After tatooine:

It didn't take them long to clear departure procedures with the spaceport, and by the time they had, Badim and Clare, as well as H6 were on board and settling into their cabin. Jonas had gone into his bunk room to shower.

She was horrified. Lucas had crash landed on Hoth. She'd tried to hail him, but the interplanet communication was poor. There was no telling if he was okay, or...

"Stop it." Sethe took a seat next to her. "You know as well as I do that the kid can take care of himself, and he's not alone."

She nodded solemnly. "If he sent me a distress signal, its important."

"What about the Leaper?" Sethe pitched.

She looked at him, eyes flashing. "This is important."

They had no idea where Mycah was going with the leaper, only that he was long gone. Once they'd found Lucas, they could continue the search. Until then, however, this took precident.

Sethe started the ship and they took off. It wasn't long before they could see tatooine, glowing against the pitch of the sky. Her anxiety left her little time to admire it. She wrung her hands and pushed herself back in her chair. It was only a matter of time...

"Strap in, We're gonna jump." Sethe called back into the aft of the ship. Clare and Badim were still in their cabin, neither had spoken much since boarding.

Sethe hit the marker to jump, but nothing happened.

Tseneca blinked once at the console, then looked at him. He looked confused. He flipped the switches off then on again. "Again..." He hit the marker.

The ship made a shuddering sigh, then died off. "What the Frak..." Sethe muttered.

"Should I get out and push?" Tseneca said, and he glared. Once more, he shut the hyperspace down, and fired it up.

"Punch it." He said, half to himself, and hit the marker for the third time.

The ship lurched to life, throwing itself into lightspeed. Unbraced, they were both thrown back into their seats. Tseneca felt a rush of relief but then...

There was a rasping laugh spreading like sparks over comm. A hissing, popping voice came through. "Third times a charm, hmmmm?" Mycah's disembodied chortle, cracked and high pitched hit her ears.

Sethe was the first the smell it, the burnt plastic sweet smell of...

He tore his crash webbing off and lunged toward her, his massive hand covering her nose and mouth even as she unhooked her own restraints. They pulled each other toward the aft of the ship holding their breath as poisonous fumes leaked their way into the bridge, released by the jump to lightspeed.

Tseneca's eyes were burning from the gas, and she had already breathed in enough of it to know that it was lying restless in her lungs. She wanted to cough, but the precious air she held was the only thing that was keeping her up. Was it fatal, the gas? What was it? Her lungs were starting to burn as Sethe half dragged her down one of the corridors. She felt woozy.

He felt hurridly along the ground with his foot, then dropped and started prying at one of the durasteel plates. What was he...?

A smuggler's hatch. He opened it a little ways and pushed her down into it, then he followed, pulling it shut after them both.

It was dark, but she could feel him moving about, checking for cracks. She exhaled the stale air and took a breath.

"Slowly." He whispered through the dark. "shallow breaths. The gas is still coming in through the cracks..."

"Can you stop it?" She tried not to make her voice sound panicked, but knew she couldn't help it.

"No." he whispered. "We have about five minutes left of fresh air before..."

Before what? there was no way of knowing. She pressed her back against the durasteel wall. It was cool and solid. She pressed her hand to her belly warm with promise. Not much of a promise now. Even if they survived, and landed on the ice planet through the auto-pilot, how much will she have inhaled? What damage had already been done?

Sethe had stopped feeling around and she could feel his form slide over to her in the dark. His breath was slow, deliberate. Already she was beginning to feel lightheaded. They were quiet for a few minutes.

"I want to tell you its going to be okay..." He started, quietly.

"you should save your breath." she whispered back. She wondered about Badim and Clare. If the door was shut in the cabin, maybe they had some time. And Jonas... she couldn't bear to think of it.

"Whats the difference between two minutes of air and five?" He asked sarcastically.

"Priorities." She joked back.

She felt herself start to tremble. Whatever poison had already seeped into her body was making her blood run in a different way. She felt Sethe slide his arms around her and position himself between her and the cold wall. He held her, his own body starting to shake.

"Mesh'la." He said, but his voice caught in his throat. his slow, even breath was against her cheek.

The dizziness was starting to cloud her head. She tilted her cheek and leaned upward, felt his mouth on hers, warm, chapped from the winds of beggars canyon. He kissed her softly, then urgently, clinging to her tightly.

"Priorities..." he whispered, breaking from their fevered liplock. He stroked her hair back from her face, and curled his fingers around the almost indescernable bulge of her stomach.

They were quiet. Against the floating sensation, the dizziness and Sethe's arms around her, Tseneca hardly notice as she lost consciousness and slipped into oblivion...

The gas isn't lethal. Its a hallucinogen. Have fun!

Badim welcomed Clare into the quarters that had been given him while he had gone to Ord Mantell. Sethe would probably like to not have to change access codes again, and probably left it alone. There was a new worry among the crew aside from access codes. Lucas needed their help. On Hoth no doubt. H6 strode in after them and shut the door, proceeding to a corner to power down. The peeping wampa wouldn’t get the chance to see anything however, except for a kiss or two before bed, he and Clare weren’t going to be doing anything in the way they had been doing things recently.
“Hoth.” Badim muttered as he settled on the bunk next to Clare, her hands carefully around her belly as she tried to cradle her yet-to-be-born child, “Why’d Lucas have to crash on Hoth? Rhen Var is cold enough, but I hear Hoth is ten times colder.”

“He probably crashed the same way we did on Rhen Var. Maybe an asteroid hit them.” she winked. Badim remembered that vividly. The gut-wrenching sound of an asteroid slamming into the engineering section aboard The Killer’s Fate, the sound of an escape pod launching and the realization that there was one left, then the bone crunching sound and lurch of The Killer’s Fate slamming against the tip of a mountain, sending the ship spiraling and Badim into a bulkhead.
Badim shivered. He had never come so close to death and he could still feel a bruise or two from the crash. The Jedi had done wonders on his body and he thanked Nik wholeheartedly. They heard the hyperdrive whine and shudder. Then silence. Badim and Clare looked at each other. They hadn’t felt the lurch of the ship jumping into hyperspace, they only heard silence and felt stillness.

The hyperdrive whined and died again. A final time and the ship lurched aggressively into hyperspace.
A rasping laugh came over the comm and shipwide. A disgusting sounding man, or woman came over the speakers. Badim couldn’t tell what gender the person was and likely didn‘t care at the moment. "Third times a charm, hmmmm?"

Badim and Clare looked at each other quizzing, then H6 shot to life.
Statement: Danger! Harmful toxin detected!” H6 immediately rushed out the door of the cabin and shut it behind him. Badim and Clare looked at each other curiously, before Clare’s eyes began to water and she coughed. Badim was about to ask what was happening when he too felt what she felt. Badim took in a quick breath through his nose and instantly figured out what was happening, and from the look on Clare’s face she could understand it as well. Gas.

The crew was being poisoned and he and Clare didn’t have much time to react. Badim grabbed the sheets and pillow from the bunk above them. He passed the pillow to Clare who buried her head in it in an instant. Badim grabbed a pair of his vibroknives and the heavy blanket, rushing up to the air vent in the side of the room.

He braced the blanket and pinned it to the vent with the blades.

He turned back to Clare to see her face exposed and her body hunched over in limpness. Badim blinked hard in disbelief, to see Clare in the same position he had originally left her in. His head was dizzy and his world spun. But, which one was true? His eyes were playing tricks on him and--The Gas. That’s what was doing this. He was just imagining this and quickly grabbed another pillow. Using one hand to brace the pillow to his face, he used the other to hold Clare as they waited desperately for something to happen or to smell fresh air at last. Their worlds spun and their thoughts revolved around the crew. But Badim’s was more worried about Clare and their child. If this was done by Mycah, of which Tseneca had told him the situation when Badim and Clare rejoined the crew, and if Clare and her child were harmed by this gas—Mycah was going to die in the most merciless way he could think of.

He held Clare tightly as they both whimpered against the gas. Was this it for them?

H6 rushed down the corridors of The Escrow towards the air filtering systems when he came across the room belonging to Jonas. H6 rapped the door loudly in hopes that he had a sort of immunity towards the gas as much as H6 had. Though there was no answer and H6 slipped his smallest finger into the code-cylinder slot next to the door. A key-hole as some would call it. A small extension left his finger and attached into the inwards of the slot. His connections sparked and came alive as he bypassed the door’s security and privacy measures with ease. Surely Sethe had only put security measures on the main entrances, not the cabins themselves and the door slid open.

H6 saw Jonas, slumped on the ground as his head wobbled in confusion. He looked towards H6 and instantly fell back in fear. His already pounding heart pushed even harder from what H6’s sensors could detect. The twenty year old human male was frightened, and H6’s cross referencing software algorithms finally discovered what the gas was. A Hallucinogen. Jonas was exhibiting clear signs of the side effects, including--
“Get away!” Jonas shouted as he began to scurry back, holding a flimsiplast pen in a way to try and threaten H6, “I’ve got a lightsaber!”

Insanity.

H6 quickly strode up to the man, knocking the pen away and putting a hand against his mouth. A small canister along his forearm extended outwards and a jet of fresh air entered Jonas’ nose. H6 kept it up until he could visibly see that Jonas was fairing better now and could possibly take instructions.

Suggestion: Jonas, the ship is experiencing an attack with a hallucinogen gas. Head to your designated bunk and protect your face as well as you can.”

Jonas nodded and H6 released his mouth, Jonas sounded a little upset and worried that he no longer had fresh air to breath from, but followed his instructions as the gas slowly came back to him.

H6 left the boy, the specific gas wouldn’t cause too much harm to the crew as long as H6 found the source of sabotage and disabled it quickly. He had several minutes at the most and his body lurched forward in hast.

He found the source of the attack, a device with a pair of green canisters attached to it, of which was attached to the air recycling module. The device blocked normal intake, sucked air in and let the gas taint the air, then let the air release into the rest of the ship with a muted Poof.

H6 began to get to work, hoping he wasn’t too late.

PG-13 for graphic violence

There was a rap at the door.

Dont... He thought he heard his mother whisper, hoarse and terrified. Oh, but he had to answer it. What if it was...

It wasn't. The monstrosity entered, each of its sliding black tentacles reaching out and exposing the bloody ruins of men. Sethe was grabbing for a blaster, a blade, anything... but was moving in horrible slow motion. He watched the thing grab her, but suddenly it wasnt his mother, it was Tseneca and she was screaming as the thing tore her limb from limb. Sethe felt hot blood spatter over his face and burn as he howled...

hands and arms were beating against him, legs were kicking out. His eyes fluttered open to nothing but darkness. The screaming in his ears rang out and he felt the cosciousness tear at him. His chest constricted as an elbow landed in his chest. The body screamed again, incoherent. Then a snap- hiss, and crimson light poured into the small room.

Tseneca had rolled away, and crouched against the other wall of the crawl space, eyes wild, muttering. His heart pounded like a jackhammer, and he tried to yell at her, but his tongue felt thick in his mouth. It would come back... no, it was here, it was....

He pulled himself backward, even as Tseneca pounced on him. He rolled away from the arc of the blade and felt the white hot stench of his hair being burned.

Her arms became tentacles, tips sharp as daggers and he kicked her off of him sending her crashing into the blast wall. The glow of the blade shut off as it fell from her grip.

A moment of lucidity and he lunged at where it had fallen. She let out a blood curdling shriek, and tackled him, scratching and biting at him.

He felt a burning over his ears, and a pain in his arm as her teeth sunk into his flesh. All he could think, in delerium was monster... monster. He shoved, hard, and there was a sharp crack as her skull hit the bulkhead. Her ear-splitting cries ceased and, mortified, moving in and out of his dream-like state he backed against the other wall. What had he done? Oh god...

Lucas...

There was a harsh whisper in the white light of some dream, somewhere, she couldn't be sure. White, cold, streaming light. and a pinging sound of bells somewhere far off...

Lucas

It was a cold whisper. Bringing back a horrible fear into her heart, turning it icy, even as it beat like a restless drum.

She raised her hand, and in it sat a lightsaber. Not her own, she ignited it, a pale yellow blade, like sunshine, flowed from it...

a laugh, feminine chuckle, coy, calling ... Lucas

"Stop it!" She screamed. But the laughter grew louder, evil, rhythmic.

The dark apparition came before she could stop it, it flowed forward and up into her nose and mouth. No breath came, was in her tightening around her bones and muscles restricting her, suffocating her.

She struck out trying to scream, pulling the blade out and aiming for the darkness. It wrestled her to the ground, even as she struggled to fight it off.

What will you do about it, little Gray? challanged the voice, and the laughter rang sharply in her ears. I will have the boy...

Tseneca yelled, screamed, and struggled to free herself. she couldn't find where force rested within her, it was as though it had abandoned her altogether.
She was being swallowed whole.

"NO!" She yelled. Then a jolt and a flash of blinding pain, and the laughter faded into darkness....

so... the last two posts take up the same time frame, one was what was happening to Sethe and the other, with Tseneca, at the same time. the disembodied voice was Lumiya. Alex, i hope thats okay, i'll change it if its not.

Clare tried as best she could to fight off the dizziness for the sake of her child. She didn’t know what this gas was and assumed the worse that it was killing her. She jumped in alarm as red lights began to strobe and a siren sounded. Critical Failure. Where had H6 gone? What was he doing? But as quickly as the crisis had came she didn’t smell burnt plastic anymore. Just clean air and the room returned to it’s normal state. She removed the pillow from her face and scanned the room, the floor covered in a faint green fog as the gas receded. She turned to Badim.
The pillow he had was gone but she didn’t see Badim. She didn’t see anything that would accompany his features. She only saw green skin; two round lobes on the being’s forehead and two fat ligaments hanging lazily from the back of his head. Candrog D’lotre. With a hiss she lunched forward and began to claw at his face as he whimpered in surprise, but instantly fought back.

She was pinned on the ground, her hair scattered around her while she saw Candrog’s hands lower down onto her; gripping her neck and beginning to squeeze. She croaked for air, and with every breath she took she was getting less air into her lungs than she was letting out.

Clare looked at Candrog with fire, slamming her leg upwards and into his crotch. He faltered, but used a free hand to swat her leg away; snapped his knees together to make sure that didn’t happen again and continued.
She saw a flash: Red lights flashing and sirens blaring. What was happening? Then she gasped and lost more breath as she saw Badim. Clamping down on her neck with disgust and vengeance adorning his face. Candrog returned; it was truly Candrog above her, his scaled and oily skin wrapped around her neck. But something wasn’t right. Where was Badim? She cried in her head, tears seeping outwards as she wondered why Badim would leave her alone to die.
With as much breath as she could muster, she uttered her weakest word with tears in desperation that he’d hear it, “Badim…” it was muted. Barely heard and her world went dark.

Badim was clamping down on Urnath Dirod‘s throat. His teeth gritted and poised for his blood. Why had he come back of all times? What had he done with Clare and their child? Why wouldn’t he just die? He asked these questions as he felt Dirod jam his knee into Badim’s groan. He lost breath for a moment, but forcefully gripped the leg that had struck him and set it aside, closing the gab between his own legs to ensure it wouldn’t happen again. He pushed down harder, the red lights around him setting the mood of vengeance and anger.
He spat words out of his mouth in interrogation, “Where’s Clare!?” he shouted, but Dirod only tears what Duros could and muttered “Badim…” in the most familiar voice he could remember. Clare. Dirod’s eyes closed and Clare replaced his form. Badim released his grip and staggered back, his mind beginning to clear. She lay still, unmoving. He fell on his back as he looked in horror. Had he just killed the one he loved and the child she carried?

He crawled over to her limp body, holding her close as he tried to find a pulse but didn’t find anything. His world shifted and the atmosphere went dark. He could only see his hands as Clare’s form vanished. In this new dark environment, he sobbed where Clare used to be before she disappeared. If he ever got out of this mess, he was going to kill Mycah.

Bombs hailed from the sky like rain from a Kamino thunderstorm, as the Techno Union launched its assault against Tatooine. Jonas scrambled, the cantina crowd had morphed into a panicked frenzy. He looked around, he couldn't see anyone he knew, and within minutes the sands were overrun by a chaotic horde of fleeing residents. Jonas was pushed, an older woman was dragging her grandson by the hand and shoved him into the back of a speeder. It only took a few seconds before the pair were airborne, then the signature hum of the droid starfighters and red bolts, sent the speeder flying towards his position. The child's last scream, terrified agony, ear piercing in volume, as it flew overhead and crashed into a rodian deli.

His blood was pumping fast, he could feel the vibrations of his heart against the chest, air was difficult to process. Jonas trekked against the buildings, starfighters continued to strafe the crowd, and after the sand settled, the streets were littered with bodies. A dropship managed to make its way, and hundreds of battle droids marched into all directions. He dropped into a building, he could feel the end was near.

One of them stopped, and looked at him. Fear pulsed, his body sending flight responses, he just needed to get away. But then he remembered... he was a Jedi!

"Get away, I've got a lightsaber!" The droids hated his people, the Jedi.

Suddenly the droid advanced, its hand wrapped around his mouth. He closed his eyes, believing the end was near. When he opened them, he realized he wasn't on the sandy surface of Tatooine any more, but on a starship. It was familiar, but the droid still looked menacing. "“Suggestion: Jonas, the ship is experiencing an attack with a hallucinogen gas. Head to your designated bunk and protect your face as well as you can.”

Jonas nodded as best as he could. The droid was programmed with a list of local travelers, his name would be recalled with a simple check to the droid control ship in orbit. When the droid was out of sight, Jonas dived under the cantina's bar and removed a long blaster pistol.

He'd take out as many as these clunkers as possible...

H6 strode to the door to the maintenance area he was in, with the toxic gas building and continually releasing the toxin throughout the ship with a rhythmic sssssss-poof-dung-sssssss-poof-dung. With the compartment sealed, not wanting to be disturbed by the increasingly insane crew, he moved to the device. The construction was peculiar, homemade but looked like it was of professional build. Surely this had to have been planned and H6 was sure to make a note of it to the crew once they became sane again.

He popped open the panel to the device to work on it, only to get three needles to shoot out and ping off his chest. H6 managed to catch one and looked at the cylinder curiously, containing the same substance as the gas but in liquid form. Assumingly the saboteur hadn’t planned on an inorganic being to disable the device. The dose would have driven anyone injected with it, let alone three, far into insanity much quicker than the gas itself. And with three, it would likely be fatal. Though he would be smirking if he had a manipulative jaw and mouth, so the least he could do was smile inwardly to himself and let out a disappointing sigh. If the saboteur would have wanted to efficiently deal with an organic or inorganic being, surely an explosive would have been a better deterrent.

H6 slipped his hands into the device, his photoreceptors switching to a micro camera attached to the tip of his slender, robotic finger. He flicked the finger around, scanning the innards of the thing harming the crew’s minds to find a weak spot. He found the power core to the device, though turned away from it. In holonovels the first thing a hero would have done is disconnect the power, in reality it didn’t work as such. There were backup power units, fail-safes and likely a deathswitch activated at the sudden loss of power.

Instead, he went to the source, finding the intake valve sucking air in and into the tainting chamber. He crimped the hoses leading to the tainting chamber and heard the device beginning to build into a whine. It was overheating and becoming unstable. He disconnected the green cylinders, taking the risk of an explosive that never followed. Relieved he took the cylinders and left for the aft, hearing the dull thud of the device exploding and his sensors detected the toxin in the air was slowly decreasing in amount. Slowly, and maybe too slowly.

H6 arrived at the aft section of The Escrow and placed the cylinders in a side, maintenance airlock. He closed the door and sealed it tightly. With an press of a switch, and the bypassing of several safety overrides, the airlock opened and the cylinders were flung into hyperspace in a flash. Dealt with.

H6 quickly turned his attention to the rest of the crew, trying to seek out Tseneca and Sethe. He hadn’t seen them at all since he had begun his rescue operation.

A stream of light pushed Sethe back into consciousness. He took a breath. Air. Real air. He sucked it in, even as his eyes fluttered open.

"Holy Hell!" He yelped as his vision cleared and H6's formidable body appeared against the light.

"Statementt: I've eliminated the source of the gas, Human Captain Sethe, quality air levels are reaching nominal.

Nominal. Still relatively delerious, Sethe chuckled and played the word over in his brain. Nom-nom-nominal. Hahaha. He sat up, doing his best to resist the urge to vomit. He self checked, playing absent-mindedly at the tears in his jacket, the scab of an old blaster wound... when was that?... and a swelling of blisters along his forearms to match bruises on his legs.

"Good, good, good." He grinned.

"Inquiry: Thats the woman Tseneca? Is she in repose?"

And then suddenly, it all seemed to come flooding back... The gas, shoving tseneca and himself down into the smuggler's hold, their kiss. All of it. And a semi-lucid dream where he'd...

"Oh god." He lurched to his feet, pushing himself half-crouched past storage chests. There she was, sprawled and still, blood pooled, haloed under her head like a gruesome pillow.

"no. no..no.no." His mind was still not functioning as it should. He was hazed and giggling ironically, even as he reached forward to cradle her head and vie for a pulse.

There, there it was. Faint but there.

"Help me get her up." He said, his voice cracking. H6 moved swiftly, pulling Tseneca's limp form out of the hold.

Sethe helped the droid drag her awkwardly to sickbay. Jonas, eyes bloodshot and wide, poked his head out of the cabin. "Bartender..." he heard the boy mumble, but he kept walking.

The sickbay cabin was dark, and Sethe rushed blindly to the oxygen tank, grabbing down a mask and applying it to his own face. He breathed the cleaner air in, his head clearing with each inhalation. more was coming back. She'd pounced on him with a lightsaber, what else could he have done.

"Set her on the table." he ordered the droid. "Then take this to each of the cabins, Badim and Clare first, since Jonas is already up." He handed the oxygen tank to the droid, and instructed him on how to use the mask. There was no telling how debilitated the rest of the crew were, the droid would have to cope as a nurse, at least for the moment.

H6 left, and Sethe placed the remaining tank's mask on Tseneca, then began hooking her up to life support. He turned her head. The gash was wide, but not deep. He could do the stitches, bacta would have to do the rest, at least externally. It was the internal that was he was afraid of, even as his mind began to take focus and the shock of reality began to take effect.. Her brain, and, god forbid, the baby. He started stitching up the wound.

Suddenly, without warning, the lifesupport sensors started bleeping urgently. Seth looked down, and saw Tseneca's body tense, eyes shifting back and forth erratically beneath their lids, as if in some possessed rem sleep state. Sethe placed a hand on her forheard, trying desperately to think of what to do. what she having a seizure?

what was going on in there?

It would be very hard to describe what exactly was happening. Tseneca knew that she was unconscious, which was strange in itself. She also knew that she was lying on the table in sickbay, and she knew that Sethe was pulling a needle and thread through the gash in the back of her head. She felt nothing, only consciousness in her state of unconsciousness. Also she felt a disbelief that it was actually happening. She wanted to yell, but couldn't.

Tsen...

Emmett? his voice came in, forging into her mind like a sharp pang. She felt a fluttering in her chest.

Tsen... listen... the baby, you have to help her

She shivered once, and the illumination hit her wildly. The baby, she'd forgotten. How long since she'd breathed clean air? What if...?

She's alive... but you have to help her. now Tsen.

Emmett's voice was culling through her growing panic. She felt the pressure of his comforting hand on her forehead, but knew, in reality, that it was Sethe's.

Now, Tsen

The voice was more urgent. Tseneca took a deep breath and felt her heart dip. She furrowed her mind, her consciousness toward the place in her where the force cycloned, the haven where she'd once rested. The inky black, melded with the threads of light and she pushed outward, instructing it to search within her, down deep, for the tiny body. They coiled like wild fire, and she heard, faint and true, the smallest heartbeat.

She tugged at the force, stuggling to surround the little body with a protective cocoon. She could feel her living body sweating, could hear faintly the blip of a life support beacon. She ignored it, sewing the force threads tightly around her child's heart, making it pulse.

She gasped for air as a sudden pain ripped through her. No. she thought, and pushed harder, weaving the force like a blanket. It was too hard, the child was dying. no.. no no... she could do this, she had to do this.

She took another breath, and plunged in with her mind. With a din of light and dark she reached forward and into the tiny life form. She felt it squirm, almost in protest at the invasion. Little one... little one she thought, trying to comfort it, knowing that it didn't matter. There was no brain yet, hardly a body. Only life. and she had to preserve that, despite any maternal instincts she might have to personify the embryo.

There, there it was, the small beating of the heart, the fluid pumping of blood. She reached out, manipulating force fingers toward the source, finding a rhythm and following it. In and out, that was the flow... the blood must be carried to and from, like any living being. She pushed harder, carrying the heartbeat, like the delicate flower it was. Opening, closing. The valves working in time to the almost indiscernible intake of breath. she couldn't let it die, not this one precious thing.

Little one... little one...

And then suddenly it was over. The pulse quickened suddenly, and then stabilized with a not-nearly audible sigh. She felt her mind rush back felt the warmth of the force-cradle, as if she were holding her baby for the first time. such a moment of peace I did it... its done. She thought and let the weight of true unconsciousness take her.

Wake up. Please wake up. Badim murmured in his head countless times. The dark world had vanished and Clare had reappeared but her body was still limp. His head was still in a daze but he could smell fresh air. He didn’t care if he had fresh air or not. All he wanted was Clare, and she had slipped away. His eyes were closed when he felt a familiar touch run across his cheek. His eyes shot open but Clare was still in the same way he had been holding her for over five minutes.
The door to their cabin opened wide and a menacing creature walked in. His red body and deep yellow eyes glaring at him with lust for death. He had come for Clare, to take her to the Netherworld of the Force he had heard rumors that all creatures went there. Simply put a heaven to the common man. He wasn’t going to let the creature take her away, slowly let Clare rest on the ground with her eyes and body unmoving; and rushed at the death bringer.

The creature reacted swiftly, grabbing Badim’s neck and holding it firmly. A tall knife rose from it’s hand and was lunged into Badim’s face. He muttered and screamed, but they lessened and he saw the creature flash several times in the form of his droid. H6-32. The rush of cool, clean air filled him and his mind cleared after a brief moment. He realized the knife was a delusional breathing mask and he breathed in deeply. But the memory of killing Clare and their child remained.

The droid removed the mask after a brief flicker in his eyes suggested he had scanned his Master and saw he was reaching normal condition. His body, yes. But his mind was still stained and broke. He turned to Clare to hold her limp body again, only to see she was propped up, using her elbows as a brace with her eyes curiously looking at Badim. Their eyes met and Badim instantly snatched an air cylinder and mask from H6 and practically slid on his knees to Clare’s side.

He turned on the air and genially held the mask to her mouth and nose, clearing her body of the toxins that had plagued the crew.

“What about the others?” he asked his question to H6, fearing he and Clare were the only survivors of this mayhem. Clare slowly coming to.

Recollection: Jonas is delusional, thinking he’s a Jedi in a cantina from what I could piece together in his speech. Tseneca and Sethe are in the medbay…” H6 paused. He never paused from what Badim had known of the droid, something bad had happened, “Statement: Tseneca has lost a lot of blood to the back of her head and I am worried that she and her microbial infant are permanently injured.”

Badim and Clare looked at each other. Clare motioned her arm in a way to tell Badim he wanted to be on her feet and he helped. Both of their feet were wobbling from the state they were recovering from, and Clare limped as numbness plagued her body from what Badim did to her. She shook her foot vigorously to try and shake the numbness out, “That’s going to be numb for a while.” Clare muttered as she gave up.

A pain shot up between Badim’s legs and he almost doubled over, but kept on his feet, “That knee of your’s is going to make me sore for a while.”

Clare chuckled as the three walked to the medbay, “Not like we could do that with me being pregnant.”

H6 almost uttered a surprised exclaim, before Jonas popped his head out of his cabin they were passing and slurred, “Prrrregnaaaant?”

Clare shot him a glance, he was still delusional the three could tell easily. Before H6 could walk up, Clare spoke up, “Yeah, I’m pregnant. Now go back in and play Jedi.” Badim looked at Clare and saw a playful grin. Normally Jonas would have dismissed it and gone about his business, but he grinned, gripped a flimsiplast pen and almost went back into his cabin, but H6 didn’t allow it and grabbed Jonas’ neck as he slashed the pen across H6’s metal chest.

Badim and Clare left H6 to help Jonas recover, they were at the entrance to the medbay when Jonas yelled out, “What the frak!?”

Clare pressed a button on the door and the two of them saw Sethe tending to Tseneca. Badim led a hopping Clare to a medical gurney adjacent to Tseneca so they could both be as close as they could to their captain. The blips of life support lines setting an eerie tone.

He pushed the droid off of him, the last of the hallucinations had dissipated. It was an interesting feeling, caught in between illusion and reality. To know that something you had just experienced was not real, was unsettling. Jonas cruised the corridors, but mainly to the bridge. He couldn't face the wounded Tseneca. Everything in his life was spiraling out of control, and he felt like he didn't have a grasp on anything any more. Mycah was playing with them, but it was more than that. He had crippled his entire foundation.

Jonas mulled over the thought of suicide. It would be easy, just a quick blast to the face and it would all be over. He shook himself, what was he thinking? The gas was most likely laced with a depressant, or somekind of emotional accelerator. He felt intense fear, anger, and now deep, dark depression. The joy at some points and laughter was empty. The ship slipped from hyperspace, the blue-white planet of Hoth arriving in front of the view screen. Jonas took the liberty of assuming control. He might've been depressed, but he was fully able to pilot a ship quite like the Escrow, it was second nature. Boots had drilled the variety of freighters into his brain, just a few simple adjustments, but it was an easy learning curve.

Jonas connected with the Imperial Remnant base. "Attention freighter, please identify your business and nature within the Hoth system."

"Echo base, this the freighter Escrow. Eisley speaking." He let that linger for a bit, his tongue was a little numb and difficult to control. "We received a distress signal from a Republic shuttle, can you confirm?"

There was a long pause, and suddenly, a different voice. "We can confirm. We have not received any survivors. Our scouts are launching in two hours. We'll have a five hour window, before things get hazy again. We advise you stay in orbit, we're sending a squad of starfighters, standard procedure."

Jonas leaned into the console, and watched as twelve blips appeared on the radar. They were armed. "I would also like to point out, Echo Base, we are carrying a Kuati diplomat on board. She wishes to speak to you."

There was another long pause, and the weapon signatures of the starfighter escort disengaged. Interesting. Jonas cut communication and left for the sickbay. He arrived, and avoided looking at Tseneca directly. "We arrived at Hoth's doorstep, low orbit. I made contact, they haven't found any one yet."

Tseneca opened her mouth, but Jonas cut her off, "Sethe, you might want to get up to the bridge, I have a bad feeling about this. It's like they're hiding something. They launched a squad of TIEs to "escort us", but if I hadn't told them we have a diplomat onboard from Kuat, I believe they were going to shoot us down." The cabin was quiet. Times were changing in the galaxy, and suddenly, the old Imperial war personality was creeping back. True or Remnant, it didn't matter. They were cold-hearted bastards. "Could you give us a minute?" He looked at Badim and Clare, who nodded and parted, H6 clunking after them.

Jonas took to the bedside and slipped his hands into hers. "Lucas would want to be here right now, but I'm as good as that gets." He smiled, still trying not to directly look at her.

TIEs? Clare repeated in her head. That wasn’t good. At least Jonas didn’t pay her any more attention on the subject of her pregnancy, though she was surprised H6 hadn’t made it a public announcement as she thought he would have. Tseneca was recovering with Jonas at her side and Sethe was in the cockpit. Badim and Clare thought it would be a good place to get something to do and made their way up there. Clare was still down, her arm wrapped around Badim’s shoulder to keep her steady with her still numb foot; her other hand wrapped around her own abdomen, fearing the gas had harmed her still developing child, or her moment of suffocation. Her head was still woozy from the gas and her vision still had a star or two dotting it from the loss of oxygen to her brain.

She heaved her chest. Even if she had been recovering faster than Badim from the gas, holding her body in their quarters while she tried to comfort him by caressing his cheek like he had done to her many times; he was still under the influence under the gas and wouldn’t have known if it were her or not. She had thought he had realized she was fine when he looked at her, but tears quickly followed again. Clare also realized he was still under the effects of the gas when he charged after H6.

Clare shook her head, it was behind them now. It was Mycah’s fault if any of them were injured, not Jonas, not Sethe, Badim or Tseneca. But she couldn’t help but feel full force how she had reacted to Badim being replaced with Candrog, a visible gash on Badim’s face from her nails.

Badim shook, Clare knew he was on the same emotional slope she was in now and held him a little tighter.

They entered the cockpit, where Sethe was at the controls but he was obviously shaken from what he had done to Tseneca. Clare wanted to say that it wasn’t his fault, that it was Mycah’s fault Tseneca got injured. But they were all on an emotional slope, and he probably wouldn’t listen. Clare looked out of the cockpit viewport to see the TIE Squadron heading for them, though a quick glance at the sensors showed they hadn’t powered weapons.

“This isn’t good, Sethe.” Clare said, “They’re Imps. I don’t trust them to keep their word on not killing us.”

Badim nodded to Clare’s response, “What weapons do you have onboard Sethe?”

Clare knew what Badim was suggesting. If Sethe had weaponry aboard The Escrow to defend itself, they would man it. Though, any self-respecting Smuggler, Freighter Owner or just all around Shady Character had weapons onboard.

Tseneca had awakened slowly... enough to feel the jolt as they'd come out of hyperspace, enough to feel Sethe's strong hand on her forehead.

Her eyes opened and focused. He wasn't looking at her, was studying the instruments. She tried to make a noise but it came out as more of a squeak. His head snapped too.

"Don't move." He said, his voice urgent. "You might have a concussion."

She wanted to ask him what had happened, but was trying hard to resist the horrible nausea she felt. It was as if she were waking from a dream, but knew how real it was. The baby was safe, wasn't that what mattered? Anyway, Sethe's eyes were already back on the computer.

The rest of the crew came in, looking dazed. She hoped they were alright. It was Jonas who lied to the Imps on the planet, getting them an in. But the fact that the remnant forces were so at attention made her blood run cold. She thought back the the brotherhood oath she'd made with the others. This really was a war.

Sethe, Badim and Clare left the med bay, Sethe looking both hesitant and relieved to be excused from his post.

Jonas held her hand. "Lucas would want to be here right now, but I'm as good as that gets".

His sentiment touched her, and she used some of her energy to squeeze his hand. When she did speak, it sounded a bit like her vocal cords had been rammed by a snow speeder. "Just as good... sometimes maybe better." She croaked. "You lied to the Imps?"

Jonas nodded. "Yup. There wasn't any other way."

He was sullen, quiet. She could feel the wayward emptiness in him, the sadness. She felt concern, for as much as she cared for Lucas she cared for the Iego boy in much the same way. the two were the closest she'd had to family in a long time.

"He's alive, Jonas, you have to trust me."

Jonas made a face. "Don't do that... read my mind like that..."

She tried to smile, but her lips were dry and they cracked a bit. "It wasn't hard." She pointed to the comm unit with a slack finger. "Turn it on?"

He reached forward and flipped the switch. They listened for a second to the goings on on the bridge.

"What weapons do you have onboard Sethe?" Badim was asking.

"No weapons." Tseneca snapped, her voice cracking. "What are you crazy? the only way we're getting in there is to cow tow."

"Welcome back to the land of the living." Badim said the unit. She rolled her eyes.

"Here's the deal. One of us has to play kuati diplomat. The empire knows me as a thyferran so i'm out. That leaves you Clare... you think you can handle it?"

"Does Jonas get to wear the Telburn costume? I'm only doing it if he has to wear the telburn costume." Clare joked.

Tseneca couldn't help but smile at the expression on Jonas' face. Ah, levity in a time of chaos.

"I'm going to take that as a 'yes'." Tseneca said. Time to put their plan in motion.

Badim was frozen as Clare and Tseneca discussed Clare playing a Kuati Diplomat while on Hoth. He felt uneasy, and if he were right next to Tseneca she’d surely pick it up. He was uneasy because no one aside from H6 knew about Clare being pregnant, and this could easily be a harmful situation they had just walked into. The Empire in shattered shards and remnants was bad enough. But if the news broadcast Clare had told him about was true, then this planet could be apart of the resurrected Zend Empire now, and hostile to them.

“Yes, you can take that as a Yes.”

Sethe swiveled his chair around and looked at Badim, and the comm went silent. Badim shrugged his shoulder and replied to the silence, “I had to bring her up to speed. What more can a guy do?”

Clare shook her foot and planted her boot firmly on the durasteel floor, the numbness finally having subsided. She grabbed Badim’s hand so swiftly he didn’t have time to even take a breath before Clare’s lips quickly connected with his.

It was short, just a peck, then she went to the console and played a stance of high stature. "Don't hurt yourself," Badim said. Clare shot him a glance and nodded to Sethe, who opened the channel.

Clare placed her hands behind her back, just inside the small of her back as she gleamed out the viewport to the ice blue planet Hoth before her. Sethe had just informed them all that they found Kyp's A-Wing in orbit as well. She'd have to make sure he landed as well.

Her breath was thin, quite frankly she had never been put in a place of power; even if she was only playing as a diplomat, she still felt the weight of the lives of everyone onboard and her own child.
“Don’t hurt yourself.” Badim smiled and Clare instantly shot him a glance. Stern and fierce, but playful all the same. She laughed inside her head, she was a mother already.

Her smirk wiped away and she turned to Sethe and nodded. With a flick of his finger the connection to Echo Base was opened and he nodded in reply. You’re on.

Clare had to think quickly, closing her eyes briefly. She tried to remember Lucas, using what he had said about varying Kuati to link her back to what she was trying to—then it hit her. She had seen the name before on a news broadcast of an assassination attempt on Otzori Diplomat: Sheria Otzori. Clare had commented to herself that she looked similar to Sheria, and hoped she could both play her appearance, and play as her, “This is Sheria Otzori representing the Otzori Family on Kuat. Who am I speaking to?” she tried to mimic the accent Lucas always had, and hoped she did a convincing job.

“This is Lieutenant Commander Almir Drenall, Sheria. If I may ask, why is a Kuat Diplomat would be on the Fringes of the Galaxy?”

Clare gulped, “Because I am working closely with Tseneca Lowry of the Thyferrian House of Lowry , and she requires medical attention. Of which you, Lieutenant Commander Drenall, are in command of the closet Imperial Outpost on the fringes.” she made sure not to include Fink in her name, to keep it more formal. Tseneca might not be on with that idea, but she had been around. One alteration of a name and things could fall quickly, “I am also here to ensure that the Republic members of the distress signal didn’t perish on an Imperial World. Not only for that, but because Jedi Lucas Pallanén-Davad is among the members aboard the ship. And if he perished on an Imperial World, such as yours. The Jedi, who have great ties to The New Republic, won’t be very pleased. Neither will the Pallanén-Davad Family, and will likely cease construction of starships for The Imperial Remnant. So I suggest you allow The Royal We and my Telbun arrive on the planet and oversee the rescue efforts.

She glanced at the others and quickly added, “And my personal ship, though it may not be of Kuati make, is filled with my loyal followers, as with the A-Wing I'm sure you too are detecting in orbit, carries a close friend of mine and I request that they land as well and receive just treatment.”

Badim turned his head in silent scoff at Clare’s claim. Oh she was going to have fun with that one.

“Request Granted, Otzori. The TIE Squadron I had dispatched will escort you to Echo Base, follow them in decent.”

So there it was.

Tseneca listened intently to Clare over the channel. Even if the Imps didn't believe them, there was no denying who she herself was, and as acting ruler of the bacta cartel, they wouldn't refuse them safe passage.

Jonas came back into the medbay, wearing the Telbun costume, and looking terribly unhappy.

"Nice hat." She said.

He glared at her.

"Help me up?" She asked and he came over to help her off the gurney.

"Are you sure you should be doing this?" He asked, his voice suddenly concerned.

Truth was, she probably shouldn't and she knew it. With the amount of blood that she'd lost and the baby inside her still recovering, she most likely should have been taking it easy. But the fact remained, Lucas was out there, somewhere, and there was no telling how long he'd survive in Hoth's inhospitable conditions.

Jonas helped her up slowly, sitting up made her head hurt and her stomach churn, but she bolstered herself. Her legs felt weak, but she shook herself off and stood straighter.

Sethe came in, just as she was leaning on Jonas for more support.

"Is this a joke?" He asked, his voice angry.

She looked at him. "Does it look like I'm laughing?"

He growled, moving over to the life support instruments. "You can't be up. You might have some serious head trauma, and on top of that, you need a blood transfusion."

She waved him off, Jonas supporting most of her weight. "We have to get moving Sethe, Lucas---"

"Lucas is the least of your worries. You need to think about the fact that your incapacitated and live with it."He was pulling a syringe out of one of the cabinets. He looked at her, eyes furious, then pulled at her arm and shot her in the bicep. She winced, then felt her pain lessen, her muscles tense, Adreneline mixed with a pain killer. She breathed easier.

"Whats your problem?" She asked, not meaning to sound as harsh as she did.

"You're my problem. If you wont let anyone else help you, at least help yourself."

Jonas moved her arm over so that she was leaning mostly on the gurny. "I don't want to get in the middle of this..."

"Middle of what? Theres nothing to get in the middle of. No one asked Lord righteous here to get in the middle of anything, am I right?"

Seth scowled. "I'm sorry, who stitched up the back of your head?"

"Who threw me into the bulkhead!?" She retorted.

"You tried to kill me!" He shouted.

Jonas piped in "I dont know why you two are arguing, but--"

"Stay out of it." Seth snapped.

"I'm trying to!" Jonas esclaimed, just as Tseneca yelled at Sethe "dont talk to him like that!"

Clare entered the med bay. "Um... is there a problem?" her voice was soft.

"Not a frakking one." Sethe threw down the used syringe and stormed out of
medbay.

Both Jonas and Clare looked at Tseneca for explaination, but she didn't have one. She could try to search her brain for what was wrong with him, but there was no telling. She couldn't remember....

Wait. The smugglers hold. They'd...

She groaned as it flooded back. It was the toxin. and the fatalism... but mostly the toxin. She hadn't remembered the kiss before now, but he must have, especially if she'd inhaled more than he had at the time...

Jonas was staring at her. "Well?" he asked.

She shook her head. It would have to wait. "Well... we need to get down to the planet. there are more important things to focus on here than male ego. lets do this thing."

the next post should be on hoth....

Badim watched as the gangplank rose and locked in place. There were plenty of cabins for the new arrivals, though only if people double bunked. Badim was suspicious of the Empire before while he was on Nar Shaddaa, but now he was even more suspicious, and the behavior matched that perfectly with The Old Empire. He wasn’t even around when The First Death Star was destroyed, not even in the thoughts of his parents when Daala rose to power, and in the middle of a new war with Daara when he was finally born. But he knew enough from holonovels, holodocs and the likes, that The Empire of Old were ruthless and the commander at Hoth matched their personality perfectly.

He shook his head. Kyp was onboard along with his new arrival, his A-wing was in tow and following The Escrow. Badim felt the lurch of Hyperspace, and Jonas, Tseneca, Clare, Sethe and himself tensed slightly as if awaiting the gas again. It didn’t come and Badim sighed. Wherever they were going, he was glad to be off that cold Imperial world and towards somewhere that wasn’t under Imperial control. He shook his head again and opened the door to his cabin, which had been clearly marked as taken so no one else took house on him and Clare.
The door revealed a partially stunned Clare, redressing and shocked that she was an assassin, one of the most trained and deadly assassin’s on Nar Shaddaa, on par with Badim…And she forgot to lock the door. She sighed and waved him in, knowing that it wasn’t anyone else. He shut the door and made sure to lock it, then watched Clare finish her shedding of the played diplomat clothes and redress back into her normal attire. Minus the cloak, that was meant for anywhere but here.
“You seen Lucas yet?” Badim asked.
Clare shook her head, “Last I saw he was just boarding The Escrow. Haven’t gotten a chance to talk to him,” she sneered playfully, “He probably thinks I’m still dead, until Jonas gets around to tell him.”

“Speaking of Jonas,” Badim said, trailing off. “Why don’t you want anyone to know about you just yet?”

“I don’t want special attention right now. Just not for me, I don’t like it.”
Badim nodded his head casually, coming to an understanding, “Like being a diplomat?”
“Exactly. I’m an assassin, former or still, I don’t like being the center of attention. I work from the shadows if possible,” Clare ran a hand through her hair to warm the once nearly frozen locks, stopping at a length of hair that looked like it have been sheered off and sighed, “You’re the exception of course, don’t think I’ve forgotten about you now,” she laughed, “I’ll keep it a secret as long as my stomach stays flat and smooth. Though as soon as I see Sara, I‘ll tell her.”

Clare moved to the bed, Badim instinctively following and sitting next to her, “Whatever her highness wants.” he teased.

“Oh be quiet, Anesho my loyal follower.” she murmured. Time seemed to slow for Badim and he was slowly drifting to sleep, then Clare let out a brief cry as she sprang to her feet, her hands instantly connecting to her abdomen as she squeezed and tried to press the pain she had suddenly felt away--Pain?

Badim had already been at Clare’s side, and almost in unison they had sprung together. Badim had his hands on her, one on her cheek and another on her stomach, rubbing deep and gently, but her mouth was wide open and her eyes close to tearing at the pain she was experiencing.
“What’s wrong?” Badim asked, keeping it hushed so the rest of the crew didn’t hear, at least not yet. Clare couldn’t reply, her voice was filled with utters of pain and she shook her head. Badim ran his hand up in her hair and angled her to look at him, “Clare. What’s wrong?”

“I-I-I Don’t know, it--” she grimaced at another shot of pain, “It’s-neh—lessening. But-nuh-that hurt.”

“Where’s the pain?” Badim asked, angling and straightening her face towards his while he did, trying to see her beautiful blue eyes for reassurance.
She grabbed his hand that was on her stomach and guided it where it hurt. A little lower and to the right from her navel.

Her expression of pain started to lessen and soon she was the same, painless tear soaked woman he loved.
Badim didn’t know what else to do about the situation, except to lead her back to their bed and hope for the best. What could have happened in two weeks? Maybe it was the cold, tensing her muscles and not agreeing with her. There were so many possibilities, but for now it had ended.

Someone rapped on the door and Badim stood to open it, depressing the button and hearing the door hiss open to see H6, “Statement: Master. I thought it would be appropriate to let you know we are on our way to Bespin and--”

“Good to know. Make some checks on the ship and make sure Mycah hasn’t sabotaged the ship again.”

H6 nodded, Badim shut the door, dimmed the lights and returned to Clare’s side as they both began to drift to sleep together.

The ship was finally quiet, its inhabitants either asleep or variably bunked up. Sethe was at the helm, watching the stars fly past. He'd connected with kyp before they'd disembarked, and made sure the Imps couldn't put a tracer on either the Escrow or the Vigilance. Leaving was one thing, caution was high priority.

Priorities. Tseneca had lost consciousness as soon as he'd hooked her up to a bacta drip. Examining her head wound he found it festering. She was running a small fever, which he hoped would subside by the time they reached their next destination. Plus, she still needed some kind of blood transfusion. Operating the way she did on the amount of blood she'd lost was not good. A bacta drip would only do so much. She needed to be monitored.

It was hard to be upset with her when she was in such a state. His aggravation was sorely interrupted by the fact that she was in such bad shape. He'd told himself ten times that the only reason they'd kissed was because her inhibitions had been felled by the gas. He knew also, on counterpoint, that somewhere in there she harbored feelings for him that the toxin loosened. Moreover he was simply upset for being led on. Why couldn't she understand...

he had to lean back and analyze his feelings. They were too much for him right now. She was Emmett's girl, they'd known each other, what, less than a month? And now they toted around together so companionably... No wonder Lucas had gotten frustrated with her... it was as if they were betraying Emmett before his body had time to meet ground.

He looked at his hands. This couldn't go on. He couldn't pressure her with the type of urgency he felt, no more than she could forget her dead lover. His guilt at nearly killing her could be remedied once she healed, but he couldn't ask anything more of her then what she was giving him. Wasn't it enough just to be around each other?

He felt his heart wrench and muscles tense with a twisting unease. No. It wasn't enough. This wasn't attraction anymore, this was something else. And he had to bury it before he wrecked everything...

"Hey."

He jumped and turned, looking down at the main deck. It was Lucas. The kid climbed the ladder to the helm and took a seat in the copilot's chair.

"Hey yourself." Sethe was trying to be friendly... but his own inward issues made him come off sounding like an asshole. He added: "Warming up?"

"Yes, thank gods." Lucas said.

He was a pretty-boy, this one. The one word version, not the two. The fact that Tseneca loved him so much attested to the fact that he had character, and so Sethe respected him for that. The two were an odd couple, which made his mind boggle a little. Sethe was getting used to him anyway, which was a good thing.

"How is she?" Lucas had activated the nav. computer, but was looking for more of an explanation. Sethe told him about mycah, about the toxin, the smugglers hold, and her condition. Lucas sat back, eyes wide.

"I miss so much when i'm away." the boy said, and Sethe smirked. Just another walk in the park for this crew. "So where to now?" he asked.

Sethe cleared his throat. "I'm thinking Bespin. The place has become something of a high class resort since Calrissian sold it for marketing. Between you and Tseneca, I think we could afford some R and R, about this time. If one has the creds, one should use them."

Lucas laughed. "Your awfully quick to spend other peoples money."

Sethe smiled and set course for Cloud City. "I do what I can."

The Escrow felt like a home away from home. His friends were here, and though it wasn't the Blight Leaper, it was close. Jonas was sprawled across the bed, as Lucas dropped alongside him. They squeezed each other, Lucas setting his head on the boy's shoulder. "I don't think I want to be away from you like that again." Jonas whispered, his hand caressing the muscles in the neck. Lucas relaxed a little, it was the first time he felt at peace, in a long time. The sharp freezing temperatures of Hoth had brought him far from his comfort zone and stripped reality bare from his bones. He felt raw, and it was good. The numb feelings the darkness had casted over him since the self-inflicted Sith mark was slowly draining away.

Jonas drifted to sleep, and Lucas pulled himself up. He wrapped a blanket around Eisley's body, using care not to wake him, even when pulling the best of the pillows just under his head. Bending low, he kissed him across the lips, and held the connection. He could feel the breathing and the serenity. Lucas smiled as he released, tip-toed out and through the door. Lucas was half-way around the corner, when he noticed Rylii leaning against the corner bulkhead.

Their eyes met for a moment, before the blond turned and walked away, presumably towards his quarters. Lucas felt a ping of guilt, but pushed towards the bridge. Sethe was there, it was comforting to know he would always be there, in their lives. Lucas may not have agreed with his intentions over Tseneca, at first, but the man was growing on him. It seemed he actually cared. "Hey." Lucas tossed him, with a smile.

Lucas and Sethe spoke for a while, and not about the events that had transpired over the last week. It was, more or less, to get to know each other. They were both important figures in Tseneca's life, and they needed to accept that. The ship slipped from hyperspace, it was a short journey, but they had arrived at Bespin.

After Bespin:

The Escrow was fine, for all of the maintenece Sethe had paid for. The hull had been patched up, and most of the damage done by the noxious gas had been repaired.

He settled himself on the upper level, watching as the ships took off in turn. Each one was patched to them, with a communicator that could be activated in hyperspace should the need arise.

"Lucas, im sending you some information about this place. It's located off of the Giju Run in the core area. They used to call it Dahrtag, before it became a heavy metropolis. Its a thriving city now..." Tseneca was leaning over his shoulder, typing in various network-grade info-tainments about the planet. He watched her hands speed across the keypad, and listened as she jittered off facts from various 'pedias. Kyp chimed in.

"We'll need to be careful." The older mans voice cut the chatter. "This is a difficult place to be, especially for force users."

Sethe scoffed. "Don't tell me you're afraid of Zombies."

Most spacers had heard tell of the so called "Starscream projects" dating back to the early empire. Most homebound mothers on Argauu used to tell their children about the Exploits of "Doctor Death" and his reanimation of souls. It wasn't until later, in the navy, that Sethe had learned that the "Doctor Death" that he had so feared as the boogey man of his childhood was the very real Cornelius Evazan, caught and killed shortly after the first death star was destroyed. The stories though, of his experiments on dead tissue, the idea that the man had created monsters from the scratch of terrestrial corpses, had left its mark.

"There are more things to fear than "Zombies". Kyps voice was reprimanding, and Tseneca put her hand on the back of Sethe's neck, bidding him to listen and not argue. "Many say a Dark Jedi was killed there, during the early clone wars. The soul of a force user is not always easily dispersed, especially the dark force users." There was a pause. "And then there's always the boneworms..."

Tseneca rolled her eyes good-humordly. "If its as Lucas says, a thriving city, we shouldn't have too much to worry about other than finding Mycah and getting the Leaper back, Old wives ghost stories or no."

"It pays to be cautious." Kyp said, and Lucas, still on the line agreed.

She shut the channel and Sethe began jump preparations. The other ships, with their clearence, had already gone out of atmo. The Escrow would tail them.

Next stop, Necropolis.

The flight to Necropolis was uneventfull, and didn't take long considering the space between the Outers and the Core Worlds. Still, through hyperspace, Jonas had kept to himself, and Sethe had concentrated on upping the ships security. Something he'd talked to Coral about, no doubt.

The level of jealousy Tseneca had felt was diminished, especially after Sethe had explained what had happened between he and Coral, and especially after Coral had spoken to her shortly before boarding.

"No hard feelings?" The young woman had put out her hand and squeezed Tseneca's, a gesture she appreciated. She's smiled then, and hoped that, in the future, the two of them could become better friends. That was a good thing.

Now, on board the Escrow, Sethe and she knew they had to try to keep an air of professionalism, especially where privacy was considered. They slept in seperate cabins, although he wasn't stopped from entering hers when the ship was quiet and sliding beneath the sheets with her, and she wasn't stopped from doing the same thing. It was more than just the sex. They'd talk long into what qualified as day in space, about their pasts, about jobs they'd done, about how wonderfully different and alike they both were. There was so much to know, and Tseneca was happy to open herself up to that.

But now, they'd come out of hyperspace, and Necropolis loomed beneath them like a dark ball dotted with Chrystal. She shivered.

"You're not psyching out are you?" Sethe teased, and laid a heavy hand on her back.

She shook her head. but before she could answer back, the channel beeped. Sethe reached forward and flipped it on.

"You there?" Coral's voice came up over the comm. She sounded harried.

"Just arrived. whats up?" Sethe asked.

There was a short pause, she sounded like she was speaking to someone. Then... "The officials I have on the planet are... somewhat indesposed. It seems a majority of the planet is under imperial control, and there's nothing I can do with my clearence." Her voice lowered. "I fibbed a little and presented forged documentation, but we wont be able to get any help from these guys."

Tseneca looked at Sethe, concerned, and Jonas, who'd come in at the tail end had a nervous grimace on his face. They waited for her to continue.

"I might have some good news though." She said. "I've been able to hack into SAMMs security wall, the one compromised by Mycah when he took the ship. I have a hunch of where he might be, but its getting the clearence to land thats going to be the trick."

"Are Lucas and Ryles already planetside?" She asked.

Coral grunted. "Their plan to go as Kuati citizens worked like a charm. They're docked at Tuqu station on the southern end of the city. Kyp's there as well"

Sethe looked at her. "Then its just as easy to say we're transporting a Thyferran diplomat--"

Coral cut him off. "To Necropolis? I don't think so. you need to lay low about that this isn't like Hoth where we can blackmail our way out. Hostilities are on edge, they already have their hackles up with Kyp having landed."

"I've got workers papers. for all they know we're looking for odd jobs." Sethe looked at Tseneca, who nodded. She rarely went anywhere without the papers documenting her as neutral freelance, even now.

"Good." Another pause. "In that case get down here quick and don't make a fuss."

"Is something else wrong?" Tseneca interjected. She sensed something, not just in the way Coral was speaking.

"I-- I don't know yet. Just be quick about landing." Coral cut the connection.

The silence in the cockpit could have sliced glass. Without another word, Sethe flipped on docking starters and they headed toward the misty atmo of Necropolis.
