Characters
Player Characters and Non-Player Characters
PCs and NPCs both play a vital part of this game. A Player-character is one directly controlled by the user, and there are rules protecting their survival and such. Non-player characters (NPCs), however, are not true characters. They are able to be killed without CMAC approval and are not directly controlled by the player. An example of an NPC is a random crewman on a ship to whom your character may give an order.
Maximum Number Allowed
Up to five player characters may be controlled by one player, each on a separate account. All characters must be in the same faction (unless you have the prior written consent of all faction leaders involved; they may reject your application at any time) or without any affiliation - some exceptions may be made on rare occasions. Please bear in mind that the actions in the game are linked to the character, not the player.

Protected NPCs
Each player has the ability to "protect" up to five NPCs. This is an option if the player has already hit his 5-Player Character limit. Protected NPCs (PNPCs) should be listed in the player's profile[s]. Protected NPCs are under the protection of CMAC's mortality and abuse laws, but they are still treated like normal NPCs - no individual account. You may have Force-sensitive PNPCs, but this is for role-playing purposes only. PNPCs will not receive a Force level, and may not use their powers in battle, or to any degree of interaction. Crazy abilities, such as proclaimning your PNPC is the chosen one, are subject to CMAC moderation. Force-sensitive PNPCs may not be swapped with a pre-existing FS PC. "Precedent" of the powers of a FS PNPC will not be considered if a FS PNPC becomes a FS PC.
Species
With the exception of a single SWVII character, no applications for beings of the unknown tridactyl species will be accepted. Other species are also restricted. Please check with CMAC for more information.
Force sensitivity
Force Sensitive characters are subject to CMAC review at any time. Original characters require a dice roll to determine sensitivity; you get one roll only. Canon characters (also including FS from SWVII) do not require a roll. Also, there is a strict limit of one FS per player with the exception of SWVII players who applied for and received more than one FS before the rule went into effect. Any character denied FS in SWVII will be considered rolled in SWVIII, as well.
Spies
Spies must inform CMAC before application so there is no confusion. In addition, no admin may use their powers to find out a spy, whether in their own faction or another. Requests by players to any admin asking to know if a character is a spy will be refused unconditionally.
Money
All characters start with 50,000 credits unless they are a carry-over from the original RPG, SWVII. This is not being biased to old standbys, but rather because most of the players worked long and hard to earn their money. Also, you begin with just the credits, no starships, weapons, etc. unless the character is canon.
Corporations
A character may not apply as the head of a canon corporation.
Death
All character deaths must be approved either by the player of the targeted character, or by CMAC unanimous vote.
Dismemberment
All serious and/or debilitating injuries to a character (including limb amputation, long-term paralyzation, and infection) require player consent.
Capture
All character captures must be mutually consented or approved by CMAC in the event of dispute only.

Portrayal of Canon Characters
Canon characters, unlike originals, have preestablished behavioral patterns and ideals. If a player with a canon character so radically changes these patterns and ethos to suit their faction's needs, or just out lack of command of the character's true nature, CMAC may initiate a poll thread, polling the community as to whether the character should be taken or not. If the majority vote is in favor of pulling the character, CMAC will post a contest thread allowing participants to apply for the ownership of the character.

Romance
When role-playing matters of an intimate nature, please bear in mind that this is not an erotica forum. Any post that crosses the line will be edited.

Rating
This RPG carries a rating equivalent to PG-13 and up. Although no one under the age of 13 is allowed here, please be warned that mature content and situations are the norm.

Profanity
Excessively foul language is not to be employed.

Godmodding
Godmodding is a scenario in which a character takes on powers, attributes and abilities far beyond what would be considered acceptable, forces his or her own actions on another player, or disrupts gameplay with an overly powerful character that exploits its 'godlike' abilities to the detriment of the game and other players.* Godmodding takes many forms, and all are prohibited in this RPG. Most annoying is information godmodding, in which a character who should have no knowledge of a situation (usually by not directly witnessing it) instantly knows the smallest detail of the situation. Next are other forms of godmodding, which include attempts at invincibility, immortality, perfect skill and being impossible to defeat, controlling other players' or factions' characters, as well more Force-oriented forms, such as employing powers far above the character's power and skill. There is also a political form, wherein a character possesses the supposed total-loyalty of a planet or race. All forms of godmodding are subject to an immediate warning, or if enough warnings accumulate, a ban.

Factions and Companies
Assets
All faction assets (ships, finance) are managed by faction leaders. Movement of said assets will be done by PM to the battlemaster, with a post in the thread preferred as well, by the person initiating the movement. Only those assets within the assets thread for your faction may be used, and all assets must be purchased either publicly or PMed to the Battlemaster. In addition, troop recruitments must be PMed to the Battlemaster. Any asset movement or construction/recruitment lacking in notification will be invalid and deemed godmodding if the case warrants.

All assets of a faction, including ships, income and balance, must be recorded in your private forum[s].

Active Characters
At the end of each month, faction leaders are required to PM a complete listing on their faction's current characters to Kalydon Skirata. Factions will be judged for their activity based on these listings, and factions that are defunct will be dealt with.
Planet Capture
Factions may not capture planets in a single post, and no more than two planets may be captured in a day. Results for diplomatic rolls will not be revealed until 24 hours after the post opening negotiations. Diplomatic negotiations must comprise at least two posts, preferably of moderate length. If people abuse the optional status of length, it will become mandatory. Also, bear in mind that the quality of your negotiations will have an impact on how likely the planet is to accept.

For taking planets by force, capture of occupied worlds is handled through the battlesystem. Unoccupied planets will require three combat posts, not including the final succumbing of the planet. Also, keep in mind that subduing a single village will not be sufficient, and there is the possibility of defeat by the local forces.
Bankruptcy
If a faction is bankrupt (Negative cashflow and no and/or negative immediate funds) for a period of greater than 24 hours, real-time, the faction is liquidated and ceases to exist.
NPCs
NPC commanders may not take planets, nor can they lead offensive battles. They may be used for defensive battles.
Custom Designs
Any faction that submits a design to CMAC will have to pay a research fee to develop said design, regardless of approval. Also, any ships over 2 kilometers in length are to be subject to a construction delay.
Laws
Bear in mind that your faction's laws do apply to your characters, and therefore may be used as justification for any action taken against them by the faction leaders.
Revolts and Loyalty
CMAC decides whe planetary revolts occur; not individual players. Also, planets do not fall at the feet of whoever visits and worship them. For example, if Imperial negotiators were to be waltzing around on Mon Calamari, it's likely they'd be rapidly detained. Same with other factions and xenophobic worlds or worlds with histories against particular factions. No entire group, especially millions of NPCs, revere the opinions of an individual, no matter what the circumstances.
Battles
Information
If a player is obstinate towards CMAC about revealing information for a battle, possible godmodding, or other instances where faction information would be given, CMAC is fully authorized to access the faction's forums and extract the needed information themselves.
Battle system
All battle actions will be adminstrated by CMAC. Do not under any circumstances take battle moderation into your own hands. Doing so will be considered godmodding.
Planetary Shield Generators
Planets under 20,000 kilometers in diameter may only have five SLD-26 (or similar) shield generators active at one time. Use of any more would incinerate the planet.

In-Character and Out-of-Character
We encourage you to not let things that happen within the RPG affect relationships between your fellow players. When you talk to them outside of the RPG (in an instant messenger, over email, or in the General forums, for example), do not talk to them as your character would. Always talk as regular people unless it has been established that you are talking In-Character. The failure to do this has led to much confusion, misunderstandings and many unneeded arguements. Don't let what happens between characters affect what you say to people Out-of-Character; if your character is mad at someone in the game, please try not to carry it over into real conversations.
