when a medical bed team arrived and hoisted the Bacta tycoon and sprinted away. Lucas took care of their arrangements, and passed out the hotel keys. Suites, it must be nice to have money. Riles shook his head though after a short argument, he accepted the room key.

The lift was quick and extended a terrific view of the clouds. It was beautiful here, and the temperature surprisingly pleasant. Not too warm and not too cold. She walked the interior of Cloud City and the hotel was perked with a view. She didn't lose time, and activated the sonic shower.

The war on her hair had just begun...

Landing the Vigilance on a friend-lier planet was a great relief. For a short moment on Hoth he thought they were getting ready to see the inside of a nine by nine box. As usual the diversity of their crew had saved their skins. During the trip however Kyp had not been able to speak to Tseneca about her injuries, he was sure that something had happened and it bothered him that he was not there to protect her.

As the crew disembarked Kyp watched the unnamed woman pass him on a gurney. She was still in the force induced sleep that he had cautiously kept in place. He wasn't sure what to think about her. She would have another chance to live but it would be a whole new life. He hoped she would some day forgive him for the deaths of her parents.

Tseneca also hovered and they shared a split second of eye contact. Kyp smiled, doing his best to convey, glad you're alright into the wordless gesture. Sethe was not too far behind and Kyp decided to probe for answers. He strode up and matched the younger man's speed.

It didn't take force sensitivity to sense the Jedi Master's concern. Kyp glanced back and fourth till Tseneca disappeared from his sight. "What the hell happened to everyone?" Kyp said as he observed Sethe and injuries he himself had obtained.

"Someone named Mycah stole the Leaper and we followed him to Tatooine. Somewhere along the line-"

Kyp interrupted by raising his hand in a exasperated manner. "Sorry, I should have tip toed around the question. What happened to Tseneca and yourself?"

He was difficult to talk to and he knew it. That's why he wasn't surprised by his answer. "We had some difficulties." Vague didn't begin to describe it.

Kyp used the force and pulled the smuggler's arm up and pulled his sleeve back. "That's a close call from a lightsaber. My old lightsaber if I am not mistaken." Kyp glanced at Sethe with his eye brows lifted. "You've haven't clue who you are talking to. Vagueness doesn't help either."

Sethe pulled back his arm and was clearly frustrated with Kyp but mostly with himself. "Mycah attached a hallucinogen to the air filtration unit on board. It made everyone angry and crazed. She attacked me and I had to defend myself."

Despite his own anger Kyp managed to quell it. Kyp had always been prepared for something like that but had never had the chance. Of all the times for me to be away. "Never heard of a rebreather?" Kyp said as he tossed one of the two he had tucked away in his tunic.

"Um, thank you." Sethe said as he inspected the equipment then inserted it into his pocket.

"Don't thank me, just don't let it happen again, for your own sake." Lucas stood at the reception desk and tossed out keys that each of the crew eagerly accepted. First things first, he needed food. Kyp lifted his bag higher onto his shoulder and called back to the crew. "Who wants some grub?"

Anyone can come along :)

the conversation with Kyp Durron unnerved him a little. He hardly knew the man, and to have him see through him so easily set him on his toes. He knew enough, though, to understand that Tseneca had accepted the older man as a mentor, so he kept his mouth shut.

Sethe followed the gurney to the meddeck. Tseneca was awake, but barely.

"How you hanging in there?" He asked, and she mumbled something indescernable back. Her fever was too high for her to be coherent.

Once inside, he watched as the doctors sedated her, and prepared her for the much needed blood transfusion. A stern looking attendant came over and escorted him out.

"We'll keep you posted on her progress, but until then, we'll have to ask you to leave."

He nodded, reluctantly, and left.

***

He'd spent a good amount of time, in his day, drinking. This place however, the casino bar on the topmost level of the city, was spectacular for the particular binge in which he was now indulging. Corellian ale could never be sweeter against the twilight glow of cloud city.

There was too much to think about, and he didn't want to think about the minutia, the implications, the stakes, so he buried himself in alchohol. He wasn't drunk yet, not hardly. On Aargau he'd learned to hold his drink like a pro. What kind of man would he be if he couldn't knock back a few doozies and still stay sane.

he slammed a shot and chased it with ale. That would do it for a few seconds. He looked around the room. The Casino was pristine, gorgeous. People from all over the galaxy were blowing on dice and laying down cards. It was almost relaxing, he could blend in. Pretend he was invisible... At least for a moment.

Would he trade it all to go back to the underground? to forget about the moment he pulled her half dressed off the backwater stage and sat across from her in his loft on corouscant? Did he rue that promise he'd made Emmett?

He grabbed another shot and slugged it, banishing any thought that wasn't momentary.

"Hey..."

The voice pulled him out of his buzz. He turned to see the tall figure of a woman adorned in a dark purple, long dress.

Coral Callatros.

She had cleaned up. The pale, ruddy look of her cheeks had given way to smooth skin. Her hair was half up, piled high atop her head and cascading silky over her shoulders. She smiled warmly. "Can I sit?"

He cleared his throat. His tongue was starting to feel fuzzy. "Yeah... yes." He said

Lucas' charity rooms withstanding, Rylii enjoyed the place. He hadn't seen a suite like this in a long time, and it was nice to cool down and really bathe. He cleaned himself up, he hadn't been so slick, since he left the homeworld, and Dathomir wasn't a huge help either. He had a room with a holopadd and he took the liberty updating the evil queen.

"I understand that," He breathed, he could sense he was venting a little too much stress to the Lady Sith. She had been pressuring him to find out more about Lucas and his family's dynamics. "I already told you most of it. With the Jedi, all his siblings had been shipped off across the galaxy. One is on Naboo, and honestly, he's been there for a while. No one really knows why exactly. Have you seen the Queen? Hell, I'd probably stick around for a while too-"

"Shut it." Her tone was final, and he stopped immediately. "I understand Tseneca Lowry-Fink is aboard?" Rylii acknowledged, though mentally, he wondered how she knew. "She is of great interest. Her ties to bacta are... enticing."

"She's pregnant, and an all around bitch." Just the few moments he was around her, made it seem like the whole damn galaxy revolved around her. Sethe, her little lapdog, wasn't exactly doing anything for him either. "She didn't really sense anything from me, and neither did Anakin."

"Good. Your training went better than expected. As long as you stay away from them, you should do well. Bespin is home to gamblers, and with gamblers, come a mixture of volatile emotions. It will be difficult to detect you now, but do not allow this to lower your guard. If the Jedi catch you, they cannot keep you safe from my wrath, dear boy." He shivered, even long distance, she was terrifying.

"I understand."

"You better, Kuat. Do not fail me."

The transmission ended, but he lingered on the holopadd. He probably should've contacted his family, they hadn't heard from him in almost six months. He rose, another time perhaps. One thing mattered, he went from first to third in Lumiya's affections. Lucas was one thing, the boy was bound to be the new Sith Lord, and with him, Rylii as his second hand. But Tseneca proved a problem, and so early in the game, she was easy to terminate, especially now.

Rylii took a short walk, he knew the tricks of the intelligence trade, and knew he wasn't followed. The hospital was fairly secure, and if it hadn't been for Lumiya's agent Mulluian, he probably would've failed in the slice attempt. She was in room Beta 12, and flocked with medic droids.

"Stop. Identify yourself."

Rylii had kept his face masked at this point, they were extremely accurate, if not directly recording. He even masked his physical appearance by a pair of shoes, which added a foot, and a long pad for broader shoulders. Even a fake tattoo on his index finger, which actually matched several guys he noticed landing just after they checked in. He used a pair of electo-pliers and the medical droids were quickly deactivated. He reached around Tseneca's face and pulled a pillow in front of her and pressed down.

Perhaps it was wrong to rob a pregnant woman of life this way...

His conscious fought against his actions, and he hesitated for the first time. Instead, he reached around and pulled the plug from the life support system. "Your life is in the hands of the gods." He destroyed the medic droid's memory processors, after sending a small feedback through and into the security network. It would only last a few seconds, but long enough for him to return to the gambling floor. He noticed Coral and Sethe at a cantina bar, and decided to return to his room and wait the outcome of his task...

Sethe Bhren. He was cute, but an older man. She brushed the feelings off, but couldn't help and just enjoy his company. "I see you've hit a few glasses." Her last encounter with a bar left her completely dazed and in company with drunken Jedi Sean Tavell and assistant to the Chief of State, Tren Drexel. "Just a club soda, please."

"So how did you get tangled up in all this?" Sethe drank the last of his glass and set it back on the table.

"Nico, actually." The soda dropped in front of her, and she sipped on it while explaining, "I was part of the team investigating the remains of her attack on the Denon Bank branch. Quite interesting, actually. She left a mound of data behind, and it wasn't difficult...well.." She bragged for a minute, "For me, to find she left a trail. She was only in there for a few minutes, and took key nodes of information, the rest, was being uploaded and sent across the holonet. Extremely clever, in fact, we have no idea where it ends." She paused, setting the empty glass on the table, before she continued again.

"I found a data download-upload center, presumably created by Nico to receive then resend the information, on Atzerri. When I arrived at the complex, the data-droid knocked me unconscious, and next thing I knew, I woke up with Anakin Solo and your boy Lucas." She didn't mention Rylii, but he was smart enough to ask her about that. "He saw a native Anzat break into the apartment building. Nasty creatures, they are, and went in to save me. Only, he was knocked out, and rescued by the pair I just mentioned."

"Fascinating," Sethe let out, though she wasn't sure if he really meant that or not.

"What about you? You don't really seem the type to be caught up in all this, either."

Sethe took a moment, enough time for Coral to order them another, except this time, she took a water with a serving of fruit juice. "I'm not really sure how to explain that." Coral flashed him a smile, and responded with, "You're waiting for a status update, no? You have some time to kill, so start talkin'."

There could be no denying, this time, what was happening. It had happened when she'd been knocked out before, on the escrow. The out-of-body sensation she'd experienced was more pronounced this time, so the moment the little blonde demon-boy had placed the pillow over her face and the moment she heard the bleating of the life support system, she knew she was in deep.

She watched inwardly as he left the room, her physical body breathing slowly beneath the heavy cloth of the pillow. She couldn't move, she was technically still unconscious. There was nothing she could do except keep herself alive.

or... wait...

She reached within herself, feeling the shortness of breath in time to her heartbeat. Her blood was hot, feverish. He couldn't have come at a worse time, when her body was working to fight off the infection of her stitches and accept the new blood she'd been given. She would die if she didn't do something, relatively quickly.

Kyp...

She said the name over in her mind. Surely he would hear her, could sense her distress.

Kyp... please

she was running out of air...

Whether or not it was the fact that he was getting more drunk by the moment, Sethe told the woman his story, minus the intimate details (why would she need to know about his feelings, he wasn't that drunk).

"I think its noble." She said, and licked her bottom lip of the coctail she'd ordered. The gesture itself, though she hadn't meant it to, made him react... effectively. a manner beside himself. He must be more drunk then he thought. She continued. "You answer a call from a friend and then keep vigil to his dying wish. Its almost... knightly."

Her smile was... well... beguiling. He grinned. "It is, isn't it? I never thought of it like that."

"Well, of course, think about it, all this traipsing across the galaxy..."

"All in a days work." He said, aware that they were leaning into each other, as if sharing a private joke. Was she... flirting? and for that matter, was he going along with it.

Coral put a hand on his arm and he felt himself go hot. "Lets go play..."

"W-what?" He asked, stuttering a little.

She grinned, her eyes shining with mischief. If that wasn't flirting, he wasn't sure what was. "The tables, silly, lets mess with the stakes."

He thought briefly about Tseneca, in critical down in medbay. He should go check on her, make sure she was okay.

Wait. Why was he beholden to this? Tseneca wasn't his, she's made that perfectly clear, hadn't she? She didn't want him, didn't need him. He didn't need her either. She'd be fine on her own, not much he could do in the way of helping.

He looked down at his clothes, he looked shabby. "I'm not really dressed..."
He started, but Coral was already pulling him over to the games floor, slender fingers wrapped aroung his wrist.

aw, what the hell. He grinned and let her pull him in.

The shot of pain she had felt on The Escrow had hurt her in a way she hadn’t felt from a graze from a fiery blaster bolt, nor from a direct hit. It had come from inside, and she feared the worse as she began to get light headed. But other than the headache she was fine now. She and Badim were touring The Haze, the casino was a sight to truly behold, and it made her forget about the pain the night before, and dimly the insanity just a while earlier. Coral was a new face, and from what she had heard from rumors she was sticking around, at least she wasn‘t Imperial. Clare hadn’t seen Lucas, coming out last with Badim while Lucas went off with Master Anakin Solo. So for now she have to keep him guessing, or until they bumped into each other.

Sethe had taken Tseneca to the medical area of the resort, though Clare knew she’d be fine and paid no further thought to it. Tseneca was a tough gal, anything could be thrown at her and, now that she was a training Jedi, she could handle the Galaxy and come out on top, Clare was sure of that. The pain in her abdomen throbbed from what had happened last night, but it only throbbed. And for some reason her shoulder was hurting too, more like an irritation than anything, and she massaged it away.
The pain everywhere would suddenly vanish when she looked at Badim’s caring and watchful eyes, she was always safe around him.

She pulled at the hem of her cloak downwards slightly to cover herself some more. There was still the bounty on her head, but she was confident that Morgan would deal with it one way or another, and confident in the protect of Badim and the crew. Not to mention three Jedi, and temporarily four.

“Where to?” Badim asked.

“Let’s just… Walk.”

* * *

The orange sun had began to set, and so had their embrace. Badim had gotten what he had wanted, and Clare had been more than happy to oblige in his oath to kiss her underneath every setting sun they came to. The two looked out the balcony of their suite as the sun touched the clouds of Bespin, and she was happy to have a place to bathe and wash after so long. She had been smelling rank since Ord Mantell, and she was glad that Echo Base smelled so bad it didn’t reveal to her that she wasn’t a diplomat at all, not at first anyhow.

The walk had been fine. No assassination attempts, no more pain. Just bliss as she walked in Badim's arms. But they had decided to rest from their endevours for a night and take showers. Lots of them. They couldn't do anything too substantial, but she was just glad to be next to him again.

Clare had finally rid herself of her cloak, carelessly set aside on the bed. Clare jumped slightly as she heard the door to their suite, due in no small part with Lucas, knock softly. She looked at the door, to Badim and back again. Lucas had put the room under Badim’s name, so surely it had to be one of the crewmembers. If it were under Clare’s name she would have sooner guessed a bounty hunter. But she was still suspicious as the door knocked again.

She was about to move to the door, but Badim was already there. Confidently opening the door and Clare tensed, expecting a blaster shot to echo out, instead she heard Badim say, “Lucas.”

Lucas had wanted to make do on his promise in the Hoth Cave, and paid his respects to Clare. It was odd seeing her so full of life, when for so long, they thought she were dead. He hugged her long enough to get an eyebrow from Badim, but a handshake was enough to quell any possible confusion. "It's so good to see you alive."

But that wasn't the only reason he was paying tribute. "Jonas heard you, twice." He smiled to the both of them, their expressions mulled from dumbfounded confused to ecstatic. In fact, he hadn't seen Badim so thrilled, since, ever. Lucas congratulated the pair and assured him he was the only other person to know. "He told me not to say anything, but honestly, who can resist?"

Everyone was shackin' up and producing a child nowadays. "I have wanted to just... shout it out." Clare said, "But could never really find the right moment, you know?" Badim held onto her, and together they embraced. It was heartwarming, to know the child would receive a pair of good parents.

"I bet," Lucas answered in delay, his connection to the Force was tingling. Something was happening, not so far away. At first he thought it was Tseneca, but then, he was sure something was going on with Jonas. "I-I-" He pressed harder, but it was like flipping high-powered lights in a heavy fog- just made matters worse. "I- need to rest." Lucas stumbled towards the door, his mind was still trying to probe what exactly was happening, "Maybe dinner, later?" He managed to get out of the room, assuring the pair he was all right. He tapped the elevator key and zoomed towards his room...

Badim agreed to meeting with Lucas later for dinner with Clare, and possibly with the rest of the crew. Lucas left the suite and Badim solemnly closed the door and turned to Clare. Her eyes had trailed to the floor, a small smile across her face as she thought about how everyone had welcomed her back like nothing had happened. And how Jonas was sane enough to understand them when they thought it was still between them and safe to talk aloud about her pregnancy. Badim didn’t care if anyone knew or if they did. This was beautiful between them, and nothing was going to change that.

Though he knew they were going to be back on the chase with Mycah, then on the trail of Nico afterwards. He was getting tired of all this running around, and after a while he knew Clare would want to call it quits and just settle down. Badim couldn’t even imagine her trying to move around in combat with a bulging pregnant belly.
She’d see it, he was sure. But he couldn’t force the decision to settle down, he could only nudge and nod to it from time to time and see how she reacted.

Badim hadn’t realized she had disappeared, a faint image of her vanishing into the refresher. Badim thought back, “I’m going to take a bath.

He smiled and turned to the double bed. He’d need some sleep, and he could always take a quick dip in the shower before dinner later.

He glanced at the refresher once more, then shed his clothes down to just a few clothes and fell asleep almost as instantly as he had hit the sheets.

The sun was beginning to set and the orange hue illuminated across the buildings of Cloud City. Lucas had them placed in the one of the finest rooms the city offered. Nothing was ever short of exquisite for him, when money could be used without bounds. Jonas was in the middle of a shower, Lucas was expected to return any moment with dinner and a romantic holo. The two had a lot of catching up to do, but it all boiled down to where they were at. Since the Sarlacc, Lucas was beginning to become much more distant.

Ding.

The door's chime sounded through the suite, and Jonas was curious to who it could've been. Lucas might've forgot his key. Wrapping a towel around his lower body, he took the liberty of answering the door, only to find the wrong Kuati. It was Riles. "Oh. It's you."

The blond flipped his hair, and gave him a sarcastic smile. "It's good to see you too, you must be Jonas."

"Yep." He said, leaning against the entrance. He didn't bother inviting him in, the guy was an asshole. Riles, however, didn't take to common courtesy, and entered any ways, the door slamming shut automatically behind him. "Sure. Just make yourself at home."

"Lucas told me a lot about you."

"He, uh, wait. He did?"

"Well, enough to gather that you two are... let's fancy the word, involved, shall we?" Riles smiled, "Though don't you find it interesting, he keeps you all boarded up in hotel rooms, and never shows affection in public?" Jonas boiled, what was he playing at? "Jonas, he can never be with someone like you. As cliche as it sounds, he is, by our culture, too pure to mingle with your blood. It just doesn't look right. And looks are everything to him, take this hotel. Best of the best. What makes you think he'll settle? You're just a bit of fun, that's all." He laughed, a little perplexed by the shock lingering on Jonas' face. "You know he might care about you, but he'll do anything to please his mother. He is bound, like a twi'lek slave dancer to a fat-hutt. Your Outer Rim blood is garbage in our society, down right disgusting. And really, that is exactly as he sees you."

"Get out." Jonas was fighting every urge not to toss the man himself.

"Jonas, please, that is not why I have stopped by. I am not trying to scare you off with some kind of emotional-drama. I'm more interested in... you." Riles reached for a bottle of wine, and when popping the cap, it spilled over and onto his clothes. The Ithorians would label this as karma. "Banthashit, this is going to stain. Can you hand me... a towel." The Kuati was referring to the one he was wearing. Jonas sneered, how funny. He walked back to the bathroom, and reached for a clean one and as he turned, the Kuati was shirtless and right behind him. Their skin rubbed against each other, and there was something on him. The smell was nearly intoxicating, it made blood rush to all the... wrong places.

"You see, I have cast off all the old traditions of our homeworld. Someone like, you, is all I've ever wanted." Riles was speaking, the deep voice made his brainwaves twist into sublime. Jonas could only nod, he wanted Rylii to keep speaking. "Lucas never mentioned how... fit you are." His fingers traced along his chest, circling his left nipple before racing along the center of his abs, stopping just at the cuff of the towel. "Well, I need to get going." Rylii turned to walk away, but Jonas grabbed his arm and pushed him against the wall, using force to drive his tongue into the other man's mouth. The passion lasted for a good three minutes, before the Kuati smirked, and left.

Moments later, Lucas appeared. "Is everything all right? I thought I sensed something."

"Yeah." Jonas gulped, shouting over the cold shower, "Everything is fine."

Rylii entered his suite, removing the rest of his clothes and slipped into bed. A woman was waiting for him, he hadn't been with her in almost four months. They kissed, he rolled so her body was on top, and slipped his hands across her waist. She was lighter than he remember, his hands playing with her ear lobes as they connected. "Gods, I've missed you." Rylii surrendered to her, as she chased along his neck line.

"Did it work, the cologne?" The woman asked. "It should've triggered a submissive persona. As long as he smells it, he should do anything you tell him."

"Of course, you're genius. If anyone asks where I was, Jonas would have to cover for me."

The woman removed herself, "Still, Rylii, we can't afford to make these kinds of emotional responses." She was being serious, he hated when she did this, talked as though he didn't know what he was doing. "Tseneca, if she survives, she could remember something. And that puts everything we are doing at risk!"

"Damn it, I couldn't just kill her, she is pregnant. All right. I should've meditated, or relaxed. I just didn't like the idea of someone else taking favoritism. We are her favorites, no one else." The woman was calm suddenly, she was beginning to believe him. She cooed softly to his worry, and whispered that everything would be all right. Her hands were cold, bringing goosebumps as they glided over his chest, taking care when blowing a short breath over his neck, sending hairs into a pleasurable frenzy. He loved when she did that.

The woman leaned upwards as she undid the snaps on her bra. He was mesmerized, it didn't matter any more. He played around for months, but nothing came close to his one true love. "Say my name." She whispered.

As pleasure released from his breath, he said softly, "Valexxia."

Everyone had shrugged off the opportunity for food. The prospect of hospital food had no effect on him however. He loved anything that wasn't in a six by four ration pack, so long as it was already dead. A Jedi had to have a cast iron stomach, it was like a job requirement. Who knew what alien culture he'd be visiting next. Coming from a water world helped as well. He had stuffed some of the slimiest so called foods down his throat as a child.

Rather than carrying his pack around he decided to hand it off to a droid. With the weight gone he could concentrate on his stomach. He quietly trekked down a flight and followed the holo-signs hanging from the ceiling to the hushed cafeteria. There were a few employees sitting and conversing amongst themselves but it would seem that he was right in his assumption.

Like many times before he felt eyes watching him. It wasn't odd, simply unnerving. To see a Jedi much less one so steeped in black was very rare, especially considering how far out from the core they were. Nevertheless Kyp grabbed a tray and moved down the line, quickly gathering his food and paying with one of the few credit chits he had.

They had no sea food, which bothered Kyp, but the poultry and veggies would have to do. He sat down in at the closest table to the exit and faced it as well. It was a habit that he had learn many years ago. His life was worth quite a bit to quite alot of people. If need be he could escape or defend himself easily.

Kyp picked up his fork and attacked the food. His stomach instantly thanked him from the first bite on. He began stuffing mouth fulls of food in at a time, while paying no regard to the dignity of the act. Everything tasted so good. He worked down the mouth full bit by bit then proceeded to do it again. By now he had garnered some attention.

With a mouth full of food he raised his head from the platter and stared in confusion at the equally confused employees. He looked around with his cheeks puffed off from food. What the hell were they looking at? Kyp...... It was like someone had punched him in the gut.

The food shot out of his mouth and impacted the nearest male employee square in the forehead. The spit ridden slop smacked the porcelin as the man stood up in a clear sign of anger. "Why you son of a..." he said as he approached, fist's clenched. Kyp... please It happened again but this time he could hear the voice and feel it's desperate attempt at contacting him.

Kyp quickly stood up and kicked his chair back with his right foot. He was getting ready to bolt before the man stood in his way and placed his hand against Kyp's chest. "What the big deal?" He had no time to deal with the spit covered obstacle. In one swift motion he grabbed the man's middle finger, twisted, and wrenched it upwards, effectively breaking and dislocating the finger. The victim dropped to the floor in pain as Kyp shot off. He'd live and would learn a valuable lesson.

The second time the voice had played in his mind it had been so familiar that there was no question who it was coming from. Kyp darted between the foot traffic back to the main lobby and skid to a halt next to a large sign displaying the room numbers of all the patients. He scanned till he saw Lowry. Beta 12. Then he was off like a shot again. Nurses and orderlies protested his haste but were simply force pushed gently aside. He took the deserted stairs, opting not to take chances with an elevator. He climbed two flights and saw Alpha and continued upwards two steps at a time.

Beta. Kyp slammed through the door and glanced around. To his left was odd numbers and to his right were even. Right. He rushed down the hall watching each number go by. 2. 4. 6. 8. 10. When he reached the corner he didn't stop and slammed into a metal rack that happened to be occupying that corner. He was so close. 12.

He burst through the door and felt his heart skip around radically. He stepped over the droids and removed the pillow that still sat over her face. She was pale and clammy. The life support had been unplugged. Kyp checked the wire to make sure it was no damaged then inserted it back into the wall. Someone wanted her dead but had not the conscious to do it themselves. He then placed the mask firmly over her mouth and nose.

Oxygen, blood, and the IV all began pumping again. Her vitals showed low o2 sats but were steadily rising, along with her heartrate. She however was carrying far more fragile cargo. Kyp pressed his palm against the bare flesh of her stomach. He closed his eyes and felt for the tiny amount of life force present in the tiny being. It was there but it seemed so faint, even for one so young.

He pressed his other hand against her stomach. With the gentlest of force energy he carefully squeezed it's tiny heart as if it were in between his index and thumb. He squeezed again and again each time sending blood and oxygen back in the minuscule appendages. Slowly the being inside Tseneca regain it's own composure and could take care of the task all own it's own.

Kyp stepped back and covered Tseneca back up. His own heartrate felt like it was through the roof. For a few moments he stared at the unconsious body laying in front of him. He had moments before with Jaina but this was something else. It scared him that a woman who seemed so strong was also so very mortal.

The orderlies arrived and Kyp explained the situation but refused to leave. No amount of security could out do him on a bad day, let alone a good one. He was unsure of whether or not to inform everyone, though. He wasn't sure who would want her dead. Informing them may draw attention to the failed plot.

Kyp managed to steady his shaking hands enough to grab a chair and set it down next to the bed. She didn't need this, especially with a young one. The longer he sat there, the more angry he got. He could only find one logical target for his anger too. It would have to wait till she was conscious.

He wasn't good at magna-shuffle, but Binspo, now that was a game. It was active, thats what he liked, and the click of the tiles and dice made him feel warm inside. Coral was laughing, each time he tossed the dice making it land closer to the blue felt of the table... closer than he'd wanted to the larger tiles, but then, he was up quite a few credits, so what did that matter?

The patron pulled the dice back and handed them to him. He rubbed his forefinger and thumbs together, as he always did to promote a streak. The patron reset the tiles in their yet-to-be-revealed positons. Sethe looked over at Coral, who was clasping her hands and smiling wide with excitement. He held out his hand, with the dice out, and she shook her head, but blew on them gently.

He felt himself go hot again, a little dizzy, as she looked up with those stunning brown eyes. He smiled back. The attraction was swift but evident. She was an incredibly beautiful woman, olive skinned and exotic looking. He knew, from what she'd told him about herself that she was also smart and resourcefull. He liked that in a woman...

He tossed the dice, flicking his wrist and making the colorfull little cubes dart about the board. they hit the far end and bounced back, striking two tiles. The patron turned the tiles over, revealing images that, when paired and connected with the right roll meant money. He had rolled well.

Coral clapped her hands happily and he grinned wider.

"Lets break for drinks." He said. "My treat..."

****
Hours later, he found himself back in his suite. Coral and he had sat in the lounge talking until the early hours. Now dawn was breaking over the city and he was ready to sleep.

When he'd dropped her off at her own room, she'd seemed energized.

"Come in?" She asked, eyes glinting with that mischievous look he had grown to enjoy in the last few hours.

He suddenly felt a pang of guilt though, her question and it implications cutting through him, and making him feel gravity. He shook his head, sorry to deny her. "Maybe a late lunch. shall we?" He asked.

She had leaned forward and he was surprised to feel her lips brush his cheek. "Absolutely." She smiled warmly and had dissapeared into her room, the door shutting quietly behind her.

Now, he was alone. He pulled his clothes off and slid into bed, rubbing his chin where the outgrow of his beard itched. Maybe a hair cut would be good too, he hadn't thought much about his appearance in years. He closed his eyes. It was interesting. For one entire evening he hadn't thought of Tseneca. He thought of her now, hoped she was doing alright... he'd visit her when he woke, before lunch with Coral. His mind drifted to Coral, her willowy form, her shining eyes.

He was drifting, the lesser effects of the alcohol making him want to sleep, thoughts of beautiful women making him horny as all hell. Frak, If thats what the first day of a city in the clouds could do, no wonder people came here to get away.

Sleep took him.

tseneca woke in early afternoon. The sun in the infirmiry shone bright, and opening her eyes was a little harder then she would have thought. Her eyes focused and there, off the foot of the bed in one of the hospital chairs, sat Kyp, arms folded, asleep.

She tried to speak, but her voice croaked. No matter, he stirred at the attempt and woke. Surprised, he leaned forward. "Oh thank gods, how do you feel?"

She licked her lips. "I need..."

He already knew, and was helping her drink from a cistern that rested at her bedside. She felt his hand avoid the tender spot on the back of her head, where they must have replaced the stitches with new ones.

The liquid slid down her throat fantastically. It felt like ice breaking and inferno.

"Not to much." He said, and moved the cup from her lips. She nodded and settled back down against the pillows. She smiled a small smile. "Its good to see you again." her voice was still raw, but soft enough to be heard.
He nodded and gave her a smile back.

"Do you remember anything?" He asked.

That was an odd question. What was there to remember besides being led out of the Escrow on a gurney? She'd been unconscious since then...

"What should I remember?" She asked, and noted a troubled look as it passed his face. He set his jaw into the infinitely patient expression he took with younger people.

"You called to me, while you were unconscious. Someone placed a pillow over your face and unplugged your life support. Tseneca, someone tried to kill you."

"W-what?" There was no time to look surprised, because at that moment, Jonas and Lucas came in, followed by Riles and Coral, Badim and Clare. Lucas came forward and kissed her forehead.

"You look sunshiny." he said and patted her arm. Jonas did the same, without the commentary. Riles stood off in the corner, neutrally, and Coral came forward tentatively.

"We seem to be running into more and more people from Iego..." Tseneca said, smiling at the woman.

Coral grinned back. "That wasn't hardly as bad as the mess you left me in Denon."

they clasped hands, Tseneca feeling some of her old strength come back. But she glanced at Kyp, knowing they needed to finish the conversation theyd started, just as soon as everyone left. Badim and Clare chatted with her briefly on the rooms they'd recieved, and the view outside, promising her they'd walk when she could move around.

"Where's Sethe?" She asked, feeling warm in the glow of her friends.

Coral smirked. "he had a lot to drink last night, we tried the tables out."

Lucas smiled. "Really? didn't think he had it in him to gamble."

Tseneca was surprised to find that she felt a little hurt. She'd missed some of the fun, and here she was infirmed while he was off playing. She tried her best to ignore the sinking feeling in her gut. "Did he win at all?"

Coral nodded, something behind her eyes. "The man is infinitely talented when it comes to Binspo."

Another pang. What now, jealousy? She shook that off too.

"Enough." Kyp's voice was loud. He rose and shut the door, checking to make sure there was no one lingering outside. He came back in, under the silence of all the others. "We have a major problem. Someone snuck into the room last night and tried to kill Tseneca."

The impact of his words struck everyone dumb. He continued explaining what the culprit had done, and finished with "She doesn't remember what happened."

"Well, how could she." Clare said. "She was out cold."

"She had enough wherewithal to reach me, so she must have been conscious at some point. Thats not too uncommon with force users."

"can you please stop talking about me like I'm not here?" Tseneca was feeling irritated. She couldn't remember anything since losing consciousness on the gurny with Sethe squeezing her hand, how could she possibly have contacted Kyp? It must have happened though.... "And anyway, who would want to kill me?"

"Someone who wants you dead." Coral piped in. She was trying to alleviate the tension by joking, but it was grim. "I'll go to the head of security and check cameras..."

"There aren't any in this room, I already checked." Kyp interjected. He sat back down. "I think its important though, to recognize that we need to take caution. We aren't as safe as it seems, not even here. Whomever tried to do this will realize he failed and try again, maybe even come after others, since he knows how close you are as a crew..."

Badim looked angry. "If he comes 'round again, we'll be able to catch him, knowing that he's setting traps for us."

"There's no way of telling." Lucas said. "If he can come after Tseneca when we least expect it, he can come after any one of us without warning. We'll just have to be carefull." The younger man looked at her, eyes blazing. "You cant remember? for certain?"

She tried. Lords did she try. But there was nothing but a haze of darkness surrounding memories of the last few hours. "No." She said.

They discussed it for a few more minutes, but were interrupted by a nurse, who ordered them to leave as they were taking up capacity. They filed out, taking up a silence that said no one outside the room could know about this, with the exception of Sethe who was still fast asleep.

Kyp stayed behind with Tseneca, if only for a minute.

"I did that thing you said, the unconscious consciousness thing, back on the escrow. The baby was dying, and I heard a voice, Emmetts voice, telling me I had to keep it safe." She told him.

He came forward and helped her adjust her pillow. "Well, you must have done it again, there was no other way to have contacted me. Its only a matter of remembering."

"I don't know why I can't." She said. It frustrated her, that something so important could be gone so quickly.

"Give it time." He patted her on the shoulder. "Maybe it will come back. Until then, we'll study tapes from outside the facility and hopefully learn something."

She nodded. It was the best they could do under the circumstances.

Clare loved the feel of the water, caressing, warming and all around pleasurable. She’d had to drain the water once already with all the grime she had been carrying, but now she had fresh water pruning her finger times and toes. The top of her head began to dry, and she slowly brought her head underwater to rectify that. She took a quiet gasp as she resurfaced, then ran her hands through the water until they lead to her stomach. It was still flat and smooth, but she knew that there was a tiny boy or girl in there, and the thought made her smile and her thoughts go wild. So little time had she and Badim been together. Realized their love for one another. Willing to sacrifice themselves, but not the other. Searching a Galaxy for one, while another avenged the other’s supposed death. It all seemed like it was coming out of a holodrama, but it was real all the same.

Clare took another breath of air and went back underwater.

* * *

The pain was returning, but it wasn’t major. More like a rock in her stomach than anything else. Clare had woken up Badim, but he didn’t stir immediately for dinner, instead they just talked for a long while. The sun having set a while ago and there was nothing better to do until around dinner time.
Clare couldn’t help but laugh inwardly at how Jonas was sane enough to understand her being sincere with her words of her being pregnant, even though he seemed insane at the time. She respected that he kept it between the five of them: Badim, H6, Lucas, Jonas and herself.
Clare felt almost guilty for Sara not being her. In all the embraces and welcome backs from the crew, she really wanted to see Sara, who had known her a lot longer than the crew had. And she would go insane when she hears that she’s pregnant.

Though she had seen a spark or two between Jonas and Sara, she hadn’t seen the same with them just before she was captured. It was a brief encounter, but she had seen the sparks between the two begin to fade, while she could see the sparks again in the briefest glances between Lucas and Jonas.
Clare shook her head. Wasn’t her place to be the love maker. She just wondered what Firi and Dex were doing on Coruscant right now, she hoped everything between them were blossoming, and that they were still alive.

They both were fully dressed now, and Clare grabbed her cloak. She didn’t want to wear it, despite Badim’s protests and kept it to keep her hidden in the shadows should a chase happen. There was still a bounty of fifty-thousand credits on her head, and he didn’t like that.

“As long as we’re with the crew we’ll be fine. We have eyes and ears everywhere, they’d let us know if someone came after us.”

Badim paused, then said, “Speaking of the crew, let’s check up on our captain before dinner.”

* * *

Clare had reluctantly filed out with Badim and the others. Someone had tried to kill Tseneca, and now they were in the crosshairs as well. She shrugged, all in a days work. The crew defended each other despite the possible consequences.
H6 was still on the ship, and Clare had heard nothing about the new arrival, likely she was still sleeping aboard The Escrow.
Jonas, Coral, Lucas, Kyp, Badim and herself went to the security hub to hopefully get some answers. Clare looked around the interior of the hospital, the pain in her abdomen slowly growing from a throb to a shot of pain that she used all of her willpower to keep from showing. Badim hadn’t been told she was experiencing the pain again, the lightheadedness and the cold shivers in her blood. She just needed to grab something to eat, that was it. Maybe they'd have dinner in the hospital's food court.

"I don't know, you seem a little distant." Lucas responded, the pair had been having a conversation about their unofficial relationship. Jonas folded his arms, his massive biceps expanding virtually twice their typical size. He always flared up when he was defensive. "Like you're a prime example, Lucas."

The private pool had been reserved, only a service droid was permitted to enter during their time slot. "Sorry, I've had a lot on my mind." Lucas shrugged back, trying to mimic Jonas' position almost exactly, "So, we even?"

"Fine." The pair smiled, but Lucas could sense something was still troubling him.

Sethe woke with a hangover. It wasn't that bad cause of the de-synth he'd had between shots, but still.

He got in the 'fresher. It was well after noon and the sun was high in the window. He let the water soak in and scrubbed what seemed like ages of grime off of his skin.

He turned the water off and stood there, dripping. He should visit Tseneca, see how she was. He felt the familiar pang of guilt. He was meeting Coral for lunch. Was that wrong?

Then suddenly, again, he was angry. Whose business was it anyway. Tseneca didn't feel the same way about him as he did her. Why even worry about it.

He was pulling on his pants when a knock came from the door. He answered. Coral stood there, in the hallway, dressed in a nice dress and her hair pulled back from her face. He was distinctly aware that he was only half dressed.

"Bad time?" She asked, smiling.

He looked down, as if he didn't know. "Nope. Not for me anyway." He grinned back and held the door for her to come in. She entered and looked around, as if taking stock of the place.

"I think your room might be better than mine." She said and sat on one of the lounge chairs.

Sethe pulled on his shirt. "What with my streak last night I was thinking of upgrading. Where should we do lunch? I heard theres a Cafe on one of the secondary levels thats nice..."

Coral held a hand up. "First things first. Someone snuck into Tseneca's room last night and unplugged the life support."

His stomach lurched and he felt terrifically sick. Oh god."What? is she--"

"She's fine." Coral looked wary. "But Kyp says we all should be careful. Whoever tried to kill her might likely do the same to one of us. We should be on our guard."

Sethe pulled his jacket on and started for the door.

"Where are you going?" She asked.

He felt bad for leaving, but the idea that Tseneca had almost died, again, made his head spin. "I'll meet you at that cafe I told you about in a half hour, I promise." He said, and then left for the infirmiry.

Jonas pushed himself while swimming, trying to do each lap faster than the last, his body burned, but he didn't give up. Something had happened back at the hotel room, and strangely enough, he was suffering from a small memory gap, at least, kinda. He remembered Rylii coming into the room, no doubt looking for Lucas, but then the boy had said he was interested in me, Jonas recalled. He used his arms, the pain and strain on his body was easily compensated by the sudden lurch of guilt beginning to strain on his body. The gap happened just before their make out session. What made him do that? It wasn't like him, was it?

"Jonas!" Lucas called, "Don't make me Force push you outta there. We have to meet Badim and Clare, remember?" Jonas stopped and heaved himself out of the water. His body burned and pulsed, but surprisingly, it felt good and put the agony and guilt to the back of his mind. Eventually, he'd have to tell him. Just not now. He needed to understand fully what he was feeling, to make more sense when he explained it.

Lucas toweled him off, before pecking a small kiss on the cheek. Jonas smiled, the ping of guilt just as powerful as before the workout. Great He breathed.

* * *

They had spent the last hour grooming and dressing, Lucas always managed to impress him, and together, Jonas admitted to himself, they looked damn good. They waited at one of the restaurants, conveniently just outside the hospital. If they received any updates, they would be in and through the doors in no time. Jonas took a slug of the water, he was exhausted, but on a post-workout high. He loved the endorphins, and it seemed to comfort his slight digression with Rylii.

"There they are," Lucas mumbled over dabbing his mouth with the napkin, "Badim!" He called out, disturbing the neighbor tables. Clare was dressed exquisitely and if Jonas hadn't known her prior to the dinner, he would've easily labelled her as a diplomat. Badim cleaned up pretty well too.

"Well then," Lucas said, "Shall we get our feast on or what? I'm starving."

Kyp had left hours ago, and the med droid had released her to try and walk around a bit. The energy she had was boiling, she was feeling so much better, but she knew that she and her child had had close calls twice in the last few days, so she should rest it off as much as she could.

She was sitting on a window bench when Sethe burst through the door. She was so surprised, she made a move for her lightsaber, but upon seeing it, thought better of it.

"Sithspit. you scared me!" She exclaimed. He looked nice, desheveled, but clean. His hair was washed, for what seemed like the first time in since she'd known him. She felt awkward sitting there in her hospital grade nightgown. His eyes were wide though, urgent.

"Coral told me what happened, are you alright?" He blurted. He looked red, like he'd been running.

Coral. Coral told him... She frowned, that sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach starting up again. She swallowed and looked out the window again. Why should she care if he was hanging around with Coral Callatros. How was it her business that they were drinking and talking and..... Gods, she sounded like a sore teenager. She had no reason to feel this way. she didn't care. She looked at him.

"I'm fine. Kyp helped me."

"Do you remember who did it?"He asked.

This wracked her patience. "No, why should i? i was unconscious"

There was really nothing for him to say to that, and he looked slightly abashed. "Coral said she checked the tapes..."

And then suddenly, Tseneca did care. She cared a lot. "You know, I don't see why you're being so harried. Its not like we haven't already dealt with this." She said, suddenly angry. Wasn't he supposed to be around for something like this? wasn't he supposed to be looking out for her?"

His brow furrowed. "What's that supposed to mean?"

She took a breath. "I means its not really your concern anymore, so you should go spend the winnings you got last night playing Binspo"

She spat the words out. An alarmed look crossed his face, then angry defensiveness. "You know what? Your attitude is really starting to--"

"To what?" She said. "Chap your hide? really? 'cause no one asked you to be here."

"your frakking dead boyfriend did!" He was yelling now.

That stung, she had to admit. How dare he drag Emmett into this. So Sethe only stuck around because of Emmett? Was that why he'd wanted to take her on? Only because of that? All of that fodder about taking care of the baby, of helping her. Even the kiss, with all it entailed, it was all platitude?

She could feel exhaustion within herself. She hadn't realized what had been pent up until now. That maybe Lucas had been right, that maybe the attraction was more than that. That maybe, for a split second, she'd actually cared for Sethe Bhren. We'll screw that. He was nothing but a cheap mercenary.

"Leave. Now." She hissed angrily.

"Gladly." He exited the room, slamming the door behind him

Badim and Clare had made their way back to their suite from the rest of the group, to get ready for the dinner arrangements Lucas had made. At first glance it seemed they were going to huddle around and stay close together, but they slowly dispersed every which way throughout The Haze. Funny, there was a cantina of the same name he and Clare had gone to on Corellia while they had waited for The Killer’s Fate to be upgraded in CEC. They didn’t do much, and it was just a place to relax and pass the time.
If Badim had known Clare was an assassin, he’d probably be able to pick out some points where she tried to kill him, but The Haze Cantina probably protected him, it was too open for her to strike.

* * *

Badim and Clare were walking towards the restaurant Lucas had chosen, fully cleaned, showered and dressed. Clare looked beautiful, and he didn’t know what she thought of him. He was just in his standard attire, a black t-shirt and black slacks with a pair of white lines running down the sides. He was shaved after a month, and before the hairs on his jaw line had begun to darken and make him look unclean, though he kept some around his mouth just for looks. He dismissed the thought, he had to admit she looked more elegant than he did.

“Badim!” Lucas called from a table, waving to the two. Badim lifted a hand and so did Clare, walked through the main entrance and seated across from Jonas and Lucas.

"Well then," Lucas said, "Shall we get our feast on or what? I'm starving."

“Lets.” Clare said eagerly.

The conversations were kept light, though Badim wondered how long until curiosity would get the better of Lucas and he would start asking Clare where she had been. Surely everyone had been curious as to what she had been doing in her time of absence. But if Lucas didn’t ask, Badim knew Clare hated being the center of attention and would keep it to herself. But some pieces of the conversation were directed at the two on Clare’s pregnancy, which always brought a thin smile to Badim at the thought. A family.

Kyp had managed to quell his stomach's need for food again, this time without incident. There had been nothing on the tapes and no evidence of the culprit. Since the incident he had found it difficult to sit still. Everyone else had gone off once again to tend to their matters but here he was worried sick. It deeply disturbed him and made him feel weak. He cared for some of these people and that had always been his downfall.

His numerous enemies knew him well. He himself had very little weaknesses. He had stripped himself of any innocence long ago. The people he loved were his weakness. Kyp had already felt eager to speak to Jaina after hearing of Fel's death but knew it would do very little good. She was tough and probably had already spoke to a number of family members.

What was he going to do with Tseneca? He had known from the beginning, on Kuat, that she'd be a handful. Eventually she had proven to be much more than that. She was stubborn as a mule but that was no surprising considering her profession till late. She had gone from royalty to ship captain, a jump most in her position would not have done. He was sure she had to prove her abilities before, prove that she wasn't just a princess.

Kyp walked down the hall to her room but was cut short as Sethe exited fuming from something Tseneca had said. He wasn't making Kyp feel any less hostile towards him in the process. It seemed like he had better business to attend to as he paced away.

Even from twenty meters away Kyp could feel the heavy air surrounding her room. They needed to speak more about earlier. However he decided it was best to simply wait. She would feel his presence and allow his company when she saw fit. Or so he hoped.

Tseneca poked her head out of the room, a minute or so after Sethe had left.
Kyp was still standing there. She knew he was.

"It's okay, you can come in."

Kyp entered, closing the door shut after him. "Should you be up?" He asked.

She nodded. "They said I could, and anyway, I feel better. one of the human doctors said I could leave by tomorrow morning."

"What was that about." He thumbed in the direction of the door.

She shook her head. "I'd rather not talk about it."

He sat down on the window seat, looking very Jedi-like, despite the fact that he was dressed in civilian clothes. She could make out his lightsaber, resting primly on his hip. "You didn't ask me, but I'll tell you, If you have feelings for each other, you should talk about it. You're both acting like children."

"I wish it were that easy." She sat adjacent to him on one of the more comfortable visitors chairs.

"It is that easy." he said.

He had a subtle way of mocking her, but making it seem so much less chastising. It was the teacher in him, she supposed. She was glad he was back.

"How was Deyer?" She asked, she wanted to change the subject.

"Complicated." He said, and told her about his experience. It seemed surreal, what he described, but she didn't want to pry. At least he was alright.

"What are you going to do with her?" No one had really touched upon the subject of the young woman he'd brought back with him. Mostly, everyone had ignored her, and she kept out of sight.

"I'm not sure." He said. "Its a lot to think about right now..."

"Isn't everything." She smiled at him, a small smile, one that showed that she understood, wish she could help, and not outweigh the things he had to deal with. The older man, exhaled.

"You have some things you need to speak about, I think. You're withholding." His voice was firm.

She'd remembered everything about the night she and Sethe had been trapped in the hold. Everything, the vision, all of it. and so she told him all of it... the voice, the feeling of cold dread, the suffocation...

"It called me Gray." She finished. "Whatever it was was after Lucas, and there was nothing I could do to stop it."

His eyes were dark. "It could have just been a hallucination..."

"Maybe, but it was so... real."

He nodded again, and she was sorry for interrupting. "I've been thinking about this, actually. Do you know what a Gray Jedi is?"

She shook her head.

"Its the type of force user that defies the conventions of most jedi. Often, Grays walk a fine line between light and dark without falling ill to either. Your actions on Thyferra demonstrated quite a bit when it comes to force using, and your abilities have greatly improved since we last saw one another."

She stiffened. Being reminded about what she had done to her uncle left her with a sick feeling in her stomach. "What does this have to do with me?"

He looked at her patiently. "If your not going to accept training, as a convention of becoming a Jedi, then you will have to accept a role as a Gray. Your learning is sparse, and un-profound. You've hardly had enough study to wield a lightsaber properly. I have an apprentice, and can only mentor you, but if you were to seek apprentice-ship elswhere it would have to be by the hands of someone whose familiar with your... speifications."

She smirked. "You make me sound like a droid."

He chuckled. "Be that as it may, you'll need to keep that in mind as your abilities grow."

"What about my vision?" She was still worried, wanted to cycle back around to the source.

He shook his head. "There's no real telling. It requires a significant amount of meditation. Thats the only answer I have for you."
